WELCOME The Northern Ireland Boxer Rescue Society was formed on 12th October by a group of concerned boxer owners and breeders who were worried about the large number of boxer puppies being bred by back street breeders and puppy farmers mills with no thought or concern for the puppies they produced. Our aim is to help the welfare of the Boxer Breed - specifically those that through no fault of their own become homeless, whether this occurs due to a change in the owners circumstances or because they have been callously abused or abandoned. We compile and maintain a list of people who are prepared to take on a rescue dog and provide a secure and loving home for the rest of the boxers life. All the people on our list have been "home checked" and approved by our committee members who complete a detailed questionnaire to help us select the right home for a particular dog. Please be aware that not everyone passes a home check by us and a promise made to you by the new owner as regards spaying etc, may not actually happen. DONATIONS As with all rescue organisations, we depend on donations through car boot sales, raffle tickets and the like, to help us meet the ongoing kennel and veterinary fees. We take in Boxers and sometimes Boxer crosses from pounds, adverts and abandonment cases from all over Northern Ireland. In December a small group of Facebook friends decided that enough was enough after seeing large numbers of Boxers in pounds. Since then we have rescued and rehomed 37 boxers and 6 boxer crosses. Fourty-three dogs in total. We frequently assist other rescue groups in helping them find forever homes for their rescues. We share photos of dogs seeking homes, offer advice to people who seek to rehome their dogs and often do home checks for groups who are too far away to do them. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated team who travel the length and breadth of Northern Ireland rescuing strays and cruelty cases from pounds some of these dogs are hours away from being put to sleep. We use experienced in home fosters so we do not pay kennel fees also this gives dogs who may have never been in a home environment a bit of home comforts and helps them adjust to Family life ie hoovers and washing machines. We spay and neuter all dogs who come to us and we prefer rehome in Northern Ireland so as we can keep check that everything is running smoothly and there are no problems. He has been taught sit, "high five" and down position. He has not however been taught much lead manners. He needs a bit off work in that department. I would reccomend some obedience classes for him as he is very clever. Very friendly with adults, children and dogs. He can be over friendly with dogs in that all he wants is play and he can be a bit "full on". Loves his toys and balls. He needs a fully enclosed garden and he would suit an energenic active Family who enjoy the outdoors. Axel had been left from 6 am - 8 pm by his previous owner. She has a very muscular body and a soft coat. Overall, she is a great pet and this seems to be a good combination of breeds. She has tons of wrinkles and a nice, short coat. I wanted an English Bulldog and my husband wanted a Shar Pei so we met in the middle hoping that she will not have any of the major health problems from either breed. Although when we go to welcome another new family member into our home I believe we will go with a breeder who is looking to better the breed itself and stick with purebred. Also be careful what you are getting yourself into with the mix of these two breeds, you may end up with an alpha and one very stubborn little pup. With proper training and hopefully she will find her place in our home and enjoy her life. I have been watching a lot of Cesar Millan and I am using a lot of his techniques to help with training.
