Very occasionally, it can work out ok - but it is never optimal. Puppies need a lot of individual time and attention. IMO it simply isn't possible to give the puppy the same amount of individual time and attention they would receive in a household where they were the only puppy, if they are homed together. Puppies homed together tend to be seen as one homogenous unit - 'the puppies' or 'the girls' or 'the boys' or 'the dogs' - and not invested in, as individuals, as they would be if they were the only dog in the home. There is such a thing as 'littermate syndrome' which is quite common amongst puppies raised together - as a behaviourist, I see several cases a year of it. The last case I saw, there ended up being one confident dog and the other dog was very timid, especially when her sister wasn't with her. She had attached to her sister and didn't feel safe when she wasn't around. The owner had taken them both out together to 'socialise' them, and together she hadn't even noticed that one pup wasn't really interacting with the world and she seemed fine when her sister was with her. The reality is that her sister had received most attention and the timid pup had been able to fade into the background more and not to be 'noticed'.The case I saw before that, someone had gotten two puppies which just played together the whole time in rough play. They had taken them out to 'socialise' them, but they weren't very interested in looking at the world and learning about it - they just wanted to get to each other all the time and play. The case I saw before THAT, was two siblings which had been fine together during puppyhood but had now started to fight in adolescence. The owner returned home one day and found one puppy with a bite wound dripping blood. I believe that Australian Labradodles are not suited to a kennel environment. Our dogs and puppies are never exposed to a kennel environment. Doodle Hall puppies receive the ultimate care and plenty of cuddles from just a few days old. They benefit hugely from constant interaction and the best socialisation possible. I breed beautiful well adjusted puppies that mature into wonderful trainable dogs which make them perfect family pets. They possess a combination of calm intelligence, affection and playfulness. They will be as athletic as you want them to be whilst at the same time they also provide great companionship. Their intuitive nature makes them ideal companions for families with young children of all ages and abilities. They are simply the perfect companion! Our puppies are sold with pet contracts. We do not early spay or neuter, E. After much independent research and discussions with numerous vets, we believe that puppies need their hormones to grow, both physiologically and psychologically. We do not feel that E. Until quality research has been undertaken that proves that no harm is done, we will not carry out this procedure. We do support the spaying and neutering of dogs at a more mature age as this does have some proven health benefits. It is a stipulation within our legally binding Companion Pet Puppy Contract that all pet puppies are spayed or neutered by the age of ten months and proof of the procedure carried out is provided to Doodle Hall before the puppy reaches 12 months of age. Doodles make such wonderful companions and family pets because of their intuitive and loving personalities which makes sharing a home with one of them such a pleasure whether they are first or multi-generation Doodles. They are highly intelligent and love to please which means they are a great choice for first time owners, providing they have all the time needed to dedicate to a high energy canine companion. They also need to be given a ton of mental stimulation or boredom would soon set in which could see dogs finding new and innovative ways of amusing themselves. A bored Doodle could be quite destructive around the home. They are a good choice for families where one person usually stays at home when everyone else is out of the house so they are never left to their own devices for too long at any given time. Because they love being in and around water, Doodles do tend to get a bit mucky and as such they are not the best choice for anyone who is very house proud. It also means care has to be taken whenever a Doodle is allowed to run off their leads anywhere near more dangerous water courses just in case they decide to leap in. Early socialisation is a must with Labradoodles and it should involve introducing them to lots of new situations, noises, people, other animals and dogs once they have been fully vaccinated so they grow up to be more relaxed, well balanced mature dogs. Their training must start as soon as a puppy arrives in their new home starting with the basics and then beginning their education in earnest when dogs have had all their jabs. Enrolling dogs into puppy classes is the best way to begin their training because not only does a puppy get to meet lots of other dogs and people, but their training starts in a safe and controlled environment too. They are confident, outgoing dogs by nature and this needs to be gently controlled right from the word go. If an owner allows a Doodle to get away with too much, they can become unruly and wilful which makes dogs harder to handle and live with, bearing in mind that Doodles are very smart and therefore just as quick to be mischievous and naughty as they are at being well-behaved and obedient. Are they a good choice for first time owners? Labradoodles are a great choice for first time dog owners because they are known to be so biddable by nature and being so intelligent, they are easy to train too. The downside to their intelligence is that Labradoodles are just as quick to pick up bad habits as they are the good. What about prey drive? Labradoodles do not have a high prey drive and are very social by nature. Is a Labradoodle playful? Labradoodles love to please and enjoy playing interactive games with the people they love. What about adaptability? Labradoodles are known to be highly adaptable and providing they are given enough attention, mental stimulation and daily exercise are just as happy living in town as they would in the country. Most Labradoodles adore playing around in water and care should always be taken when walking them anywhere near more dangerous watercourses just in case a Labradoodle decides to leap in. Are Labradoodles good watchdogs? However, once a person has been introduced, they would be a Labradoodles best friend. Is a Labradoodle easy to train? Labradoodles are highly intelligent dogs and they love to please, enjoying nothing more than being around their owners and families. As such, in the right hands and environment, Doodles are easy to train and learn things extremely quickly. The downside to this is they are just as fast to learn bad habits and behaviours too which is why their training has to start early and it has to be consistent so dogs understand what is expected of them. Labradoodles are the perfect candidates to work as Therapy Dogs and Assistance Dogs for the hard of hearing. In a home environment, Doodles excel at all sorts of canine sports which includes activities like flyball, agility and obedience trials. They are sensitive by nature and as such they do not respond well to any sort of harsh correction or heavier handed training methods. They do answer very well to positive reinforcement which always brings the best out of these intelligent dogs. All too often a Doodle will outsmart their owner just for the fun of it. The tough character of this feisty breed certainly helped. A military family stationed in Japan brought their dog back to the United States, giving the Shiba Inu a fresh start. The Pug lived the good life from the beginning. Their storied life was one of luxury and pampering for these devoted companions. Traders brought this cute canine to the Netherlands and eventually to England. There, Queen Victoria fell in love with them, continuing the royal tradition. Positive reinforcement is the best way to encourage good manners and obedience. But the Pug and Shiba Inu are active dogs and quite intelligent. Are These Dogs Good for Families? Both also have a charming side to them that will win everyone over, enthusiastically. The Pug side of the hybrid is the more kid-friendly of the two. The Shiba Inu has the potential to be nippy. The Pug is more open to other dogs or pets in the home than the Shiba Inu. The latter also has a stronger sense of protectiveness over his toys and food. He has a greater prey drive, due to his hunting history. He may chase children or cats that run from him. The Shiba Inu also has a keen sense of wanderlust. The other thing to bear in mind is that you are dealing with a smaller dog. With a faster metabolism, hypoglycemia , or low blood sugar is a risk. If his blood levels drop too low, your puppy will become lethargic. To keep them stable, you should feed him small meals three times a day. You can cut back to two times per day. The Pug side of your pup is prone to weight gain. The Pug in him is playful by nature. The Shiba Inu is an active dog, anyway. The important thing is to engage your pet and encourage this active behavior to keep him healthy, both physically and mentally. However, because of his protective nature, keep your Pug Shiba on a leash. Both are intelligent. That makes this hybrid relatively easy to train. The nippy potential, along with a tendency to bark, are two challenges that you may face. Getting control of these undesirable behaviors early will go a long way toward a more rewarding pet-pet owner relationship. Overall, grooming is easy. Because of the risk of allergies, you should examine his coat occasionally. Pug Shibas generally have healthy coats with only routine grooming necessary. Unfortunately, overbreeding has increased the prevalence of some of them, especially in Pugs. You could end up with a small dog with a muscular physique but has the distinct face of the Pug and the shrill yelps of that breed. So what do you need to know before you embark on a journey with this unusual companion in your home? They have the physique and looks that match their role in life. Pugs, on the other hand, are diminutive dogs with a goofy and clownish personality that makes them a delight to have around the house. So what does the offspring of such two different breeds look like? Color The dog can have all shades of red, white, or tan. Marks and Patterns The eyes would have the same black patterns that Pugs are famous for. The round and compact face has the innocence and cuteness that make Pugs a desired breed. Physique The chest is more Shiba Inu than Pug. The dog is usually chubby like a regular Pug. It also needs constant care in terms of appearance and hygiene. Shedding While Pugs are not known for leaving clumps of hair around the house, the Pug Shiba is a different story. They get their plush coating from the Shiba Inu. They seem to fight off that excess hair constantly and have a tendency to shed it where you least expect it. It keeps their breath fresh and also prevents dental issues such as gum disease and rotten teeth. The nails are hotbeds for germs and dirt which the dog would spread all over the furniture and your clothes as well. Clean their ears as often as you clip their nails. Bathe only when necessary. Temperament The Pug Shiba retains the attractive features of the Pug such as alertness, hyperactivity, and tendency to fool around and desire to please. However, since mix-breeds are not always a slam dunk, you might get a dog with a quirky personality. Shiba Inus are independent dogs with an aloof personality. And your Pug Shiba might be a combination of both. The lovable clown that gets along well with kids of all ages. And the fastidious dog that makes a fuss wherever it goes and at times seems hard to please. Whichever side your dog leans to temperament-wise, depends on its parents. One thing for sure, though, your Pug Shiba is a loyal dog. Its energy and lively disposition make it a welcome addition to every home. Exercise Needs As far as exercise requirements are concerned, the Pug Shiba is not the kind of dog to put you out or force you to change your lifestyle to accommodate theirs. A short walk every day or every other day will suit the dog fine, keep its weight under check and help maintain its cheerful spirits high as always. A game of fetch in the backyard is a good way to bond and help the pup get its share of exercises. Thanks to the good genes of their purebred parents, the Pug Shiba is expected to live a long life in dog years without suffering from health conditions. Allergies are the most common problem that this breed is susceptible to. They usually pick these allergies from fleas so good hygiene is paramount if you want to spare your designer dog the misery of allergies. It sheds moderately but it can still be a mess. Lifestyle Needs: This is not the right companion for the hunter or hiker. This dog is happier on the rug than out in the woods. That makes the hybrid automatically averse to hot climates. They get warm easily and start panting. The Attention a Shiba Inu Pug Mix Needs As a homey dog that prefers the company of others over being alone, this is a dog that craves attention and rewards you with abundant love and gratitude. That said, the Pug Shiba will make do with just about any companion. If your job demands that you leave your peg dog at home for long hours, having another pet in the house will make it much easier for the hybrid to while the time away as it waits for your imminent return. Also leaving a few toys lying around will keep it busy for hours. Compatibility with Kids Of all the dog species that you can think of, the Pug Shiba is one of the best companions for children of all ages.
