However, dogs can recall your training commands through associative memory, which means they remember based on associations and not memories. Usually, puppies will need to go early in the morning, after a meal, and after a play session. Use their natural rhythm for daily poop walks. Dogs hate messing in their sleeping area, and most will usually hold it. Walk your Golden after his morning meal and hang around for 15 minutes or so to allow him to poop. Do the same in the evening. Puppies need to be allowed to relieve themselves every hour, and a short walk every hours is an ideal routine. Again, we did not have a puppy raiser to train him and we looked to a service dog organization we volunteered with in the past. They fell in love with Buster on the spot and adopted him into their POOCH program where he is being trained at a prison to be a service dog. We kept our Lil Bear to train as a service dog. ALAA Members need to notify Optigen of dogs already tested, their test numbers, and which category they should be in. Here is exactly what the CKC has to say about these misc. CKC will recognize a cross between any two purebred dogs, and will issue a registration certificate on their offspring. These crosses are not registered as purebred dogs but are registered as the offspring of purebred dogs. The registration certificate for these crosses will show MISC followed by the two parent breeds. After a name has been assigned, we encourage those breeders who are breeding this cross to form their own breed club in order to set a standard for the dogs to breed true. The dogs from these crosses will not be registered as purebred until the dogs are breeding true to standard for several generations. By allowing the breeders the option of developing new breeds, we are promoting the breeding of better dogs. With Continental Kennel Club, new breeds must be developed in at least 3 different closed colonies. We started getting reports that the offspring of these breeding were stronger, healthier, and less susceptible to diseases. When they bred the same Poodles to Poodles, their puppies were not as healthy, weaker, and more susceptible to disease, and they raised fewer puppies per litter. We were receiving information of this type from almost all of the crosses. With this type of data being compiled, we began doing crosscheck questionnaires and gathering other information about these unusual reports. This information that is being collected in our database will be of tremendous value in the study of genetics in the future. Our information, so far, seems to indicate that when two different breeds are crossed, the puppies seem to be far heartier, easier to raise, and less susceptible to diseases, which is now being confirmed by top geneticist worldwide. To this end, we hope to provide for the breeding of healthier and more vibrant dogs, which will be less susceptible to diseases. We have never been removed or asked to leave an association or website listing. We made these decisions based on a difference of direction from both associations for different reasons. We feel both associations do a fair job and have specific principles. Until such time that our ideals cross we will remain separate and a member of the various other networks that support collaboration among breeders, provide valuable services to owners and potential owners and parallel our own path for the good of the breed. If you are not able to buy a puppy from one of these accredited breeders and you have never purchased a labradoodle puppy before, then how do you avoid buying one from a backstreet breeder or puppy mill? These people breed puppies for profit and sell them to the first person who turns up with the cash. These puppies can develop serious health problems due to poor breeding. Unfortunately, there is a great deal of misunderstanding around what a crossbred dog is, never mind how pedigrees and Kennel Club registration work. A lot of people believe or hear that buying a puppy that is Kennel Club registered offers some form of protection or guarantee when this really is not the case. A few definitions to begin with… A pure breed or breed generally refers to a group of dogs from a known and registered set of ancestors within a closed stud book. A purebred dog is registered with the Kennel Club and has a pedigree proving that the dam and sire are of the same Kennel Club recognised pure breed. Crossbred dogs are intentionally bred from two or more recognised purebred dogs or different breeds. Crossbred dogs can only be registered with the Kennel Club as Companion Dogs or on the Activity Register; they cannot be Kennel Club registered in the traditional sense. A pedigree dog is any dog with recorded ancestry. This can be a purebred dog with a Kennel Club pedigree, a crossbred dog with a handwritten pedigree or anything in-between. Pedigree is often confused with purebred and this is the root cause of much misunderstanding. A mongrel is a dog which does not have known or recorded ancestry. So where does the Australian Labradoodle fall into the equation? The Australian Labradoodle is a crossbred. Australian Labradoodles can and should have a pedigree because they are from known lines and therefore should have recorded ancestry — they are not mongrels. Australian Labradoodles cannot be Kennel Club registered in the traditional sense because they are not members of a pure Kennel Club recognised breed. We are licensed by the environment health department of our local authority — they inspect our premises, dogs, puppies and record keeping along with an independent veterinary surgeon every year. It is down to individual buyers to do their own research and select a breeder with good breeding practices. Since they do not derive from a closed stud book, the inbreeding coefficient COI is likely to be considerably lower which reduces the likelihood of recessive defects. Within some breeds, the gene pool is so small that it is virtually impossible to find an individual with a low COI. It is also worth noting here that it is possible for crossbred puppies to have a high COI if two closely-related individuals are bred together. Of course, this is a good thing, but it is not that simple. Inbreeding co-efficiencies are cumulative and should reflect as many generations as there is data available for.
