Working Male Poodles Male poodles have been many traits that can make them excellent service dogs. They do not see it as a job, but as taking care of the person they are bonded to. Care needs to be taken with Toy Poodles as they are the smallest, most delicate variety of the breed. Children can easily break one of their bones or seriously injure them without meaning to if they are not properly supervised. Children need to be taught how to approach and interact with all dogs, but especially one that is in your home. Children should be taught to never approach a dog that is eating or sleeping. Children should never be left unsupervised with a dog, no matter how friendly. Even the nicest dog can bite if they are injured bad enough or in enough pain. Small children often do not mean to harm the dog, they just have not fully learned how to interact. Important Considerations in Choosing a Male or Female Poodle When buying a poodle, there are several things you need to consider besides just the sex of the puppy. Even though on average, males and females do show some differences in personality, they all have particular care needs. What inspired your journey to become the Author you are today? April: My grand kids inspired me. I rediscovered picture books after they were born and loved the intimacy of reading with them. Describe what your ideal writing space looks like? April: I typically do my best work sitting in my recliner with a laptop on my lap. What type of books do you write? What is the title of the latest book you have written? Where did you find the inspiration while writing this book? April: It was inspired by my Labradoodle, Brady and my grand kids. They are all in the book! What does your creative process look like? April: I like to make up stories for the grand kids and I brainstorm and write down the story and read it to the grand kids and get ideas. They are great at telling me the truth about whether they like it or not. Then I have beta readers and an advisory group that I use to get broader feedback. I have a strong editor and work with my illustrator, Len Smith to create the characters and begin bringing the book to life. What advice would you give to a new writer? April: Do a lot of reading in a number of genres, especially the one s you want to write in. Join a community of like-minded people and mentor s to help you get there. What do you love most about being an Author? April: I love creating something that brings families together. Can you tell us about one of the most rewarding moments you have had as an author? April: Recently Jayden sent me a story that he wrote himself. It was only a handful of sentences, but brought his Mom to tears. He is Autistic and has a very hard time writing. He and I have been corresponding after the first time his Mom emailed me telling me how much he loved the book. She was excited that it held his attention and he was able to read it for himself. It lifts my heart knowing that I am making a difference. Are you working on anything at the present that you would like to share with your readers about? April: My next story is in progress.
