Our favorite method to keep their skin healthy is giving them some coconut oil. Your bully will love it and their coat will be much less dry. Give about 2 teaspoons a day. This could be once a week or every other week based on activity level. Increased bathing will keep bacteria and yeast under control, preventing infection. This is particularly important between their toes, in their facial folds, and near their anus. Keeping these areas clean will promote overall wellness. With their short hair, they do shed, but there is little you need to do other than give them a good shampoo with warm water! Exercise Bulldogs do not require a lot of exercise. A bulldog puppy will be full of energy, requiring more exercise than an older bulldog. When exercising, you should expect walks to be short. English bulldogs are not well-suited for hiking or strenuous activity. They tend to roll at a more leisurely pace. A good healthy puppy will have clear, shiny eyes that are free from discharge. Its coat will be glossy with a minimum of flaking skin. It should be alert and playful. How about its littermates and the dam? Look around at others in the litter, all should appear healthy and well fed. Look around for any fecal matter that may not have been removed yet. Is the stool well-formed or sloppy? A clean environment and robust family of dogs are very good signs! If the sire and dam are present, how do they behave? A surprising amount of behavior is inherited. The parents may be one of the best indications of the future temperament of your new puppy. Hip and elbow dysplasias are potentially crippling abnormalities of joint formation that, unfortunately, do occur in this breed. While there are several factors involved in joint dysplasias, it is well known that these are at least partly inherited. Our studs are all sons of West German World Siegers the top German Shepherd in the world in both conformation and working ability! All our females are of top West German Show and Schutzhund lines. We have been breeding, raising and training German Shepherds for 40 years. We specialize in well balanced dogs that are beautiful but still top working dogs. They can be a part of your family as well as compete in conformation, IPO, agility, etc. First and foremost they are excellent family companion and protection dogs. We use the dogs we raise, they are a member of our family and then go out on the weekends and compete - consistently winning or being in the top. THAT has to speak for itself. When we aren't at agility trials then we are out going for a hike in the woods, trail rides, playing in the pool or doing something else fun!
