A few core volunteers sprang into action and quickly formed Pug Nation Rescue to ensure these pugs had a safe, loving place to call home. Since then, Pug Nation has been dedicated to rescuing and adopting out pugs and pug mixes regardless of age, medical status or special needs. The organization has 12 employees dedicated to caring for its pugs at its facility and averages about rescues and adoptions per year. We pride ourselves on always being there for the most vulnerable dogs—seniors, special needs and pugs with serious health issues. We also provide our dogs with excellent vet care and train our staff to handle special diets, medication, physical therapy, expressing bladders, etc. We feel it is important to establish a forever home for Pug Nation and the special, high needs pugs that may never be adopted. Unfortunately after the scans were taken, a spot was found on his liver which gave him a terminal diagnosis 2 months without chemo, 6 months with chemo. In March of he opted to start a chemo regiment every 3 weeks to hopefully extend his life expectancy. During the next few months him and I created a bucket list of things he wanted to do, which we were able to complete in between his visits to the hospital and chemo treatments. In August his cancer was reassessed to see if the chemo treatments had been working. The results were heartbreaking, the chemo hadn't worked and his body was full of cancer. Within a month of this heart breaking news my fathers health deteriorated, he was back and forth between hospice and the emergency room until he lost his battle to cancer on September 22, .My fathers loss has been extremely difficult, but I am now able to start focusing on my breeding program once again. Puppies or dog that have free rein in the house will be exceptionally hard to train. When you are home and are able to have your Poodle right by your side, use the tethering method. This means that your Poodle will be wearing a harness not a collar, since this can cause neck injury and will be on leash. The leash should be short and it should have a soft-looped handle, so that you can weave this through your belt loop or slip it over your wrist. When you are not home, or if you are home but cannot keep your Poodle near you, you'll need to keep your puppy or dog in a defined, secure area.
