Puppy Culture is a program developed by Jane Killion, professional dog trainer and breeder. By doing just the right things at just the right time, we can give your puppy the best start possible. The physical and emotional health of the mother will affect the health of her puppies. Since research has shown that puppies born to mothers that receive prenatal massage are more docile and enjoy being touched, we spoil our mothers with lots of affection and belly massages. Research shows that tiny struggles and stresses in appropriate small doses are actually good for puppies and will help them grow into strong, healthy well-adjusted adults. Benefits include greater tolerance to stress, greater resistance to disease, faster adrenal system, stronger heart rate and stronger heartbeat. This is a gift that a breeder can only give their puppies once during the window of days. Transitional Period: days Behavioral markers are used to identify the beginning and end of each developmental period because every puppy is different and these timelines are simply guidelines. Critical Socialization Period: weeks Most people think of socialization as exposing their puppies to as many new experiences as possible while the puppy is young. Our goal is to raise dogs that have the emotional intelligence to connect with you. Emotional intelligence can be taught to young puppies and one of the goals of the Puppy Culture Program is to teach breeders how to do this. There are 7 key things that will nurture the emotional intelligence of a puppy. Weeks Per Puppy Culture protocol, puppies go home with their families. When you adopt your puppy, you will be just as thankful as we are for this program! Barrier Challenge This simple exercise is one of the ways we encourage our puppies to develop problem solving skills. Box Game This little game teaches puppies that they can offer a behavior to receive a reward. Over time, we can actually shape a happy emotional response to annoyance. This is extremely important for puppies going to homes with small children. Manding Manding is a Puppy Culture protocol in which the puppies learn to offer a behavior for attention. In this case, I'm waiting for a sit and eye contact before giving them a treat. These puppies are star students! We are a small home-based breeder of Puppy Culture raised Australian labradoodles in Southern Colorado. We breed medium and standard-sized Australian labradoodles. We only breed for the enjoyment of the puppies and to further promote labradoodles that are of excellent health, conformation, and temperament. Our Australian labradoodles are bred with responsibility and integrity. Our goal is to place these special dogs into homes where they will be loved and cherished companions. Labradoodles are known for their intelligence, level-headedness, affection, sociability and cheerful disposition. They are loyal, friendly, eager to please, even-tempered, gentle and kind. This combination of traits makes them outstanding service and therapy dogs, as well as terrific family companions. We produce exceptional labradoodles because each litter is carefully planned. We keep two vital factors in mind as we make our selection: temperament and health. Each puppy born in our home is handled daily. Colorado Mountain Labradoodles utilize early neurological stimulation, as well as the puppy culture method which represents a gold standard in puppy rearing and early socialization. We also use both the Empowered Breeder, and Avidog Evaluation Test to evaluate the temperament of each puppy. A lot of doodle breeders are now claiming they raise their puppies using the Puppy Culture. They have been conditioned with the clicker, and are excited to be trained. Our Australian labradoodles are highly intelligent and are simple to train. They quickly learn standard obedience commands, such as sit, down, come and stay. They thrive on being mentally and physically engaged. They love playing and interacting with people and other dogs, especially in games involving chase, fetch or hide-and-seek. Families also find that our labradoodles enjoy participating in competitive canine activities, such as tricks, agility and obedience. As with almost any breed, their socialization and training should start at an early age and continue throughout their life. They share a love of water with their field Labrador and Poodle ancestors and often will enter water without prompting. All of our puppies receive love and care from everyone in the family. By the time they are ready to go home with you, they will be used to children and other dogs, and ready to go home to be a loving member of your family. Our dogs are treated as family, and are included in our daily routines. Sound-proofing puppies Preparing Puppy Buyers As we mentioned above, the Puppy Culture program is split into week-by-week lessons. The whole program is broken up into four stages: prenatal period, neonatal period, transitional period, and crucial socialization period. It also includes tips and tricks on how to keep the mama happy and calm, such as belly rubs, a good diet, and more. Transitional Period: days Using behavioral markers to understand the beginning and end of each developmental period. Only after the transitional period are puppies ready to start socialization. Emotional stability: teaching the puppy how to overcome stress and fear, and how to improve their emotional resilience. Habituation: introducing the puppy to other puppies and adult dogs, different sounds, sights, new people, and more. Enrichment: teaching the puppy problem solving, learning, and discovering new things and situations. Skills: teaching the puppy essential skills like recall, manding, simple commands, potty training, crate training, leash walking, bite inhibition, and resource guarding. Love: teaching the puppy to seek out the company of humans and other dogs. Also, desensitizing the puppy to body handling, hugging, and kissing. Puppy Culture Exercise Chart The Puppy Culture exercise chart found here is a great guideline that both breeders and dog owners can follow. It includes a variety of exercises that are suitable for a puppy at each of their puppy growth stages, which are split up into weeks old, weeks old, months old, months old, months old, and 18 months to 2 years old. Our short answer is, yes! The Puppy Culture method is scientifically backed and it truly is a great, comprehensive program that covers all aspects of raising healthy, well-rounded puppies. The Puppy Culture program teaches many useful Puppy Culture training methods, but also covers the importance of prenatal care and how to take care of mama dogs before the puppies are even born. Of course, not all breeders follow the Puppy Culture program and have instead opted for different, similar programs. Some breeders have thoroughly studied various programs and implemented all of them into their breeding practices. Regardless if a breeder follows the Puppy Culture program or not, you should only look for breeders who utilize various enrichment methods, such as household desensitization, socialization, and early training. Although puppies are so small, only 2 months old upon adoption, their very first weeks are going to shape their behavior and emotional intelligence for the rest of their lives.

We continue to receive owner surrenders a week, along with multiple pleas from surrounding shelters for Boxers in need.
