Please keep in mind you are NOT on a list for a specific mom, but on a reservation list you can still let us know the MOM you want if you want a particular one, and we will honor that if we have enough puppies in that particular litter. The number of puppies a mom has and the genders selected will determine which litter you will select from. We will not know this for sure until puppies are born and in many cases we will not know until selections due to some choosing not to select a gender until selection day. Once you have selected a specific gender, you may not change. This means we may not always know which gender will be left as our last selection. If you are the last one to select and the puppy is not what you had in mind you will have the option of moving to the next litter in the order you were in to begin with. At that time, I will contact those on the waiting list first to offer the puppy to them before advertising on our Facebook page. No puppy can be held for more than 14 days unless prior arrangements are made. No puppies go in grass at this time, but in an outside area with a turf like cover. Light claws are easier to cut than dark claws as the blood vessels and nerves that supply the toenail, called the quick, is easier to see. Cut the toenail to within approximately 2 mm of the quick. If you cut into the quick, the toenail will bleed and the dog will experience pain — nothing serious, but they might not sit too still the next time you undertake this task. When cutting dark toenails, it is better to cut just a little off at a time. While German shepherds are not an aggressive breed, they developed a bad reputation in the 20th century when the German Nazi army started using them as working dogs. Fortunately, today, their reputation is largely recuperated, and they are often seen working with police and in roles such as search and rescue. Golden shepherds were first bred around .The intention with this mixed breed was to create a dog with the courage, quickness, and alertness of the German shepherd but also with the good nature of the golden retriever, which is also intelligent, highly trainable, and easy to please. You can expect a golden shepherd to be playful and friendly, but a little bit warier of strangers than your standard golden retriever. Both parent breeds are highly intelligent and also eager to please. German shepherds, in particular, are also independent thinkers and problem solvers. This means golden shepherds are easy to train, as they learn new commands quickly and enjoy the rewards that come with completing them, but they are also good at knowing what is required of them in new circumstances. Golden shepherds, like both of their parent breeds, are incredibly loyal and will want to be around their people all the time, whether that is out and about, or curled up on the couch at home. This can lead to frustration and destructive behavior. They are naturally protective of children, and despite being large breed dogs, they are very aware of their own size and strength and know how to play gently with children. However, it could be a struggle to have this breed with very young children, as they have lots of playful energy, and this can be overwhelming for smaller folks. Golden Shepherd Energy And Exercise Golden shepherds, like both their parent breeds, are high-energy dogs. Additionally, golden shepherds need at least an hour of fairly intense exercise each day. This means running around the dog park and sniffing everything, playing catch, and going for a swim rather than just a casual walk. They should be getting less exercise as puppies, despite their apparent energy, as too much exercise can undermine their proper development. While they are growing, they should have about five minutes of exercise per day per month of age. So at four months, they need 20 minutes of exercise each day, and at six months, they need half an hour. As adult dogs, they will love joining you on longer adventures, such as hikes and boat trips and will have no problem keeping up. Bear in mind that, while they are natural swimmers, if you go out on a boat, they should be wearing a flotation vest. They love their food, and we love to reward them with delicious treats. Remember, every treat you give them also contains calories! Also, never feed them off your own plate. They already tend to think they are human, and this can just lead to begging at the table and food theft! Plus, a lot of the foods humans eat are toxic to dogs. This not only includes chocolate and fake sugar, but also common kitchen staples such as onion and garlic. Invest in good quality food for your dog and avoid giving them table scraps. They're extremely loyal and are great with kids once they have grown out of their main puppy stage. Even when they're old, they're like big babies. Not a lot of grooming is required other than their nails and face wrinkles along with other normal grooming requirements. I do not recommend getting a boxer if you won't give your companion a lot of attention and if they don't have enough room to run around. He lived 10 years and died of lung cancer. He was raised in a no smoking house and ate life abundance dog food his whole life. He was my best friend, loyal, sociable and very obedient. He was high energy until he died. He was confident and was not shy. Our guests were his guests. He was a blessing to our home. She was the most even tempered, kid friendly dog I have ever met. Even though she could be skittish, she never once nipped or was aggressive toward humans or other dogs, and play-fought with puppies. She was friendly toward every guest we ever had and loved to play with tennis balls. My mother bought Roxann after my father died. The only issue is that they are so loveable but so big they love to jump up on people and this is something that you need to teach them as puppies. They are just so silly and goofy and loyal and loving, you will forever be laughing and full of love once you bring a boxer into your life. We have had many dogs but this breed by far has been the easiest to train and the most playful. Make sure as well that you have what you need to effectively train your dog. If you're planning to clicker train, get a clicker. If you're planning to crate train, get the right-sized crate. Also be sure to pick up an appropriate collar and leash for general training. A leash should be no more than five to six feet in length. The best leashes for training are leather. Leash Training Boxer Dogs All dog breeds must be taught how to stay on the leash and get used to it. You will be taking your dog for walks regularly, and using the leash is the only way to control them while they are out. Boxer dog training cannot be complete without this important lesson. Make sure that you have a suitable and comfortable collar and leash for your boxer. Again, keep a tasty treat with you when you are on a walk and offer it whenever the dog stays by your side. Remember, these sessions should be kept short and positive. You should constantly lure it towards yourself so it learns to walk with you. When it starts to act like a devil and keeps pulling away, then ignore it. When your dog comes back to you, reward it. Always troubleshoot related leash behavior problems by sticking to this strategy. Crate Training For Boxers Your dog must know how to stay in a crate happily. You can teach them to do so by providing them a large and comfortable crate. When you start to crate train your Boxer, you can expect some crying and whining initially. It is possible to have very minimal white markings and not carry the parti gene, as well as possible to carry the parti gene and not have white markings. Brindle is also a recessive gene, so both parents have to carry for it to have Brindle puppies. Brindles can have a variety of intensities in the markings ranging from bold striped patterns to barely visible. Sable is a gene that gives the coat a two toned look to it. Sables will change colour with age as well. The black tips to their coat will not be visible as an adult, other than possibly the tips of the ears and some on the legs. This is a picture of a puppy that still has the dark tips of her coat. I will hopefully eventually get an adult picture up here to show you the difference when they grow. Silver is a gene that fades the coat to silver over time. These puppies usually start to show signs of being a silver at weeks old. There are many varying degrees of Silver from Black will minimal Silver markings to a dog that goes almost completely Silver with age. Both parents have to carry for this gene in order to see it in their offspring and therefore to see it you need two copies of the gene or the proper combination of the phantom gene and recessive black gene, which is very rare. It is shown by markings on the face, eyebrows, chest, interior of all four legs and under their tail. It is not seen if the dog is in the Apricot Spectrum of colours and is only seen on a solid Black or solid Chocolate dog but can have other genes with marking show, as seen below. It is normally seen as Apricot on Black and Cream on Chocolate, but can have a variety of shades and intensities. Some Phantom's will have bold Phantom markings and some will have very minimal Phantom markings. Parti is also a recessive gene. You need both parents to carry the parti gene in order to see it in the puppies, therefore two copies. Parti is a gene that makes white markings over the body and can act on any other colour. A dog can also be a cryptic Merle, where you do not see the merle markings visibly on the body, but the dog still carries the merle gene. The same gene also produces Reds. You need two copies of this gene for it to be seen on their coat, as it is a recessive gene. These dogs can have either Black or Chocolate pigmentation. All the puppies below have Black pigmentation. This gene can cover a variety of other colours that will not be visible until you cross the Apricot Spectrum colour to a non-apricot spectrum colour, such as Merle, Sable, Phantom and Brindle all seen below. All dogs have a base coat of Black or Chocolate, you can tell whether they are Black or Chocolate based on their pigment on their nose. If there are no other genes acting on the Black or Chocolate, you will see a solid Black or solid Chocolate dog. Black is dominant to Chocolate, so it requires only one copy of the Black gene to give you Black. Chocolate is recessive and require two copies of the gene and therefore both parents have to carry for Chocolate. It is very rare to find a Golden Retriever that carries for Chocolate, therefore in order to get Chocolate you need to have an F1b or higher generation. F1's should not be Chocolate. I have been told of rare occurrences of Chocolate carrying Golden Retrievers, but this is very rare and most breeders selling F1 Chocolates are not purebred lines. Coming Soon. What Is A Goldendoodle? But what is the history of the Goldendoodle? Goldendoodles are first thought to have been bred in as breeders looked to create a versatile guide dog. Golden Retrievers and Labradors often serve a function as guide dogs but neither have a hypoallergenic coat. The Goldendoodle hybrid is thought to have been inspired by the success of the Labradoodles, which was one of the first cross breeds. Wikipedia explains that Goldendoodles can come in multiple generations and it depends on what generation is bred with what. Some generations will show different looks as some are curlier than others. For example, if a Goldendoodle is more poodle, it will have tighter curls. If the Goldendoodle is more retriever then it will have flatter and looser curls. Having said that, the Goldendoodle is recognised by a number of organizations around the world. However, the Goldendoodle Assocation of North America provides a breed standard that their breeders are trying to achieve when they breed these hybrid dogs. The breed was developed by crossing Poodles and the Golden Retriever, and therefore the physical appearance of this breed is a balanced mix of the traits common to those two founding breeds, which are the only two breeds that comprise the Goldendoodle. So the Goldendoodle will inherit traits from both their Golden Retriever and Poodle parents. Coming in three different sizes — standard, mini and petite mini, Goldendoodles can have a coat that is curly, wavy or straight. The Tan Goldendoodle is a pretty common coat color, resulting from the breeding of Apricot and Cream Goldendoodles. There is the Black and White Goldendoodle that usually have splashes of white on their face, chest and paws. These unique markings often lead to the coat pattern being described as a Tuxedo Goldendoodle. As they grow older, their coat will quickly change to a white, gray, or light cream color.
