All puppy breeders have an obligation to ensure healthy and often-permanent developmental qualities brought out within the first several weeks of a puppy's life, and putting that responsibility into practice is exactly what sets a reputable Goldendoodle breeder apart. At ABCs Puppy Zs, our commitment to the lifelong wellness of your Goldendoodle begins just after birth, spans until Go-Home, and involves a nurturing and attentive regimen founded in Puppy Culture. Our combination of evidence-based techniques, puppy science and unwavering diligence speaks for itself — as you watch your Goldendoodle puppy grow into a healthy, sociable and loving dog! There's no shortage of love and affection at our family-raised Goldendoodle puppy household, where puppy moms are always comfortable, fed with healthy and nutritious foods , and treated like members of the family — which they are! Our Goldendoodle puppy moms always have access to privacy in a quiet and relaxing place and are monitored very closely at all stages of their pregnancies for any concerns or complications. Our close relationships with first-rate local veterinarians, access to medical technologies and a deep understanding of the dog pregnancy and birthing process ensures that every pup arrives safe and healthy — and ready to take on the world! Early Neurological Stimulation ENS Early Neurological Stimulation is a proven technique designed to improve a puppy's developmental health into adulthood. The window of opportunity for performing ENS is limited to within the first several weeks of a puppy's life, making it the breeder's responsibility to perform ENS regularly. ENS has been shown to improve a puppy's physical and emotional health, performance and demeanor with often lifelong benefits. These include cardiovascular benefits, adrenal benefits, stress tolerance and even stronger immune systems. ENS is safe and simple, and involves little more than holding the puppy in certain positions — and tickling their little toes! Introducing Solid Food Transitional Goldendoodle puppies at ABCs Puppy Zs go through a scheduled solid-food transition using a combination of goat milk and raw weaning for optimal nutritional and developmental benefits. Puppies are closely monitored as they gradually transition from lapping goat milk to eating a mixed gruel of organic muscle meats and other nutritional foods such as banana and canned pumpkin over a period of several weeks until they are able to chew on large bones by 8 to 10 weeks. Puppy Socialization Socialization is one of the most important steps in Puppy Culture and offers tremendous lifelong benefits to any dog breed. The first 12 weeks of a puppy's life are considered a sensitive developmental period and are a wonderful opportunity to foster socialization — as they will spend most of their time surrounded by people and other pups! Puppy socialization typically begins at around three weeks when they begin to react to sounds and ends around weeks when they have become generally accustomed to the world around them. With proper puppy socialization, pups can experience developmental benefits of emotional wellness, communication, habituation, bonding, enrichment, performance and overall health. Three to Four Weeks Old This is a time of excitement and exploration for puppies, who are beginning to notice new objects and environments around them along with the social benefits of being in a person's loving arms. By four weeks old, puppies under our care are taking part in adorable problem-solving activities, being introduced to new objects every day, meeting new people regularly, and playing fun training games. Distributed Learning Puppies under 12 weeks old can greatly benefit from distributed learning activities that involve crate training, potty training, chew training and other puppy training exercises designed to teach good traits and behavior. Our distributed learning sessions are timed in regard to the puppy's mood, energy levels — and always involve plenty of breaks, treats and massages! Five Weeks Old Around five weeks of age, puppies typically begin to experience fear imprinting as their fear response instincts come into play. This is a sensitive period for puppies and is best handled professionally with the intent of triggering their fear response in a gentle way, which helps puppies adapt to this new emotion and grow into confident dogs. Fear imprinting exercises are brief and never designed to do more than give puppies a gentle apprehension or surprise to changes in their surroundings, such as having tarp over their play pen, hearing noisy crinkly bags, and being startled by shiny surfaces. Every exercise is immediately followed by a recovery period and always in line with the puppy's comfort levels to prevent emotional distress. Any Goldendoodle puppies that show an intense disposition to fear are worked with individually and at their own speed until their fear imprinting is safely achieved. Six Weeks By six weeks old, puppies are beginning to overcome their fear response — which is turning into curiosity! This is a great time for puppies to meet some new faces friendly people and animals only! We go to great lengths to create positive experiences that leave puppies socially inclined and ready to make new friends, such as having puppy parties with lots of play, some fun rotation games, and plenty of company so pups can become accustomed to new faces and smells. Health Testing We perform regular breed-specific health checkups on our pups as well as their parent dogs through AKC parent clubs to monitor for any susceptible health risks, complications or diseases and ensure a long and healthy life. Potty Training The puppy potty training process should not begin until after 12 weeks of age, but puppies can still benefit from some attentive and professional care surrounding potty time well before training. Puppies typically show signs of an incoming potty break and can begin to associate potty time with being outdoors early in life thanks to the attention and quick action of professional breeders. Our puppies are moved to a larger weaning pen around six weeks of age and we typically know when puppies will need to potty, such as 10 minutes into a play session, 15 minutes after eating, when they wake up, if they suddenly stop what they're doing and start sniffing around, and other signs to take the opportunity of an outdoor break in a safe environment where puppies can develop a psychological association with going potty and being outdoors. Puppy Biting At ABCs Puppy Zs, we use gentle and proven techniques to nip puppy biting in the bud and help them outgrow it as quickly as possible while in the care of their new family. Chewing is very healthy for a puppy and essential to the development of strong teeth and jaws, but left unchecked, a puppy can carry bad habits such as nipping hands into adolescence. Puppy biting correction is one of our many puppy training routines and involves plenty of chew toys, positive reinforcement and calm interactions designed to help puppies outgrow biting quickly and naturally. Resource Guarding Even puppies under 12 weeks old can show signs of resource guarding, such as guarding their food, toys, a bone, or even their owner's lap. We perform resource guarding training activities that typically involve yummy treats and positive reinforcement to condition puppies out of being overly stingy — and show them that sharing is caring! Body Handling Puppies familiarized with body handling from an early age will be much more comfortable with belly rubs as they grow up! We perform gentle body handing from birth such as touching their little ears, tails and toes every day as a socialization technique that can make future touches from adults and children much more unsurprising and welcome. Puppy Evaluation We love to see how our pups are coming along around the 7-week mark with a puppy temperament test which verifies that our best intentions are working. Puppy evaluations are always performed in between milestones such as before fear imprinting for a clear representation of the puppy's temperament and best results. This test typically involves the puppy being placed in the company of a stranger in an unfamiliar setting to gauge their reaction for fear, aggression or shyness. Around 7 weeks, a well-nurtured and socialized puppy should react to a new person and surrounding in a happy and comfortable manner. Eight to Ten Weeks Old By 8 to 10 weeks, puppies may experience a renewed sense of fear which may be strong, brief or unnoticeable. We keep close observation of our puppies during this time and take notice of and remove any fear triggers while keeping them in a safe and friendly environment to reduce fear. By 10 weeks, the renewed fear imprint should subside and puppies can resume supervised socialization. Puppies at this age are busy preparing for placement in their new forever homes. Our puppies are normally ready for their new family between 10 and 12 weeks of age, by which time they've produced an immune response to their vaccines and have been nurtured and socialized through their most sensitive developmental period. It's important to note that between weeks, puppies are still in their critical socialization period and that their new family members should focus on creating happy and healthy social experiences for their pups. Our Puppy Training You'll be pleased to find that our Goldendoodle puppies have already received some basic puppy training by the time they're ready to snuggle up with their new family. This includes puppy recall training, puppy crate training and puppy advanced auto-sit training. Of course, your puppy is still growing — so it's important to follow through on our training progress until your puppy is a good dog! We've got some very useful puppy training resources here on our website to help get you on your way to having a well-behaved, loyal and loving companion. Puppy Leash Walking We can't make any promises at 8 to 12 weeks old, but your puppy will have at least have worn a leash by that age! All our Goldendoodle pups go through some short, fun and basic leash walking attempts in the comforts of our family-raised puppy residence. From time to time, we even have those natural talents who take right to the leash and are easily manageable. We'll be sure to let you know if that's your pup! Running with the Big Dogs Under close supervision and in a safe environment, puppies can benefit from playful interaction with friendly and well-mannered adult dogs. By the time your Goldendoodle puppy is ready to come home from ABCs Puppy Zs, they've already had extensive playtime with our trusted adult dogs and those of our close friends and relatives. We always make sure our pups feel safe around bigger dogs and only encourage these types of social interactions when they don't show fear and at specific time periods of beneficial development. Puppy Vaccination At ABCs Puppy Zs, we do everything possible to ensure a long and healthy lifespan for every pup including the administration of certain Vaccines and Dewormers in accordance with Our Veterinarian, which includes a NeoPar vaccination at 4 weeks, Dewormer at 5 and 7 weeks, and then Nobivac 5-Way administered at 7 and 9 weeks with further scheduled vaccinations beginning at or around 12 weeks by which time most of our puppies are placed with their new families. It is essential for puppies to be vaccinated prior to outdoor socialization and playtime due to the possibility of diseases and illnesses being transmitted among dogs and their environments. Vaccination requirements and laws may vary by region so it's important to get in touch with your local veterinarian to find out which additional vaccines will be necessary for your Goldendoodle puppy. They will also be able to inform you when it's safe to take your puppy outside and interact with other dogs in an outdoor environment. To be on the safe side, you should never expose your puppy to other dogs without first knowing of the dog's health and vaccination status and until after your puppy is fully vaccinated as per your local veterinarian guidelines. Instilling Good Puppy Behavior Puppies learn best through conditioning and positive reinforcements, not punishment or negative reactions. We follow strict guidelines for gentle puppy training and we encourage all future Goldendoodle puppy owners to do the same. This allows your animal to build trust and loyalty as well as a good-natured and well-mannered personality. Puppy training can take a lot of time, patience and treats — but we promise that the journey is worth it and your dog will benefit from all your efforts in the long run! You can do puppy training yourself or enroll your puppy in a puppy training class if you are very busy and in order to ensure the attention they need for this important part of the developmental process. With ABCs Puppy Zs, you can begin a wonderful experience with your very own Goldendoodle while knowing that every health precaution has been taken and that your pup was raised in a loving family environment. A designer cross between a border collie and a standard poodle. Border collies are well known for their intelligence, loyalty, train-ability, and desire to please! Turn on your tv for 5 minutes and you will see a border collie featured in many of the commercials that pop up. Why the standard poodle? The original notion for crossing poodles with other breeds in general is the benefits of their curly non shedding coats, and the cute scruffy or teddy bear-like appearance they produce. But what many people don't realize is that the standard poodle is not the frufru, yippy, entitled breed you have imagined. They are actually the number 2 breed for intelligence after the border collie, and you will not find a more versatile or affectionate, companion! Combining these two breeds is a no-brainer, I'm amazed it has taken this long for this cross to gain popularity. I currently work for Emily at her primary business as a pet stylist, and have for about 3 years now. I'm passionate about dogs and about this amazing cross. I have already produced 2 amazing litters with my Willow Hill Borderdoodle, Ula, and am so excited to introduce our new Willow Hill Border doodle and future mama, Fiona from Menace and Pippen. We are located near beautiful Madison County Virginia where my dogs and pups are a part of my family and are raised inside my home! Why Willow Hill Borderdoodles? These are not backyard science experiments or accidents. I have researched, planned and teamed up with other amazing owners and breeders both near and far, to be able to form the most ideal parent pairs, producing the most fabulous additions to your family! My focus is health and temperament! You will notice that all of our parent dogs are fully health tested for all hereditary illnesses associated with their breed you can view their individual profiles on our hunks and gals pages. Because of my background as a vet assistant, you can be sure these pups are raised correctly; pups leave for their new homes at 8 weeks of age having been de-wormed every 2 weeks, and having a full health check by a licensed Veterinarian and all age appropriate vaccinations. They will also be well socialized and started on potty training. Did I mention all of our pups come with a 2 year health guarantee! If a congenital or hereditary defect is discovered by your vet we will refund or replace your puppy! They love to play games, go on hikes, and be part of the family. Bordoodles love kids and get along well with other animals. They don't usually bark, except to warn of a stranger on your property. Bordoodles are usually hypoallergenic and are low to non-shedding. Bordoodles also excel in agility sports and are super desirable as service dogs due to their high I. We ask that you provide detailed answers whenever possible. Our Bordoodles are very smart, patient, intuitive, and level-headed. These are the ideal traits required in all service dogs regardless of the modality. In addition to our breeding program, Mountain Rose also owns the largest training operation in Utah. In our 8, sq ft facility, located in Morgan, Utah, we specialize in training Bordoodles as well as Sheepadoodles. If you are in need of a service dog, we can help you select a Bordoodle or Sheepadoodle puppy that displays the temperament traits consistent with those found in proven service dogs. You can obtain more information about Bordoodles and Bordoodles service dogs by browsing this site. If you would like to learn more about Sheepadoodle service dogs you can visit www. He can also be a bit stubborn but overall a complete joy. He rings his bell to go out to potty, at only 17 weeks can sit, stay, go down, roll over, leave it when treats are placed on his paws very impressive for a little guy , shake a paw or high 5 and has the best and most entertaining personality. He loves people and from what little interaction he has had with other dogs, seems to love them as well. We couldn't be happier with our newest family member. We really enjoyed meeting all the dogs, especially Flower and Finn. Of course, we also enjoyed the chance to speak with you and your trainers Colton and Daniel. Mountain Rose exceeded our expectations. After getting to play with the dogs in person, learning more about your program and seeing for ourselves how the puppies are being raised, we are even more excited about getting a puppy from Mountain Rose. Our fingers are crossed that Flower comes into heat soon! We also enjoyed seeing the Bordoodles at your daughter's house. Jonathan was very accommodating in showing us all five Bordoodles. They were very excited and fun to meet. Thanks again for your hospitality. She originally had reservations about us buying a Bordoodle. She said that she was unfamiliar with this breed and cautioned us and even advised that we may wish to look at a "purebred" dog. We just wanted to share that with you. He has really fit into our family and it's so fun watching him learn our routine. He's made friends with lots of the neighborhood kids and is super friendly with everyone. I take him to puppy school once a week with our son Carter he's 9 because Carter was having some trouble being the "pack leader" when we first got Gussie, but the puppy school has been great and Gus lights up the second Carter gets off the school bus each day. I attached a couple of pictures for you to see how much he's grown! She's so smart that at 4 months old she can play dead when she is shot with a "bang", she can heal like nobody's business, and she sits like a lady waiting for us to open the door before she goes out or comes in. She gets her treats in her bowl after dinner. All in all she's pretty terrific. He is definitely part of our family and we love him so much. He's such a smart dog! I remember when we first got him, his color was black. You said he would likely lighten up. Here's what he looks like now. They are a crossbreed between the Border Collie and the Poodle, combining the intelligence and herding abilities of the Border Collie with the hypoallergenic coat and charming personality of the Poodle. The exact origin of Bordoodles is still being determined, as with most designer dog breeds. They are believed to have been first intentionally bred in the late 20th century, primarily in Australia and the United States. Breeders aimed to create a dog with the desirable traits of both parent breeds, such as intelligence, trainability, athleticism, and a low-shedding coat. Bordoodle Generations Over time, different generations of Bordoodles have been developed, each with its own set of characteristics and traits. Since both parent breeds are distinctly different, the puppies from this cross exhibit a wide range of traits in appearance and temperament. They may inherit more characteristics from one parent breed over the other or display a balanced blend of features from both breeds. Breeders often backcross with a Poodle to increase hypoallergenic qualities and reinforce herding abilities. F1b Bordoodles tend to have higher predictability of traits compared to F1 Bordoodles. There is a greater chance for traits to stabilize and become more consistent. F2 Bordoodles can still display variations in appearance and temperament due to genetic recombination. Some dogs may resemble one parent more strongly, while others may show a balanced mix of traits. This generation is often sought after for its potential to produce puppies with a more predictable set of traits. By introducing another backcross, breeders aim to refine specific qualities in the offspring, such as coat texture, size, or temperament. Multigenerational Bordoodle A multigenerational Bordoodle refers to a dog that is the result of breeding two or more generations of Bordoodles. Breeding multigenerational Bordoodles aims to establish a more consistent breed standard while retaining the desired traits from the parent breeds. What Does a Bordoodle Look Like? They have a sturdy and athletic physique, combining the agility and grace of the Border Collie with the elegance of the Poodle. They have a moderate yet strong bone structure, giving them a sense of athleticism and agility. Their head is usually rounded with expressive eyes and floppy or semi-erect ears. One of the standout features of the Bordoodle is its coat, which can vary in texture and length depending on the genetic traits inherited from its parents. As for coat color, Bordoodles can have a wide array of variations, including black, white, cream, brown, merle, and combinations thereof. How big will a Border Collie Poodle mix get? Bordoodle typically falls into the medium-sized category. On average, they can reach a height ranging from 12 to 22 inches 31 to 56 cm at the shoulder. The weight of a Bordoodle usually falls between 30 and 60 pounds 14 to 27 kg , depending on various factors such as genetics, diet, and exercise. They inherit traits from both parent breeds, creating a unique blend of characteristics. The Border Collie is renowned for its intelligence, energy, and herding instincts. These dogs are highly trainable, diligent, and thrive when given tasks to perform. They are known for their loyalty and strong bonds with their families. Border Collies are generally alert, responsive, and highly active, requiring regular mental and physical stimulation to prevent boredom and potential behavior issues. Border Collie Conversely, Poodles are highly intelligent, versatile, and often have a balanced temperament. They are known for their friendly nature, adaptability, and eagerness to please their owners. Poodles are usually quick learners and enjoy participating in various activities, such as obedience training, agility, and even water sports. Combining these two breeds in a Bordoodle can result in a dog with a wonderful temperament. Bordoodles are intelligent, eager to learn, and responsive to training. They excel in sports and activities due to their athleticism and agility. They thrive when given mental challenges and excercise. Training a Bordoodle should involve positive reinforcement techniques, such as rewards, praise, and treats. These dogs are highly motivated by positive feedback and will respond well to consistent and structured training methods. Early socialization is crucial for Bordoodles to ensure they develop good manners and become well-adjusted members of society. Are Bordoodles good family dogs? Yes, Bordoodles can be excellent companions for the right family. Their intelligence and trainability make them suitable for families willing to invest time and effort into their training and mental stimulation. However, their high energy levels may not be the best fit for families with a sedentary lifestyle or limited time to dedicate to their exercise needs. Generally, Bordoodles can get along well with children if properly socialized and introduced from an early age. They have a playful nature and can be patient and gentle with kids. However, supervision is always recommended to ensure both the dog and children interact positively and safely. Are they good with other pets? Bordoodles can generally be good with other pets, especially if they are socialized and introduced to them at an early age. Hip Dysplasia: This is a common health issue in many large and medium-sized breeds, including Border Collies and Poodles. It occurs when the hip joint does not develop properly, leading to discomfort and potentially causing arthritis. Regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoiding excessive jumping or strenuous activities can help prevent or minimize the impact of hip dysplasia. Consult your veterinarian for further advice; surgical intervention may be necessary in severe cases. Progressive Retinal Atrophy PRA : PRA is an inherited eye condition that leads to the gradual degeneration of the retina, ultimately resulting in blindness. Regular eye check-ups by a veterinarian can help detect early signs of PRA. Epilepsy: Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurring seizures. While the exact cause is often unknown, it can sometimes be inherited. If your Bordoodle exhibits seizures, consult with a veterinarian who can help diagnose and manage the condition. Allergies: Both Border Collies and Poodles are known to have allergies, and Bordoodles may inherit this predisposition. However, individual dogs may vary, and factors such as genetics, overall health, and lifestyle can influence their lifespan. Providing proper nutrition, regular exercise, routine veterinary care, and a loving environment can contribute to a longer and healthier life for your Bordoodle. How much exercise does a Bordoodle need? Bordoodles typically benefit from at least one hour of exercise per day. This can include activities such as brisk walks, jogging, playing fetch, and engaging in interactive games or training sessions. Fortunately, the Bordoodle is highly adaptable to apartment living, which means you need not worry even if you reside in an urban area with limited access to extensive outdoor spaces. Since Bordoodles have a herding background from the Border Collie parent, mental stimulation is also important for their overall well-being. Puzzle toys, obedience training, and agility exercises can help meet their intellectual needs. How often should you groom a Border Doodle? Bordoodle has a low-shedding coat that requires regular brushing to prevent matting and keep it looking its best. Aim to brush their coat at least two to three times a week, using a slicker brush or a comb to remove any tangles or loose hair. Additionally, regular bathing is recommended every six to eight weeks or as needed, using a mild dog shampoo to keep their coat clean and healthy. Pay attention to their ears, teeth, and nails as well, ensuring they are clean, free of wax buildup, and properly trimmed. What should I feed my Bordoodle? Bordoodle requires a high-quality, balanced diet specifically formulated for active and medium-sized breeds. Look for dog foods that list real meat or fish as the primary ingredient, without fillers or artificial additives. The portion size will depend on factors such as age, weight, and activity level. How Much Does a Bordoodle Cost? Remember that the initial cost of acquiring a puppy is just one aspect of pet ownership. There are additional expenses to consider, including veterinary care, vaccinations, grooming, food, training, and general supplies. Testimonials Wilder, now 3 month old, is awesome. He loves all of us, loves to please, and loves to explore and learn. Several neighbors and friends are jealous, and others have asked to help them with theirs. However, we met one of your older dogs at a restaurant last year, asked the owner about him, and immediately began researching Oregon Bordoodles. She is the most personable, intelligent dog I have ever owned. When we started looking into getting a Bordoodle we were fortunate to find Danielle, who answered all our many questions and worked closely with us throughout the process of picking a puppy and finally bringing our baby home. He is a spunky, energetic, loving dog. He loves to play and he is very brilliant. He can learn tricks in 10 minutes and will remember them forever. All of our lives have changed with his presence, but we would not trade him for any dog! It has been pure ease and love on every step of our journey. Lassie Grace is a love, with over the top energy and enthusiasm for life, hikes miles easily, with daily mile walks. Strong, muscular, guardian of her domain, still very puppy with ongoing training as she matures, never met a stranger human or canine , shining star at the vet and groomer they all love her disposition and they send me compliment notes on the joy she brings into their work space. She is high test energy yet mellows and melts right into you for love, confidently submissive, a total kid dog. The puppies were happy and at play in their warm and loving farm environment. We picked our female, red merle pup and named her Daisy. Danielle has provided us with excellent technical and emotional support as Daisy has grown. We love our year and half year old Bordoodle. Daisy is extremely cheerful, freindly and smart. She enjoys all ages of people, especially children. She is low shedding and rarely barks. As a very active dog, she requires consistent and lively exercise and play. Daisy is a great addition to our family and we love her dearly! Are you wondering what a "Bordoodle" is? Bordoodles are extremely intelligent, friendly and eager to please. They get along well with other dogs and children and are very easy to train. Bordoodles are often referred to as a "designer breed" or "Poodle Hybrid" which is not, technically, true, as all dogs are the same species. Life Span Did You Know? The Bordoodle is a designer dog breed. They are a cross between a Border Collie and a Poodle. Although a hybrid breed can take on any combination of characteristics of one or both of the parent breeds, the Bordoodle tends to be a friendly, affectionate, and loyal family dog. The Bordoodle is a playful, loving, and affectionate family dog. They get along well with children, other pets, and other dogs. They can be protective and initially wary of strangers, but do not tend to be aggressive as long as they have been properly socialized. As with any dog breed, poor socialization or training can result in poor behavior including fear-based aggression. But, these dogs generally have a lively, social, and friendly disposition. Although the Bordoodle tends to have a lot of energy, they can adapt well to just about any living situation. They will do well in large homes with room to roam as well as apartments as long as they get enough exercise, mental stimulation, and attention. They also do well in most climates. As with any dog, they are sensitive to heat and extreme cold. Because Bordoodles bond closely with their families, they thrive on attention and affection. This, paired with the fact that they are easily bored, means they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. A mixed breed can inherit the potential health concerns of one, both, or neither of the parent breeds. For the Bordoodle, potential health concerns to be aware of include allergies, epilepsy , hip dysplasia, and progressive retinal atrophy. Responsible breeders will screen their stock to ensure preventable issues are not being passed on to puppies. Bordoodles tend to be highly intelligent. Although they are eager to please and tend to pick up on things quickly, they are also easily bored. This can pose a challenge for some first-time dog owners. But, overall, the Bordoodle tends to be highly trainable and a good fit for dog owners of all experience levels. They are eager to learn and respond best to positive methods focused on praise and rewards. Puppy training classes are always an option and are a great way to socialize a puppy too. When it comes to coat care, the Border Collie is lower maintenance than the Poodle even though they shed more. You need to be prepared for either type of coat or anything in between with your Bordoodle. The Poodle coat may be low-shedding, but it requires daily brushing and almost monthly grooming in order to stay healthy. The Border Collie coat sheds moderately year-round with heavier shedding sessions twice a year as the seasons change. Brushing a Border Collie is on a weekly basis and bathing is as needed. Weekly ear checks with careful cleaning as needed can help prevent ear infections. The Bordoodle can range from moderate to high energy. Daily walks plus some playtime and time to run should be sufficient to keep this dog happy and healthy. Trips to the dog park, playing frisbee, hiking, running, swimming with your dog , and more can all be great activities for you and your Bordoodle to do together. A fully-grown Bordoodle usually stands inches tall at the shoulder and weighs pounds. A Bordoodle generally lives years. Bordoodle Puppies for Sale.
Categories Dog Fun , Dog Training Boxers, like any other active dog breed, needs their fair share of daily exercise. Swimming may seem like a great option for a sunny day. However, Boxers are heavy-boned dogs with a wide frame. So, can Boxers swim or will they sink? Boxers can and often do enjoy swimming, however, they are at risk while swimming in bodies of water. For this reason, safety precautions are necessary. Plenty of Boxers have successfully become good swimmers. But before you throw your Boxer in the deep end, there are things you should know. Some breeds, such as the Golden Retriever or Chesapeake Retriever, were actually bred to swim. Needless to say, this is not the case with Boxers. And while plenty of Boxers regularly swim, they have clear disadvantages in the water that all owners need to know about before putting them in the pool. In fact, I think the adorable faces are the best part of the Boxer. Specifically, it makes it more difficult for Boxers to breath while treading in water. Dog breeds with these facial characteristics are called Brachycephalic dogs. All of which, should be carefully monitored when put into large bodies of water. However, when these dogs have to tilt their heads upwards while in water, the restriction can be much greater. The unnatural position while dog paddling puts your Boxer at a huge disadvantage while swimming. So, the best way to help them in the water is to provide a life jacket to give them a more natural posture in the water. Weighing in at around 60 pounds and standing roughly 22 inches tall, Boxers are a fairly typical medium dog. Combine that with the difficulty of breathing and you could potentially have a real big problem on your hands. Once again, the best way to counter this problem is to provide them with a life jacket. As you may have guessed, Boxers are not one of them. In fact, they were not purposely bred to be anywhere near water. On the contrary, Boxers were specifically bred for bull-baiting now, an illegal blood sport and later on, as multi-purpose farm dogs. The most successful working Boxers most likely never even played in the nearby lakes! In addition, they pulled carriages for butchers to the slaughterhouses, among many other farm jobs. Can Your Boxer Swim? Whether a Boxer is good at swimming depends on the individual dog. Even whether a Boxer will enjoy a swim will greatly vary. With that said, we surveyed real Boxer owners to ask the question: can your Boxer swim? Responses are collected from various dog forums, including the popular Boxer Subreddit. Real Owner Answers: 1. She knew she loved water the moment we first visited a lake. It was love at first sight for her. My girl will only go as far as getting her toes wet, but will avoid getting her chest wet. My dog will sink and walk along the bottom. She will claw at me when I attempt to teach her how to swim. Still a big improvement from before. I spent a couple hours in the water with him trying to help him keep his front paws under water while paddling. In water, he goes nearly vertical even with a life vest on. Before you start, remember that you should never force your Boxer into the water. After all, Boxers are brachycephalic dog breeds. Anxiety, fear and panic, combined with their unique facial structures will make it even harder to breath while swimming. Here are the steps to getting your Boxer to swim with you in no time! Boxers Need a Life Vest Important! And by equipment, I really only mean a life vest. Even the AKC recommends the use of life vests. Not only will a life vest give your Boxer a nice boost of confidence but it also gives you, the owner, some peace of mind. Unless your dog is already super experienced, I never recommend going without a life vest. A big reason why we recommend a life vest is because novice dog swimmers will only paddle their front feet as the bottom feet looks for the ground. It looks very comfortable for the dog, which is crucial in the beginning stages. Plus, the bright colors makes your dog highly visible. Next, you can fill a portable kid pool or bathroom tub with water and let them literally get their feet wet. Keep in mind, the second step should take a while. Spend multiple days playing in a tub of water prior to the day planned for swimming. Whether a pool or lake, let your dog sniff the water and get used to the sight of the body of water. Start Shallow This seems obvious, but apparently not to every dog owner. Always start with the shallow end first. The quickest way to freak out your Boxer is by throwing the dog into the deep end for the first time. Before getting into the shallow end, make sure the life vest is on at this point. Instead, try bribing them with some delicious treats make sure to only bring the best. As they get closer into the water, or deeper in, make sure to give positive praises along the way. Boxers thrive on positive reinforcement. So, it really helps their confidence by doing so. If your dog has a favorite toy, make sure to bring that with you too. Try throwing their toy into the water. Once your Boxer gets into the water, slowly bribe them to go deeper and deeper. Here are some extra tips from the professionals. PetMD suggests that you always start with a dog leash in addition to the life vest on your Boxer. Not only will it keep your dog from swimming too far out, but it will give both you and your dog an extra sense of security. The best way to get your dog into the water is by getting into the water with them. Dogs learn a lot from their owners. And if your Boxer has a dog-friend that already knows and loves to swim, bring that friend too! Dogs are also great at learning from each other. Tell us in the comments section below, does your Boxer swim? Is your dog good or bad at swimming? Posts you may like:. End results -- your Boxer will learn to have fun and gain confidence! Swimming, whether in a pool or a lake can be very enjoyable form of exercise for both you and your Boxer. It is an excellent way to condition your dog for the show ring, weight loss or for physical therapy in dogs with Degenerative Myelopathy. As with any new physical activity, make sure your dog has a thorough check-up with your veterinarian before starting. Precautions must be taken to ensure your dog's safety. Being deep-chested and tailless, our Boxers need plenty of instruction learning to turn and maneuver in the water. Boxer's do not have the benefit of a rudder tail to help them steer, for example. Invest in a good quality canine life jacket. Fitted properly, the life jacket should fit snugly, which prevents the dog from slipping out of the jacket. I prefer the longer type, as they help to keep the dog's hindquarters afloat. A buckle collar is important so that you can lend guidance and support to your dog, as well as for your use in the event of an emergency. As you will be in the water with your dog, teaching and assisting, I recommend that YOU wear protective clothing, such as jeans and a long sleeved shirt, to prevent being clawed or bruised. To get started, socialize young pups 6 to 8 weeks of age to a running water hose. This will stimulate curiosity and offer a new tactile experience. Small baby pools and shallow lake banks are great places to work with younger dogs in helping them to become comfortable with having their feet and legs submerged. Do not expect your dog to be a "natural". Starting to swim will require your patience and encouragement. It takes more than a few times in the pool or the lake before your Boxer starts to really enjoy himself. If your dog is strongly motivated by toys, use one that floats to coax him into the water. Teaching your dog to safely enter and exit the water is critical. If teaching in a pool, use the stairs to lower your dog into the water each time and as the exit as well. Some suggest that you use a large cone marker or bicycle flag to help visually mark the stair or shoreline exit for your dog. The first time you and your Boxer enter the water, try to make it a positive and pleasant experience. Support the dog's body with your arms underneath his chest and lower him into the water one step at a time. Some dogs will splash wildly around when they first start. This is normal and will soon subside as your dog starts to relax and learn to effectively propel himself through the water. The transitional step, when your Boxer's feet no longer touch the bottom, being totally suspended in the water, is most critical. Float him in front of you as walk around in the water, lending your support with your arm under his belly. Helping your Boxer to keep his front feet under the water will minimize splashing. You may need to repeat this a number of times depending how quickly his level of confidence increases. Once your dog feels, at ease in the water with your assistance, it is s time to let him start on his own. With your support, swim him out into the water or to the center of the pool and point him in the direction of his exit or the shoreline. Guide him to the steps or shoreline and praise heavily. Repeat as many times as needed to build his confidence. Next, encourage him to swim toward you, rather than to the exit or shoreline. Swimming is well known to slow progression, strengthening leg muscles, giving your older Boxer a therapeutic workout. Again, your Boxer should have a thorough check-up by his veterinarian before starting this type of exercise. Chances are, if you are just now introducing your older Boxer to swim, extra patience will be needed, as older dogs wiII not acclimate to the water as easily as the youngsters will. While he is swimming, you will need to lend extra support to his hindquarters. Using the longer type of canine life jacket will help in keeping his back end buoyant. Swimming sessions should be short, but gradually lengthened each time. Some dogs may need to start out for only one minute. Swimming Tips: Never leave your dog unattended around the pool. Teach him the entry and exit. Use a canine life jacket at all times. Swimming is hard work, so keep sessions short and do not overtire your Boxer. Use your dog's favorite floating toy or ball to help motivate him to get in the water. Try to let your Boxer swim with other accomplished swimming dogs. He will learn from them as well. Boxer's will ingest a lot of water while swimming. It is a good idea to allow your dog ample opportunities to relieve himself, long after he has left the pool or lake. By: Tracy L.

It sounds like it could mean any light grey Labradoodle, right? And that is indeed how a lot of people use it. And if so, which one! Silver Labs Part of the problem is that silver Labrador Retrievers and silver Poodles are very specifically defined colors, but they are not the same color. A silver Labrador is a brown dog with a dilute coat. That is, they possess two copies of a recessive dilution gene, which suppresses pigment production in their fur. Since the dilution gene is recessive, a Labrador must inherit a copy from both of their parents for it to take effect. Silver Labradors are born silver colored. Silver Poodles On the other hand, a silver Poodle is a black dog with two copies of a progressive greying gene. The progressive greying gene is incompletely dominant, which means that Poodles only need to inherit one copy from one parent in order for it to take effect. Different versions of the gene behave more and less powerfully as well, depending on their exact molecular structure. So there is a scale of possible color outcomes for fading Poodles, depending on how many copies of the greying gene they inherit, and how powerful each copy is. The bright platinum color described by the Poodle community as silver is the most extreme possibility. So it is likely that all silver Poodles have two copies of the greying gene and powerful ones at that! Other shades of grey On top of all this, there are other shades of grey in both breeds, which owners or observers without an interest in the finer details of color inheritance might also casually describe as silver. What cross produces silver Labradoodles? Someone using the term silver Labradoodle could mean a black or brown coat that is either: dilute faded by the progressive greying gene or both! They are all legitimate combinations. But, some are limited to particular Labradoodle generations. On the other hand, 2nd, 3rd, or multigen Labradoodles can express color dilution, progressive fading or even both, depending on their ancestry! To tell them apart, remember that dogs with color dilution are born already dilute, and dogs with the progressive greying gene start densely pigmented, and fade as they mature. To distinguish between dilute or faded coats with either a black or brown base, you might also come across the terms silver blue Labradoodle black-based dilution or fading or a silver beige Labradoodle brown-based dilution or fading. Why is my chocolate Labradoodle turning silver? They were born densely pigmented, but now the greying gene is starting to take effect, and their coat is clearing. This process starts around 6 weeks old, and takes up to two years to complete. Are silver Labradoodles rare? The genetic balance of probabilities is not stacked against them! This means the availability of silver Labradoodle puppies is driven partly by trends, and demand. Beware of breeders who tell you that a silver coat is rare, and use it to justify a silver Labradoodle cost. Silver Australian Labradoodles Australian Labradoodles are a multigenerational breeding project to turn Labradoodles into a new pedigree dog in their own right. Despite, or perhaps because of, all the ways a Labradoodle can inherit a coat that can be described as silver, none of the officially recognized colors for Australian Labradoodles are known as silver. The closest equivalent is lavender, which is a brown coat with the fading gene. Silver Labradoodle temperament So there are several different ways that grey Labradoodle puppies for sale can end up being described as silver. But do any of them make a difference to their personality? Is one kind of silver Doodle any friendlier or more trainable than another? At the time of writing, there is no known direct genetic link between coat color and temperament. But, an indirect link has developed in some Labrador breeding lines, which could also be reflected in their Labradoodle offspring. Among Labrador Retrievers, black Labs are traditionally much preferred for working gundog roles. As far as we know, black color and working aptitude are genetically independent of each other, but for many generations breeders have gone out of their way to select in favor of both together. Today, this means chocolate Labs are more likely to be described as agitated when ignored, excitable and scared of loud noise than black Labs, and less likely to be described as trainable. These traits could be reflected in a silver beige Labradoodle from chocolate Labrador lines, compared to a silver blue Labradoodle from black Labrador lines. But, there are so many other influences at work such as the individual temperament of both parents, the training they receive from an early age, the amount of physical exercise they get that it would be nearly impossible to quantify exactly how much impact coming from brown Lab lines has had. What you can be sure of is that your Labradoodle will be smart, energetic, and people-focussed. Silver Labradoodle Health Next, what about health? Labs and Standard Poodles are remarkably similar in terms of overall health and life expectancy. They both live for around 12 years on average, and during their lifetime the most common health problems they have are: Hip dysplasia Joint problems in the knees and elbows Thyroid disease Ear infections Autoimmune skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis and sebaceous adenitis Choosing a puppy from health tested parents is the best way to beat avoidable health problems like these. But yet again, the poor chocolate Lab is likely to compare unfavorably to their black and yellow cousins. Health studies of Labradors indicate that chocolate colored dogs are diagnosed with ear infections and dermatitis more frequently than black and yellow dogs, and live on average one year less. Chocolate Labs used to breed silver or silver beige Labradoodle puppies could pass these vulnerabilities on to their puppies. Your Silver Labradoodle Puppy So there you have it — one silver Doodle dog may not be strictly the same color as the next, and silver Doodles from chocolate Labrador parents may have a markedly different temperaments, health profile and lifespan too. If you already have a silver Labradoodle, please tell us about them in the comments box down below! Were they silver when you picked them up, or did they fade as they matured? More Labradoodle Photos And Resources. Their adorable curly fur and expressive faces make you want to cuddle them — and these little guys love nothing more than a good squish. All this and more makes our labradoodle puppies for sale one the most in-demand in our center. Activity-loving families adore these dogs for their propensity towards sports, and anyone who prefers low-shedding pooch benefits from their wooly or fleecy fur. Labradoodle puppies for sale are so cute and come in such a wide range of colors that it makes choosing your new best friend super-hard! While spearheading the Royal Guide Dogs Association of Australia breeding program, he conducted the crossbreeding of a standard poodle and Labrador retriever in view of it being a hypoallergenic guide dog for blind people. The first example of this type of dog, called Sultan, went to live with a lady in Hawaii, where other breeders saw him as an inspiration and this is how Australian Labradoodle puppies started. Both the International Australian Labradoodles Association and the Australian Labradoodles Association of America are working hard to incorporate more intergenerational breeding so these dog breeders can register this type of dog as a purebred dog. Its gentle, obedient and intelligent personality combined with a hypoallergenic coat make it ideal for family members with allergies, but it also makes an excellent service or therapy dog. Labradoodle Puppies Lifespan When properly taken care of, healthy dogs tend to live anywhere from 10 to 13 years. The lifespan of our Labradoodle puppies for sale is slightly above average at 12 to 14 years. Here are the life stages of multigenerational Australian Labradoodles: Puppyhood: First five months Adolescence: Between five months and two years Adulthood: Between two and three years Middle age: Between seven years and 10 years Senior: Over 10 years Labradoodles need the most attention and care in the first and last stages of their life. During puppyhood, their minds are highly impressionable, which is ideal for training. During their senior years, Labradoodles are more susceptible to health problems, which means owners need to keep a watchful eye. Labradoodle Size The size of labradoodle puppies for sale directly relates to the size of their parents and which generation of breed Labradoodle breeders chose. The larger the puppies, the larger the adult dog will be, and the faster their growth will be coming out of the puppy stage. A standard labradoodle puppy will weigh from pounds by the time it reaches two months of age. By a year old, it will have grown dramatically to up to 80 pounds, depending on the size of its parents. Medium Labradoodles occupy a spectrum of sizes between standard and mini Labradoodles, with the specifics depending heavily on the details of the breeding pair that birthed them and the breeding program they come from. Labradoodle Puppies Temperament While Labradoodle breeders originally bred the Australian Labradoodles as therapy dogs, their fun, friendly personalities made them popular pets. Now you can find these sociable dogs in homes across the globe. Here are some of the top personality traits of our Labradoodle puppies for sale. They tend to do best in active households where they can work off all that pent-up energy. You can fulfill their needs through the following activities: Walks or jogs: Labradoodles make great walking companions and can even keep up with you during a jog. Playing in the yard: Enjoy a game of fetch with your furry friend in the yard or just let it loose on its own. Dog sports: If you stay active through sports, consider making your labradoodle a part of your routine. Bring it on bike rides, go for a run together or kick a ball around in the yard. Obstacle courses: Set up an obstacle course for your dog using household items. Scavenger hunt: Creating a scavenger hunt for your canine is a great way to exercise its body and brain. In general, Labradoodles need anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes of exercise a day. You can also enroll them later at a Labradoodle puppy alumni school for proper training. Friendliness What makes Labradoodles the perfect puppy compare to other dog breeds is their ability to get along with just about anyone. They inherit this trait from their Labrador retriever parent, a breed also known for its outgoing nature. You can trust your labradoodle to form friendships with everyone, from children and older adults to strangers and other puppies. Thanks to their affectionate, sociable personalities, Labradoodles make great pets for first-time owners, families, or anyone looking for a companion. Intelligence Thanks to their poodle parent breeds, Labradoodles are incredibly intelligent dogs. Because Labradoodles are intelligent, they often crave mental stimulation. Labradoodle Puppies Grooming Our Labradoodle puppies for sale have a variety of coat textures that dog owners enjoy, but in general, their low shedding coat needs brushing at least twice a week. Not only does this keep them tangle-free but it also removes excess debris from their coat, keeping them fresh and hygienic. Regularly trim the hair around their eyes and in between their paws to prevent these problem areas from causing irritation. Pooches with fleece coats tend to have longer fur and benefit the most from going to a professional groomer — although every dog loves getting pampered once in a while. average weight 4 month old german shepherd puppy - Home of Kennel free living and lots of loving! Good Gracious Goldens was created in when I decided to follow in my mothers footsteps as she has been raising them for over 3o years. Recently we welcomed our 3rd child and decided it was time to split the work without compromising the experience for our adopting families. Now we are working along side Lone Oak Goldens, my dear friend Lori. This decision is not one we took lightly as our reputation is very important to us but I knew her care and expertise would only make us better! I could not imagine a more wonderful partner. She raises them in her home in NE and brings them to my home when they are ready as most of our adopting families are in Colorado including many repeat families! Now I can put all my focus in the communication I pride myself on quick replies , while Lori is loving on the puppies and socializing them getting them ready to meet you! And trust me when you see these puppies you'll see just how much love was poured into them!! I like to say us working together for you, is the truly best of both worlds! We love the English Cream and American Golden breed. We couldn't imagine a better way of life! Of course watching them grow up and thrive is amazing, but I would say my favorite part is seeing the families faces when they see their new family member. Thank you for taking the time to read about us! Our Philosophy! We believe dogs and puppies should be unconditionally loved and cared for as they truly become part of your family. When choosing the right puppy for your family, there are many choices out there. Some puppies are raised in undesirable conditions, this is incredibly heart breaking. Which is why we raise our Golden Retrievers with absolutely no kennels. We believe this makes us different from other breeders. As we are continually trying to improve our breeding program. Our reason for raising English Creme Golden Retrievers is because of our love for the breed and the joy our dogs have brought to our lives. We desire an extraordinary puppy for your family too. When you pick us, we have to pick you too, as we too are selective when choosing forever homes for our pups. Within the first 8 weeks of their lives we spend a lot of time helping them develop social skills and simply loving on them. We get to know each one of the puppies and are fully committed to helping you choose the puppy that is best for you and your family based on gender, temperament and color. We recently joined our breeding program with Lone Oak Goldens. Two families raising puppies together equals double the love! We want to thank you for taking the time to let us introduce you to our family dogs "Grace", "London","Ellie", "Viva", "Margo", "Cooper" and "Hudson" along with their sweet puppies! We look forward to meeting you soon! Sincerely, Libby and Lori. Don't let the distance deter you, we will meet our customers within a reasonable distance! Country Pearls Golden Retrievers is a small, professional family breeder of English Cream Golden Retrievers raising one to two litters a year; we strive for excellence. Our farm is our own piece of heaven and is shared with our three wonderful children, farm animals and beloved dogs. We start our puppies out right with the puppy culture program. Our dogs are very much a part of our family and we would never raise or keep them in kennels. Our puppies are no different. They are raised as our own in our home until they go home to their new families. We like to know all about our Golden Retriever puppies future family and what activities they like to do so we can expose them to it, if possible, before they go home. By the time they are ready for their new families, they have already started to learn how to interact with children and are learning manners while interacting with their littermates and other qualified dogs. Our Goldens make wonderful family pets and many have gone on to be great therapy dogs. Our girls are treated like family and bred once a year at the most. We retire them at the age of 6 years old and they go on to live wonderful lives as family pets. They are always checked and cleared by our vet before they are bred. Our goal is to raise happy, healthy, smart puppies for great people. Dams and sires are also voluntarily genetically tested through Animal Genetics Inc. We strive to improve the English Cream Golden Retriever breed and provide families with healthy puppies with wonderful temperaments. We reserve the right to choose each puppy for the right family. They are raised in our kitchen in the center of our home. We socialize, train, bond with, and record their every moments and therefore we believe we are most suitable to choose a puppy for each home. We never let anyone come in and pick a puppy from our litters period. It would be a lot less work if we did, but we believe it is our job to match each puppy with their perfect family. They will steal your heart and give you many years of blessed memories. Breeders should never have anything to hide and should always make you feel comfortable knowing you are getting a wonderful puppy from a qualified non-puppy mill operation. We only have a couple dogs because we believe in making sure there is quality time for everyone, people included! From our family to yours, thank you for choosing Country Pearls Goldens! Attention puppy buyers!!! Responsible buyers only. And you know what, I agree…mostly. There are a lot of bad and irresponsible breeders out there. What is a bad and irresponsible breeder to me? I am not any of those. I breed to better the breed in health, conformation, and especially temperament. None of my puppies will ever sit in a shelter, rescue, or pound. My puppies are all microchipped before they leave my home and my contact information is permanently attached to them forever. My puppies will never stay there. Now, I believe irresponsible pet buyers are the real problem! If you are looking to buy a puppy from a breeder, a good, reputable breeder, you will never be able to just walk right in and buy a puppy with very few exceptions. Those bad breeders would be out of business very fast if bad buyers would quit supporting them. Those dogs are there at no fault of their own. They came from bad breeders who let bad buyers take a puppy. Not from a home like mine. If you are a new buyer and have questions, ask me. My friends will help you. But stop blaming the good breeders, the excellent breeders. Blame the ones who fork over the cash. Buy from and wait patiently for a puppy from a good, responsible breeder or adopt. Please feel free to contact us for any questions and enquiries. We do cutting edge health clearances.
