Disposition and Temperament Boxers are happy, playful, curious, and energetic. So much so that many remain extremely fit and athletic into their old age. They are very intelligent, eager, quick to learn and known to be a good breed for competitive obedience. Boxers bond closely with their family and are loyal and affectionate. In fact, they are known to get along well with children. A properly socialized Boxer will get along with dogs and other household pets, such as cats, but small animals such as rodents or birds may be too tempting. Being energetic and playful, the Boxer can become boisterous and jump on people without proper training and leadership. Boxers need to go on a daily walk and get daily mental and physical exercise. Without it, they can become stressed out. You should start training your Boxer while it is a puppy: Boxers do best with dominant owners who can be firm, consistent and committed. You need to establish yourself as the leader of the pack with this dog breed. Owners who do not establish dominance often find their dogs to be stubborn or demanding which can hamper the owner-pet relationship. Living Conditions As for living arrangements, they can be fine in an apartment if sufficiently exercised even though they are active indoors, but Boxers really do best with an average-sized yard. They are also temperature sensitive, overheating easily and chilling quickly. Boxers have a natural tendency to protect their owners and home, and although visitors who the dog recognizes are not seen as a threat, will protect their owners if they sense danger. Boxers are courageous which makes them great watchdogs and will even restrain intruders. It is important to know Boxer puppies require human leadership and need to be taught not to be boisterous or jump up on people. It requires very little grooming. Brush it with a rubber curry brush once or twice a week to keep it looking good. The Boxer tends to be a clean breed only occasionally needing a bath. Origin The name Boxer is thought to come from the way they use their front paws for just about everything; pawing at its food bowls, toys, and even its owner in a playful way. The Boxer was developed in Germany in the 19th century and its ancestors were two German mastiff-type breeds. They were later bred with the ancestors of the Mastiff and Bulldog. Boxers were first used for dog-fighting, bull-baiting, cart pulling, cattle dogs, rounding up livestock, and to catch and pin wild boar and bison until hunters could arrive. Later they became popular theater and circus dogs. There are two types of Boxers: the German and the American Boxer. German Boxers have bigger heads and are generally more muscular than American Boxers. See store for details on a puppy. The American Canine Association, Inc. The American Canine Registry.

They stand at the same height as adult American Golden Retrievers, with males being inches tall and females being .Canadian Goldens are also the same in weight, with males being pounds and females pounds. Overall, Canadian Goldens and American Goldens are the same dogs in different locations. While very similar to American Goldens, they do have some subtle differences. The British Golden is typically a lighter shade of gold than the American type. The standard weight for British Golden Retrievers is not specified, but most weigh anywhere between 55 to 70 pounds. British Golden Retrievers are highly devoted, friendly, and intelligent. Many breeders report that British Golden has fewer potential health conditions like hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia than the American or Canadian versions. There is some debate about whether mini Golden Retrievers should really be considered a type of Golden, as they are technically crossbreeds. Since mini Golden Retrievers are hybrid breeds, they have no actual breed specifications. Their coat color can vary from light cream to dark gold or red, with extreme variations in length. Their heights vary, but most are under 20 inches tall, males and females. Their weights can vary as well, typically staying anywhere between 30 and 50 pounds. Miniature Golden Retrievers are excellent for anyone who desires certain personality traits of a Golden Retriever without the medium-to-large size. With that said, mini Goldens do not always take on the friendly, happy-go-lucky nature of purebred Goldens. Since they are crossbred, they can have attributes of other breeds. Purebred Black Golden Retrievers do not exist but can essentially be created by mixing any variation of a Golden with a black Labrador, Newfoundland, or other breeds. The coat, height, and weight of a black Golden will vary because it is actually a mixed breed. Since many Goldens are bred with Labradors, they would likely be of medium-to-large build, with males or females anywhere between 50 to 75 pounds. Some Goldens may even be mixed with Newfoundlands, which would result in a much larger dog, weighing 80 to pounds or more. Determining which type of Golden Retriever is best for you depends on your unique lifestyle. All kinds make a great family pet, but some have distinct characteristics that make them better suited for specific homes. Each Golden Retriever puppy has a different cost too, so make sure you know the golden retriever price before deciding. For example, if you decide to choose the lowest golden retriever cost option, those puppies almost never have the necessary 3rd-party assurances or veterinarian procedures like dewormings, vaccinations, health-tested parents, or a thorough health checkup. These missing costs and services will be your responsibility, making the total cost ultimately the same. Not to mention the added stress on you these extra expenses and issues create! Distemper, for example, is a highly contagious disease that attacks the gastrointestinal, respiratory, and nervous systems of dogs. Unfortunately, there is no cure — just a lot of expenses and stress which really adds to the overall cost of your Golden Retriever puppy. It is wise to ask your vet for guidance on this decision. Talk with your vet about the procedure, when you should get it done, and how much it might cost. Dental Care for Your Golden Retriever Golden Retrievers, like many dogs, can be prone to dental issues such as plaque buildup, gum disease, and tooth decay. These cleanings typically involve scaling, polishing, and potentially extractions if necessary. Some insurance providers offer optional dental coverage as an add-on or as part of more comprehensive plans. If dental coverage is included in the policy, it typically covers a portion of the costs associated with dental cleanings, extractions, and other necessary dental treatments. This typically includes services such as bathing, brushing, trimming, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and sometimes additional services like de-shedding or dematting. Some groomers may offer package deals or discounts for regular appointments or bundled services. This monthly expense may seem like an additional cost, but it can be a worthwhile investment when considering the potential savings on veterinary bills for treatments, surgeries, and medications. By having pet insurance in place, you can ensure that your Golden Retriever receives the necessary care without straining your finances in the event of unexpected health issues. Puppy Training and Socialization Classes Attending puppy training and socialization classes is highly recommended for the comprehensive development of your Golden puppy. These classes provide structured learning environments, social interaction, and essential obedience training. By enrolling your Golden Retriever puppy in these classes, you ensure they receive the necessary foundation for good behavior, social skills, and overall well-being. The cost for food will depend on the size, age, and activity level of your companion. When making your decision, make sure to avoid artificial ingredients and preservatives where you can, since they could cause health problems for your dog. Read the full disclosure here. He was a keen waterfowl hunter but he also wanted a dog that could be loyal, friendly, and even-tempered while at home. All this happened between to .Tweedmouth kept a breeding record that now shows what he was trying to achieve — a hunting dog that also had the traits of a family pet. My name is Anne Glasgow and I have been breeding and showing golden retrievers for 35 years. Here is my story. I fell in love with the golden retriever when I was hiking in the woods near Edmonton, Alberta in and I ran into a man who had the most beautiful dog I had ever seen, the golden retriever. His dog took my breath away and I then became passionate about the breed. I then went on to study at the university in biology, and then psychology, married a biologist and then finally in purchased my first golden retriever. Since I was 12 years old, I began attending dog shows just watching the beautiful dogs and I set a goal to one day show my own dog. I have always loved animals, just like my father who was a vet in the Ukraine. In , I purchased my first foundation golden, Rosie, CH. Rosie was a solo pup bred from champion parents. Although I bought her as a pet, I dreamed of showing my own dog, so I entered her in a show in Red Deer and guess what, she won 5 points the first time in the show ring. My husband was totally surprised and in disbelief. I was also informed that the judge wanted to give Rosie Best of Breed, but I was outhandled by another exhibitor. Anyway, Rosie went on to win at every show I had her in and I was hooked. She was my first brood bitch and she produced many champion goldens, including Group 1 winning dogs. I kept one of her beautiful pups, a multi Group Winner, Ch. She also produced a multi-group winning bitch, Ch. Glynspur Ghost Buster. Terra was an outstanding female in conformation, intelligence and temperament. After moving to Calgary, Rosie passed away at the age of 13, and then I was fortunate to get back a golden I had co-owned with Marty and Lorna Paetz and her name was Tika — Ch. Tika just passed away at the age of 12, one year after winning Brood Bitch in a Golden Specialty. Tika was a wonderful and beautiful golden — she was calm in nature, a natural in retrieving and beautiful to look at. She had tons of coat, bone, angles, an excellent top line and a gorgeous head. She finished her championship as a puppy, winning Best of Breed and Group 1 puppy. Bond accumulated 7, points that year, beating the all time winner Ch. Anyway, this is my story of how I got into goldens and developed a passion for the golden retriever. Health and breeding information What diseases can occur in Springer Spaniel and Golden Retriever mix. Springer Spaniel-Golden Retriever mixes are one of the most popular dog breeds in the US, as they are considered to be extremely intelligent, happy, loyal and active companions. Even though they are very warm, lively and sociable, they also have some known health problems that cannot be ignored. The most common health problems in Springer Spaniel-Golden Retriever mixes are congenital diseases of the eye, hip dysplasia, hypothyroidism and heart disease. Eye diseases can occur in mixed breeds of varying severity; they can cause serious complications if not diagnosed and treated early. Some of the mandatory eye tests that should be performed when purchasing this breed are gonioscopy, PRA testing, and CERF verification. Hip dysplasia is another common problem in Springer Spaniel-Golden Retriever mixes, especially in older dogs. This condition involves a defect in the development of the joints that results in painful cartilage wear and can lead to arthritis in severe cases. To prevent this condition, regular walks and adequate exercise should be guaranteed for your dog. Hypothyroidism is a hormonal condition in which the dog's thyroid gland does not function properly. It is a thyroid disorder that occurs in many dog breeds, especially Springer Spaniel-Golden Retriever mixes. Symptoms of the disease can include weight gain, lethargy, digestive problems, hair loss, and problems with the immune system. Heart disease is also not uncommon in Springer Spaniel-Golden Retriever mixes. If you acquire a puppy of this breed, you should have it examined by a veterinarian to ensure that it does not show signs of heart disease. Most dogs of this breed can also benefit from having their heart rate checked regularly. Springer Spaniel-Golden Retriever mixes have some known medical conditions, so owners need to make sure they provide their dog with a regular routine checkup and any necessary treatments. This way, most of these problems can be detected and treated early. What does this mixed breed look like? In Springer Spaniel and Golden Retriever mixed breed there is a soft, long coat. Often the coat is variegated or golden brown with white or light patches. Some mixed breeds also have black or brown spots. The ears, tail tip and paws are usually dark in color. Other coat markings may be lighter. They usually have a piebald pattern as well. This breed has a strong, double coat that makes them especially well protected against extreme weather conditions. What are breed characteristics of this mix dog? The Springer Spaniel and Golden Retriever mix is a medium-sized dog breed. It has a stocky, strong build with a shoulder height of about cm and weighs kg. The color of his coat can vary, but it is usually brown or golden. His head is broad and rounded, his eyes are dark brown. His paws are strong and his tail is bushy. Fur length. Depending on the type food they are getting, a good daily average of around 3 cups of dry dog pellets per day is sufficient. Like all dogs, a Spangold Retriever needs constant access to fresh, clean water. They also need a good source of essential fatty acids , which are good for their thick and dense coats and their general health and well-being. They will need adequate protein as well, which will assist with skin, nail, bone, and muscle health. That said, carbohydrates like wheat or corn can quickly make them overweight and lead to various health issues and should be avoided. Most dogs need an average of around calories per pound per day to maintain a healthy weight, and an average Spangold weighs in at around 60 pounds. This can be altered depending on how active your Spangold is and depending on their age. They ideally need around 45 minutes of brisk walking a day, and if this is not strictly adhered to, it can quickly lead to behavioral problems. Regular exercise and quality time with your Spangold will also help with bonding and prevent separation anxiety. Their highly trainable nature makes them easy to put on a leash, though their propensity for hunting makes leash training absolutely necessary. They will always follow their instincts when coming into contact with small animals and chase them for miles without stopping. This can easily lead to a lost dog, or it can be dangerous when in an area with high traffic. While Spangolds will love to play with toys and ball, this cannot be counted as exercise. The best exercise for a dog is a brisk walk or a run alongside a bicycle. This ease of training makes them a great option for first-time dog owners. Their finely-tuned hunting skills are excellent at tracking prey, and this scenting instinct follows over to their training. They will swiftly pick up any training cues and commands and relish any treats given in return. One of the best training methods for Spangolds is using positive reinforcement, which is the concept that rewarding good behavior will lead to more of that behavior in the future. They will take to this method quickly, due to their inherent desire to please their owners. Spangolds are clever dogs, and in addition to regular walks, they will benefit greatly from games and activities that require chasing, scenting, and catching and fetching. Their coat is fairly prone to tangling and matting if not looked after, and pay attention to their feathered tails, legs, and ears. They are high-shedding dogs, especially in the spring and fall, and during these times, they should ideally be brushed daily. Their nails are not particularly fast-growing but should be regularly trimmed to prevent injury or infection. While this gives them their adorable, irresistible look, their heavy ears hang tightly on their head with limited airflow and can thus be prone to infection if not cleaned regularly. It is also important to dry the inside of the ear canals after they get bathed or go swimming, as this can greatly reduce the risk of infection. This can be quickly remedied if caught early, so if you notice any repeated scratching, head rubbing, or discharge, your dog should be taken to a vet as soon as possible. Another common ailment among Spangolds is atopic dermatitis. Their thick coat can make them prone to this illness if not cleaned regularly, but they can also have underlying allergies that cause skin disorders. If you notice any signs of itchiness displayed by excessive licking, scratching, and rubbing, a visit to the vet is the best bet. Hip dysplasia is common among Golden Retrievers, and this genetic disposition can follow over into Spangolds. Neutering a male dog has many associated health benefits , including preventing testicular cancer, reducing aggression, and stopping their instinctual desire for wandering and looking for a mate. Similarly, spaying a female will assist in preventing uterine infections or even breast cancer. It is recommended to do the spaying before her first heat, as this will further help prevent these complications. Neutering and spaying are highly recommended for general health benefits unless of course, you are planning on breeding. That said, if you want to breed a female Spangold, it is far better for her health to do so only after she has experienced at least one or two heat cycles. Minor Conditions. His mother was an Springer Spaniel and father a Golden Retriever. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He is a fantastic dog full of energy and love. He is the softest dog when indoors, sitting on your lap and having cuddles and kisses whenever possible. Outdoors he is so athletic and strong! He loves fetch, canicross running, mountain biking, swimming and climbing mountains. We are going to try him out at surfing this weekend. He is intelligent and learns commands quickly but is wilful so needs to be trained. He is extremely friendly, greeting everyone he comes in contact with enthusiastically. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses. They are Spangold Retrievers. They are extremely loving and gentle, especially with children. They would rather be on your lap than anything else, except for maybe eating. Ziggy is 10 years old, and Max is a 4-month-old puppy in this picture. Max's momma is a purebred Springer Spaniel, black and white. Very intelligent and very food motivated but stubborn. Has a habit of chewing on things not meant to be chewed. I have had him since he was 12 weeks old. He's now a healthy, agile, fun boy being one years old. He is the first to answer the door to greet my guests. He stays by my side at all times and loves to be off leash in my non-fenced yard. He loves to swim and play with other dogs. He walks like he's a show dog with pride and extreme confidence. He's a quick learner when it comes to learning new things and absolutely loves agility and the beaches!!! He is very sweet and works to please. He loves kids and knows when to be gentle. He loves playing, vegetables, cuddling, water and taking walks. Gentle, aims to please, he learns extremely quick and will fetch you your shoes to go out and play. Very gentle and affectionate. She tends to follow her brother's lead a lot. She really has the look of a retriever, except for her black fur! He is very playful, but not too high energy, easy to train and eager to learn. Very outgoing and always wants to be where the action is! Took to the crate right away with no apprehension!

Do every chore you need to do before your pug arrives. This way, your pug would have all the attention it needs as it settles down for the first time. Avoid doing the following things. Allow it to settle and be familiar with its new home first before doing so. Start to crate-train your pug. Crate training is essential for pugs for many reasons. For instance, it will help them learn much quicker and have toilet training at the same time. You can do this by putting your pug into its crate the first thing after it arrives at home. You can add a nice treat for your pug to eat in the crate. Begin the house training. As soon as your pug starts to settle, try to make some schedule for house training. It would be best if you do it at the same time of the day. This way, your pet will learn to abide by a specific routine. You can also do this with potty training, mealtimes, playtimes, and other activities. Thus, you may find it overwhelming to choose which one would be best. Research to find out more about your chosen Pug breeder. Though we offer you a list of Pug breeders, you still need to get to know your chosen one. You can contact the phone number and visit their website to learn more about what kind of breeder they are. If you can, it would be better to visit their address. This way, you can avoid going into business with unreputable breeders. Ask the right questions. Once you have your breeder, reach out to him or her and ask the right questions. Visit your future pup in its current home. If you have connected with a breeder, chances are it will give you weeks to prepare your home. In those weeks, the breeder will also prepare the puppy. Between those weeks, you should get invited to meet and bond with your future pup. When you do, try to see and check the environment and how your puppy reacts. Such things will tell you a lot about how the breeder has been treating the puppy. Your breeder should ask more about you. A good breeder wants the puppies to be under good parents in the future. Why us Superb Temperament Australian labradoodles are known for their amazing temperament. Our love for this breed began with our first Australian labradoodle, Georgia pictured below in the snow. She taught us what the Australian labradoodle was all about. With her intuitive connection, and sociable personality, we fell in love instantly and so did everyone who met her. She was a joy to train, willing to please, gentle, and just as funny as she was affectionate. Due to their extreme willingness to please and ability to train, a percentage of our dogs have gone on to do therapy and service work. Nourishing Environment Puppies like babies need nurturing and human interaction. We are asking them to live in our world so the more human experiences they can have before going home, the easier the transition. We utilize Early neurological stimulation, Early Scent Introduction, Puppy Culture, a 10 step handling exercise, as well as extensive socialization to raise the most well-balanced dogs. All of our dogs are fed a high quality, all natural diet, for maximum health. We believe in a holistic approach to the well being of our dogs, and they are minimally vaccinated. Excellent Health While we have a strong emphasis for temperament, having a sound, physically healthy puppy is of upmost importance. Healthy puppies begin with the parents. Our breeding dogs have to meet strict requirements to enter the program. We start with carefully selected breeding stock coming from a controlled breeding line. Our Labradoodles have allergy friendly coats that are non-shedding, and we love helping people with allergies add to their family. As a registered member of the Worldwide Australian labradoodles Association, WALA our breeding program along with hundreds of other programs across the world, are dedicated to ethical breeding, and continued focus on the improvement of the Australian labradoodle breed. Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association We are grateful that we are able to raise and share these gentle, fun-loving, and intelligent dogs with others. I would love to hear from you! If you are interested in bringing one of our Australian labradoodle puppies home, or have additional questions not included on our website, please contact Kristina. I grew up with dogs in our family from a very early age, and always wanted to have a career involving dogs! I went to university to become an Elementary School Teacher and later found myself in Mansfield Ohio with my husband Marc to raise our two children. In , an opportunity to become a dog groomer presented itself, and since then I have developed a successful mobile dog grooming business serving the Mansfield, Ohio area and I decided to retire from teaching in .Our first dog together was Jasmine, a Golden Retriever. Since Jasmine, we've had a couple other wonderful dogs but our love for Labradoodles started when we purchased Layla, an F1b Labradoodle. She stole our hearts and put into motion researching the breed that turned into Providence Labradoodles. This breed is extremely clever, sociable, comical and joyful! They are energetic when free, and quiet when handled. They approach people in a happy, friendly manner and make amazing therapy and service dogs as they are keen to learn and easy to train. Their amazing qualities made it very easy to concentrate only on breeding this wonderful breed! Our puppies, like our dogs, are raised in our home with lots of human contact. Our puppies are started with a focus in socialization, constant love and a nuturing environment to ensure that they will have loving and easy-going dispositions. My goal is to provide a family with a loving companion, whether a house pet, therapy dog or service dog! It is so important to me to raise well rounded and happy puppies that will make wonderful companions. We adhere to high-quality standards when it comes to our breeding dogs.
