Erica and Mitch of Bruiser Bulldogs are just that. They are experienced, ethical and quality breeders. I was referred to them by my friend that I trust after I saw their gorgeous healthy puppy. Our Puppy Primrose is the light of our lives! Bruisers was there to assist us every step of the way. We would highly recommend Bruisers Bulldogs to anyone looking for their own happy, healthy pup! Leah H. We were lucky to have come across Bruiser Bulldogs and even more so the fact that they were near our family and hometown made it even better. We have had Clementine Callie for four months now, and she is a wonderful dog. Her personality is amazing, and I think part of it is breeding and the other part is Erika and her family lovingly raising the puppies in their home with plenty of attention and snuggles. I also was impressed that, rather than send the puppies out right at 8 weeks, Erika kept ours for a few extra weeks because she was tiny and not read to leave her mom yet. It's that care that differentiates Bruisers from other breeders. Emily R. Erica was easy to work with thru the entire process from application to adopting and now beyond as we host our new family member, Chief. Her on-call support and willingness to provide open, honest advice to all of our questions and concerns continues to be appreciated. We would highly recommend Bruiser Bulldogs to anyone looking for an English Bulldog to join their family. Elizabeth W. Lady L. They are experienced, responsive and knowledgeable about all things bulldog related. They went above and beyond for us and are truly dedicated to all of their pups! We love our little girl so much and would recommend Bruiser to anyone looking for a healthy beautiful bully. Jonathan E. Erica and Mitch are trustworthy, excellent communicators, fair, passionate, and produce the best bulldogs. We were at the top of the waiting list for months and Erica reached out every litter to see if we were finally ready for a bulldog. When we were, she was very easy to work with. Her knowledge on bulldogs is outstanding. We had many questions on the process and she always knew what was best for the puppy. We've had Penny formerly Blair for two months and she is very healthy, energetic, playful, and sweet. She is great with other people and dogs. We are so happy with our pup. When we are ready for bulldog 2, we will only consider Bruiser Bulldogs. Mitch C. Bowser was born April and is an integral part of our family. When we were first exploring English Bulldog breeders our biggest concern was the overall health of the dogs. We decided to work with Erica at Bruiser Bulldogs because we liked their focus on improving the breeds breathing abilities and the fact that the puppies are raised within her family environment before coming home with their new owners. Bowser also breaths clearly and our vet was impressed with his overall health from the moment we brought him home. All that said we know English Bulldogs have a predisposition to many health issues and that his current health can not predict the future. With that In mind its important to start with a breeder that open to answer any of your questions as Erica has ours, and that strongly believes in improving the breeds overall health profile. Adam B. My sister ended up finding Bruiser Bulldogs and we knew right away that they were the breeder for us. In September we ended up driving 9 hours to pick up two Bruiser bulldog puppies- one for my husband and I and one for my mom. Jackson and Penelope have been nothing but a joy. They are both very athletic and healthy. They are also HUGE snugglers and always want to be with you. It is an absolute pleasure having these two bullies in our lives! Erica is very knowledgeable about the breed. She is very hands on throughout the process and is just overall a kind and honest person to work with. With all that being said I cannot recommend Bruiser Bulldogs enough! Collyn C. One of the reasons we chose Bruiser Bulldogs was due to the claims about breeding for health. During our first visit at our vet's office, he told us that our pup was one of the healthiest English bulldogs he had ever seen. He is healthy, happy and social. Would recommend to anyone. Christina S. We seen our dog on their website and sent them an Email. Mitch called us and personally walked us through the process and made sure we had the right dog for our family. We couldn't be happier when we picked up our dog Ramsey, Erica made sure we had everything we needed and then some. They are truly amazing people who breed truly amazing dogs! Jim T. As English Bulldog Breeders, how do you breed for a healthier Bulldog? Like all things in life, breeding for health is simply a matter of priority. We are blind to many of the breed priorities that distract other bulldog breeders from improving the health of their Bulldog. We focus on health and personality and very little else. We are not interested in winning a blue ribbon in the show ring. Rather, we test for things like elongated soft palates, narrow tracheas, stenotic nares, luxation in the patellar tendons, heart defects, cherry eye, optic cilia, entropion, ect. We focus and prioritize creating healthy bloodlines, therefore our bulldogs are typically much healthier than the breed as a whole. After breeding for health, what other priorities are you focused on? Our true desire is to create the perfect family bulldog. We also believe a bulldog bred for the correct personality is essential to the family unit as well. A Bruiser Bulldog is bred for intelligence and playfulness. We want our bulldogs to be full of personality and some quirk. We believe a full personality along with a little stubbornness is the true North star of the bulldog breed and is what makes them unique among other breeds. We look for these personality traits in our adult bulldogs and continue to create bloodlines that reflect these qualities and produce high quality English Bulldogs for sale. If you found the Pug of your choice that is not close by, insist on speaking to the breeder over Skype, Facetime or any other video conferencing software. Ways to Detect Pug Puppy Scams 1. Excellent breeders will not sell their Pug puppies for rock bottom prices. It is not cheap to raise a litter. Vet bills, health testing, food and supplements, time and effort go into a litter. So, if the price seems too good, it probably is not legit. If you have been checking the price of Pug puppies that you are interested in buying and a puppy comes up that is way below the going price, there is a reason for it. Read on for more information about prices. Free or nearly free shipping: Many scammers will offer shipping at a ridiculously low price with their choice of Pet Delivery Agency. Scammers entice you to purchase knowing that shipping is not going to be an added expense however, if you fall for the scam, the cost of shipping continues to grow almost daily. Scammers will normally insist on shipping the puppy to you. They will make up excuses for why you cannot pick up the puppy in person. This is because they will charge you much more for the shipping that you have paid for the puppy. If you are adamant that you will pick up the puppy in person the scammer will eventually relent and arrange an appointment to meet. Scammers do this as there is a possibility that you will relent and pay for shipping. It does not cost them anything if you insist on driving cross country to an address that has no connection with the scam. There are several stories of home owners who were unaware that their address was being used as part of a Pug puppy scam 3. Whare are Panama Panama, Panama located? A genuine breeders website will have a location, phone number, email and probably social media links. This is because genuine breeders want to be contacted by what ever method is convenient to you. Scammers spend time creating multiple new websites. It would take them a lot longer if they needed a new email, phone and address for each one. The simplify it by having as few methods of contact as possible 4. They prefer not to speak to you as this may arouse your suspicions. Scammers are also happy to correspond by email. Read the email carefully. The wording in the email should be proper English. If you are in the US, scan the wording and determine if it is a native speaking US citizen. Puppy scams often originate abroad. Ask questions. If it is a scammer the first replies to your questions will be well written however this a script that they are coping and pasting. If you ask continue to ask questions about the puppy the scammers answers deteriorate and become much shorter. If the response you receive seems odd, or does not conform to the local vernacular or how you would expect a native to speak or respond to your questions, chances are you are not corresponding with a local person. While not a definite sign, that should at least send up a red flag. Odd use of grammar is a telltale sign that you are not dealing with a native speaker. No Visiting Permitted There are very valid reasons why a breeder might not want to allow you full access to their kennel, but if you get the feeling that the person refuses to allow visits, there is a problem. Some breeders will allow a visit to their home but not tours of their kennel facilities. Do not immediately rule these breeders that refuse admittance to their kennels, as they may have a good reason for not allowing access to their kennels. Infectious disease is one such reason. Some breeders have been hurt by people visiting their kennels and introducing parasites or viruses. For example, if you visit one site that may have a parvo outbreak and then travel to another breeder, you can unwittingly pass on the parvovirus to the dogs in the second kennel creating a biohazard to the breeder. One such instance is likely to prompt the breeder to close off the kennel to outside pathogens. There is no excuse for a Pug breeder to not have a video call with you. If you are going to spend a lot of money on a puppy they should oblige you with a video call! Now, there is nothing wrong with a testimonial, but when you cannot confirm the legitimacy of the person providing the testimonial, you should question their authenticity. You can search part of the text to see if the testimonial has been used on other scam websites. There are normally beautiful photos of small puppies all appearing to be between 6 weeks and 12 weeks. Study the photographs well. If the photos look professional then they should all share the same background as they would have been taken at the same time. If they are not professionally taken then they should all be of the same quality and appear to be from the same location. The site normally will have little actual information about the puppy other than a fake birthdate and a price. If there is information about the breed you can use Copyscape to see if the content has been stolen. No Physical Address Do you have a real physical address of the person you are sending money to? Google it to see if it exists. Do not accept a PO box for an address. Many breeders have been hurt by people who send bad checks, but if the payment requirement seems odd, such as a Walmart money order, postal money order, Western Union, Zelle or other anonymous money transfer you may want to do a bit more research. You may find many legitimate sites that accept these types of payments, but contact them before you send any money. Photos Virtually Nonexistent but Surprisingly, a video exists. A site that can only provide pictures of an 8 or 9-week-old puppy may be a scam. If they have no pictures of the puppy prior to 8 weeks old, that should send up a red flag. Most good breeders will start photographing their puppies from birth onward. Can they keep you up to date with pictures of the puppy as they grow? Many scam sites will only have one or two pictures of a puppy that is 8 or 9 weeks old. Ask to see newborn pictures. Where did the video come from? It is relatively easy to steal a video or ask a legitimate breeder to send you photos and videos. Once the scammer has both in his possession, it is simple to add them online. Ask for a new video of the puppy you are buying. Tell them that you want your name and their website written on a piece of paper in the video. The Urgency to Ship Right Away The urgency to ship your puppy right away often within 24 hours is a big red flag. They want your money. Ask them if they can ship in two weeks and see what they say? Beyond that, there is no way that someone can secure a flight that quickly. If the puppy pictures were stolen from another website, this site would find the original source. Check out the Owner of the Website at Whois Whois is a database that will allow you to look at the person who owns the site. It should provide identifiable information about the website owner, their host server, where the host is located and the and IP Address. Look for the date the website was established. If it is recent, it could mean you are dealing with puppy scams. According to Whois, Beautifulpugpuppies. It only has a 1 year registration. This unusually short for a genuine website but is common for a scam website. Scammers often use privacy protection to hide their details but also use false information. The information used to register Beautifulpugpuppies. Are they on any social media sites? Scammers often display links to social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest order to look legitimate however the links do not lead to a brand page. Not all good breeders are on social media, but many are on at least one form of social media, often Facebook. Ask to chat with them on their Facebook page. Do they have Skype? Some breeders use this form of communication. It is worthwhile to see what their Skype number is and contact them there. The more places you report it, the better chance you have to shut Beautifulpugpuppies. Additional business information Additional Info: In July , BBB received a pending consumer complaint concerning sales practice issues. The consumer did not receive the puppy or a refund. May 12, .Many have come across scammers who advertise on websites for animals that don't exist and are never shipped. The coronavirus COVID pandemic has given scammers the idea to ask for money up front, or to make excuses as to why buyers can't see the pet in person-- before heartbroken, would-be pet owners figure out they have been conned. Puppy scams like these were the subject of a in-depth investigative study by Better Business Bureau BBB , and they are prolific during the holidays. Scammers frequently take advantage of the news to find new avenues for targeting victims. The uncertainty surrounding the COVID pandemic, along with some quarantined families' decision to adopt a pet sight unseen, has created fertile ground for fraudsters. BBB's earlier study found that for these types of frauds to be successful it's usually dependent on bogus, often sophisticated advertisements to hook unsuspecting consumers. Actual numbers of pet fraud may be much higher than reported, because many victims either choose not to file complaints or do not know where to turn for help. Many victims who contacted BBB's Scam Tracker reported they wanted to adopt a puppy in order to ease their isolation and brighten their lives during the pandemic. Victims were often told that they needed to send money for special climate-controlled crates, insurance and a non-existent COVID vaccine. There also were several instances where the consumers wanted to see or pick-up the animal but were told that wasn't possible due to COVID restrictions. The woman told BBB the seller subsequently notified her that COVID had delayed shipment of the puppy and would not issue her a refund; she tracked the gift card and found that it had already been spent at a Target store in Texas. The seller and shipper subsequently both turned out to be fraudulent, and the woman did not receive refunds or either puppy. If that isn't possible, conduct an internet search of the picture of the pet you are considering. If the same picture appears on multiple websites, its likely is a fraud. You also can search for text from ads or testimonials, to see if the seller copied it from another website. Avoid wiring money, or using a cash app or gift card. These payment methods offer no recourse and no way to get your money back if you are the victim of a fraud. Fraudsters may claim to accept credit cards, but may steal your credit card information to use it in other scams or inform you that payment didn't go through and request the payment via wire service or gift cards. Research prices for the breed you are interested in adopting. If a purebred dog is advertised for free or at a deeply discounted price, and then other payment is required for services like vaccination or shipping, it could be a fraudulent offer. Consider reaching out to a local animal shelter. Especially during this time of quarantine, many shelters are looking for fosters to help relieve the animal's stress and reduce overcrowding at their facilities. Humane Society of the United States refers consumers to local shelters. In Canada, contact the Canadian Antifraud Centre. You also can report it to petscams. The majority of the time, poms get along well with other dogs, but additional care should be used when pairing any toy breed with a large breed because a large breed may unintentionally harm a toy dog. Although off-white is the most often associated with the breed, it is acceptable for other variations of colours, from hints of black on white to sable and around this shade in between. Why rely on us?
These two siblings are irresistible. They are definitely going to be big puppies. Here is what Lancelot's foster dad has to say about him: Leash Manners - Walks well on leash, Does better when walking with his sister. Sometimes he gets scared and sits down. He has had a few accidents at work. Lancelot does well in his crate, but needs some help getting in sometimes. I put himr in the crate to feed him, treat him, for a nap and at night. Socialization — He enjoys running in the yard with my dogs and enjoys playing with his sister,Gwenivere, I am fostering. He enjoys tossing toys, any toy his sister is playing with and is trying his best to make friends with my 2 year old lab. He is a high energy puppy and is almost always on the move. Energy Level and Exercise — High energy — enjoys the freedom of the yard and motivates my dogs to chase and play with him. He plays outside several times throughout the day. He enjoys playing fetch and brings it back most of the time. He and his sister can get wound up in the house so, I just let them back out in back yard to run it off. Daily Structure and Schedule — Plays a little outside and does his business. Then plays in yard until it is time to get ready for work. At work they get to meet new dogs and people. Lancelot is a little shy first meeting new people and dogs, but with some encouragement and praise will warm up very quickly. When we get home form work they go out to the backyard and play for a while. Have dinner 1 cup of dry and take a nap. Lancelot loves to cuddle up and watch TV when his is worn out. If he is still full of energy he will need more playing time or be crated. We go out one more time before bed and he sleeps in his kennel over night. Confidence Level — Friendly and Shy with people and other dogs will bark at other dogs until they meet. Does well in car and can even get in by his self now. Does better with commands when his sister is not around to distract him. Behaviors — Is a pretty rambunctious and needs lots of play time. He is a puppy and will put his mouth on anything he can get to. Will stop when told no, but will go back to it if not taken away or put up. He enjoys being around the dogs in the yard and chases, plays fetch and wrestles with the puppy until he is exhausted. Some times I have to put them away when trying to get something done. Personality Quirks — is a afraid of loud noise Ideal Home - Would love an active home with a single person, a couple or a family still teething but plays calmly inside. I really hope he gets adopted with his sister Gwenivere. He would enjoy a fenced yard and someone who would enjoy walking and playing with him. He is playful and gentle and will bond quickly to a caring person who has time for him. He will make a loyal companion or a great family pet. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of years. Privacy Policy Is your Dog afraid of scary sounds? Then Brave Puppy is for you! It only takes a few minutes to develop resilience and confidence. What is Sound Socialisation? Why does it Work So Well? Imagine for a moment that you are afraid of spiders. Everytime you see one cold chills run up and down your spine, and you have flashbacks for days later. How would you feel? That's what a sound sensitivity is like for your dog. As their feared sound commences they begin to become anxious, their heart beats faster, and life seems to narrow. Given enough exposure they can even develop full-blown phobias. However you can help them, with sound socialisation. Using Brave Puppy is super simple and can be explained in just one minute. Why did we develop Brave Puppy? Luna was overly sensitive to sounds, and Kasi was hyper-excited by them. Both problems were the inspiration for Brave Puppy. We used Brave Puppy with little Luna to expose her to as many 'scary' sounds as we could; starting at a low volume and gradually increasing the volume until the sounds became normal, and no big deal. Luna is now a happy, confident girl who doesn't react even during our app testing phase lot's of new sounds with each update. Kasi, on the other hand, was particularly excited by the sound of children. Training exercises or walking calmly on the lead were impossible near children's playgrounds or schools. Again we used Brave Puppy to play these sounds in a 'calm' environment to reduce her immense excitement when hearing these sounds. She no longer reacts but she does look for the 'crying baby' hoping to soothe it with a toy. Aren't there other apps to do this? There are several other apps on the app stores, all of which we tried. Unfortunately though, none of the other apps met our needs either lacking important sounds or having very poor sound quality. Hence we started from scratch to build Brave Puppy. Below are the key reasons that we feel that Brave Puppy is the best tool you can use. Each sound has exceptional sound quality, which is important as a dog's hearing is far more acute than ours. Favourites List Working on particular sounds with your dog? The favourites list helps you pin those sounds together so that they are easy to find. Bluetooth Compatible Why is this important? Sounds come in a range of intensities and sometimes that makes all the difference for how your dog will react. Using an external bluetooth speaker you can improve the training potential of the sounds. Record your Own Sounds We have strived to provide a comprehensive library, and are always looking to add new sounds. But there are some sounds which you might need which are unlikely the make the cut. Howler Monkey anybody? So rather than not have them at all, just add them yourself with the record sounds functionality. As many as you like. Responsive Developer We are dog trainers and breeders, and actively use our app in our day to day lives. As a result we are always looking for ways to make the app better both for us, and for you. Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. The Isabella French Bulldog is a small and compact breed with a muscular body and a square-shaped head. The breed is known for its friendly and playful personality, making it an excellent companion for families. They are also known for being intelligent and easy to train. One thing to note about the Isabella French Bulldog is that it is a rare color, and as such, it can be quite expensive. The rarity of the breed also means that it can be challenging to find a reputable and ethical breeder. It is essential to do thorough research before purchasing an Isabella French Bulldog to ensure that you are getting a healthy and well-bred dog. Never buy a dog just for their color, and be sure to look into adoption before searching Isabella for French Bulldog Puppies for sale. Isabella French Bulldogs have a pale golden coat with a soft blue or lavender tint. The color can vary in intensity and can be described as a light silver-blue or a darker brownish-gray. Lilac is a variation of the Isabella coat coloring, where the dog has the dilute gene and Co-locus or cocoa gene. You can also get a double chocolate isabella, which has a more intense chocolate or liver coloring, usually with cream or tan points. These are all dilute color variations, and there is some overlap, especially in certain patterns. For example, in the dog below, their face has the typical Isabella dilute color, but the body is really a blue and fawn brindle. It is important to note that Isabella French Bulldogs are not albino. They still have pigment in their eyes, nose, and paw pads, which are usually a light brown or pink color. Isabella French Bulldogs can also have blue or green eyes, which is a result of the dilution gene affecting the pigmentation in the iris. However, blue or green eyes are not exclusive to Isabella French Bulldogs and can occur in other French Bulldog colors as well. Breeding for the Isabella color can be challenging and should only be done by experienced breeders who understand the genetics involved. It is also important to note that Isabella French Bulldogs are not recognized by the American Kennel Club and should not be shown in conformation events. Overall, the Isabella color is a unique and beautiful trait in French Bulldogs. However, it is important for potential owners to do their research and understand the genetics and potential health concerns associated with breeding for this color. Increasingly, you can find rarer variations of Isabella French Bulldogs, such as this Isabella merle Frenchie in this video: History of French Bulldogs French Bulldogs were first bred in England during the s. They were originally developed as a smaller version of the English Bulldog, which was used for bull-baiting. The smaller size of the French Bulldog made them more suitable as lap dogs, and they quickly became popular with the upper class. The breed was first brought to France by English lace workers, who had relocated to the country during the Industrial Revolution. The French fell in love with the breed and began breeding them themselves. The American Kennel Club recognized the breed in , and they quickly became popular in the United States as well. Today, French Bulldogs are one of the most popular breeds in the world. Despite their popularity, French Bulldogs are still prone to certain health issues, such as breathing problems and spinal disorders, which prospective owners should be aware of before bringing one into their home. Some of the most common health issues that Isabella French Bulldogs may experience include: Brachycephalic Syndrome : This condition is common in French Bulldogs and other flat-faced breeds. It can cause breathing difficulties, especially during exercise or in hot weather. Hip Dysplasia: This is a genetic condition that can cause pain and mobility issues in dogs. Allergies: Isabella French Bulldogs may be prone to allergies, which can cause skin irritation, itching, and other symptoms. Ear Infections: Due to their floppy ears, Isabella French Bulldogs may be more prone to ear infections. Color Dilution Alopecia : Isabella Frenchies are vulnerable to many skin disorders, but the same gene that gives them their pretty color can also cause hair thinning and hair loss. The lifespan of an Isabella French Bulldog is generally around 10 to 12 years. They are very affectionate and love to be around people, including children. However, as with any breed, it is important to supervise interactions between dogs and children to ensure both are safe. When it comes to other animals, French Bulldogs can get along with them as well. They are not typically aggressive towards other dogs or cats, but they may display some territorial behavior. Proper socialization from a young age can help French Bulldogs learn to interact positively with other animals. It is important to note that every dog is unique and may have different preferences when it comes to socializing with children and other animals. Some French Bulldogs may be more tolerant of children and other pets, while others may prefer to be the only pet in the household. These dogs are intelligent, but they can be dramatic and difficult to train, so it is important to start training them from a young age. One of the most important aspects of training an Isabella French Bulldog is socialization. These dogs can be wary of strangers, so it is important to expose them to different people and situations from a young age. This will help them become more confident and less anxious around new people and environments. Another important aspect of training an Isabella French Bulldog is teaching them basic commands such as sit, stay, and come. These commands will not only make your life easier but also keep your dog safe. Consistency is key when it comes to training, so it is important to practice these commands regularly. Positive reinforcement is a highly effective training method for Isabella French Bulldogs. This involves rewarding your dog for good behavior with treats, praise, or toys. Punishing your dog for bad behavior is not recommended, as it can lead to fear and aggression. It is important to keep training sessions short and fun, as Isabella French Bulldogs have a short attention span. Training should be a positive experience for both you and your dog, so make sure to take breaks and play with your dog during training sessions. In summary, training an Isabella French Bulldog requires patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. Socialization, basic commands, and positive reinforcement are all essential aspects of training that will help your Isabella French Bulldog become a well-behaved and obedient companion. It is important to do thorough research on any breeder before making a decision, as there are unfortunately many unethical breeders out there. Some things to look for when choosing a breeder include: Health testing: A responsible breeder will have their dogs tested for genetic health issues before breeding them to ensure that their puppies are healthy. This is to avoid the heart ache later on that comes with extensive vet bills. Socialization: Puppies should be raised in a home environment and exposed to different people, animals, and experiences to ensure that they are well-socialized. It is important to note that Isabella French Bulldogs are a rare color variation and may be more expensive than other French Bulldogs. However, it is important to not prioritize cost over the health and well-being of the dog. While Isabella French Bulldogs may be less common in shelters, it is still worth checking with local shelters and rescue organizations to see if they have any available. There are also specific French Bulldog rescue organizations that may have Isabella French Bulldogs available for adoption. These organizations often have strict adoption requirements and may require an application process, but they are a great option for those who want to give a loving home to a dog in need. Overall, adopting an Isabella French Bulldog can be a rewarding experience for both the dog and the owner. It is important to do thorough research and choose a reputable breeder or adoption organization to ensure the health and well-being of the dog. Their wrinkly faces, big ears, and charming expressions are irresistible. There is a wide range of french bulldog colors, but have you ever heard of an Isabella French Bulldog? An Isabella Frenchie simply refers to a French Bulldog with a liver-colored or grayish, brown coat that has a gray, lilac hue to it. Their coats can appear almost velvety and are stunning to look at! They can look similar to blue French Bulldogs, but blue Frenchies have a blue tint rather than a lilac one. Isabella French Bulldogs can have light-colored eyes, which can be light brown, blue, gray, or amber. They may have white markings on their chests and faces. Their noses tend to be grayish-brown or pale pink, and they often have pale pink skin around their eyes, nose, and mouth. Isabella French Bulldogs are very rare. There are also lilac Merle French Bulldogs which are very rare, but they have a different coat pattern than the regular lilac Frenchie. Breeders have to breed them carefully to get the distinctive Isabella coloring. You might also hear of the lilac Frenchie. Since the Isabella coat color has a lilac hue like the lilac Frenchie, you might wonder what the difference is! The truth is that both the Isabella and the lilac Frenchie are essentially the same thing, just under different names. You might see the terms used interchangeably online. How Are They Bred? Chromosomes are structures that store part or all of the DNA of an animal. Alleles are variants of a gene. For each place on the chromosome where a gene is, there are two alleles so, two variants. One comes from each parent, to make the two. The gene that causes this lilac color is a recessive gene. This just means that its effect is only shown in the dog if there are two alleles for that coat color. So, Frenchies need to inherit the lilac gene from both parents! You might hear this being referred to as homozygous, which just means two copies of the allele. The dilution gene just means that the liver color will be lightened, to create that unique lilac hue. For example, the locus for the liver, brown, or chocolate color in dogs is called the B locus. If you see it written as BB, this means the dog has two copies of the allele like we discussed earlier. The locus for the rare dilute gene is called the D locus. If you see it written as DD, the dog has two copies of the allele. BB for the liver color, and DD for the dilution of the color. Breeding To make sure the puppies inherit this coat color, both parents need to have the gene. They either both need to be Isabella Frenchies themselves or have a DNA test to ensure they have the genes required before breeding. There must be a testable chocolate gene, meaning the vet can prove the dog carries the gene. Since French Bulldogs have large heads and small hips, breeding naturally can be quite difficult. This is the main reason a lot of French Bulldog breeders turn to artificial insemination for the breeding process to keep the dogs safe and get effective results. It can be shortened and referred to by the female name Isabella. It was first noted in England in reference to Queen Elizabeth I in when talking about one of her gowns. The terms Isabelline or Isabella have been used since to talk about the color of animals, including French Bulldogs, other dogs, and horses. Essentially, the reason the term Isabella was first used to reference the lilac French Bulldog is unknown. The story goes that they are named after the daughter of the King of Spain whose name was Isabella. Apparently, Isabella refused to change her underwear until Spain won a battle for a fortress. Unfortunately, the siege went on for three years! The story says that she stuck to her promise, and her underwear turned a unique color. Hence the name of the dog. Not very pleasant! Therefore, they cannot be registered as an official French Bulldog with the Kennel Club. The American Kennel Club breed standards only list a certain number of specific Frenchie colors and the lilac Frenchie is not one of them. Like other French Bulldogs, Isabella Frenchies are prone to a range of health issues. One of their main health problems is issues with their breathing. Breeds of dog that are brachycephalic can suffer from brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome , which causes abnormalities in their airway. Brachycephalic dogs often find it tough to breathe properly. Their respiratory problems also make them high risk in hot weather and can make going under anesthetic risky. They were originally bred to be service dogs and not a 'designer' pet. The Labradoodle breed started with a request over thirty years ago by a family needing a seeing eye dog but who also had a family member with asthma. After some research and years of breeding by leading service dog breeders, Tegan Park and Rutland Manor in Australia, the Australian Labradoodle was born. Our top goal is excellent health, fantastic temperament, and service qualities. Just like any other breed that becomes popular, though, some breeders have started breeding for the popularity of these dogs and not for the benefit of the breed itself. So here's how to make sure you're getting the dog you want. Here are some helpful tips to understand what a breeder means when they are using these phrases. The multi-generation Australian Labradoodle, which is the original Labradoodle, has a foundation stock including six different parent breeds. These dogs were developed in Australia, and hence the "Australian" in the name of the dogs. This was a breed that was developed with goals in mind for a low shedding service dog, not a designer dog. The multi-generation Labradoodle has only poodle and lab in its heritage. It does not include the other parent breeds that were originally used by the creators of the breed. These have been primarily developed later in the U. These dogs tend to shed their coat since they are more closely related to the Labrador and often have a wire hair look to them. The "Back Cross" or "F1B" is a dog from an F1 see above mated back to a poodle usually for coat correction. These dogs have not had the multiple generations of Labradoodle mated with another Labradoodle nor the addition of Australian Labradoodle foundation stock or multiple parent breeds. Here are some qualities of a reputable and trustworthy breeder. Extensive Knowledge Make sure that you work with an experienced breeder who has a lot of knowledge about breeding programs and Labradoodles. A good breeder should be capable of answering any questions you have and be welcoming and willing to answer your questions. You can ask breeders questions about their breeding practices or the kind of care their puppies receive. A good breeder will also provide extended support after you bring one of their puppies home. For example, many reputable breeders participate in Guardian Home programs so that their breeder dogs grow up in loving families and safe homes. Responsible Labradoodle breeders will also provide early socialization for their puppies and handle and hold them daily. Look for breeders that work with a trusted veterinarian to properly vaccinate and deworm their puppies and do a complete health exam. Although most puppies from a reputable breeder are healthy, there may be rare instances where they have a significant health condition. Therefore, a good breeder should have some sort of health guarantee and return warranty. Wrap Up Labradoodles can brighten up your life and bring a lot of joy to your family. Should a Lab Mix take after their Labrador Retriever parent, they will be a playful, energetic, and affectionate dog that loves their families. Labrador Retrievers are energetic dogs that tend to have an extended puppyhood. They are also social, friendly, and tend to be patient and gentle with children. This makes them fantastic pets as they also tend to get along well with other dogs and even other pets, despite their retriever tendencies. If the other parent breed has a similar temperament, then you can expect the same from a Labrador Retriever Mix. You still want to ask questions about the other parent breed as they are bound to introduce some potential quirks of their own. Although Labs are happiest with room to run, they adapt well to apartments as long as they get enough exercise, mental stimulation, and affection. They also do well in most climates, but do not like to spend long stretches of time alone. If the other parent breed is also highly adaptable, then you can expect the same from a Labrador Retriever Mix. Are mixed-breed dogs healthier than purebred dogs? As with purebred dogs, health often depends on reputable breeding practices. Just as a mix can inherit none of the conditions common to their parent breeds, they could also inherit all of them or some combination of them. From the Labrador side, potential health concerns to be aware of in a Labrador Mix include patellar luxation , hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and cataracts. The other parent breed will likely introduce some other potential conditions to this list. Reputable breeders screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. Labrador Retrievers are highly trainable dogs that can be a good fit for owners of any experience level. First-time owners may have a challenge at first with their high energy and exuberance, but tend to be successful. If the other parent breed is also highly trainable, then you can expect the same from a Labrador Retriever Mix. If the other parent breed tends to be more challenging to train, then you will want to be prepared for that potential and be ready to enroll in puppy training classes if you need them. A Lab Mix can end up with a coat similar to one of their parents or a coat that is truly a mix of both. Should they inherit the Labrador Retriever coat, it will be short and will shed throughout the year with heavier shedding as the seasons change. Weekly brushing and the occasional bath keep a Lab coat healthy. Trimming nails once or twice monthly keeps them from growing too long. Because dental care is often overlooked, gum disease is one of the most common health issues in dogs. Brushing teeth every day or using an enzyme toothpaste daily in addition to cleanings at the vet as needed helps prevent painful dental diseases later in life. Labrador Retrievers are high-energy working dogs that need plenty of exercise and a job to do to be happy. If the other parent breed is also a high-energy dog breed, then you should expect a Labrador Mix to be a high-energy dog as well. Even if the other parent breed sits in a lower activity range, you will still want to be prepared for the potential of a high-energy dog should they take after their Lab parent. Fully-grown Labrador Retrievers tend to stand inches tall and weigh pounds. The other parent can have a big effect on this, especially if they are the mother. Labs generally live for years. Although the other parent breed could affect this slightly, you should be able to expect a similar average life span from a Labrador Retriever Mix. Featured Labrador Mix Article.
