Located in Ocala Florida, we are a family owned and operated breeder who enjoys showing and breeding top quality Bulldogs. Here in the horse capital of the world where only the best horses and dogs will do. We have a peaceful 30 acre farm where our dogs are a huge part of our everyday lives. Here at the farm our dogs are well socialized around other dogs and other animals and most of all around my 3 children. Keeping my dogs happy and healthy is extremely important and I will not overlook any details to do so. You can rest assured our dogs have impeccable show bloodlines and your pup will be a fantastic addition to your family as well. They are great with children when trained with a firm but, loving and positive hand. Here at Blackhorse you are not just purchasing a pup but, you are becoming a member of our family, we will always be here to answer questions and help anytime. Judges love his near perfect structure, breath taking movement and super kind personality as well! Way to go Einstein! Love this remarkable boy!! Building a trustworthy, capable, vigorous, and beastly Olde English Bulldogge is my lifestyle. My breeding program permeates my entire life and gives me purpose. Take a look around my site to see the Evolution Bulldogge difference. This is my story. The giant bulldog in the cartoons had a magnificent head, colossal chest, low, broad, heavy, and muscular body! Immediately Bulldogs became a massive fascination for me. The cartoons with bulldogs were by far my favorite. I would become a very excited kiddo each time a bulldog made a television appearance. This fascination grew into an obsession. Unfortunately, my first introduction to a real bulldog was a disappointment mixed with a strange sense of enthusiasm. My friend Mikey had a female English Bulldog at his house. She was tiny, chunky, super cute, and snorty. He showed me that when he nudged her chest with his shoe, she would grip it and snarl in rough play. Her bully mind was incredible, but her body was lacking. I really thought bulldogs were going to be how television portrayed them to children. There had to be something better. I was fifteen years old when I met Mr. Jack, an over-sized English Bulldog stud. I spent hours playing and wrestling around with him. He was a great bulldog, and he was reasonably similar to my giant cartoon bulldog dream. Unfortunately, he was not quite the icon of health or vigor I had hoped for, but I was completely hooked. I made a clear decision. I would become the greatest bulldog breeder in the world. My parents, however, put my dream as a bulldog breeder on hold. Over the next decade and a half, I spent countless hours and days researching genetics, anatomy, physiology, and biology. I was learning how to breed healthy versions of my beloved cartoon image bulldog. In my studies, I realized the English Bulldog is structurally limited in regards to health. I began looking at other bully breeds in an attempt to find a healthy bulldog that matched my vision. For many years my search came up lacking. By the time I reached this earth, bulldogs had become a gross mutation of their former selves. The bulldog of old- the courageous, capable, athletic, powerful bulldogs had long since become extinct. I become less enamored with the English Bulldog breed and more so interested in my image of what I felt a bulldog should be. But I did not Stop Searching. They were local, and the name in the olde tyme spelling piqued my Bulldog curiosity. I called and made an appointment to see what these Olde English Bulldogges were all about. I rushed right over to see this new promise of a better Bulldog. When I arrived, I saw the most superb Bulldog bitch that I had ever seen in my life! Bulldogs only moved that powerfully and quickly in the cartoons! I knew I was onto something with my brand new introduction to the Olde English Bulldogge. The sales pitch that the Olde English Bulldogge was healthy and capable sold me. Traveling around the country, I visited breeders of this amazing new breed and I bought up puppy after puppy. Dog after dog failed health and temperament tests. It quickly became evident that the Olde English Bulldogge breed also suffers from several of the same health issues which plague the English Bulldog. Compelled by obsession, I started all over, In spite of my losses. The lessons were expensive, in addition to well-received. Nevertheless, I searched tirelessly for Olde Bulldogges that would put me within reach of my ultimate goal of a bigger, better bulldog. Taking some significant losses, I realized getting what I wanted would mean creating it myself. Still obsessed with my dream, I kept searching and searching. With a few tastes here and there of what could be, I eventually stumbled upon a few exceptional dogs. As dogs finally started passing health testing, I could move forward. This small handful of quality dogs would lay the foundation for a solid breeding program. I began linebreeding my productions to make great family companion bulldogs that excel at protection. Evolution Bulldogges was born! Fast Forward a Bit… With multiple generations of tested and proven dogs, my main focus is to advance my Bulldogge breeding program consistently. My secondary focus is to help you get just the right Olde English Bulldogge puppy for you. Occasionally I have other puppies available who are not yet listed. When you purchase an Olde Bulldogge puppy from Evolution Bulldogges, you can be sure you are getting the highest quality Bulldogge puppy money can buy. If you are interested in learning about my Olde English Bulldogge kennel and breeding program or purchasing bulldog puppies from me, please feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from you and will help you in any way I can.

You should hear all the comments I get from people who stop me to ask what breed she is and tell me how cute and beautiful she is. He is totally crate trained, and has very rarely had an accident inside. He slept the first night and every night from 11pm-6AM better than any of my 4 kids! People with dogs say that we are very lucky and have such a great dog! She is always the smartest one in the class as she is such a quick learner! Izzy is pretty much completely potty trained — she regularly rings the bells — though she has figured out that ringing the bells get her the attention she likes, so she does that for fun sometimes too. We care very deeply about the well-being of our dogs for future generations. As a result, we have all our breeding stock tested genetically, hips and elbows are scored by the OFA, and eyes are certified. Each of our breeding dogs are specifically selected for the best temperament for service and therapy work so our puppies have the best chance at being happy doing this work that helps to enrich so many peoples lives. Our moms and dads live in guardian homes so each doggie parent is a much loved member of their family. They will come to us for breeding and moms will come to us to have their puppies and at the end of their career they stay with that family forever. Our puppies are raised specifically for service and therapy work by special puppy raisers that work with the puppies every day from birth on up until our trainer evaluates them at around 8 weeks of age. They start with early neural stimulation at 3 days old and go on to add touching the pups all over their body and settling the pups on their back. We play sound tracks to get them used to different sounds, lure them over obstacles with food for training purposes, have them meet at least different people and go to day cares, nursing homes, ball games, schools, hospitals, the mall, church functions and many other places all before 8 weeks of age. This gives our puppies the best start in their life whether they go on to be a service dog, a therapy dog or just a much loved family pet. Meet the people behind the scenes that help to make your puppy the best it can be! Emily is my partner and acts as my assistant at times. Emily is the head of our puppy raising program and both her and Randy are our puppy raisers. We have always had poodles, spaniels and Labrador retrievers in our family and loved the fact that the Australian Labradoodles are a perfect combination. We became a guardian for our Rudy from Meadow Park and fell in love immediately with his lovable personality. Little did we know that a few years later, after moving to the country, we would be raising Meadow Park puppies for service and therapy. We are grateful that we can babysit our grand babies daily and raise these puppies alongside them!! At first, it was all about the excitement of bringing new puppies into the world and hoping they would go on to do great things. Then, during our socialization outings, we realized just how much they were helping others in the community! Seeing the faces on nursing home residents, that have been depressed, light up as they snuggle a puppy. Watching as a small child, that is normally shut down, respond and participate in class for the first time. And, seeing the tears in the eyes of Doctors, nurses and first responders, in an inner city hospital, as they cuddle a puppy and relax after a stressful shift. What a blessing it has been to us personally, working with the puppies and watching them become confident and strong. As we raise these little ones, we pray that each of these puppies goes on to make a difference in every life they touch. She is the one that evaluates all our puppies at 8 weeks of age and lets us know which puppies will make the grade for service and therapy dogs. Julie comes from a family of dog trainers and has been training dogs herself for over 20 years. Julie is Master Certified to train: service and therapy dogs, police dogs, bomb dogs, obedience training, problem behaviors, house manners and just about anything you want your dog or puppy trained for. Bishop hails from the streets of the south, where he was trying to make it on his own and chasing the wrong type of dames. However, his life took a turn when he ended up in a scary place called "The Shelter. Bishop weighs around 55 pounds, and he wants the ladies to know that it's all muscle. But don't let his muscles fool you, he's as sweet as sugar and listens better than most men. He has a mix of boxer, lab, and pitbull in him, but his handsome looks mostly come from his pitbull side. And yes, the ladies love his guns! Unfortunately, Bishop's previous foster home had cats, and they didn't get along well. So, he's currently back in boarding, where he enjoys the company of other dogs and a kind lady who takes him for walks and plays ball with him. Bishop absolutely loves his toys and chasing balls. He can get a bit "mouthy" when teased with toys, but he redirects nicely. He enjoys going for walks, but if he spots a bird, rabbit, or squirrel, he's off like Richard Simmons in a workout video. However, he responds well to correction. Bishop is a goofball who doesn't take much seriously, except for treats. Treats are serious business to him, and he'll do just about anything for one. He loves peanut butter in his kabobs but avoids rawhide to maintain his playboy figure. With his big smile and awesome personality, Bishop hopes to find his forever home. He's fully vetted, which means he's had his shots and is neutered. He is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms using a method called Slow Kill. Bishop is an easygoing, sweet, smart, happy, cuddly, and laid-back dude. He loves exercising, playing catch, and chasing balls, but he also enjoys relaxing and taking naps. He would be more than happy to lounge around in bed and watch TV with his humans. A perfect day for Bishop would involve the three C's: chasing balls , catch, and chill. He simply wants a best friend, someone to love him and give him the attention he deserves. A house would be preferable to an apartment, but he's open to trying out apartment life if it's a good fit. Bishop is currently in training now and is available for adoption or foster. To learn more about him and start the adoption process, reach outr to us. Wecan provide you with Bishop's portfolio and an application for his forever home. Bishop can't wait to give you wet kisses and steal all your blankets. Welcome to Guilford County Animal Services. Little puppy could be so scared by loud and dreadfu People train dogs to improve their natural skills and abilities, but not all dog trainers do it righta and that subsequently causes an unacceptable result. Actually, dogs are full-fledged members of Grooming is hygienic care of pets necessary for any dog. Some dogs need bathing, combing, cleaning ears and eyes but others need more. Dogs of some breeds need haircut. It's because of hygienic and aesthetic requirements. Best seen on a computer, too many photos for most phones. Our puppies are all born in our home, or Kim and Justin's home. We love them to be house dogs and we work together to have a terrific line of quality Frenchies. Frenchies technically are born at the veterinarians since they have c-sections. French Bulldogs also often need to be bred by AI, and are normally born by c-section. C-sections also mean the moms will only have a few litters in their lifetime. Raising Frenchies, French Bulldogs is definitely not for everyone! The price of hard to raise puppies in breeds like French Bulldogs is simply greater due to the difficulty and cost involved in getting quality genetics and then of raising the puppies. Kims puppies at her home have started potty training at 6 weeks of age All puppies are microchipped and current on vaccinations. See the other pages: "About our puppies," "what comes with your puppy", and "is a puppy really right for you. Please do not get a puppy, or dog if you have any hesitation about long term responsibility of a furry best friend. We love our puppies and dogs and only want them in a home where they will be a part of the family! Frenchies are heat and cold sensitive, some more then others. Some are amazingly agile, fast, and athletic and do tolerate a wider range of temperature since we breed for a more open airway. Others are at risk of collapsing if overheated when simply out on a warm day and playing. Many make terrific therapy dogs. They are very sturdy and tolerant of children. See Fiona's story on the parent page. I need new photos! She has really grown, super cute! One up ear and one floppy ear yet. Mom, Mazzora, one of my favorites Mom, Mazzora, one of my favorites 6. He is a handsome guy, a unique heavily brindled blue, crate trained and well started on house breaking. Love to play and is catching on to sitting for pets, well socialized with other dogs and people. He is quite the ham, loves to bring you toys and bounce around in triumph. Very well natured getting along with lots of random dogs he's met along the way. We wont know if they are actually pregnant for awhile yet. The puppies would be 8 weeks old in December. Deposit information: Until puppies are born it is just an educated guess as to what colors they may be, or if the mom is even pregnant for awhile! We of course don't know gender, or color until birth. At times we have deposits prior to puppies being born, when that happens those families pick first and then the remaining puppies will be shown as available. We will post puppies as available until a deposit is received, then mark them as sold, or pending pick up. Always check by phone or email to be sure the website is updated for the puppy you are interested in. A deposit holds a specific puppy, or a place on the list for choosing a future unborn puppy. You can always pass and wait for the next litter when a specific color, or gender is desired, or just personal timing if you place a deposit. Past puppies and color references in the slide show! Brindle Pup with his new family Brindle.
They are extremely kind, affectionate and intelligent puppies. They are like teddy bears and love their cuddles like their mom Heidi and dad Duke. They are bred to a very high standard and their pedigree is available. This is the first litter from our gorgeous family dog, Heidi, who is an excellent family pet. We have one male and one female cream puppy available, they are in perfect health and displaying a friendly temperament, much like their mother. Our puppies have been raised and played with by my nine grandchildren since they were born, so they are well accustomed to being handled regularly. They were also born the same time our cat had kittens so they are well used to and quite affectionate with our cats and kittens. Each puppy is IKC registered, vaccinated, wormed, and microchipped. We would be more than happy for you to visit and meet the puppies before making any commitments. It is very important to us that the puppies go to suitable homes that will provide love and affection aswell as proper looking after. Level 2 has energy that can range from low to high. This level may have other minor issues that are easy to address. Level 3 dogs typically have a challenging behavior, but are good dogs. These dogs might have an intense focus to work, be dog reactive or dog aggressive, may have to be an only animal in the home, or may require daily physical and mental stimulation, etc. This level of dog is not an average pet. OH MY!!! GRRAND was contacted by a shelter that feared bringing Athena and her pups into their shelter, because they were going to have to euthanize them all upon intake due of lack of space!! It took a village, but they are all safe, bathed and in foster homes! They all apparently lived in a barn stall, never leaving it, and standing on a ton of feces, which they were covered in when they arrived. Some of the pups are terrified, having lived in the barn stall, with no socialization, all their lives and are going to need families with a lot of patience! Kane known as Charles and Penelope are in the same foster home and here is what she has to say about them: "They are definitely more settled in now and some personality is starting to slowly show. Getting used to people is completely new for them and it shows, as you know. However, they both get excited, happy and eager when any of my dogs come around. Miss P or Charles have no issues with appetite, wrestling with each other, tolerate baths and the more exposure to odd things they have, I think they will turn into a very sweet and great dogs. Be in the lookout for the famous side eye he throws! He loves belly rubs and takes better to being held than his sister. Interested applicants should expect these puppies to be big, and you should be prepared for that sweet and independent Great Pyrenees personality… to know the Great Pyr breed is to love them, but they are not Goldens, and we suggest you do some research on this beautiful breed before applying! These puppies all will need a secure above ground fenced yard as Great Pyrs love to be in their yard to protect and patrol, and this happens best when they are in a secure space! GRRAND policies stipulate a few important things that may stop you from applying, and here are 2 big ones- A: GRRAND will NOT place a puppy under the age of 6 months with families with children under 6 yrs old B: Any applicant with children under the age of 16, will require a home with direct access to a securely fenced yard… meaning direct access to the yard from the home… so this means no apartments or condos. As with all puppies, they will need a home where someone is home most of the time as they need to be fed regularly, and let to go outside consistently and constantly ALL DAY LONG so potty training can be a breeze. They will be looking for a home with a fenced in yard and a family with LOTS of time and patience to socialize and work with a puppy so they can grow up to be good pups! It is a lot of fun, but it is a lot of work, and if you don't have the time, an active and non-stop playful puppy may not be for you! Families must understand there needs to be constant supervision as children of all ages need to learn to respect an animal and puppies, and need to be taught boundaries. We are excited these pups will finally get to know what a nice soft bed, in a warm and cozy home with a loving family is all about!

Show more Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health. Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji. Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped. When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange.
Life Span Did You Know? A Sheepadoodle can be an F1 or an F1b. F1 Sheepadoodles are a first generation, which means their parents are an Old English Sheepdog and a Poodle. They are often confused, at least in name, with Shepadoodles, but they are not the same dog. Shepadoodles are a cross between a Poodle and a German Shepherd. Sheepadoodles are beautiful dogs inside and out. They tend to be extremely friendly and absolutely love their families. Because they are mixed with a Poodle, there is a chance that their coat will be low-shedding. Their kind disposition and energetic personality make them a good fit for families. Although they are not purebred dogs, and therefore are not recognized by the AKC, they are recognized by other dog registries and clubs. In addition to making a great family pet, Sheepadoodles also make great therapy dogs. A well-socialized Sheepadoodle is an intelligent and active dog who tends to be naturally friendly, calm, and sociable. They tend to get along well with other dogs, pets, and children. Sheepadoodles tend to be expressive and intuitive. They seem to innately know how to be gentle and quiet with younger children. They are a combination of a companion and working dog that loves their family and is devoted to them. This dog breed is moderately adaptable. Due to their exercise needs, they tend to be a better fit for homes with large yards. They can adapt to apartment living, as long as they get plenty of serious exercise every day. They tend to do best in moderate and cooler climates, but can adapt to other types. As with most dogs, they are sensitive to heat and extreme cold. Because they love their families, have a lot of energy, and get bored easily, they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. Because the Sheepadoodle is a mixed breed, they can inherit none of the health issues of their parent breeds or can inherit the health issues from one or both of them. Good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of puppies and reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you ask the breeder about the health and genetic history of both parents and about any health tests or clearances that have been done. As a large dog breed, a Sheepadoodle is also at risk for bloat like their parents. Bloat in dogs can quickly become dangerous, especially if gastric torsion occurs ie: the stomach flips. The Sheepadoodle is a highly intelligent dog that is eager to please their owners. This tends to make them obedient, fast learners who are a good fit for owners of any experience level. Although they are alert and natural watchdogs, well-socialized Sheepadoodles tend to be quiet and will have to be trained to bark at strangers. Because they seek the approval of their owners, they tend to be sensitive. Harsh scolding or tones can hurt your bond with them and could cause them to be withdrawn or unresponsive to training. They respond best to positive ongoing training methods that are consistent. The low-shedding coat is one of the reasons why there are so many Poodle mixes. Sheepadoodle coats can vary from straight to curly and coat colors can be any combination of those common in Poodles. This means you can have a Sheepadoodle that is black, brown, gray, white, or a mix of colors. They only need to be bathed as needed, so having it done while at the groomer is usually a good fit. Floppy ears are more likely to trap dirt, debris, and moisture, which makes them more prone to ear infections. Dental disease is one of the most common health issues in dogs. It is also one of the most preventable. By implementing good dental care for dogs early on, you can decrease the tartar buildup that causes gum disease and tooth decay. A Sheepadoodle is a high-energy dog breed. They need plenty of exercise and structured exercise routines to be happy and healthy. Their high energy and intelligence mean they need a lot of daily exercise and plenty of mental stimulation to avoid boredom. Giving them a job to do can help satisfy their working dog tendencies. They also tend to love water, so going swimming with your dog can be a good activity. Because they are also sociable, taking a trip to the dog park could be another great way to get rid of excess energy. Just make sure you keep activities low impact until puppies finish growing to avoid damaging developing joints. Fully-grown Sheepadoodles usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Generally, Sheepadoodles 20 inches or shorter are considered Mini Sheepadoodles. Sheepadoodles generally live for years on average. Sheepadoodles are also sometimes called Sheepdoodles, Sheepdogpoos, Sheepposs, and Sheep-a-poos. Featured Sheepadoodle Article. Although a playful pup sounds endearing, consider how many games of fetch or tag you want to play each day, and whether you have kids or other dogs who can stand in as playmates for the dog. Click here for more information on this characteristic Westiepoo Highlights Westiepoos are mixed breed dogs. The most common colors of coat for a Westiepoo are white or cream and sometimes black or tan. Introduce your Westiepoo to any other pets and set boundaries right from the start; although, the breed might not be a good fit for a cat-friendly household. The Westiepoo is an excellent mix of a super loving and very active dog. When it comes to the Poodle, the breed goes right back to ancient Egypt, but they became popular in France as a duck hunting dog. The Westiepoo has become known as a designer dog breed, but many of them unfortunately end up in shelters. Westiepoo Size The Westiepoo is usually described as a small dog. Although, as is always the case with newer mixed dog breeds, exact size standards might vary. Most weigh in at 20 to 35 pounds and range in height from eleven to 17 inches. Westiepoo Personality The Westiepoo is an excellent mix of a super loving and very active dog. This goes for being around children, too. Walks should be on the brisk side, and ideally include safe off-leash sessions. Reward-based training is also key to prevent any stubborn streaks developing. While the Westiepoo is generally a friendly dog, they do have a hunting heritage and are not usually recommended as a good fit for households that already have existing small pets. Westiepoo Health Westiepoos are generally considered to be healthy dogs; although, the breed can be predisposed to some of the same conditions that the West Highland White Terrier and Poodle face. Some of the more common health problems Westiepoos suffer from include: Epilepsy. Westiepoos are a designer hybrid dog breed beloved not only for their adorable looks, but also for their winning combination of charm, intelligence, and loving nature. Westiepoos tend to get along with children, families, seniors, and other dogs, making these small pooches the perfect companion for just about any household. The small-but-mighty breed loves social interaction and is generally eager to play with their owners or other pooches. This social butterfly should not be left alone for long periods of time, as they can be prone to developing separation anxiety—they're definitely a "people pup. With a beautiful and cuddly coat, round brown eyes, and a playful demeanor, they will melt your heart especially when they look at you with an adorable head tilt. Depending on which traits she inherits from her parents, the Westiepoo may have longer legs like the poodle, or she may be rather short, stout, and rectangular like the Westie. Her coat is typically of medium length and can be rough and wiry a trait from the Westie or soft and curly from her poodle parent. If she inherits the "hypoallergenic" poodle coat , your Westiepoo might be a good fit for those who struggle with dog allergies. But know there's no dog that's percent hypoallergenic , so spend time with the breed before bringing home a Westiepoo puppy. But Westiepoos don't shed much , so you won't need to whip out the vacuum and lint roller too often. Most Westiepoos inherit a white coat from their West Highland white terrier parent, but poodles come in a wide range of colors. You can find everything from black Westiepoos to golden Westiepoos, with cream and brown coats in the mix, too. Temperament Westiepoos are very social dogs and love to meet new people, especially when they're socialized well in puppyhood. Outgoing and friendly, they'll happily greet strangers on a walk or trip to the dog park. But they do have some terrier instincts and might be quick to sound the alarm whenever someone's at the door. However, both of their parent breeds were bred to hunt , and Westiepoos can maintain that high prey drive. This means your pup might be tempted to chase cats, squirrels, and other small animals. But if you bring a Westiepoo puppy into a home with a cat, they can thrive together with proper introductions. She does well with training after all, her poodle side used to be circus performers! Enrolling her in puppy kindergarten classes early on is highly encouraged as it will help both owner and pup learn and grow together. Westiepoos are reward-oriented dogs, so rewarding them with treats for positive behavior is a must to help them learn new tricks and cues. Living Needs Westiepoos are great companions for families , singles, seniors, or children. These loveable balls of fur adore attention, so giving them lots of love and playtime should be a daily priority. They aren't opposed to a lazy night snuggling on the couch, either! They thrive in a busy family home or homes where people spend a lot of time at home—such as those who work from home or are retired. Westiepoos don't need as much exercise as some other breeds, but a minute daily walk and a fenced-in area to play and sniff will be appreciated. You may also be able to tire them out by playing fetch indoors or tug-of-war with a favorite toy. But it's easy for this highly social breed to develop separation anxiety if they're on their own for too long too frequently. If you are regularly out of the house for more than a few hours at a time, consider hiring a dog walker or dog sitter to keep your Westiepoo company. And because they're so small, you might be able to keep your pup right by your side when you travel or run errands. Care The Westiepoo's luscious locks are surprisingly easy to care for. Whether their fur is curly or wiry, these fur babies don't shed much, if at all. Their hair can get easily matted if left to its own devices, so regular brushing and a bath every four to six weeks is important. Keep their nails trimmed short , and trimming the hair around a Westiepoos eyes and ears is also advised; if left unkempt around their ears, they may get irritated or infected. Whether you're teaching the basics or showing off their skills with fun tricks , always use positive reinforcement methods for the best results—and a happy dog. Health Westiepoos are generally healthy dogs. If properly cared for, they can live for anywhere between 12—15 years. This doesn't go without saying that they aren't prone to some health issues, especially in their later years. Common issues you may face with this breed are epilepsy , skin problems, hip dysplasia , and cardiac disease. The Westiepoo may also be susceptible to obesity and early tooth loss, which is why regular exercise and dental care are vital for this breed. Keep up with regular veterinarian visits to keep your pup healthy. These pups can be in high demand, prompting some breeders to operate without the health of their dogs as the top priority. Be wary of any "miniature Westiepoo" or "teacup Westiepoo" advertisements. If you want a smaller Westiepoo, find one with a toy poodle parent; "teacup" dogs often come with health problems due to unethical breeding practices. To find a reputable Westiepoo breeder, keep an eye out for these puppy mill warning signs : The breeder offers to ship a puppy. The kennel breeds multiple types of dogs. Contact information is difficult to find online. The website offers specific wait times for puppies. History Westiepoos are a more recent dog breed, so there isn't a ton of history on them. They are thought to be first bred in the Americas around ; the idea was to breed a dog that would inherit the better qualities of both a West Highland white terrier and a toy or miniature poodle. But their two parent breeds have long histories. The West Highland white terrier was originally bred to hunt down vermin and rodents. According to the West Highland White Terrier Club of America , these scrappy dogs were bred to have a white coat to distinguish them from the foxes while on hunts. The American Kennel Club recognized them in .Poodles were first recognized by the American Kennel Club a bit earlier in .As the years went by, they split the breed into three different sizes: standard , miniature, and toy. Poodles were first bred to be a duck-hunting dog in Germany almost years ago, and the breed later became the beloved and cherished national dog of France. Fun Facts Although the Westiepoo is a popular designer dog, the breed is not officially recognized by the American Kennel Club. You might find Westiepoos called a few different names, including the Westiedoodle or the wee-poo. Was this page helpful? Lifespan Sociability Sweet little balls of scruffy fluff, Westiepoo puppies are ridiculously cute. They come in a range of solid colors, though most tend toward white, and their fur is soft and wavy. Long fur may hide their eyes, but underneath is a bright and inquisitive mind. Though they do not grow into large dogs, Westiepoos have high energy and stamina. They are adaptable to most living situations — whether city, suburban, or rural — but still need plenty of exercise and require access to a fenced-in yard at a minimum. The charming and spunky Westiepoo are of moderate lifespan and regularly live over a decade. So, be prepared to care for them in good times and bad for quite a while. Though there is not much data on the relatively new Westiepoo breed, you can get tons of information and advice on the well-loved parent breeds. The story goes that one day Colonel Malcom of Poltalloch was hunting with a pack of Cairn Terriers and accidentally shot his favorite dog. Upset by the tragic mistake, he vowed to only hunt with white dogs from then on. Like ours, if left untrimmed, their hair will just keep growing! If not cared for, their coat can cord and turn into a sort of dreadlock. This strange hair-like-fur is also hypoallergenic. The two most popular contenders for the official name of the Westiepoo are Westiedoodle and Wee-Poo. Although it can be very independent, and even aloof at times, it is incredibly loyal and affectionate with its family. It is also a smart, and often a very curious dog that loves to explore. Regularly giving your Westiepoo plenty of outdoor space is recommended, as this self-reliant dog will love to roam around by themselves and dig. Due to their West Highland White Terrier heritage, some Westiepoos tend to dig and chase smaller animals. The Standard Poodle parent does not have much hunting instinct to speak of, however, so it is a bit of a toss-up as to which breed your dog will favor. Are These Dogs Good for Families? They require quite a bit of exercise, so we think the more people that are excited to take them outdoors the better! While they often favor the gentle attitude of the Standard Poodle, not all Westiepoos have a personality that meshes well with children. Their terrier heritage can tend towards nippiness and a certain degree of unpredictability, so they may not be suitable playmates for all children. The best way to make sure your Westiepoo gets along with your kids is to socialize both dogs and children with each other at an early age. Teach both parties how to interact appropriately and respect boundaries, and you should not have any trouble. Standard Poodles are friendly and have very little hunting instincts, making them easygoing with dogs and cats alike. The West Highland White Terrier, however, is bred to hunt. They get along generally with other dogs but may chase cats and are not to be trusted with any small animal. As always, early socialization will go a long way toward helping pets get along. Get to know your animals, because with some patience and supervision a harmonious home life is absolutely within your grasp! Things to Know When Owning a Westiepoo Adding a new canine companion to your life is a serious decision. But keep an eye on those ingredient lists, because not all kibble is created equal. Stay away from brands that have large quantities of fillers like grain and byproduct ingredients. A high-quality kibble should give your dog a wide variety of nutrients from both plant and animal sources. Try giving adding some lean proteins like fish, veggies, or fruits with their standard kibble. A post shared by Westie Match westie. Though they can adapt to city or more rural settings, a fenced-in yard is very necessary. And the more yard space your Westiepoo has to explore, the better! Their terrier heritage means that they will love adventuring solo to root around and dig. Additionally, their Standard Poodle parent gives this breed a love of running and retrieving. Early training will start you off on the right foot with your puppy and will be a fun way for both dogs and humans to learn to communicate with each other. Their terrier breeding means that it is especially important to teach your Westiepoo good behavior. Without guidance, terrier breeds can become yappy, chase squirrels and other small animals, and dig in inappropriate places. They respond well to firm, positive training. It may have either a single or double coat, and the hair-like-fur grows at a rapid rate. Daily brushing will help prevent mats , and we recommend giving your Westiepoo a haircut every six to eight weeks. Ears need to be checked and cleaned regularly and may need special attention if the hair around the ear is kept long. Remove any wax or dirt buildup, but also check for burrs, ticks, and other parasites that may have grabbed on. While any of these could appear in a Westiepoo, as a hybrid dog breed they are usually significantly healthier than either of their parent breeds. Bearing that in mind, here is a rundown of all the health conditions you may encounter with your Westiepoo. Minor Conditions. White with patches of blonde, blue, and silver Suitable for: Attentive, families, small homes apartments Temperament: Friendly, social, attentive, short-tempered If you were thinking about getting one of these pets for your home but would like to learn more about it first, keep breathing while we discuss temperament, diet, grooming, and more to help you make an informed decision. Dogs that are harder to train will require a bit more patience and practice. Proper exercise, nutrition, and hygiene also play an important role in the lifespan of your pet. More social dogs have a tendency to run up to strangers for pets and scratches, while less social dogs shy away and are more cautious, even potentially aggressive. Westiepoo Puppies A post shared by Westie Match westie. However, with patience, dedication, and the right techniques, they can be successfully trained, and the result is definitely worth it! It gets along well with children and is usually tolerant of rough play. They enjoy being around people and participating in family activities so they can get upset if you spend a lot of time away from home. It may start barking, digging holes, or chewing on furniture. Service dogs are better suited to people who spend plenty of time at home. Since the Westiepoo has a poodle as a parent, it will be extremely intelligent, both a blessing and a curse. It will be easy to teach new tricks, and they will find where to help you around the house. However, they have a strong will and can be difficult to sway once they want something. Are These Dogs Good for Families? The Westiepoo, as we mentioned earlier, these dogs enjoy being around family members and are tolerant with children. It has plenty of energy for games, and a large family will help it get the exercise and needs, while its smaller size makes it suitable for smaller homes and apartments. The Westiepoo gets along extremely well with other dog breeds and is usually friendly and outgoing on the walking trail. However, like many terriers, it has a strong prey drive and may chase small cats, rabbits, and squirrels. Early socialization can help it get along with other pets, but it will be hard to control in the yard. We recommend choosing brands with real meat like chicken, beef, turkey, or salmon listed as the first ingredient. Brands that provide real fruits and vegetables, like broccoli, pumpkin, blueberries, and more, can provide important vitamins and minerals that your pet needs. Avoid foods with chemical preservatives or artificial dyes, and make sure any corn or soy ingredients are lower down the list and not near the beginning. Luckily, its smaller size means that a good walk each day will allow the dog to burn off most of its excess energy. We recommend setting at least 30 minutes aside each day to walk or play with your Westiepoo to keep it healthy and less likely to disturb you while you sleep at night. Bored dogs often resort to barking or other bad behavior to get the attention it craves. At least when it feels like learning. Giving the dog plenty of treats and other positive reinforcement will keep it coming back for more. Consistency and patience are your keys to success. Even a highly intelligent dog like the Westiepoo can take several weeks to learn a new trick and commit it to memory. However, it will require frequent brushing because the fur can get tangled and knotted. The longer you let it go, the more painful it will be for the dog, which will cause it to hate grooming. Start grooming early when the dog is still a puppy to help it get used to it and brush frequently , so there will be less uncomfortable hair pulling. If your dog spends most of its time in the house, you will need to trim the nails when you hear them clicking on the floor. Size Life Span Westiepoos are not a purebred dog. They are a cross between a West Highland Terrier and a Poodle. Before deciding if you should add a Westiepoo to your family, you should research both dog breeds separately and make comparisons. This mixed dog breed is playful, affectionate, and cheerful. They adore meeting new people and pups, but will need plenty of socialization at a young age. Westiepoos are also intelligent, loyal, sweet, and loving. These characteristics make them perfect for a medium-sized or growing family. The Westiepoo tends to be wonderful with children, but can be somewhat protective around strangers. This outgoing and social dog breed can be prone to barking because of their protective streak. But, they can be trained to calm down quickly and quietly if given positive reinforcement and patience. Because they are somewhat active, Westiepoos will need some space. They are best-suited in small or medium-sized homes with a small yard. This will give them plenty of space to romp without harming themselves or others. This dog breed adores being around their family and can be very affectionate. The Westiepoo thrives in growing families and enjoys that there is always someone to cuddle or play with throughout the day. If you have children that are in school, and you work outside the home, it may be best to bring them to work if possible. Because Westiepoos are a mixed breed, they will have a larger gene pool to pull from. They may be less likely to have chronic issues that are associated with their purebred counterparts, but they may also still inherit them from one of both of their parents. They do, however, need to have regular veterinary checkups to keep up with exams, vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and topical flea and tick preventative measures. Although Westiepoos are a generally healthy breed, they may fall ill with addisons, patellar luxation, hypothyroidism, craniomandibular osteopathy, and pulmonary fibrosis. Westiepoo puppies are somewhat easy to train, but will need plenty of patience and positive reinforcement. Results from training will come gradually and will remain over time as long as you are consistent. If your Westiepoo is your first pet, you may want to work with a trainer. Regular grooming is required for the Westiepoo. You should brush your dog every day and bathe them as needed. Make sure to have your dog groomed every season so they can stay comfortable and healthy. Proper dental care for dogs is also important for preventing painful dental diseases like gum disease and tooth decay. The Westiepoo is fairly active and will need daily exercise. The best exercise for a Westiepoo is at least an hour walk every day. A trip to the dog park multiple times a week will also keep them healthy and calm. Just be sure to bring plenty of water for you and your dog and maybe even a doggie-safe backpack in case they need a break. A Westiepoo usually stands 9 to 16 inches tall and weighs 30 to 40 pounds. This mixed dog breed generally lives 12 to 15 years. Featured Westiepoo Article. Hair grows very slowly and doesn't shed. Has vocabulary of approx. More from Popular Doodle.Lifespan Sociability The Springerdoodle is an increasingly popular designer breed. There are a decent number of Springerdoodle breeders, due to their popularity. When choosing a breeder, take a look at their premises and make sure you can see where the puppies and parents are being kept. Try to ensure that the puppies are being kept in good condition, with access to food and drink, as well as the opportunity to exercise. If you are looking for a companion, the Springerdoodle is loyal and gentle and you will most certainly enjoy their company. The Springerdoodle May Be Considered Hypoallergenic One of the reasons for the popularity of the poodle breed is that they are described as being hypoallergenic. Dog allergies are known to affect up to one in five adults, and asthma sufferers can also face a difficult time when faced with dog hair and dander. It is the allergen Can f 1 Canis familiaris allergen 1 that is known to cause allergic reactions from allergy sufferers and so-called hypoallergenic dogs are thought to produce a lower concentration of this allergen. Poodles are one such breed so if your Springerdoodle inherits this trait from his Poodle parent breed, it is possible that even the most allergic sufferer could live with the dog. However, scientists dispute the fact that these dogs produce less of the allergen, and while some breeds are known to be less of an irritant to sufferers, there is no such thing as a truly hypoallergenic dog breed. The Springerdoodle Is One of Dozens of Poodle Hybrid Breeds It is impossible to say exactly how many designer breeds exist, let alone how many of them incorporate the Poodle breed into their genetics. Kennel clubs, including the American Kennel Club, do not recognize hybrid breeds, only purebred dogs. However, the American Canine Hybrid Club recognizes more than crossbreeds, and more than 20 of these are considered Poodle crosses. The Labradoodle is one of the best known, but other examples include the Spoodle and the Saint Berdoodle, which cross the Poodle with the Cocker Spaniel and the Saint Bernard respectively. They were bred as hunting dogs and would cause game and birds to spring from their hideout, effectively flushing them into the open so that hunters could shoot them. Springers would also retrieve game. Their hunting background means that the Springerdoodle is full of energy and vitality. A typical dog will run for hours, reach fast top speeds, and have an incredible turn of pace: this, along with the fact that they like to chase birds and are perfectly at home in the water, is worth bearing in mind when you visit the dog park. Ensure their recall is excellent before letting them off the leash. Your Doodle will want to please you, has more than enough energy to cope with even the most grueling of tasks and workouts, and he seemingly has the capacity to understand every word you say. Are These Dogs Good for Families? He will get on with children and not only put up with them, but actively get involved in games for hours. He will also enjoy long family walks and family activities, before settling down to cuddle on the sofa with his owners. It is always a good idea to socialize dogs when they are young. They can be introduced to cats and small animals, although it is never a good idea to leave your dog alone with very small animals. Springers enjoy the canine company and can thrive in a pack environment with other dogs of the same breed and of either sex. The look of the Springerdoodle will depend on which parent breed is dominant. However, this breed usually has a curly double-layered coat and its size will be determined by the size of the poodle parent. Both parent breeds are energetic and lively, so the hybrid breed does exhibit these personality traits. Both breeds prefer company to being left alone, and both are good with children. This mix makes the resulting designer breed a great companion dog for children of any age. As is typical of breeds of this size, Springerdoodles have a good life expectancy, although there are a few known health issues that you need to keep an eye out for. Expect to feed anywhere from two to three cups of food every day. Ensure that it is a good quality dog food, ideally, one that is suited to high-energy, high-octane dogs, and you should have some tasty treats on hand to make training even more effective. They will happily go on long walks, they love to swim and jump around in the water, and you should expect your Springer to spring. You should encourage your dog to swim, where possible, so consider a walk to the beach or a lake so that they can get wet and get healthy exercise. Expect to go on two walks a day, lasting at least 30 minutes each. You should also find some way to offer your dog some high-energy sport or activity. They are especially effective at and benefit from agility classes, frisbee, and flyball activities. The Springerdoodle will adapt to life in an apartment, but they prefer a property with a decent sized yard. If you do have a yard, ensure that it is fenced-in, and look for any areas where they might be able to stage a getaway. A fenced yard enables you to throw a ball or other toy to fetch, without the worry of him getting away. The Springerdoodle is an intelligent breed. This means that endless ball throwing will get boring for your dog. Look for ways to challenge him mentally as well as physically. Although the Springerdoodle is known to be loving and friendly, early socialization will help ensure these tendencies surface. Training classes offer a safe and friendly environment in which to socialize your puppy. Always eager to please, this hybrid breed is considered easy to train. They will pick up commands quicker than other breeds, and usually require less repetition because they are alert and astute. Your Springerdoodle will enjoy learning new tricks and showing them off. In reality, all dogs shed, but those with curly hair retain the shed hair in their coat. This means while the house will remain relatively dog hair free, if your dog adopts the curly-haired coat of the poodle , it will require frequent brushing. Brushing your dog removes the loose and dead hair and it prevents the fur from matting. Expect to brush your dog every day, potentially twice a day during the shedding season. If there is any wax or other buildup, use a damp cloth and remove it so that your dog remains healthy, infection-free, and comfortable. You should avoid bathing dogs unless it is absolutely necessary. Bathing strips the fur of natural oils, which means that frequent bathing can actually do a lot more harm than good. In particular, medium to large dogs are prone to joint dysplasia. If you see any signs of limping or discomfort from the joints, have your dog checked out as soon as possible in order to identify and treat the problem as early as possible. Minor Conditions. Adopting or buying a Springerdoodle Caution is needed when introducing this inquisitive working breed to other family pets, including cats. They can be great with kids if properly socialized, and make great pets and companions. Springer doodle dogs are also a good first time dog for new puppy parents, as long as they are prepared to get stuck into that all important positive training. An active breed, exercise is key to their happiness, and yours when sharing their home! Described as a sporting breed, these dogs derive from years of intentional breeding of British land spaniels. The English Springer Spaniel assisted hunters by detecting game birds and driving them out from cover. When the breed became popular in North America, these dogs were well known as bird dogs with powerful noses and high trainability. The Standard Poodle started out as a duck hunting dog. Because of this, Poodles make great retrievers. They were bred to be smart, easily trainable and have a distinct curly coat that kept them warm when swimming in near-frozen lakes. The distinct lion cut of Poodles allowed for better movement and protection when they were working. The leg joints, chest, and hips remained covered to keep joints warm even in the winter. In early 20th century, Miniature and Toy Poodles were bred from the Standard. As of , the three sizes of the poddle are officially recognized by Kennel associations around the world. Springerdoodle Appearance In general these Springerdoodle pups have wavy to curly hair, in a variety of colors that can be solid or mixed. Their ears are usually floppy and medium sized with dark and round eyes. As a mix, the appearance of Springer Doodle puppies can be quite unexpected. On the one hand, we have English Springer Spaniels. These pups have drooping ears and a proud, sturdy body. Although available in a variety of patterns and colors, the preferred one is white and dark brown. Spaniels have soft, elegant facial features that frame their dark round eyes. On the other hand, Poodles also boast a strong, muscular body. The have a moderately rounded head with round, kind eyes. Poodle coat colors come in white, black, or apricot tone on the hallmarked curly fur. Coats and Grooming Contrary to popular opinion, this crossbreed needs grooming and clipping to be healthy. Because of its parent breeds, Springerdoodles inherit the grooming requirements of both. English Springer Spaniels require occasional grooming to avoid mats in their wavy, long coat. Brushing the coat regularly helps with seasonal shedding. Constant trimming is necessary to keep healthy nails. Their long ears heavily covered in fur can cause the ear canal to become moist, resulting in ear health issues. Poodles with longer hair need daily brushing to avoid matting. If the coat is kept short, once or twice a week will suffice. Springerdoodles will exhibit the same grooming and care requirements as either parent breed or a mix of both. Are Springerdoodles Hypoallergenic? Even though much has been said about Poodles being non-shedding dogs making their mixes non-shedding as well this is simply not true. All dogs shed. Curly-haired dogs simply keep the shed hairs inside the curls, making brushing essential to avoid matting. Although Poodles are well known for having low shedding coats, Springerdoodles are not guaranteed to have the tight curls that holds the dander at bay. You will never be completely sure of its size until your Springer Poodle puppy has fully grown. An English Springer Spaniel is generally 19 to 20 inches in height. Thanks to its sturdy, muscular build, the medium-sized Springer Spaniel normally weighs between 40—50 pounds. On the other hand, Poodles come in three distinct sizes. Standard Poodles are usually taller than 15 inches from the shoulder. Miniature varieties are between 10 to 15 inches and Toy varieties are less than 10 inches in height. Of course, the weight and build of Poodles varies greatly depending on their height. Miniatures will range between 10 and 15 pounds; female Standards are generally 40—50 pounds and male Standards 60—70 pounds. Toy Poodles can be as small as pounds. Mini vs Standard Springerdoodles The size of your Springerdoodle will largely depend on the size of its poodle parent. These pups will be on the larger size, tending to weight between 35 and 45 pounds. Most Springerdoodles are this size. Nevertheless, there are also Mini springerdoodles available! These come from crossing with either a Toy or Miniature poodle. More variable in size than the Standard type, Mini springerdoodles can weigh anything between 5 and 25 pounds. Springerdoodle Temperament Springerdoodles will be energetic, intelligent, loyal and affectionate, just like their parent breeds. They will love spending time together, and struggle with being alone. They will also need a lot of attention, and focus on training and exercise too. Springerdoodles are popular for being great companions, family pets, and friendly towards other furry friends and people. While Springerdoodle breeders cannot predict specific characteristics, the Springer Poodle mix will likely exhibit the same smart, friendly, energetic eagerness as the Springer Spaniel and Poodle. English Springer Spaniels are very active, friendly, and also obedient. They love to be with their people and are unhappy when spending large amounts of time alone. On the other hand, Poodles are athletic, eager and companionable. They enjoy being part of the family and dislike being alone as well. Both breeds tend to be patient towards children, especially when they are socialized at a young age. Of course, the natural instinct of your pup need to be properly trained to ensure they are a companionable pal. They require regular exercise which can include long walks, fetching, and swimming. Springer Doodles are intelligent, active, and often require daily outdoor activity. Because of this, your Springer Spaniel Poodle mix will need ample space to run and play, preferably outside. Keeping plenty of toys for your dog to play with when they are inside is also ideal to avoid unwanted attention on household items. Positive Training As for training, this mix will quickly learn new cues and tricks. The English Springer Spaniel and Poodle are both intelligent, which makes them easily trainable, especially if started at a young age. Both of these breeds respond better to positive reinforcement in training, and your Springerdoodle will as well. Are They Good Pets? Springer Spaniel and Poodle are both very active dogs, so the ideal home for the Springerdoodle will be one with the energy to keep up! If you love being active, Springerdoodles make great companions for a single owner or a family with children and other pets. Springerdoodles usually get along with kids and other pets after being properly socialized. They are loyal and enjoy family activities and pleasing their human companions. While these breeds are good family dogs, supervision is suggested when interacting with young children. Potential Health Problems English Springer Spaniels were the first American-bred dogs to be diagnosed with fucosidosis, a fatal autosomal recessive neurological disease. The breed should also be checked for phosphofructokinase deficiency, which can cause chronic anemia, an enlarged spleen, and acute hemolytic crises. In addition, these other conditions could affect a Springer Spaniel: otitis externa, progressive retinal atrophy, and retinal dysplasia. Before getting a pup, talk to the breeder and ask for genetic testing. Poodles of all sizes are prone to idiopathic epilepsy and sebaceous adenitits. The latter can be easily misdiagnosed as a Tyroid problem, so make sure to ask for tests and have a chat about health with your breeder. Toy and Standard Poodles can get a clotting disorder known as Factor XII deficiency, which is an inherited bleeding disorder. Poodle owners must keep an eye out for orthopedic problems in Toy and Miniature varieties, as well as gastric dilatation and volvulus in Standard sized pups. Springerdoodle Puppies The Springer Spaniel Poodle mix is a popular crossbreed, so finding Springerdoodle breeders online should be relatively easy. A responsible breeder will want to make sure you can provide a safe and healthy environment for your new puppy, so they will ask questions about you and your home. These tests are also recommended for Poodles, in addition to knee evaluations and a skin biopsy. Springerdoodle puppies can inherit any aspect of either parent dog, which makes it essential for them to receive the same health tests as the parents! Adult Shelter Dogs Rescuing a Springerdoodle can be a very rewarding experience for everyone involved. On one hand, you will be offering a second chance to a pup, gaining a lifelong friend in the process. On the other, you avoid promoting careless breeding practices while still enjoying the crossbreed you wanted! Of course, adoption has its drawbacks. You will usually get a pup or adult dog that has been abandoned and neglected at some point in their life. This can cause certain scarring and traumas that you will need to address. Training and socialization is also vital: your rescue needs to understand that they are in a safe place and nobody will hurt them. All of this can be a handful for first-time dog owners. Springerdoodles are hardy dogs that generally live for 10 to 15 years. Miniature-sized Springerdoodles tend to live longer than standard-sized ones. Diet Feeding your Springerdoodle a balanced diet will keep them healthy and full of energy. They need to eat good quality, high-protein dog food for their development stage. Your Springerdoodle will benefit from a homemade or raw diet if they get all the necessary nutrients. Springerdoodles are not gluttons, like Labradors, so there is less risk that they will overeat. However, to ensure your Springerdoodle maintains a healthy weight, you need to pay attention to their portion sizes and adjust according to their age, size, and activity levels. Exercise The Springer Spaniel Poodle mix has heaps of energy, but this is not to say that they cannot live in apartments or smaller homes. Due to the backcross, an f1b Springerdoodle will have a very curly coat similar to the Poodle coat. Springerdoodles with very soft fur are prone to getting tangles and mats. Therefore, it is essential to groom them consistently to maintain their coat. How frequently you need to brush them depends on their fur type. Poodle-like fur requires more effort than Spaniel-like fur. Brushing their coat daily keeps mats and knots at bay, removes twigs and debris, and minimizes shedding. A Springerdoodle with a well-kept coat may not shed at all! Their fur can be thick, so to keep them cool during summer, it helps to clip their coat. Springerdoodles do not require frequent bathing, but you should brush their teeth regularly and clean their ears. Like all dogs, their nails should be clipped short. How much do Springerdoodles cost? This depends on size, coat type, coloration, gender, and generation. Possibly the only negative thing about Springerdoodles is their price. If you want a Springerdoodle puppy, you must be willing to pay a hefty amount. As a relatively new and fashionable breed, Springerdoodle puppies are rare. No dog is actually hypoallergenic. Depending on the nature of the coat they inherit from their parents, Springerdoodles can be low-shedding. What is the difference between Springerdoodles and Goldendoodles? Goldendoodles and Springerdoodles look very similar and have the same sweet personality. Goldendoodles are a mixture between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Compared to Springerdoodles, Goldendoodles are a little larger in size, and they are lighter in color. Due to the high demand of Doodles, these dogs rarely end up in regular dog shelters. Are Springerdoodles good with young children? Yes, they are pretty good with children. The Kong Classic Dog Toy is a particular favorite among Doodle owners — especially those with super high energy hounds. The Poodle and the Springer Spaniel have massively different hair types. Your pup could easily inherit either, no matter what the breeder might try and tell you. While this may seem the best coat of the canine world, it actually takes far more work than you would think. The Spaniel coat, on the other hand, is double-layered, often wavy with feathering around the ears, legs, and tail. These dogs shed moderately throughout the year, and they also need quite frequent grooming to prevent knots and tangles. Two-to-three times a week will probably be enough to keep hair out of your house, with regular trims thrown in on top of that. Genetics being what they are, it might be the case that your Springerdoodle ends up with some crazy combination of the two-parent pup coats. This could be curly, wavy, straight, long, short, single-layered, or double-layered — basically, anything goes. The best combination in terms of grooming would be wavy, short, and single-layered. Many Doodle parents opt to take their pooch to the groomers on a regular basis to stay on top of their coat care. While Doodle breeders are on the rise, most of them tend to specialize in the more common Goldendoodles, Bernedoodles, etc. This might make finding a Springerdoodle a little more challenging. However, as these dogs tend to be a little on the larger side and a lot with the energy, they are perhaps better suited to an active household with teens and older children rather than one with younger kids and babies about. Are Springerdoodles bigger than Cockapoos? Usually, a Springerdoodle would be bigger than a Cockapoo simply because Springer Spaniels are larger than Cocker Spaniels. That being said, there is some crossover because of the different size variations of both dogs. A Maxi Cockapoo could very well outweigh a Mini Springerdoodle and maybe even some Standard-sized ones too. Do Springerdoodles bark a lot? Springerdoodles are not known to be barking dogs, which means that if you are in search of a watchdog, then you should probably look elsewhere. However, SpringerDs might get a little vocal when playing, likewise if they are left alone and are unhappy about it. These dogs do better in a place where there is always someone around to play with. Springerdoodles are not among the more well-known of the Doodles. However, they deserve plenty of recognition because of the delightful dogs they are. If you like the sound of a companion pup to accompany you on long walks, days in the park, and more than this could be the right choice for you.
