Long-haired German Shepherds are technically called a long coat German Shepherd, while a short-haired German Shepherd is called a normal coat or stock coat German Shepherd. Dogs with either coat have the same physiological structure and both have double coats: an undercoat and a top coat. The only difference between the two is the top coat. The long haired German Shepherd will have a heavier top coat than the undercoat. The double coat of a German Shepherd is an important feature of the breed. The double coat weathers and insulates the dogs—it protects them from the cold in the winter and the heat in the summer. The length of the coat of a German Shepherd has no impact on its ability as a working dog. What does a long haired German Shepherd look like? The skeleton and structure of a long-haired German Shepherd will be the same as a short-haired German Shepherd. Both dogs will have an undercoat, but the difference is that the top coat of a long-haired German Shepherd will be longer. The long coat GSD has longer and silkier hair on the chest, back, face, tail, and on the backside of its legs. Short on the head, including the inside of the ears, on the front side of the legs, on the paws and toes, somewhat longer and more strongly covered in hair on the neck, almost forming a mane. On the back side of the legs the hair extends to the carpal joint or the hock and forms clear trousers on the back side of the haunches. Historically, German Shepherds originated in Germany and were native sheepdogs. He firmly believed that the standard of the German Shepherd breed should not include dogs with long hair. Throughout the s, long haired German Shepherds were considered unsuitable and unacceptable for breeding. It is important to note that long-haired German Shepherds are the result of natural genetic diversity and not a separate breed. Their long coats are an inherited trait that can occur when both parents carry the recessive long-hair gene. This gene manifests as a more luxurious and abundant coat, offering a striking contrast to the traditional short-haired German Shepherd appearance. The breeding of long-haired German Shepherds follows the same rigorous standards and principles as their short-haired counterparts. The focus remains on maintaining the breed's exceptional temperament, working abilities, and overall health. Over time, breeders recognized the value of long-haired German Shepherds and began selectively breeding them to maintain and enhance their unique characteristics. Through careful pairings and strategic breeding programs, the long-haired variety established itself as a distinct and cherished branch of the German Shepherd breed. How big do long-haired German Shepherds get? Long-haired German Shepherds are structurally the same as short-haired German Shepherds, therefore they can both grow to similar sizes. Males: inches tall, pounds Females: inches tall, pounds Since both German Shepherds are physiologically the same, they also have the same temperaments: loyal, intelligent, energetic, courageous and protective. German Shepherds are ranked 2 on the AKC Breed Popularity list and make for wonderful family companions and working dogs. How can I identify a long-haired German Shepherd puppy? In the photo below are two litter mates from a recent Nadelhaus litter. The puppy on the left is a long coat and the puppy on the right is a normal coat. The long coat has wispier hair on the chest, back, face, tail, and on the backside of its legs. Long-hair female German Shepherd next to short-hair male German Shepherd. Genetically in German Shepherds, the short hair gene is dominant and the long hair gene is recessive. This means if two short-haired German Shepherds are mated, but neither carries the recessive long hair gene, then no long haired puppies can be produced. However, if two short-haired German Shepherds are mated and both carry the recessive gene, then long-haired German Shepherd puppies can be produced. Long-haired German Shepherds are considered a less common variant of the breed, adding to their allure and exclusivity. While short-haired German Shepherds dominate the breed standard, enthusiasts of long-haired Shepherds appreciate their unique beauty and elegant appearance. Due to their rarity, finding a reputable breeder or rescue organization specializing in long-haired German Shepherds may require some research and patience. However, the joy of owning one of these beautiful dogs is well worth the effort for those who appreciate their longer coats and exceptional qualities. Do long-haired German Shepherds shed more than short-haired German Shepherds? No, this is a common misconception. Although they shed less than short haired German Shepherds, their coats still require regular maintenance. They will need regular brushing and grooming, especially if you enjoy hiking or outdoor activities with your GSD. While it is a rare occurrence for a long-haired GSD to not have an undercoat, most of them do have undercoats. And just like short-haired GSDs, their undercoats will shed more or less throughout the year depending on the season. Should I trim my long haired German Shepherd's coat? The decision to trim a long haired German Shepherd comes down to personal preference, but it is not a necessity. Trimming can help make for more manageable living around the house. If you choose to trim, you can trim around the backs of the ears, on the back of the legs both front and back and then thin the bushy tail. Shaving a German Shepherd on the other hand is never recommended. Their double coats help keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. What are long haired German Shepherds called? Regular brushing: Long-haired German Shepherds require regular brushing to prevent matting and tangles. Aim for at least a few brushing sessions per week to keep their coat in good condition. Finish your brushing session with a gentle dog brush to clean up loose hairs. Bathing and drying: It's important to bathe your long-haired German Shepherd as needed, using a dog-specific shampoo. Be sure to thoroughly rinse out all the shampoo to prevent any residue. After bathing, use a high-velocity dryer or a cool air dryer to dry their coat thoroughly, as moisture trapped in the fur can lead to skin issues. Professional grooming: Consider taking your long-haired German Shepherd to a professional groomer for occasional trimming and coat maintenance. A groomer can help keep the fur around sensitive areas, such as the paws and ears, tidy and reduce the chances of matting. Watch for seasonal shedding: Like all German Shepherds, long-haired ones will undergo shedding seasons. Be prepared for increased shedding during these times and brush your dog more frequently to remove loose hair. A de-shedding tool can be helpful in managing shedding and keeping their coat healthy. Remember, each dog is unique, and the specific care requirements may vary. Does Nadelhaus sell long haired German Shepherd puppies? If he had opposable thumbs, he would be unstoppable. Intelligent and obedient, purebred German Shepherd puppies are more than devoted pets - they are lifelong companions. Pure-breed black German shepherd puppies have the right temperament to make engaging family pets. Leave them alone or confined. These pups will grow mischievous and become high-strung. As the name implies, they originated in Germany in the late s. As part of the Herding Group, German Shepherds were used for livestock, herding, and guarding sheep. Back then, GSDs were not considered pets or companions but servants of farmers. Although German Shepherds weren't considered household pets, their owners did provide proper food, protection, and shelter. In the early s, a German cavalry officer named Captain Max Von Stephanitz made it his mission to create an ideal German herder. He co-founded the world's first club devoted to German Shepherds. Von spent 35 years promoting and refining the wonderful breed. People finally noticed how strong, smart, and obedient German Shepherds are. So now the military employs them as working dogs. Their intelligence, strength, speed, obedience, agility, and keen sense of smell make them perfect for the job. German Shepherds are also very versatile and make great companions. Their impressive and lovable personalities soon drew the attention of other countries. German Shepherd dog was brought to the United States in the early s, and American breeders began to develop their own lines of the breed. The American Kennel Club recognized the German Shepherd in , and the species has been one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States ever since. Today, GSDs are not only considered one of the most favorite household pets. The versatility and outstanding characteristics make German Shepherds beautiful pets, companions, and protectors. Due to the breed's reputation for being loyal, courageous, and easy to train, German Shepherds are used as police or military dogs. Personality Know the personality and temperament of your German Shepherd Dog German Shepherds are well-known for their smartness, confidence, intelligence, loyalty, and courageous personalities. As household pets, German Shepherd dogs get along with their owners and other members of the family. However, they do not get along with strangers easily, but with time, they warm up to anyone who tries to be friendly with them. The German Shepherd dog breed is distinguished for courage, loyalty, and the ability to maintain training. Because German Shepherds have strong guardian instincts, they tend to be loyal and protective of their owners and children. Given their strong guardian instincts, inadequate training and poor socialization can make them aggressive toward strangers. Their over-protective and aggressive behaviors can put any owner at risk. Therefore, GSDs should be carefully socialized with proper training from a very young age. The best thing about GSDs is that they are intelligent. German Shepherd dogs are usually active and like to be occupied with an activity. They do well with people who allow them to stay active. They need an ample amount of exercise daily to retain their activeness. They should be continually exposed to supervision during the training period. Most importantly, your German Shepherd should not be confined to a kennel or backyard alone, as GSDs like to be around their loved ones. Keeping them tied up alone will make them lonely and aggressive. A German Shepherd dog should be purchased from a good and reputed breeder. We do not hand over any puppy or dog without having them vet-checked. Health Health is wealth, even for your German Shepherd dog. Moreover, German Shepherds are prone to experience problems like bloat, skin allergies, gastric torsion, and abdomen swelling. German Shepherds experience these conditions. German Shepherds must be taken to the vet, like most other dogs, for routine health checkups. A regular checkup allows you to track your pet's health condition. Owners should be aware of all the GSDs' health-related symptoms to take care of them by taking their dogs to the vet when any symptom occurs. Besides, if you want to buy a healthy pet, you must contact a good breeder. We do everything a good breeder would do to deliver a healthy puppy to a customer. We also discuss health problems in the genetics of a puppy or dog. Grooming The importance of grooming your German Shepherd dog The adorable appearance of the German Shepherd dog is known to all. They are very adorable and majestic to look at. GSDs usually shed twice a year. Proper grooming helps in controlling shedding and keeps the coat nice. They only need a quick brushing a few times a week. A thorough brush helps to remove loose hairs from their coat and keep the fur nice and shiny. During the shedding time, frequent brushing is required to prevent the mess caused by heavy shedding. Giving the occasional bath should suffice to help them clean and smell nice. Your dog can end up hurting you unintentionally if the nails are too long. Invest in quality dog grooming products to ensure proper and safe grooming. Thus, do not forget to groom your precious German Shepherd dog. Finding How to find the right German Shepherd Breeders? The German Shepherd is one of the most popular dog breeds in the U. The mother's milk production is also stimulated by the hormone prolactin, which is secreted in large amounts after mating. When do German shepherd puppies' ears stand up? Some puppies' ears stand up as early as 5 or 6 weeks old, but others don't have completely erect ears until they're a few months old. If the puppy's ears haven't begun to stand up by then, you should take it to the vet to see if there's a problem. Contact us before the puppies get sold. Bringing happiness and love through puppies!! Some of my story…. I have been in love with german shepherds ever since i was 20 and got my first German shepherd dog named Elsa. I decided about 10 years ago that i wanted to start breeding. I work hard on breeding only from the best lines. I breed for health, temperament, workability, beauty, and many other things. I try to stick to long coats because those are my favorite. Our goal with our breeding program is to promote healthy, sound dogs, who are suitable for any situation and be gentle enough to able to be handled by families as well. I have a variety of drives and energies and each puppy goes thru temperament testing to make sure they go to the right homes, as well as being raised on the Puppy Culture Program. I do not promote the extreme roach back shepherds. Mine either have the proper gentle slope or a more straight old fashioned back. All my dogs are part of the family. We do not have kennels, and I will never keep my dogs in kennels. That would make them very unhappy lol. Every dog i own lives in the house with us and is part of our family. I have recently acquired a nursery shed! It was bought as a shell and I am building the whole inside into puppy rooms, and after the puppies are raised indoors in my bedroom for the first couple weeks, they are then moved out to the nursery shed! They will still be in the house all the time, but they will be in the shed and outdoors when nice for a majority. I am so excited for the addition and have been waiting a long time for it!!!! My goals for are to get ALL my dogs various titles! I implement the Puppy Culture Program into our litters! Its amazing, and so much fun! I love being able to give puppies the absolute best start in their lives which will impact their whole life! Its an amazing program! Puppies are raised for the first 2 weeks in our bedroom so we can watch over them carefully and someone is always with them during that time, and during that time we also do the Early Neurological Stimulation with them. Then we move them to their bigger whelping pens which will be the nursery shed now where we play classical music and other varieties including thunderstorm all the time except bedtime when its quiet time. They learn to use the litter boxes and play with toys. We introduce to new sounds, smells, and textures daily. They are raised in our home and underfoot most of the time, and are handled all day everyday, so they get the full family setting and used to daily family activities and noises and such. This is all a HUGE learning process for me. I do my best and try my hardest at all times. I do not claim to be perfect but I always strive for perfection. I want to produce the best quality dogs I can and I want everyone to always be happy with their lifelong companions. I may make mistakes along the way, but I will always try to fix them and do better next time and move forward and take each mistake as a learning opportunity. My goal is to provide happiness and love to everyone thru my favorite dog- the German shepherd. I also provide transport for my puppies and others as well. They change so often, I cannot give a set price at any time until its actually time to book. If transport is needed to meet you someplace or take a puppy to meet you at the airport, it is the same, 50 cents a mile round trip. I will start a list in the menu at the top, of websites, or breeder names, whom I feel are deserving of recognition. Ill try to update this list whenever I think of someone or something I may have missed!

With their signature bat ears and expressive eyes, French Bulldogs, or "Frenchies" as they are lovingly known, have captured the hearts of many dog lovers around the globe, consistently ranking among the most popular breeds. Renowned for their easy maintenance and the ability to thrive in apartment living, French Bulldogs are a city dweller's delight. Their small size, typically weighing under 28 pounds, makes them perfectly suited to compact urban spaces. However, their charming personalities and heartwarming companionship are universally loved, irrespective of city or countryside living. This breed's laid-back nature does not mean they're devoid of fun and play. On the contrary, French Bulldogs can be quite playful and are known for their often comical and entertaining antics, which only further endears them to their owners. Their affectionate demeanor, combined with a remarkably low barking tendency, makes them a joy to have around the house. French Bulldogs are sturdy, compact, and stocky, with a powerful muscular build that contradicts their small size. They have a smooth coat that comes in a variety of colors, from fawn and brindle to white and grey. Their facial expressions are human-like, and they're known to "talk" using a complex system of yawns, yips, and gargles. However, owning a French Bulldog does come with responsibilities. Their brachycephalic short-nosed nature makes them prone to certain health issues and less tolerant of extreme temperatures. Despite their muscular appearance, they are not the best swimmers, and care should be taken around bodies of water. French Bulldogs are an affectionate and mischievous breed of small dog, belonging to the Non-Sporting Group. Although sometimes considered a toy dog, they are bred with a heavier body structure than many of the other toy breeds. They display a combination of traits from their ancestors, the English Bulldog and the Parisian Ratter. French Bulldogs are recognizable by their bat-like ears and wide-set eyes. This breed typically weighs pounds and are vigorous, alert and friendly. The breed has a short coat that requires minimal grooming and minimal exercise. Will French Bulldog puppies for sale in Toledo cause me to have allergies? It is not certain whether French Bulldogs will cause you to have allergies or not. Every individual's allergy response is unique and will depend on a variety of factors such as your particular type of allergy, your individual physiology, and the ability of your immune system to manage the allergens. While some people may not have any reaction to French Bulldogs, others may experience symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, watery eyes, or a runny nose. What's the best dog food for Toledo French Bulldog puppies for sale? French Bulldogs are sensitive to dietary changes, so it's important to provide them with a balanced diet suitable for their nutritional needs. To ensure their good health and well-being, many experts recommend an all-natural, grain-free dog food specifically designed for large breed canines. This type of food is higher in protein than other brands, and contains the right amounts of fat and carbohydrates to keep them healthy and fit. Additionally, it contains a variety of vitamins and minerals to ensure their health and development. What are some essentials I should buy before getting French Bulldog puppies in Toledo? Before getting a French Bulldog, you should make sure that you have everything you need to provide for their basic needs. This includes getting a high-quality food, a comfortable bed, toys, chew bones, a crate, nail clippers, a brush and comb, treats, collar and leash, and enough food and water bowls. You should also ensure that you have the necessary items for regular grooming such as special shampoos, ear cleaning solution, and other items. Additionally, you should purchase flea and tick preventative as well as heartworm preventative. What sizes do French Bulldogs for sale in Toledo come in? French Bulldogs do not have a set size since they are a hybrid of bulldogs and terriers, but typically they range from 11 inches to 1 foot tall at the shoulder and can weigh up to 28 pounds. Typically, French Bulldogs have medium sized, smushed faces, and broad chests with straight tails. Though their size is usually consistent within the breed, there are four official size varieties: Standard, Small, Dwarf, and Miniature, which range from 11 to 15 inches tall at the shoulder and often weigh up to 28 pounds. Are French Bulldog puppies near Toledo active dogs? French Bulldogs can be a very active breed of dog, but their energy level depends on their age, genetics, diet, and lifestyle. A well socialized and exercised Frenchie can be a lively, playful pup who loves to go on runs and play games with their family. An inactive Frenchie may be content to lounge around the house most of the time. In either case, French Bulldogs tend to take their energy level cues from their owners, so offering plenty of interactive playtime and exercise is a great way to keep them active and healthy. Are French Bulldogs in Toledo good for first-time owners? French Bulldogs can make good pets for first-time owners, provided they are adequately researched and prepared for the responsibilities of owning a pet. As a companion breed, Frenchies are affectionate, loyal, and good-natured. They thrive off of human interaction and companionship, making them great for people who want a loyal partner. While they can be companions of all sizes, they can also be quite strong for their size, so it is important to be aware of any strength imbalances and understand how to appropriately manage them. Is training Toledo French Bulldogs for sale easy? Training a French Bulldog can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience, depending on the individual pup and the effort you put into establishing rules and boundaries. French bulldogs are intelligent and loyal, making them potentially easier to train, but their strong-willed and independent personalities can make it challenging to successfully execute commands. Patience and consistency are key when it comes to training any pup, and it is essential to ensure that your French Bulldog is consistently exposed to positive reinforcement.

A cross between English bulldogs and Paris ratters from France, French bulldogs are known for their small stature, muscular build and smushy face. They are extremely playful and loyal animals, making them the perfect companion for single individuals and families with small children alike. With a bit of a stubborn streak as well, these dogs are known for their human-like personality and require a bit of patience to train. However, once trained, the Frenchie demonstrates remarkable intelligence and an eagerness to please beyond that of any other dog breed. Simply put, well bred French bulldog puppies are rare. This is especially true of the more popular colors of the breed, such as rare blue and chocolate, or white, and the even rarer pure blue, pure black, black and tan and blue and tan, which have a higher price too. More common brindle, sable, cream and fawn that are well bred are still expensive, but because they are not as sought after as the others, they are slightly more affordable. French bulldogs are not easy to breed. For starters, due to their narrow hips, Frenchies are incapable of breeding naturally and so a female must be artificially inseminated. This is a fairly expensive process that takes a significant amount of time. Secondly, a typical French bulldog female tends to have small litters, with an average number of live births topping off at four, but going as low as just one to two puppies. This makes it difficult for breeders to break even after vet costs and artificial insemination expenses. Third, because of their large heads and stocky shoulders, French bulldog puppies cannot be delivered naturally, as that would cause considerable damage, if not death, to the mother. Instead, they must be delivered via C-section, another expensive procedure. Lastly, puppies of this breed require a great deal of care and attention in their first weeks and even months of life. From needing to eat every three hours to ensuring that the mother never rolls over a member of her new litter it happens accidentally, but frequently , a rare French bulldog puppy requires round the clock attention that most caregivers just do not have and are not ready to provide with. On top of all that, the normal vet bills, cost of medications, toys price, food price, shelter and play area make upbringing a French bulldog a difficult and expensive endeavor. However, despite their high price tag, pups of all kinds and colors—miniature, teacup toy and French English bulldog mix, French bulldog Boston terrier mix and French bulldog Shih Tzu mix—are wonderful dogs that love their owner. Both genders united, male as female, are relatively low maintenance, enjoy lying around the house all day and will be there to cuddle with you any time of day or night. With a personality that ranges from rambunctious and playful to calm and loving to times of complete stoicism, Frenchies have an extremely expressive personality, making them the perfect companion for dog lovers. For this reason, people who live in small spaces or an apartment complex often choose this breed as their breed of choice. They make a super company. Moreover, this breed—especially the miniature bulldogs or teacup French bulldog Boston terrier mix puppies—are small enough to be held without issue. They can jump themselves up onto just about any piece of furniture and are just happy to lay on your lap all day. However, as with all creatures, there will be instances where your bulldog will display aggression or anger. It is up to you to determine what made them feel angry in the first place and to correct the cause. Caring for Your Cute French Bulldog As stated on American Kennel Club site, a French bulldog does not need a lot of exercise and in general, has fairly low energy levels. However, with that in mind, they do still need exercise to maintain a healthy weight. Short walks or fun playtime in a small yard is just the right amount of exercise that every bulldog needs and loves. They are not so high energy that they need a large play space to roam around in. An important thing to keep in mind is that bulldogs are prone to heat exhaustion and should not be taken out for exercise in high temperatures. Limit exercise and playtime to cool mornings and evenings. When training your Frenchie puppy, keep in mind that they are stubborn and may not respond to typical training techniques. Additionally, French bulldog puppies are not above chewing on your stuff or going to the bathroom in the house. You will still need to train your puppy to not chew on things that could harm them or that you do not want destroyed, as well as crate train them until they are fully housetrained. Feeding Most bulldogs eat 1 to 1. However, each dog is different, and how much you feed your adult bulldog will depend on his size, age, build, metabolism and activity level. Like people, dogs are individuals with their own individual needs. Grooming Because of their short hair, Frenchies are low maintenance and fairly easy to groom. They simply need an occasional brushing to keep their coat luxurious and healthy. When grooming your pup, check his skin for any bare spots, scabs, lesions, signs of infection or rough and flaky skin. Additionally, check his eyes, ears and teeth for any discharge or bad smells. If you notice anything unusual, take your dog into the veterinarian right away, as these pets are known for having health issues. Never stick the cotton swab inside of the canal entirely. Dogs with this condition will exhibit pain and lameness in one or both rear legs, and can even develop arthritis over the course of life. Hemivertebrae: Hemivertebrae is a condition that is characterized by a malformation of one or more vertebrae. Though it can cause no pain to a dog, it can do the exact opposite for others and result in pain, weakness or even paralysis. Allergies: This breed is susceptible to food-based allergies, contact allergies and inhalant allergies a like, so keep an eye out for any reaction to anything new your pup has been introduced to. This can cause lameness or an abnormal limp. However, it is present at birth, which is something that any reputable breeder should inform you about. Cleft Palate: A cleft palate is characterized by a slit that runs bilaterally or unilaterally from the roof of the mouth to the nasal and oral cavities. It can be small in size to very large; the size of the cleft may mean a difference between a dog that survives to one that does not. When this happen, nerve transmissions become inhibited, causing chronic pain and discomfort. It may even result in temporary paralysis. Purchasing your puppy from a good breeder can significantly reduce your risk of getting a French bulldog with certain problems. Ask your breeder about the health of the parent dogs, as well as for complete medial records. Adopt Versus Buying French Bulldog Puppies for Sale Because French bulldog puppies are so expensive, many people try to adopt through shelters and other adoption agencies. While this is a very altruistic thing to do, it is not very wise. Unfortunately, most Frenchies that have been put up for adoption have extensive medical problems that are unlikely to be resolved even after extensive and costly medical treatment. In the end, an adopted bulldog ends up costing the adoptive parent three times more than one purchased from a reputable breeder. At CT Breeder, we are by no means against adopting a dog and saving a life, but French bulldogs found at shelters are almost always un-savable, and it would not do you or them any good to take them home only to discover that you do not have the means to keep up with their sky high medical bills. How to Select a Reputable Breeder Breeding French bulldogs is a difficult and expensive process and this kind of challenge is certainly not for everyone. In many cases, they will try to sell them anyway, just to get their money back. For this reason, you want to be extremely wary when shopping. Check your AKC community should you have more questions. At CT Breeder, we advise hopeful pet owners to do the following when looking for the right close seller, even that is not AKC registered: Contact Breeders: When contacting the seller, ask to see credentials and for pictures of past litters, registration documents. Ask about their breeding and post-birth process to determine whether or not they are actually worth meeting with. Visit the Breeders: Once you have spoken with them over the phone, narrow down your list of possible candidates, then schedule an in-home visit. Make note of every detail of the place, and look out for cleanliness, adequate food and water and proper toys. If you notice more than one dog breeding simultaneously, that should alert you as you may be at a puppy mill. Look Out for Puppy Mills: Puppy mills are sellers that breed several dogs at once just so they can make a quick buck. Request Documentation: Responsible breeders will be able to provide adequate medical records for the pup from a veterinarian. If they refuse, stay away. Finally, always thoroughly investigate or browse the seller about any potential health problems, family history and any other questions or concerns about your future puppy. The best breeders will be willing to address any and all concerns, while puppy mills will shy away from even your most basic questions. Finally, keep in mind the following last-minute tips: French bulldogs are not outdoor dogs, as the heat causes stress and overheating. Never leave your Frenchie alone in the car. They are social, so bring them to the dog park and let them socialize with your friends! In addition to our selection of designer and purebred puppies for sale, we offer expert dog training, professional pet grooming and the best pet supplies, pet foods and pet products available at the low prices. Any communication will come through email. I am looking for a family that would love me as much as I will love them! I was unfortunately in a car accident a few months ago that left me with some gait instability. At first, I was paralyzed in my hindlegs. But I underwent two spinal surgeries and after some long, hard recovery, I am now able to walk short distances! With some help with my balance, I can go even further! Not to toot my own horn, but I quickly became a neighborhood favorite! My other challenge is occasional bladder and bowel incontinence. When the accident happened, at first, I lost complete control of both, and needed to be expressed. But I appreciate you being understanding about my recovery. When I pee, I need a little help from someone holding my waist as I walk around the backyard to relieve myself. When I poop, I usually need a sling under me for mild support. I love everyone I meet dogs, cats and children! I do fine when left home alone. I wander the house and am smart enough to know not to go into rooms I am told not to be in, not to jump onto any furniture, and not to chew up any toys. But I prefer spending most of my time with my family if possible. And I enjoy that time even more if we spend it together outdoors. I am smart, adapt quickly, and learn new rules and routines well. Please give me a chance! Please contact my family today at to arrange to meet me. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets mpravl. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. September 14, , pm.

Breeders VS. The sad truth is that many pet store purchased pups actually come from puppy mills. Basically, there is zero authenticity with pet stores. You also cultivate a life-long relationship with the breeder, meaning support is available to you anytime you may need it. With My Golden Retriever Puppies , you have the option to come and visit both the puppy and the breeder in person! Golden Retrievers are an adaptable breed, meaning they are better at adapting to seasonal changes and various types of climate than certain other breeds. Your pup deserves better than that, which is why here at My Golden Retriever Puppies , we ensure high-quality care is taken of your pet at all times. For more about the true price of a golden retriever puppy, you can read our full price breakdown here. Our small network of breeders in Ohio all are dedicated to the same principles. This starts by providing carefully-planned breedings to ensure the best pedigree for our pups. They raise healthy, socialized pups that can make a smooth transition to a new home. Most of our breeders actually have young children at home who help raise the puppies and play with them so they can become socially adjusted. How do I leave a review of my Golden Retriever experience?

Let us provide you with a Labradoodle puppy and a forever friend. About Us The start! Tonia LeFrancois owner of Triangle Labradoodles started this dream with family in mind! Her son was born with several allergies that would keep him from having a puppy. Tonia feels that every little childs life is not complete with out a puppy. After months of research we found the Australian labradoodle to be the best fit for us. With the help of Jenny Blume at Swinging gate kennels we provided our family a loving female named Aspen. Aspen stole every heart in the family and know her son has his best friend! Now we would like to offer that option to others so they too can have a dog in their family. This is why here at Triangle Labradoodles we want to provide quality pets to other familes that need a best friend. With this in mind all puppies here at Triangle labradoodles are raised in our home with 3 children as part of our family so they will fit in well with yours. Staying true to the vision of those who founded this incredible breed is an important element of our breeding philosophy. A proud member of the Australian Labradoodle Club of America, it is our goal to provide the most loving environment possible for our puppies. We will only work with the best breeders available to provide the highest quality and healthiest doodles around. We will strive for a low volume high quality approach for producing puppies. We are not a kennel and all puppies are raised in our home as part of the family. The Australian Labradoodle is different from all other labradoodles. Dogs from this cross typically were bred to each other over future generations, whereby the Australian dogs are also know as "Multi-generational" Labradoodles. The resulting labradoodles subsequently have been bred to each other, continuing the multi-generational tradition. Even when the other types of Labradoodles are bred on for generations, the result is not an Australian Labradoodle, as the attributes of the infused breeds were not included in their ancestry. The Australian Labradoodle Club of America was founded exclusively to foster and protect the original Australian Labradoodles that have come directly from Tegan Park and Rutland Manor breeding stock, or their offspring. Our mission is to maintain and improve the quality and soundness of the Australian Labradoodles, and to carefully monitor the further development of the breed. All member breeders are carefully screened to help ensure the future of the Australian Labradoodle. Our member breeders must breed to the highest standards. We have Breeder Mentors to assist member breeders and to help new breeders get off to a good start. The goal was to join with breeders across America in the development of a pure breed dog and to unite these breeding programs for one common cause, the preservation of the Authentic Australian Labradoodle. Our breed is in its final stage and is renowned for its amazing traits and has proven to be consistent and reliable. Its intuitive nature, uncanny ability to sense and in some cases self teach the art of being a medical alert dog, the direct eye to eye contact and their desire to please makes them one of the most trainable dogs in America. This breed is hypoallergenic, non shedding and is one of the most sought after dogs in America. Our goal is to protect and improve the breed health as we move towards pure breed status. Contact Us. Thanks for visiting our site. Since , we have been breeding Standard sized multigenerational Australian Labradoodles ranging in adult weights of 45 to 90 pounds and 19 to 26" tall. We selectively breed for companion dogs- perfect family pets. We are not a kennel, we have four female dogs live with us. All other dogs listed on our website live with qualified guardian families that care for the dogs as their family pet, and realize the special responsibility associated with a top quality breeding program. Once a dog is retired from Lucky Country, they return to live out their lives as pets with their guardian family. Our program is small by choice, breeding litters only when there is a demand, and one litter at a time so that we can personally raise the pups. We do not employ outside care, feeling that a personal involvement is best. Not an employee. We are not a kennel. By keeping things small and personal, our pups are optimally socialized and handled to give them the best start possible. There is no Australian Labradoodle Breeder that has more extensive testing on the parents prior to breeding. We will gladly provide you with independent organizations that will verify our health and genetic testing. We are happy to answer any questions that you have. We are proud of our program and what we do. All of our dogs are registered with the Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association. As members, all of our dogs meet or exceed the testing requirements of this organization prior to breeding. The Australian Labradoodle is amazingly versatile. Our breed is well represented in therapy and service, agility, obedience, and even hunting and field trials. While our lines have representatives in all of these fields, our goal is simple. To have simply the best family pet companion you could ever ask for. Welcome to the Dood Ranch! They are intelligent, dedicated, patient, and of course, have that adorable teddy bear look that attracts so many. Our mission is to raise dogs that represent the breed standards of the Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association. Our dogs are selectively bred for their temperament and structure, through stringent health testing of the parents; we breed to the highest health standards available. Our puppies are born and raised in our home with individualized care and attention. When you are ready to add the next furry family member, we are here for you! Dedicated to uniting breeders throughout the world with the common goal of improving the breed. All members must abide by a strict code of conduct, and meet stringent health testing for all of their dogs. Good Dog We are affiliated with GoodDog. Good Dog screens all breeders to assure that best practices are met that protect the buyer and the seller, but most importantly, the dog. Take a look at their screening process here. Spay Secure follows up with your veterinarian to assure that you are protecting your pups hormones. Let's keep in touch! Updates on "All Things Dood"! Email Address. Sweetly Retired Stormie G. We take so much pride in our doodles. They are the funniest, smartest, cutest, little guys, so much personality. Bred for their wonderful temperament, intuitive nature and overall character; they are non-shedding and don't carry doggie odors. They undergo temperament testing and a host of socialization opportunities are provided as grands come and go, neighbors drop by for cuddles, kitchen noises, loud televisions, children running about, birds singing and dogs barking; extra cuddles, visits by the other doodle family members and on and on. All of our dogs live here in the house with us. Guardian puppies live with their own loving families but visit often. Mama doodles are whelped here and baby doodles are appropriately exposed to a busy family lifestyle. All of our doodles receive the best in health care, as puppies themselves, before breeding, during and after, because we quite simply just love them to pieces and they deserve it. They have a team of vets, health testing, repoduction management, attend NC State Therinology clinic for ultrasounds, progesterone testing, cardiac testing, etc. So if you see a tear drop or two as you close the door, know that it is the love that has been there before. Sweet puppy of mine you'll always be, heartbreak it is to say goodbye to thee, know that my prayers are with you and your new family. Blessings sweet puppy. We wanted a well-bred puppy, that would be a healthy, happy, member of our family. Fisher has exceeded our expectations. Not only did she ensure an excellent pedigree, she took the utmost care of the pups, after they were born. Thanks to her socialization, the beginning of crate and house training, and tons of love, Fisher acclimated to our home and family right away. We got a steady stream of videos and pictures, as well as results from temperament testing. We knew him before we ever brought him home and she even had us send items that had our scent, to familiarize him with us! Communication was open and encouraged. The whole process was something we'll always treasure. Labradoodles are great dogs and Lake Blue is a great breeder, worthy of these pups. Willa's litter Stormie's litter. Stephanie is available for advice for as long as you might need. They love their dogs and show commitment to the betterment of the breed in everything they do. But how can you spot reputable breeders when you start searching for a Pug puppy? Here are some tips to help you out. A good breeder will… 1. Issue a health guarantee Make sure that your breeder of choice offers a health guarantee. A reputable Pug breeder will write up a binding health guarantee for all of their puppies. The guarantee protects you against any genetic defects or diseases. It shows that the breeder is confident that their puppies are bred according to best practices. This means if you can no longer look after your pup for some reason, you will be expected to return the puppy to the breeder rather than taking them to a shelter. Provide standard health clearances Your breeder should have full health clearances for both parent Pugs. Good breeders often provide some early health-check clearances for their pups too, although some health clearances simply cannot be carried on such young pups. Issue a written bill of sale Reputable breeders offer written bills of sale to all of their new Pug parents. This bill of sale should be signed and will outline all the roles and responsibilities to be taken on by the buyer and seller as part of the transaction. Vaccinate their puppies All puppies should be up to date on their vaccinations before being homed with new families. Your breeder of choice should be able to provide evidence of these vaccinations. Reputable breeders welcome prospective parents into their homes to see the puppies. Follow age guidelines Puppies should never leave the litter before 8 weeks of age. Any breeder offering pups for adoption before this time is not following best practices. In fact, this could be quite damaging for the puppy developmentally. A reputable breeder will keep their pups at home until eight to twelve weeks so that they can be properly socialized and spend that crucial time with their mother and litter-mates. Answer your questions Last, but not least, a reputable breeder will be knowledgeable. In most cases, they will also want to ask you plenty of questions to ensure that their precious pups are going to good homes. We have a strict selection process that takes a variety of factors into account. That way we can ensure that only the best breeders end up on our lists. This way we know that our chosen breeders offer genetically sound and healthy puppies. Health testing shows a commitment to the health and wellbeing of each Pug. Contact information Any breeder that does not offer up their contact information is a big red flag. A reputable breeder will make it easy for you to get in contact with them by providing telephone numbers, email addresses, and they will usually have a well-established website as well. It shows a commitment to breeding best practices. Event participation Breeders who also compete in doggie events are often some of the best. Because these people tend to be dog lovers par excellence. They live and breathe for their Pugs and are proud to show them off in public. They are also more likely to have a high level of breed knowledge — an excellent sign for a breeder. Breed club membership There are lots of breed clubs out there that breeders can register with. These clubs have rules, regulations, and membership fees. If your breeder is registered with the Pug Dog Club of America, this is a great sign showing commitment to the Pug breed. Recognition awards Lastly, we look out for awards! Institutions like the AKC recognize the efforts and achievements of top breeders. The very best will be awarded the AKC recognition of merit award. During this time we recommend getting everything ready before your new arrival rattles through the front door. Your puppy will need: a crate for sleeping and training during the early days quality puppy-grade food a leash and harness plenty of toys You may also wish to purchase a puppy gate if there are areas of your home that you want to keep your Pug away from. This is all about making your home as safe as possible for your new arrival. Make sure anything that could potentially cause harm to your pup is removed. Clear your schedule Having a Pug puppy is a bit like having a human baby. So make sure to clear your schedule and get all of those errands done ahead of time! Once they arrive… 4. Avoid crowds Hold your excitement. That means no crowds. Try to keep the home environment as stress-free as possible so that your puppy can settle in and start to feel part of the family. Crate training is the first step. Lay down a regular routine from the get to and your Pug will be good as gold in no time.

We are already thinking of another o.These Boxers are amazing. Top of the line Their temperament, their disposition, their health.I have 3 amazing boxer babies from t.Life Span Did You Know? The Boxer is one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States. It has been recognized by the AKC since .Although the Boxer dog breed originated in Germany, their ancient ancestry can be traced back to the Assyrian empire war dogs of BC. The modern Boxer breed we know and love today was originally developed in Germany in the late s. English-bred Bulldogs and the Bullenbesiier were crossed to create an energetic and agile hunting dog to chase wild game. The Boxer is a popular family companion and a versatile working dog. As a member of the Working Group, Boxers can be found competing in dog sports like agility, obedience, and herding. They also make great service and assistance dogs, as well as therapy dogs, and can be found working as search and rescue dogs, drug detection dogs, police dogs, and military dogs. The Boxer is a muscular and energetic dog that tends to have a happy, friendly disposition. They bond closely with their families and tend to get along well with children and other dogs. They can even do well with other pets despite their high prey drive if they are socialized and trained with them. As long as they are well-socialized, Boxers are generally upbeat, playful, and friendly. Although they have a natural instinct to protect their family from unwanted visitors, they do tend to warm up once introduced and are happy to make a new friend. They can be prone to barking a lot if you do not work on socialization and training your dog to stop barking early on. Boxers can be highly adaptable dogs. Although they have a lot of energy and are better suited to homes with yards where they can run, they can adapt to apartment living as long as they get the daily exercise, attention, and mental stimulation they need. As with any non-arctic dog breed, they are sensitive to very cold temperatures. Boxers are also a brachycephalic breed, which means they are even more sensitive to heat than other dogs. A Boxer is also one of the most affectionate dog breeds. Because they bond so closely with their families and get bored easily, they should not be left alone for long periods of time. Potential health conditions to be aware of in a Boxer include hip dysplasia, degenerative myelopathy, thyroid issues , and heart conditions like aortic stenosis and cardiomyopathy. Good breeding practices make a big difference and reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. So, make sure you are asking the breeder about the health and genetic history of the parents and about any health tests that have been done. Boxers are intelligent dogs that are eager to please their owners. Despite their energetic personality, they are one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners and are highly trainable dogs. They tend to excel at almost any task put before them! Because of their open, friendly nature and high energy, they have a tendency to jump up at people in excitement and playfulness. Since they grow into powerful dogs, you will want to make sure you train your dog not to jump up. Boxers have smooth and short coats that will shed a little year-round and require minimal grooming. A brush-down once or twice a week and the occasional bath as needed will keep their short coat healthy and looking great. Nail trims once or twice a month are usually enough to keep nails from growing too long. Checking ears weekly and carefully cleaning as needed can help prevent ear infections. Checking and wiping their facial wrinkles weekly or a few times a week if your dog is prone to getting into things can help keep their wrinkles clean and free of irritation. Dental diseases, like gum disease, are the most common health issues in older dogs because dental care is often overlooked; and, it can lead to other serious health issues. Brushing daily, plus cleanings at the vet when needed, is ideal. The Boxer is a high-energy dog breed that needs plenty of daily exercise to stay happy and healthy. Due to their high prey drive and urge to chase, they should only be let off-leash in secure areas. Boxers tend to get bored with repetition, are excellent problem solvers, and are naturally exuberant. A fully-grown Boxer usually stands inches tall at the shoulder and weighs pounds. Boxers generally live years on average. In Germany, the Boxer was one of the first dog breeds chosen for police training. Featured Boxer Article.

Things to Think About When Considering Standard Poodle Adoption If you are contemplating Standard Poodle adoption, you owe it to yourself and your potential new companion to understand this breed's needs. Standards are generally happy, outgoing, and intelligent pets, but they also require a bit more maintenance than the average dog. These Dogs Need Exercise: Standard Poodles are fairly large dogs with a great deal of energy to spare. They need daily exercise and mental stimulation to be happy. Poodles Must Be Groomed: Poodle hair grows continually throughout these dogs' lives. In addition to home grooming, plan to take them to a professional regularly. There are a ton of great rescue groups active on social media, including Facebook, but not all are reliable. Watch for these traits to determine if a group is focused on rescue and has a good reputation. Transparency: Make sure the organization is transparent. Legitimate rescues openly share information about operations, including the adoption process, medical treatments provided, and the animal's living conditions. Check nonprofit status: Check if the organization is registered as a non-profit and has a clear, reputable record. Watch out for too many purebred dogs: Be wary of rescues that always have a high number of popular or purebred dogs available. It could be a puppy mill disguised as a rescue. Outrageous fees: Out of the ordinary adoption fees without an explanation, like past medical expenses, could be a red flag. Check reviews and comments: Always research reviews, look for recommendations, and watch for warnings. Maybe someone had to move, the dog's owner passed away, or the dog has a health issue. Don't hesitate to ask why the dog is up for adoption and what steps they have taken to to correct or treat any issues the dog might have. A reputable shelter won't hesitate to share this info. Taking the time to sort these issues out means you have a better chance of finding the right dog for you. Think about it: all of our dogs have been abandoned at least once in their lives. Please Note: We can only adopt in Florida, since we require a home visit. Visit petfinder. By adopting a poodle or poodle mix from Coastal Poodle Rescue, you will be providing a loving and safe forever home to a very deserving dog. Every day in Florida, over 2, homeless pets are killed. Many more are abandoned, some after years of abuse or neglect, or after having served in puppy mills or backyard breeding operations. In most cases, this does not begin to cover the medical expenses incurred. All dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested for heartworms and intestinal parasites. Home visits and interviews help us determine the kind of dog that will best fit your home environment and lifestyle. Filling out an adoption profile does not guarantee adoption nor does it obligate you to adopt a poodle. Some dogs have special needs, so not all dogs will be a good match for every home. You must not take for granted that the Poodle has been taught to live with people. Our rescues come from a lot of different situations, but even the most loved pet has learned how to live with a different set of rules than they will be given in a new home. All rescues have baggage, and we will do our best to be up front about what we know about our dogs. We will only place a rescue in a home where we believe it will have a good chance of successfully integrating with its new people. When we take in a rescue Poodle, we will groom it. Sometimes that is the first introduction to the grooming tools, so training starts at that time. Sometimes our rescues have never been leash trained, and we will work on that as well. We recommend that the new owner enroll in an obedience class with their rescue Poodle. This will help the dog bond more quickly to you and helps you to become a confident owner. We make sure the Poodle is spayed or neutered before it goes into a new home. No matter the age of the Poodle that you adopt, you must begin its routine and schedule as if you had just brought home a young puppy. Rescues will exhibit anxiety when left alone so begin crate training immediately. Dogs usually learn to love their crates as their safe den, and the crate will keep the dog safe when you are not around. It will also give you peace of mind that your house will be intact when you return. Members of the Poodle Club can give you advice on crate training. Rescued Poodle Stories: One of our members traveled with her job. She found Poodles at various times that needed to be re-homed. When we groomed her, the coat was so matted it came off in one piece, similar to shearing a sheep wool. She scared away a burglar her first night in the home. Another of our rescues, lost in a storm, was taken to a veterinary office with a compound fracture of the leg. No other rescue group had the dollars to pay for fixing the leg. Our group was called. We ascertained the options for repairing the leg and choose the less expensive option because one of our members could foster the Poodle and take care of the leg. The leg healed and the Standard Poodle could run and jump normally again. He was adopted by a loving family. One of our members adopted a miniature Poodle from the local animal shelter. It had been hit by a car and was dragging a front leg. Our member took it to a private veterinarian where the leg was x-rayed and checked. Another member bought a lovely Standard Poodle but felt she needed a playmate. Ahluv was happy being an only poodle, but seemed to miss playing with other dogs. After much search we found Annie, a young female Standard Poodle in the St. Louis area that really touched our hearts. The couple knew when they saw and read about her that she belonged with their family. After many e-mails to the rescue, who agreed to do an out of state adoption, and prayer, they went on an adventure RV trip to St. Louis during a heat wave in August to pick up Annie. AhLuv was the happiest dog the rescue people had ever met which may have been helpful in easing their minds and letting Annie go back to New Mexico. Annie is the sweetest dog. After much love and attention, one would never know she has any problems. She can run, jump, give AhLuv a run for her money, eats well, sleeps well, plays well, travels well and takes walks well. Stella was adopted at one year old. Stella has gotten her Canine Good Citizen and rally Excellent title. We have fun in canine free style dancing. Agility is her next career. Such a very good girl! This 2-year-old Standard Poodle weighs 51 lbs. Are you looking for a big ole cuddly teddy bear? Then Marley is your guy! General Behavior: Marley is a happy and outgoing boy who is always prepared for lots of snuggles and play. He is super lovable and is sure to greet each person he meets with that silly, toothy smile of his. Although Marley loves to play, he is a fairly laid-back pup for his age. He will take advantage of the naps he can get while lying at his humans feet and will certainly take any hugs, rubs, and cuddles he can get. He can often be found following his foster family around the house asking for pets or for their participation in his favorite…a game of fetch! Marley does feel quite uncomfortable when separated from his trusted people when he knows they are home. When you are home, he wants to be right by your side. Training: Marvelous Marley has shown off his house training skills in his foster home and once settled, will let you know when he needs to go out. He is very well-behaved and has great basic manners, he is very eager to please. He also walks well on a leash. Medical: Marley has bilateral hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis in his right hip. However, he has no current hind limb lameness. He is still an active and playful pooch and is not affected by his diagnosis at this time. He has not yet been introduced to any cats but we think he would do fine with them. Children: Marley is a gentle giant and is cautious with kiddos. A home with children would be okay. Home: Marley is such a sweet guy with the most loving personality. He is very respectful of the home he resides in and would do well in both a sizable apartment and a single-family home. His ideal family would be an active one that can provide him with the activity that he requires and of course, play a couple of games of catch with him every day. Grooming: As a Standard Poodle, Marley will require regular visits to the groomer every weeks. Any potential families should be aware of this recurring expense. Overall: Marley will make a wonderful addition to an active and loving family. Are you the one for Marley? Then visit our website www. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered.
