We began breeding labs 20 years ago in our home in Narragansett. This will be our 8th litter as a family breeder. We have owned 6 dogs in the course of our lives. Right now we have a black female Katy, who is the grandma of Erin. Erin is our 6 year old Chocolate and mom of our current litter to be. Erin's dad was a handsome black lab named Rocco. Rocco lived in South Kingstown. We now own of the most gorgeous and yellow Stud Duke. Duke turned 4 years old in January and he is a Giant lovable Lab. We met a new gorgeous stud named Bowen who is a black lab. He will be the dad of our current litter to be. He is a gentle smart handsome boy. We plan to keep a female to continue breeding as we are retiring Erin! We have 3 adult children who are also very involved in our litters. Our puppies are raised in a family environment and will live with us in our living room at all times. They will be crate trained during the evening and when we are not home. They will also be raised around 1 cat. The families who have our puppies have adopted from us on multiple occasions and have made referrals for other families. So in essence we are a friends and family Breeder. We feel our dogs reputations speak for themselves. AKC proudly supports dedicated and responsible breeders. We encourage all prospective puppy owners to do their research and be prepared with questions to ask the breeder. Dogs will leave our home to yours with a clean bill of health, deworming, and first shots. We work off of a waiting list. There is no cost to be on the list. We have owned and bred American Bulldogs since .As a breeder, it has always been my dream to have and produce extremely large and bully monsters while maintaining the agile athleticism of a true working dog. So I hit the books and the internet to gain as much knowledge as I could. I discovered a dog with compact muscle, immense strength, agility, extreme bully looks, courage, loyalty and a brain that can fill their basket ball heads. The American Bulldog was the breed for me! The research didn't stop there. I had only scratched the surface. I now had an insane amount of styles of American Bulldogs in front of me. After years of researching bloodlines, I narrowed it down. What's in the works Are dogs are very important to use and apart of our family. We are Health testing all of our current stock and adding new blood that is also health tested to our lines. As you know we got big goals, adding new blood is tricky. We are currently in the process of combining show quality with huge bone and thick muscle! Maintaining show quality structure on the biggest thickest beast we can get it on is the goal. We love the shock and awe that DAKK'S dog already get no matter the crowd they are in but we want more. Who doesn't love an impressive dog that not only is built on quality but can move and even work. Last updated Feb 16th Let us introduce ourselves. .I really don't like to call us a kennel we are more of an example of bulldog enthusiasts who happen to maybe have a few more pet dogs then the average person lol! We have an amazing ranch that we live on and no expense is spared on our dogs. We got our first American Bulldog at the beginning of and that's been the only breed of dog for us since then.It always surprises me how few of us "old school bulldoggers" are actually still here. Since we have become very involved in the breed we both go overseas and judge shows and we have put on show's and contributed bulldog articles to Dog Fancy among other things. Our first dogs were Suregrip lines Rip N. Woody, Freddie Kreugger, etc. We like dogs how they used to be when we first started You will never see us breeding to flavour of the week or whatever hyped up dog"the newbies" think will sell. .We will also never be producing black or blue bulldogs. We take a lot of pride in producing our own dogs that we show and later may put in our program. .We are not like most folks in that we have several different styles of American bulldogs. .I actually don't think there is anyone in the world that has had a much sucess as us with both types. We try and meet somewhere in the middle with our hybrid American bulldogs that we both like.We only produce a litter for the purpose of improving on what we have and always keep a puppy or two, we always reserve the top picks for our selves from each breeding. Some years we produce no pups and others we may have a few litters, we are not a large kennel and don't keep many dogs ourselves as we like them all to have plenty of time with us in and out of the house. Many of our dogs, especially our studs are raised and live with our friends and we co own or keep breeding rights on them. This has proved to work out really well for both us the dog's and there new family. All of our pups are born and raised in our home and all of our dogs are family members that will live out their lives with us,they are not retired to live with strangers or sold on to someone who wants to have a few litters out of them but remain with us for as long as they are around.I can honestly say I have never sold an adult American Bulldog on to another "breeder". .I really don't agree with passing dog's around especially American Bulldogs as they bond so deeply with their families. .We have had many American Bulldogs through out the years, some that we no longer have are on our site to show you where we started and what direction we're heading in, you will find all our old family members on our foundation page. Special thanks to Kyle Symmes of Suregrip kennels for all his help through out the years and for all our foundation stock. Please remember that although the American Bulldog is an incredible breed with a lot to offer it is often to much dog for alot of people, they are a dominant guardian breed, can be stubborn and do best with someone who has experience with such types of dogs. They also don't get along with dominant dog's of the same sex. .Please do your research on the breed before purchasing an American Bulldog and also on the breeder you choose. No part of this American Bulldog web site may be used in any form or any means without the express written consent of Bybee's American Bulldogs. Any use of this data without such written consent is punishable by law. .We specialize in Bully-type, also sometimes referred to as Johnson American Bulldogs. However on occasion we do produce fantastic standard- and hybrid-type American Bulldogs. We breed for functional and balanced temperament allowing for the American Bulldog to be a family member and a companion while having the drive and intelligence to perform desired functions. At Grand Future, we typically produce large American Bulldogs. Males range in lbs and females range in lbs. We have always bred to a significantly stricter breed standard than the current American Bulldog breed standards under U. Dogs with the following characteristics are not shown at conformation shows nor bred in our kennel: 1. Full black mask — this genetic trait is usually a result of another breed having been infused into the gene pool. Usually a dog with a kinked tail itself is not at risk of health complications as a result of the kinked tail. Teeth — dogs missing more than 3 teeth. Dogs lacking full pigmentation are more susceptible to various health problems. Lack of pigment is also responsible for deafness in dogs. We have never produced a deaf dog. Interested in a puppy? We have many repeat buyers — over 30 families have purchased 2,3,4, and even 5 dogs. Our dogs generally love children and have balanced temperament. Having produced over dogs in 7 generations, we have history and data that allows us to make some conclusions that we believe are significant. The very common problem of hip dysplasia that afflicts this breed is nearly non-existent in our kennel. Our dogs tend to have normal locomotion — good movement due to anatomically sound physical structure. Our dogs have never torn ligaments such as the Canine Cruciate Ligament CCL , which leads us to conclude that such problems are likely hereditary in nature. Our dogs have never prematurely died from heart problems, which leads us to conclude that such problems are likely hereditary in nature. Our dogs have never been diagnosed with tracheal hypoplasia — a hereditary genetic defect common in bulldog breeds that leads to potential deadly obstruction of the airway. Our dogs tend to live long. Our foundation dog lived to the age of 15 years and 10 months old. Our dogs have never been afflicted with cancer at a young age. The earliest instance of cancer has been encountered at 8 years of age by one dog. The remainder of cases have been documented at over 10 years of age. The biggest tragedy for an owner is in having to care for a sick dog as a result of poor breeding, and be absolutely helpless as that dog passes in their arms. Exorbitant medical bills end up being paid to prolong the time together even by just a little with the beloved family member. As with any animal breeding program, our kennel is not immune from problems. This drives us to continually improve. We maintain contact and help our owners in any way we can; even at 4AM or during a vacation since we have owners all over the world in various timezones. Our breeding expertise enables us to deliver healthy, beautiful, strong, and intelligent American Bulldog puppies. We provide a contractual health guarantee against the following genetic health problems — hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, Canine Cruciate Ligament CCL ruptures, cataracts, entropion, ectropion, heart, kidneys, thyroid, ichthyosis, cryptorchidism, epilepsy, and any neurological disorders including NCL. Our conversation with a prospective owner always involves questions to understand the kind of dog the person would like — the more details the better. If so inclined, the prospective owner can request guidance in picking the puppy based on personality and activity level, temperament, phenotype, and more. We evaluate our puppies at 6 weeks of age on a variety of parameters. We provide lifetime unlimited advice and guidance by phone to owners concerning all subjects relating to dog ownership. You can be sure you will have the information you need to succeed even if this is going to be your first American Bulldog puppy. Because we stand by the quality of our work, we want our owners to participate in our breeding program and we are happy to provide the necessary guidance. Our dogs are also ideal candidates for service animal work. Training a service dog requires a significant investment of time and money, making the genetic health and temperament of the dog even more critical. A service dog needs to be healthy, hassle-free, intelligent and receptive to training, have stable temperament to handle any type of environment, and of course lead a long life disease-free. All of these selective requirements for service dog candidates make Grand Future American Bulldogs an ideal fit. Join us in our mission of producing the best American Bulldogs possible! Professional worry-free shipping worldwide Of course our preference is for you to come visit our home, get acquainted with us, and pick up your new American Bulldog puppy in person. However, we understand that it is not feasible for everyone. Even if you do not live anywhere near Nevada, do not be concerned — we are highly experienced at shipping our American Bulldog puppies worldwide, as even just the list of our Grand Champions and Champions spanning 9 nations attests. We can prepare all necessary export documentation. Search this website. We refuse to call ourselves a kennel being that none of our dogs live in kennels. Our program is centered on a 5 acre property which gives all of our dogs plenty of room to run and stretch their paws. Our goals are simple: We expect to breed large, thick-boned, broad chested, sloppy faced American Bulldogs with huge heads! Our dogs should resemble Spike from the original Tom and Jerry cartoons. Slightly on the heavy side, powerful with large jaws. To accomplish this feat we have imported the best dogs form different parts of the world and brought them home to Temecula. It is pretty sad, but yes, we had to go outside of America to find our foundation dogs that most resembled what an American Bulldog should look like. Although, Tino Ortega of Ortega American Bulldogs located in Rialto, California has some monsters on his yard, in which we of course have bred with. Our motivation behind our breeding program has been that we are a huge lover of the breed and how many folks we have met through the years with American Bulldog puppies with high hope of having a huge dog, but only to be disappointed with a small headed skinny boned dog. So many breeders breed junk and are too focused on their kennels producing a form of income. We make plenty of money through our family owned construction business. We do not need money from our dogs to pay our bills or put food on the table. We are solely focused on producing the best dogs the breed has to offer.
For the complete list please see our Breeder Listings page. The price of the pup will depend on the breeder from which you are buying it from as well as its bloodline and color. Even though the price is usually more expensive, you can be sure that this type of registration comes with benefits as well as recommendations from other breeders and owners who have dealt with them before. A great place to start looking for reputable breeders in your area is on the internet via Google or Facebook where you can see what kind of dogs they have produced in the past and what clients have said about their services. How to Find A Responsible Boxer Breeder in Minnesota Responsible Boxer breeders should be able to provide you with many things such as health records, registration forms and even a written sales contract. Responsible breeders will also require an application from anyone who wishes to purchase a pup from them so they can choose whether or not you have what it takes to provide a great home. This is done in order to avoid impulse buying and possible backyard breeding which has been known to happen more often than most people realize. A good breeder should be clean, organized and have a large number of healthy pups roaming around the place freely which is a clear sign that they are loved and cared for properly. There should also be a range of sizes from tiny to extra-large since this breed comes with many different personalities as well as body types. Visiting your breeder will also give you a chance to meet and play with the puppies which is important because it gives you the opportunity to see their personalities as well as what they are like around other dogs, people and kids. Be sure not to pick up any pups unless given permission by the breeder because this shows them that you care about their space and boundaries. Questions to Ask Ask for References from Your Boxer Breeder in Minnesota You can normally tell a great breeder by the kind of people he or she hangs around with. Any responsible breeder would also have no problem giving you references from other clients so be sure to ask them for these without sounding too pushy and keep track of anyone that they mention. The cost of your puppy is not what should be important here but rather the kind of person you are getting it from since a good breeder will always put your needs before their own when it comes to selling a pup. Since pups spend practically every second with their mothers before being taken home, past customers can easily give an honest answer on how well raised and socialized they are with other animals as well as people so pay attention. Ask for Photos of Their Parents Many breeders claim that their parents are great family dogs with no behavior issues whatsoever which is what makes them seem perfect for every owner. A good breeder should be more than happy to give you the name and number of their veterinarian so that you can set up a check-up for your pup before signing any contracts. Since pups spend most of their lives inside, they need constant supervision which can be hard with children unless planned properly. All good breeders will be more than happy to give advice or pass you on to someone who can teach you how to get started too. However, the problem usually lies in preventing any of these issues from occurring instead of dealing with them after the fact so just focus on finding a good breeder who will help prevent your pup from being put through unnecessary pain. If you notice anything unusual during potty training then make sure you report it straight away since it could be a sign of an underlying medical issue that needs professional help as soon as possible. Training Your Boxer Puppy to Accept Your Commands Some breeds are very good at picking up commands while others can take longer so be sure to check if your Minnesota puppy has any difficulties. I love animals and love helping people adopt a pet. It all started when attending Missouri State University and I began volunteering at an animal shelter. Let's talk about our sweet boy Henry.Let's keep this momentum going!!! If you don't know Henry's story, Let's talk about him. He's a 4yo male boxer who was hit by a car in Ohio and left for dead. The shelter picked him up, and he waited alone for five long days for his family to come get him. They never came. A complete stranger saw the shelter's story about Henry online and wanted to help. This good Samaritan, despite knowing they couldn't keep Henry long-term, picked him up from the shelter and took him home and began to arrange medical care, while at the same time starting a search for others who could help find Henry a forever home. That's where MNBR comes in. One of our members saw Henry's story and connected us, and we stepped in to help secure a foster and ongoing medical attention for this good boy. Henry's original prognosis was that his injuries were catastrophic. He would need to have one of his legs amputated, plus additional surgeries to address what appeared to be major spine damage as well as damage to two of his other legs and hips. The situation seemed dire. But as it turns out, our boy Henry is a fighter!!! Despite his situation, he was in good spirits and started to show improvements in his legs, so the team decided to move forward with finding a treatment path for him. An MRI and assessment revealed that Henry's injuries, while extensive, were operable, and the orthopedic surgeon believed that they could save all Henry's limbs! Since then, Henry has had several therapies, including new water therapy, and he is healing! Henry is a sweet boy who is the definition of a champ! Henry arrived in Minnesota finally in January, since then he has been being seen at the University of Minnesota Veterinary medical clinic. But we are not getting too excited his care is not over quite yet. And he will also need follow up appointments from the surgery he just endured, bandage changes, etc. Donations are tax deductible. Baby von Bachfeld is a stunning 5 month old German Shepherd. Since people sometimes forget to notify us, some of these dogs may already be adopted. Thunder is a goofy, fun loving, 2 year old purebred German Shepherd in perfect health. He has had a well-rounded upbringing in a loving home and has great obedience. Adoption Policy We require an application first so we can show you dogs who might be right for your home. We know our dogs and once we get to know you better, we can help you select your next family member! Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor. Almost all of our dogs come from the Central Valley and are used to space; it is harder for them to adjust to apartment living, but please check local animal shelters, there are always plenty of dogs available for adoption! If you have submitted an on-line application but have not been approved by our volunteer, please do NOT come down to meet dogs as we won't be able to show you any. As with many large breed dogs, sizing is essential, so we have selected those we found online which fit best. However, it is always better to check measurements before making a purchase. Collar Vs. German Shepherds have a unique head shape, so it is crucial to find an appropriate collar. The core purpose of a collar is to provide ID about your dog as well as any useful health information. As with most big dogs, you need to select a dog collar size that fits well or risk the prospect of it slipping off. Headcollars halters is another popular option. Harnesses are the preferred option. There are several issues with walking a German Shepherd exclusively on a collar and lead. The first, possibly most important, is that should the dog pull while on the lead — it can cause throat injury and discomfort. It also offers little in regards to control and training of your dog, as well as the all-important reduction in pulling behaviour. Harnesses are designed, mostly, to offer a comfortable but controllable way to stop or reduce pulling behaviour in your dog. Fitting Your German Shepherd for a Harness When fitting a dog for any harness — measurement is essential. A harness size which is too loose could slip off, too tight and it will cause discomfort. Types of Harnesses for a German Shepherd Like dog collars , there is a multitude of different types of harnesses. Firstly let us begin with the materials used. Nylon harnesses, as well as Mesh and Leather, are all popular options. It is vital to judge which is best for your German Shepherd. A German Shepherd leather harness , for example, for a dog in the middle of summer on a long trek would not be a great choice also check out cooling vests. Check the materials used are not only breathable but also comfortable for your dog. Secondly, we should consider the harness type. Unfortunately, not all harnesses are equal. Although there are several harnesses available for a low cost, check the reviews. Poorly made harnesses are prone to break — possibly when the dog pulls, and you need it most. Always consider safety when buying anything for your pup. Vest harnesses are excellent options and can be easily put on and taken off of your German Shepherd. Some harnesses even include carrying handles to hold your dog in position or help to lift them. There are several examples of this in the collection below with explanations of each. The last common harness type is tightening or control harnesses. We tend to steer clear of these and do not recommend them for anyone other than experienced dog handlers if at all. They are designed to tighten when your dog pulls. This can cause discomfort for your dog as well as increasing the pulling behaviour as they attempt to escape from the pain. One other type popular with German Shepherd owners is a tactical dog harness vest.
Please be patient. We get hundreds of applications and can't respond to everyone. Your donations pay for expenses to foster doodles, buy pet food, cover veterinary costs, and transportation. We adopt doodles to families that will keep them as inside pets and treat them as family members. We do not adopt to families who are specifically looking for a doodle to train as a service dog. Since the majority of rescue dogs do not meet service dog requirements, this is an unfair expectation of our doodles. We also do not adopt doodles to be given as gifts. We do not permit commercial transport of our dogs, and all adopters are required to personally take their new family member home. If you adopt a doodle from us, it is important to note that rescue dogs typically require leash and other training. Your doodle may keep you up nights, have potty accidents, and other inconveniences for the first couple of weeks. We can't possibly know everything about the health or behavior of any dog in our care. You bear the responsibility of choosing to adopt your dog. If for any reason you are unable to keep your doodle, you are required to contact the California Doodle Rescue. If you are found to be a possible match for one of our doodles, you will be contacted directly by someone from California Doodle Rescue. If contacted, please be prepared for a required phone interview, contacting your references, and or veterinarian checks. Part of our adoption process requires an in-person meet and greet between the doodle and the entire household, including pets of the potential adopting family. If a home visit is not possible, you may be asked to send photos of your home and yard. Adopt a Goldendoodle! If you adopt a Goldendoodle that barks a lot, take the time to get your dog trained. We might get sick or move, and sometimes we may need to find a new job. If you know that these factors could potentially hamper the time you devote to your dog, you may have to put your dog up for adoption. Why Is Adopting a Goldendoodle Rare? Although this is a list of some of the best Goldendoodle rescue shelters and networks in the United States, most of them may not have Goldendoodles up for adoption when you check. Some adoption facilities have never received any Goldendoodles at all despite being open for their rescue. There are a couple of reasons for this. A Goldendoodle puppy needs enough sleep for best health. If these dogs get on any adoption websites or similar websites, they will likely be gone within the first day. This can lead to a puppy mill or dodgy breeder scenario where the popularity makes the breeder chase litter after litter without caring for the dog. A dog owner who adopts from a breeder must take appropriate steps to ensure it is not a puppy mill, and is in fact an ethical and reputable breeder. They form strong bonds with their owners. If owners face any problems with their dogs, they would rather find ways to work through these problems than give them up for adoption. However, Goldendoodles are one of the friendliest and most social dogs out there. Desirable Goldendoodle Personality Goldendoodles are extremely adventurous. Generally, these cute canines are outgoing, friendly, and happy dogs. They love meeting new people and dogs. One thing to remember about these dogs is that they do well in open spaces like spacious yards or country homes. Their affection, intelligence, and bubbly personalities make them great therapy and working dogs. They enjoy mentally stimulating activities. For example, Goldendoodles are known to be able to smell peanuts in foods for people suffering from nut allergies. To satiate their need for activity, you will have to take them out for walks and runs daily. Goldendoodles are also known for enjoying swimming and playing in the water. They Are Good with Children If you have children at home, then adopting a Goldendoodle is a great choice. These dogs play well with kids. They are gentle, loving, and patient around young kids which is one of the reasons they make great family dogs. You should still exercise caution and check on their behavior. You must also teach your children how to behave around dogs. Prevent your child from agitating your Goldendoodle with ear or tail pulling and other rough activities. Like any other animal, dogs are protective of their food and can become aggressive if they perceive a threat. This may not be true for all Goldendoodles, but you should still take precautions to protect your kids. These dogs are social animals and love interacting with other dogs. Wavy coat Goldendoodles are typically low shedding. However, they still need a certain amount of grooming. To prevent them from shedding, some people cut their hair short. It will take some time for the rescue dog to get comfortable around you and you may have to deal with issues like separation anxiety. Goldendoodles require a few hours of activity every day. You will have to spend time walking and playing with them daily. Active play, a visit to a dog park, or fetch are appropraite activities. Grooming Is Imperative Though your new doodle puppy will likely shed lightly, you will still need to groom their coats or have a pet groomer take care of their grooming once a month. Personality The place where the Goldendoodle puppy really excels is its personality. Its breed is known for being simultaneously intelligent and adoring. Just like the Labradoodle, this breed requires correct socialization to ensure they get used to different sights, sounds and smells during puppyhood. This means taking your Goldendoodle to plenty of doggy-friendly parks so they can meet canine friends and introducing them to other people. Both of its poodle and golden retriever parent breeds are known for their intelligence and trainability, and Goldendoodles have inherited this breed trait. This means the person training a Goldendoodle needs to be strong-willed, firm and consistent — but never harsh or aggressive. Much like a poodle, Doodles are sensitive dogs, and positive reinforcement is a must to bring out the best in them. How Obedient Are They? Goldendoodle pups adore human company, and making their pet parents happy brings them genuine satisfaction. As such, correct puppy training produces a highly obedient and loyal adult Goldendoodle. Older adults, people with disabilities and individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders can benefit significantly from the warmth and sweetness of these adorable Goldendoodle pups. Are They Easy to Train? Doodle puppies can be mischievous and cheeky, but aggression is practically unheard of. So as long as you treat them with the same gentle respect they offer, a Goldendoodle is one of the easiest dog breeds to train. Goldendoodles have loads of energy and require regular exercise to maintain a healthy weight and calm temperament. A Goldendoodle need a moderately high level of outdoor activity — usually a minimum of 30 minutes, but ideally one hour, of moderate to vigorous exercise per day will keep Goldendoodle puppies at their best. Unlike puppy mills, all good puppy and dog breeders provide a certificate that shows health clearances. At Pride and Prejudoodles, our tests cover common health conditions. As such, you have peace of mind when purchasing your new puppy from us. How Long Do Goldendoodles Live? Goldendoodles live for between 10 and 15 years. We hope you found our guide informative. Vocality level 2 in 5 Disclaimer: While the characteristics mentioned here may frequently represent this breed, dogs are individuals whose personalities and appearances will vary. Please consult the adoption organization for details on a specific pet. Temperament As a crossbreed, it is hard to say for sure which behavioral and personality traits each Doodle will possess. Overall, pet parents report that Goldendoodles are friendly family dogs who do well with children and other pets. Good puppy socialization is key to their development as a well-rounded adult dog. They have an average to high energy level and require roughly minutes of exercise daily. Due to their loyal, people-pleasing nature, Goldendoodles can be easy to train, and if done properly with positive reinforcement, can be extremely obedient pets. They prefer room to run around, so would thrive with a fenced yard. They may not be the greatest choice for apartment dwellers, unless you are big on daily outdoor exercise. Upkeep With an average-to-high energy level, Goldendoodles do best with more active families who can dedicate time to playing games with them. They thrive on socialization and playtime with other dogs to help to burn their energy. Mental stimulation in the form of agility or ongoing training will help keep their adventurous spirit content. If not properly occupied, they can sometimes become destructive -- another reason why they might not be the best match for a small apartment. Goldendoodles have a double coated fur that can be quite dense. Some have fur that can be left in its natural state but you should still expect to brush it out roughly once per week. Others may have fur that will require more upkeep, including professional grooming every weeks the more dense the fur, the more it will trap dirt. Otherwise, bathe your Goldendoodle as needed, brush teeth regularly, and trim nails times per month. Be sure to check and clean their ears to remove any buildup and avoid infections! The mix of the two did not appear in America until the s, but has been gaining popularity as people value a type of dog that could possess the low dander levels of a Poodle and the intelligence and happy personality of a Golden Retriever. The Goldendoodle was originally offered as a larger alternative to the Cockapoo, one of the early intentional crossbreeds. Because Goldendoodles are so popular, they certainly can be found for adoption in animal shelters and Doodle-specific rescues. If sharing your home with a Doodle is your dream, be sure to consider adoption! Related Content. Goldendoodle and Labradoodle Rescue In , we received a call that 24 Goldendoodles needed rescue after a nearby breeding operation was closed. We felt the only choice was to step in and help because these dogs were, after all, half our beloved breed. All quickly found homes, and their adopters were thrilled with their new canine family members. Then greater and greater numbers of Doodles began arriving at our door step, and we decided to make Doodles part of our mission as well. There was a need for rescuing these dogs. That was a decision that brought a firestorm of criticism; however, we are not breeding these dogs, simply helping those that are need of new homes. Goldendoodles — a cross between a Golden Retriever and Poodle — are gaining in popularity, and that in turn generates demand that often leads to unscrupulous breeding and overbreeding. Of course, that results in unwanted dogs and the need for rescue. Friendly: Doodles are generally very affectionate with people, kids, and other dogs. Intelligent: Doodles are very intelligent, which may be a reflection of the Poodle genes. Personality: Goldendoodles are typically very silly dogs with crazy, outgoing personalities. A good sense of humor goes along way when bringing a Doodle into your home. Grooming: Like Goldens, do require grooming, including daily brushing to prevent painful knots. Because of so many of the similarities between Goldens and Doodles, it made sense for DVGRR to include these dogs in our rescue efforts.

A mixed-breed can inherit any combination of traits from their parents. Should a Pug Mix take after their Pug parent, they will be an affectionate, social dog that loves their families. A Pug tends to be playful, social, friendly, and gentle. They thrive on attention and affection and tend to get along well with children, other pets, and other dogs. As long as they are well-socialized, they also tend to be open and friendly with strangers. They can be prone to barking and it can become a nuisance behavior if you do not train your dog to stop barking early on. If the other parent breed has a similar temperament, then you can expect the same from a Pug Mix. You still want to ask the breeder about the other parent breed as they will likely introduce their own potential quirks. You can also meet the mother in person to get a sense of her temperament and see the behavior she is modeling for her puppies. Although the breeder should have started socialization and training, it is up to you to continue to train and socialize a puppy once you get them home. Pugs are moderately adaptable dogs. Although they do well in apartments as well as larger homes, they are particularly sensitive to heat and cold as a snub-nosed dog breed. They also do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. If the other parent breed is similar, then you should be able to expect the same from a Pug Mix. The other parent breed could still introduce some traits that affect adaptability, so you do want to ask the breeder about them. Mixed-breed dogs can sometimes be healthier than purebred dogs, but it is not a guarantee. They can inherit none, some, or all of the conditions common to their parent breeds. From the Pug side, potential health conditions to be aware of include eye problems, luxating patella , encephalitis, and hip dysplasia. As a brachycephalic, or snub-nosed, dog, they are prone to allergies and respiratory issues. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues on to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both of the parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. A Pug is eager to please and tends to pick up on things quickly. They tend to be a good fit for owners of all experience levels. The other parent breed could make a Pug Mix easy to train or more difficult, so you want to make sure you ask the breeder about them. A Pug Mix can inherit a coat similar to one of their parents or a coat that is truly a mix of both. Should they inherit the Pug coat, it will shed a bit year-round, require weekly brushing, and the occasional bath. Cutting nails once or twice monthly keeps them from growing too long. Ear checks on a weekly basis with careful cleanings as needed can help prevent ear infections. Brushing teeth or using an enzyme toothpaste every day in addition to cleanings at the vet as needed are ideal dental care for dogs. Pugs tend to sit in a low to moderate energy range. Usually, daily walks and some playtime are enough to keep them happy and healthy. They may be up for more activity, but can also get easily overheated. There are safe ways to exercise flat-faced dogs to help make sure they get enough activity. If the other parent breed also has a low to moderate activity level, then you can expect something similar from a Pug Mix. However, if the other parent breed is a higher energy dog, then you will want to make sure you are prepared for the potential of a high-energy dog. Fully-grown Pugs are usually inches tall and weigh pounds. The other parent breed can have a big effect on this, especially if they are the mother. Although it is not a guarantee, you can meet the mother in person to get an idea of what to expect in a fully-grown Pug Mix. A Pug generally lives for years. Although the other parent breed may affect this slightly, but you should be able to expect a similar average life span from a Pug Mix. Featured Pug Mix Article. E-mail Share Do you have concerns about the well-being of your Golden Retriever? Do you care that they obtain the necessary vitamins and minerals to live a long and healthy life? Knowing what's best for them can be challenging. To your good fortune, we have created a list of some of the most effective supplements and vitamins available today that will aid in maintaining any Golden Retriever's health. Pure Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil Taking your Golden Retriever on a diet of geniune, wild Alaskan salmon oil is a great way to help them stay healthy and strengthen their immune system. Your dog's resistance to cancer and other ailments will be significantly bolstered! Omega-3 fatty acid—rich fish, such as tuna and salmon, have been linked to a decreased risk of depression in people, and this is the same concept. These may not seem like much, but because they are so crucial for the immune system's overall defense against infection and the inflammatory response, they have been found to reduce cancer risk. It's no secret that probiotics have gained popularity in both human and animal health. People and animals carry both "good" and "bad" bacteria in their digestive systems. When there is an ailment or inflammation, harmful bacteria, called pathogens, can push out the good bacteria and cause more illness. The immune system can react more quickly and effectively to potential threats when supplemented with probiotics, colonies of live beneficial bacteria. Glandex Soft Chews Your Golden's allergies or digestive issues may stem from a problem with his anal glands. No matter the case, Glandex Soft Chews are among the leading fiber supplements on the market and can significantly improve anal gland health. These are small, marble-shaped glands located in a dog's anus. They secrete a thick, foul-smelling fluid that facilitates defecation. Soft and chewy, Glandex is packed with pumpkin and fiber. Because of the water absorption properties of these supplements, the resulting stool is more substantial and healthier. These bowel movements let your Retriever's anal glands discharge themselves naturally, reducing the risk of infection. Glucosamine is a natural substance that aids cartilage development; however, it might lead to nausea in some dogs. So, these joint chews might be healthier for your Golden Retriever if they already have stomach problems. Due to its impressive track record of enhancing mobility in senior pets, CMO chondroitin is dubbed "The New Glucosamine" and is included in these tasty chews. The MSM in this medication is another excellent component for alleviating joint pain, especially arthritis-related stiffness. Additionally, giving your Golden Retriever these joint chews is an excellent strategy to foster their hip health. Krillex Joint Supplement Most dogs will suffer from orthopedic diseases at some point. Orthopedic problems, like hip and elbow dysplasia, run in the family for Golden Retrievers, and elderly Goldens will probably acquire arthritis. Supplements targeted at the joints have been shown to slow the deterioration of joints, enhance joint function, and decrease pain and disability. For example, Krillex Joint Supplements are a multi-purpose supplement that can be taken as a single chewable tablet. Conclusion There are certainly far too many products on the market for most retriever parents to keep track of them all, including probiotics, fiber, and joint supplements. Your healthy Golden could use one of these supplements. Thus familiarizing yourself with the best brands is in everyone's best interest. Featured Golden Retriever Products. Glucosamine and chondroitin Folic acid Remember that all of these nutrients must be given in proper amounts. This way, your dog will think of the vitamin as a treat instead of a medication. This will make feeding much easier, especially if you have a picky dog. With that, a supplement with a lot number means it has undergone quality control procedures. This also means that the manufacturer is monitoring the movement of the product, so it can be pulled out of the market even before it reaches the end of its shelf life. If canine supplement sellers make too-good-to-be-true promises, you should consider looking for another product. These claims are often unfounded and can potentially pose harm to some dogs. Big brands often have a network of laboratories, advanced manufacturing facilities, and experts that guarantee the efficacy of the vitamins. As much as possible, look for canine vitamins made by pet brands. These brands are also tried and tested by thousands of dog owners around the world. Second, the fact that the brand is willing to refund your purchase says a lot about their confidence in their products. Tips in giving vitamins to your Golden Retriever Is your Goldie picky when it comes to vitamins? If the vet recommended a tablet or pill form, the following hacks would help trick your dog into taking the supplement: Mix it with food. Slather it with peanut butter. Another trick pet owners recommend is covering the vitamins with peanut butter. This will mask the undesirable taste of the pill or tablet. Place it inside a strawberry. Conceal it in a piece of cheese. Bait and switch. You can trick your dog into taking the supplement by giving it a few treats in a row then tossing the pill at a constant speed. Other vitamins like D and B are also unsafe in large proportions, and accidental ingestion or prolonged use often has severe consequences. Observation is key to ensuring that you do not exceed the daily recommended dose. You may consult your veterinarian for proper advice and suggestions on the correct use of supplements. Research multivitamin supplements and choose options, preferably with a seal of approval by the National Animal Supplement Council. Xylitol poisoning is the leading cause of liver failure in canines, hence the need to keep products that contain the ingredient away from your pet. In cases of accidental consumption, a quick visit to the ER can save the life of your pooch. Final thoughts Humans and animals need vitamins and minerals to stay healthy and carry out daily activities effectively. Choosing the right supplements for your dogs is essential, especially if the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals are not already present in the dog food. Since getting the right supplements may be difficult, tips to help you through this process are available in this article. You May Also Like.
mini australian labradoodle puppies available now - All the puppies are raised in a loving family environment on their rural homestead. Personal Experience One of the most challenging aspects of bringing your puppy home is potty training him. The first thing to know is that you must start potty training your furbaby from the minute you get him home. When we arrived home with our new puppy, the first thing we did was take him straight out into the garden. As soon as the little guy relieved himself, I made a big fuss of him, and then we went indoors. Mark The Spot! That enabled me to grab the puppy and take him outside before accidents happened. Gradually, Raffles learned where his poop place was, and he quickly gravitated to the spot where the first potty stop was. After a couple of weeks, the accidents became less frequent, and by week four, little Raffles was pretty much potty trained! If you did, please remember to share! Goldendoodles are extremely popular dogs, so you can expect to pay top dollar for a well-bred puppy. Puppies offered for sale at very cheap prices are often from puppy mills or backyard breeders. Sandy Ridge Miniature Goldendoodle Miniature goldendoodles have found their place in the lives of many families. Sandy Ridge Miniature Goldendoodle is a leader in the breeding of healthy, happy, and intelligent mini goldendoodles. Our experience with raising miniature goldendoodle puppies has given us much insight on genetics involved and the overall characterizations of this breed. Our family lives in a relaxed rural setting where our adults and puppies are given much attention and care. In settling on the miniature goldendoodle as the breed for Sandy Ridge, we put much consideration into the qualities we were looking for in our puppies. Below are outlined some of the leading criteria required in our search for the perfect breed — miniature goldendoodle. Our priorities for our mini goldendoodle puppies include: health, temperament, coat quality, size, and appearance. Health Our mini goldendoodle puppies are raised from our experience with genetics involved to be the healthiest we can possibly produce. Through our testing and experience, we do everything we feel possible to eliminate health problems for our mini goldendoodle puppies. Our utmost desire is to produce healthy mini goldendoodle puppies that are able to live long and happy lives. In the unfortunate situation a health problem does arise, we offer a two year genetic guarantee against debilitating genetic defects in our miniature goldendoodles. Temperament In our search for the perfect breed, a mild yet playful disposition was our goal. We could not be happier with the success in the miniature goldendoodle temperament. Playfulness and interaction is the motivation for the activity of a mini goldendoodle. While playful in action, a mini goldendoodle is as equally interactive in the mild manner of quiet and caressing attention. Showing the temperament of contentment, a miniature goldendoodle will often be found lounging by their human friends or patiently waiting for attention. Children typically find an inseparable friend and adults find companionship in a miniature goldendoodle. Coat Quality The quest for the perfect breed cannot be completed without the characteristics of a low shedding coat. Miniature goldendoodles gather the quality well known from the poodle breed of hair instead of fur. While we cannot guarantee a mini goldendoodle will not shed, our mini goldendoodle puppies show low to non-shedding characteristics. We have experience raising miniature and standard labradoodles, but never found the consistency evident in the mini goldendoodle coat. Due to this experience, we no longer raise labradoodles and recommend interested families to consider our experience in your decision. Size Sandy Ridge also has experience raising standard size goldendoodles, but we were looking for a size of goldendoodle that fits into the family setting. A mini goldendoodle is well adapted to any size of living space, whether an intercity apartment, suburban home, or sprawling farm. Our first generation mini goldendoodles F1 miniature goldendoodles are typically lbs as adults, which is a mid size dog. Our first generation backcross mini goldendoodles F1b miniature goldendoodles are typically lbs as adults, which is a smaller medium breed dog. Our multigen miniature goldendoodles are our smallest size that are typically lbs as adults. Appearance Our experience with genetics of miniature poodles and golden retrievers has shown a vast difference in the appearance of dogs from both breeds and the mini goldendoodle result. We do not prefer a miniature goldendoodle that favors the look of the tradition poodle and most goldendoodles long nose, long legs, and slender bodies. While not easy, we have selected adults for our breeding that give us mini goldendoodles with solid bodies, shorter noses, and teddy bear faces. Many families have come to appreciate our teddy bear miniature goldendoodles that are unique to Sandy Ridge. Purchasing Please email for current pricing of our miniature goldendoodles. All puppies picked up will be charged Iowa sales tax. Contact Us Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Email as a first contact is typically the best contact sandyridge gmail. Thanks, and enjoy your experience with Sandy Ridge Miniature Goldendoodle. We specialize in breeding Mini Goldendoodles as well as a few other breeds. We also have partnered up with several other high quality breeders that raise mini goldendoodle pups that meet our strict genetic criteria and testing. So we usually have a good selection of very high quality puppies. View Our Available Puppies! Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments.
