This dog has been the best companion, we live near Peoria Illinois now and my lab is probably the most popular dog of our family. Everyone loves her! This is a very professionally operated AKC lab breeder. Very transparent and straightforward. Got my dog tina 6 months ago and has great health and temperament. I decided to post my gratitude. We bought Marvin over a year ago and have enjoyed this healthy lovable guy. He is a white lab and brings joy to my family. Thank you seven oaks for all you do! Chris did a phenomenal job training her. The grounds are clean, they are AKC registered, and the dogs are well taken care of. I highly recommend. We have 3 puppies - 3 generations- from Seven Oaks and will come back for a 4th! Maggie was a beautiful dark chocolate , quiet lab who enjoyed brushings, playing in water, car rides, going on walks, and looking out windows at baby ducks. She was perfect for my apartment. She is missed dearly. Madi is my beautiful yellow lab who is very happy and energetic. She is a big girl who loves car rides, playing with her toys, and eating. She enjoys sitting on the patio and watching people. Both labs fit into the family. Chris and Linda are very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They take care of their animals. The environment is always clean. I highly recommend them and plan to return in the future when the need arises. Our family has added two pups from Seven Oaks: one male yellow lab and one female black lab. The male, we lovingly call Moose is sweet and playful and loves a good rubbing! He is a true lab who will play fetch until he wears himself out and then finds the nearest water to cool off in. Our female, Molly is a mischievous girl who gets her snout into everything but is always a friendly greeter and full of joy. They have both become my best companions and our kids love them to pieces. Their ranch is beautiful, and you can tell they take very good care of their animals. We purchased a chocolate lab puppy last October and have been so happy and in love with our boy. Everything about the experience from beginning to end was fantastic. The Lab was a working dog used during hunting pursuits and the hunting fraternity heavily favored the Black Labrador over all other colors. And so red labs were relatively uncommon. But in a reversal of the trend today, in the early days of the breed the more common shades of yellow that existed were dark yellow to fox red. The lighter shades of yellow and cream that we think of as normal today, were actually quite rare. In fact, the first ever registered yellow was a dark golden color. However, through the mid to late s, lighter shades of yellow and cream became more fashionable and breeders sought to selectively breed for these colors. This is mostly my opinion and not concrete fact, but the two theories I have on why the lighter colors of Yellow Labradors became more common are: Firstly, during the early years of the breed the darker yellows and reds were more common. So when a pale cream or very light yellow was born, it seemed more exotic, rarer and hence more desirable. So breeders started to selectively breed for these colors and hence less and less reds were born. Secondly, since the middle s, a famous brand of British toilet paper, Andrex has used a pale Yellow Labrador in their television adverts. Their adverts went on to be shown in over countries for over 35 years. Most colors centered on a cream to light golden color. The dark yellows and reds fell out of fashion. But in the last 10 or 15 years, the range of available shades in the Yellow Labrador have once again widened. They stood out among the crowd and so they were more desired. This caused breeders to try to match the demand and selectively breed for lighter colors. Due to a lack of popularity of the dark red coat colors, it all but disappeared. But this new-found rarity in turn made the darker red Labs more desirable. So now there are many breeders who are selectively breeding to try to obtain litters of reds to meet the demand of people who want the rarer color. Things have turned full circle. Controversy Around The Red And Darker Yellow Shades Being uncommon in comparison to the black, paler yellow and chocolate shades does make some people question the red Labradors pedigree. They question whether in fact they are a pure bred Labrador or not? However, unlike the so-called Silver Labrador Retriever that is surrounded by accusations of outcrossing Labradors with Weimaraners to introduce the diluted coat color to the breed, no such controversy surrounds the darker colors of Yellow and Red Labradors. They are a genuine, pure bred Labrador, with a history going back to the earliest days of the breed. Another controversy is the fact that Fox Red Labrador breeders charge a far higher price than breeders do for the more traditional colors of the breed. They advertise their dogs as being a rare breed and charge a premium. There is some truth in this, but this controversy also follows many other breeds and colors of dogs. Are Breeders of Reds Irresponsible? There is some evidence to support this in a very few small cases, but there are some highly responsible breeders too and I think the good do outnumber the bad. Many people have asked if different colored Labs have different temperaments. Is the Fox Red Lab temperament different from the other Lab colors? In our experience, no a Fox Red lab has the same loving, friendly temperament as black, yellow, and chocolate Labs. The dog breed labels celebrate canine diversity and our dog geekness. Every Dog Nose or 3 Cute Puppies are general labels. It's not rocket science, but there are tips that make application faster and easier for you and your dog. The crusty stuff is actually skin and hurts your dog if you pick it off, just like us pulling a scab off a skinned knee too soon. If you stop using Nose Butter, the dryness and crust will probably come back. When our hands are really cracked and dry we can use lotion to get them in shape, but we can't slather lotion on our hands once and be moisturized for life. Like cutting your dog's toenails.Nose Butter is part of their health care regimen. That stung! It's not that your dog dislikes Nose Butter we hope not , they DO dislike being held tightly and restrained. Bully and flat-faced breeds already have compromised breathing systems due to their adorable flat faces. If held tightly they will struggle to protect their breathing. Toy breeds know they are small and will often put up an unbelievable tussle to get away. Dogs are often triggered by being held tightly or controlled. This may come from puppy play, when they wrestle and play-fight. It's not fun for dogs or us to have siblings pile on and make us feel helpless. I'm looking at my three sisters. British Labradors How we select our British Labradors.When selecting our Labradors for our breeding program, we carefully examine every aspect of the dog. If a Labrador has an undesirable trait, their offspring likely will, too. There are several non-negotiable evaluations that take place before considering a dog for our program, such as sound hips and elbows, a clear eye test, size within the breed standard, a proven pedigree, etc. Once we have checked all of those boxes, we look at the overall personality of the dog. Most of the time she knows to ring a bell when she has to go out, goes in her kennel on command and sits when requested. She is a smart 14 week old puppy. Also on pick up day I saw firsthand how organized Glennda is. Glennda treats all litters the same. She is an excellent breeder and I highly recommend her. We immediately put down our deposit and anxiously waited for the conformation that the first pick male would be ours! We could always count on Glennda to post exciting videos and images. Our 4-hour drive was full of anticipation! Glennda and her family were both friendly and professional. They answered all our questions and immediately showed Franklin to us. Glennda even checked up on us the following weeks to make sure Franklin was making a good transition. We were so glad that he was already crate trained and potty trained! Since then, almost 4-month-old Franklin has begun puppy training classes. He is learning new commands every week! Franklin loves taking walks and running in the backyard with soccer balls. He has even made friends with our year-old black lab Stanley and our outdoor cat Lloyd. Franklin has made a great addition to the family with his goofiness, cuddles and energy! We found many others who bred Labradors all over the country, of course, but Luke and Glennda felt different. Once it was time to go pick up our new puppy, Glennda and Luke made it very clear they would always make themselves available if we needed them. And they have! They are really invested in these animals even once they go home with their new families. The registration process to the pick up day was nothing short of amazing. Glennda and Luke kept us informed throughout the eight highly anticipated weeks leading up to us picking up Porter. We looked forward to every Facebook post and weekly photo shoot. Porter is extremely smart, well behaved, playful, and most of all loving. We owe everything to Glennda and Luke for instilling these behaviors in Porter at such an early age. Porter is first and more most a family dog. He interacts well with children of all ages and has never acted out of temper. His morning snuggles and electric energy brighten our days and motivate us in every aspect. Porter has been nothing but a blessing to us and we owe everything to Glennda and Luke! One day I decided to follow through and search online for chocolate lab puppies. Seriously, cutest dogs ever. The process was super easy to reserve a puppy and they are very lenient when it comes to the time frame to put your deposit in. I drove to them from Florida and they kept in contact the whole trip to answer any questions I had on the way. When I got my puppy I immediately fell in love with my new baby Kobe. They keep their house very clean and sanitary for the health of the puppies which meant a lot to me. They even have their basement reserved just for the puppies. I was even given a puppy package which came with a blanket my puppy still uses today. You can definitely tell the puppies are taken care of so well before they go to their homes because Kobe was so good the whole trip home he just slept and played with his toys. Kobe is a very quick learner and aside from all he is the best looking lab in my neighborhood, I always get asked where I got him from. Trey is about 4 months, weighs 40 pounds and really smart as can be. If any of our friends are looking for a Lab pup we would highly recommend your breeding program. Tell Holly and Raider they did good. She, from the start, has been the most affectionate and social of any dog we have owned or met. She is gentle and rambunctious, goofy and obedient. According to Mr. Abe is a very smart dog who loves life, my kids, other kids, other dogs, swimming and hunting to name a few. I have never had a problem with him destroying anything in our house, but will bring you anything wood related outside weather it is a stick, log, or a wood ladder. Hunting: Training Abe to retrieve birds consisted of 15 minutes a couple times a week. His drive to keep working in a pattern to find the bird was all him. For September dove season, I decided to take Abe 7months old hunting with a group to see how he would do. Duck season 9months old was much the same, once he got a smell of a duck, Abe was on it and retrieved 36 ducks. He again worked good with other dogs and again performed blind retrieves on ducks that sailed further than expected. Abe is typically by my side when hanging around the house, but definitely knows when I am loading up the truck to hunt, and then he will not leave the truck. Family Member: Every day I can count on Abe playing with my kids. I can also count on either seeing them laying on Abe or Abe laying on them. You can tell Simpsons love each pup that is born. I have zero prior bird training experience, but SLR gives them a huge jump start by getting them out swimming, helping to break them of being gun shy and retrieving live birds all before 8 weeks old. She loves to play fetch with her ball and frisbee, is a great swimmer and responds to commands. She is the smartest dog my family has ever owned. Our yellow lab, Reed was born June 29th, and we could not have asked for a better dog. It was evident from that visit that all the dogs are kept in a clean environment and are well cared for. Reed has a drive to retrieve and is showing all signs that he will be a great bird dog, we are very excited for this to be his first year to hunt. He has a great temperament which is not unusual for a Lab of course, but he is pretty laid back for a pup. Reed is a loveable, sweet boy who enjoys cuddling almost as much as he likes retrieving. In addition to his drive and great temperament, he is a beautiful dog. I have and will continue to recommend them to friends and family! Pete Illinois December 29,…our boy Jaxx was born. He was born in a litter of 11 pups. Complications warranted a cesarean procedure. An infection developed from the procedure. Glennda put them on bottle feeding and mothered them when they necessarily had to take them from the mother. He is now 4 months old and growing like a weed. He is a beautiful Chocolate Lab. He is healthy, friendly, playful and well behaved. He trains easily. The whole process was a good experience. We were communicated with on a regular basis. We visited Jaxx just for a meet and greet. The Simpson family made us most welcome when we visited. Their facilities are clean, they are very friendly and at the same time professional. While looking at the pups, we decided that one of them were the cutest puppies we had ever seen. From day one, he learned very quickly. I planned on taking him duck hunting when he was ready and every new exercise we did, he picked up in minutes. I know he will be just as excited as I will be. Everyone who meets him has nothing but great things to say about him. He listens like very few dogs out there and wants nothing more than to make you happy. Labrador puppy scammers have even worked their way into the pet space. Sadly, criminals have been creating realistic websits claiming to sell Labrador puppies however all images and videos have been stolen online. The puppy is not in the scammers possession. Tips for Avoiding Online Labrador puppy Scams Ask for multiple pictures of the pet, including poses with specific items a recent newspaper, a tennis ball, etc. Ask for a phone number for the person selling the puppy and a veterinary clinic the pet has been to. If they do give the phone numbers, call and ask questions. If the seller says they are in a particular state but asks you to send money elsewhere, especially another country, avoid it. If the person is claiming to be a breeder, ask for breeder registration information. Never pay in cash via Zelle, Cashapp, money order or Western Union. Pet insurance is NOT required for a pet to be shipped or to travel. Do research to get a sense of what a fair price is for the breed you are interested in adopting. Think twice if they are selling a purebred puppy for free or at a very low price for the breed. It should be a red flag if e-mail communications have broken English or very poor grammar. Adopting a new Labrador puppy is an exciting time. Your best bet is to find an ethical breeder or a reputable local rescue group or shelter. He is 2 and a half years old in this picture, 50 kg. I have trained him from the get-go using much of Cesar Millan's philosophy and couldn't have asked for a better result—he is relaxed, excellent with other dogs and people but is still a fantastic guard dog; he will protect his property and his people until he is given the OK that the strangers are OK! She is a much loved member of our family and is also a superb mother, self-whelping an adorable litter of 8. Her mother was an American Bulldog and her father a Dogue de Bordeaux. She is the best dog I have ever owned. She is great with children my children are boy, 2 years and girl, 1 month. She has a well-balanced, low-energy personality, and is care-free of almost everything. She is great with other dogs, but not much of a guard dog.Her natural tendency is to be very bullheaded and stubborn, but the training works so well that these character traits are a non-issue.I would recommend an experienced owner only!!! Her weight at 8 months is 94 lbs. No changes in personality; she is still the best dog I have ever owned. She loves walks , fishing for rocks in the water, and she loves snow. She has a great temperament; she is so excitable and loves attention, which she gets a lot of. She is good with other dogs. The hair on her spine raises when she is in a playful fighting mode with other dogs or feels threatened with some dogs. When she sleeps she snores and it can be a soft small snore to a loud snore. Her under-bite is pretty cute; it looks like she constantly smiles. She has a big personality and is a lot of fun.

As we combine two different purebred dogs, there are so many possible variations and outcomes! Of course, a Bernedoodle puppy will inherit its traits and characteristics from its lineage. The traditional Bernese Mountain Dog coat features a solid jet black base color with white and rust or tan markings. The tan and rust markings are usually present above the eyes, on the cheeks, on each side of the chest, on the legs, and under the tail. The white markings are found on the muzzle, between the eyes, on the chest, neck, and paws. Bernese Mountain Dog Poodle Colors Poodles, on the other hand, most commonly come in a variety of solid colors, such as black, blue, gray, silver, brown, red, apricot, cream, cafe au lait, silver beige, and white. In addition to that, Poodles can also come with different color combinations like black and brown, black and tan, black and apricot, black and cream, brown and apricot, brown and white, and other combinations of the more common solid colors. As you might guess, black and white Bernedoodles have a black solid dominant color and white markings on the face, neck, and chest. Merle Bernedoodle One of the rarest, but most beautiful Bernedoodle colors is the merle pattern. Merle Bernedoodles have a solid base color with speckled patches of diluted colors throughout the coat. The merle coat gene is not as common in either Poodles or Bernese Mountain Dogs, but it can be passed onto the Bernedoodles when one of the parents is carrying the merle gene. A higher chance of achieving a merle Bernedoodle pup is by crossing a Poodle with a merle Bernedoodle. However, ethical breeders will never cross two merle Bernedoodles, as this increases the risk of serious health issues like blindness and deafness. Red and White Bernedoodle Red and white Bernedoodle is another rare color combination that features a mixture of reds and whites. The more traditional red and white Bernedoodle color has a solid red base on most of the body, while the chest, face, paws, and legs have white hair. Additionally, there are parti red and white Bernedoodles, where the base color is white throughout the body. In contrast, the red markings are found on the face, ears, and sometimes on the back as well. Black Bernedoodle A solid black Bernedoodle is more of a rare find compared to the black and white Bernedoodle and tri-color Bernedoodles. If the goal is to achieve a black Bernedoodle, both parent pups should carry the same recessive gene. The Bernedoodle tri-color pattern features three different colors on the coat. There can be various tri-color patterns with colors like black, brown, tan, rust, apricot, red, white, and cream. The dominant base color is usually darker and white markings are found on the face, chest, feet, and paws. Sable Bernedoodle Another popular choice is the sable Bernedoodle color. Sable Bernedoodles have a solid base color, but the hairs have black tips. Of course, the overall look depends on how much of the hair lengths are colored black from the ends. Phantom Bernedoodle Phantom Bernedoodles are somewhat similar to tri-colored Bernedoodles, but they have less white markings and more brown hues in their coats. The most common phantom combination is black and tan. These pups usually have dominant black color all across the body with tan markings on the face, chest, legs, and paws. This is again a more rare Bernedoodle color out there, but it sure does look beautiful! Chocolate Bernedoodle Chocolate Bernedoodles can come in a variety of patterns. Rare Bernedoodle Colors Of course, in addition to all of the Bernedoodle colors and color combinations we listed above, there are countless other colors and patterns that the puppies can come in. On the puppy picture you can see the dark tipped ear and in the adult Bernedoodle picture you can see the tips of the ears are still black. How does the sable Bernedoodle coat change? Sable Bernedoodles are born dark or even looking black. By the time they are a few days old we can tell if they are sable. The first signs of a sable bernedoodle are highlights by the ears, eyes, muzzle, and underneath the tail. When sable bernedoodles are 6 weeks old you can tell what color they will clear out to buy looking at the color under their eyes. Sable Bernedoodles will usually have a lighter brown, cream, or red coloring under and around the eyes. This is the color your sable Bernedoodle will most likely clear out to. Clearing out is different than fading. With fading we do not know what color the puppy will end up being. With clearing out the dog shows what color it will end up being around 6 weeks of age. It has been interesting to watch the past eight years how the tricolor Bernedoodle color changes. One thing I am finding is that hair type can have an affect on whether or not they fade at an early age. Bernedoodles with a straighter coat seem to hold their color better than Bernedoodles with a curly coat regardless if the poodle parent carries the fading gene. Tricolor Bernedodoles with a poodle parent that faded to silver where their rust used to be seem to start fading as young as 10 weeks. Tricolor Bernedoodles from a phantom poodle parent seem to start fading a bit later around months. Tricolor Bernedoodles from a sable poodle parent seem to start fading around months. Tricolor Bernedoodles from a poodle parent that has not faded seem to hold their color. Because all of our puppies from our poodle parents that do not seem to carry the fading gene are under 2 years old we do not know what age they will start fading or if they will hold their color until they turn grey from old age. Do Bernedoodles Fade? The merle Bernedoodle coat is a newer coat color. Our Merle Bernedoodles are to young to know how their color will be as adults.
