DO NOT use cat litter for training you puppy!!! I have heard of people doing this and it is BAD. Cat litter can get stuck in their pads and they can lick it off their coat causing expensive and harmful gastro-intestinal complications. It is in an orange bag and can be purchased at any fine petstore. If you don't see it at your pet store, ASK. They might carry it for you or tell you somewhere that does. Starting Out Oftentimes when you get your puppy, it will have started being trained to paper or "wee wee" pads that sit on the floor. If you did get a puppy like this, great, as this is an easy transition to make. If your puppy has no idea and won't use the pads either, hope is not lost. First off, get your pup to use newspaper or a pad in a designated area or two of your home. The boxes state adult size and weight so this is an easy step. These are great boxes with a "lip" for your little one to get in. I don't use cat boxes so I can't comment on how they might work. I believe in sticking to what works. Puppy within a couple of weeks started having loose stools to explosive diarrhea when we brought him home. After visit to vets and antibiotics vet recommended we switched to this food slowly with a bland diet. Doing fabulous on this food and he is growing appropriately. Kibbles are a great size. Using the food also as training treats. Chewy was awesome to work with to get his previous full bag of food donated to a no kill shelter. Only food we recommend to our buyers and also to others. They love this kibble so much, they are growing big and strong. As a dog family, we are very Impressed with Royal Canin as a brand; their older sister is on a Prescription Diet with Royal Canin as well so we have switched all of our food over to them. Cannot recommend them enough! I have always fed our Dogs Royal Canin and they did great. Had a German Shepherd that lived to almost 15 years old which I attribute to good food, exercise and love. Our puppy is thriving now. She eats every single feeding, no more diarrhea and she is growing well. My puppy loves it and prefers it over the Purina Pro Plan puppy lamb that his breeder started him on, I've been making the transition and he really likes it. If your dog is suffering some kind of health issue like renal, urinary, gastro, or diabetes, these formulas will address the concerns of those illnesses with a specially tailored recipe. Price is also a factor, as neither of these brands are cheap. When should I feed Royal Canin? Even with conditions such as diabetes and renal disease, you must ask yourself these same questions. Wet or Dry? Wet food is generally better than dry, and the process offers more digestible food for our dogs. Wet food has no abrasiveness, and dry foods are also questionable — dental formulas merely contain additives to fight plaque. Some Australian vets promote Raw Meaty Bones in this respect, and I tend to agree with them completely — the gnawing and chewing action I see as a far more natural way for your dog to retain great dental health which also wards off other disease.
