As one of the most energetic breeds, your Silver Lab puppy will always be down for exercise, play, swimming or any other outdoor activity. Playful and excitable, be prepared to remove any knick-knacks from coffee tables or end tables — this breed is notorious for knocking these over with an almost constantly wagging tail! Widely considered the sweetest tempered dog breed, your Silver Lab puppy will light up every time you walk in the room — greeting you with kisses and affection when you come home after a long day at work. Highly intelligent, these dogs can easily be trained to respond to a variety of commands — and their alert nature makes them natural guard dogs. As one of the most lovable dog breeds, your Silver Lab puppy is sure to get along with everyone — from other dogs to small children and the elderly — making the breed a perfect fit for almost anyone who has the stamina to keep up with it! Many of these conditions affect dogs in later life, though some can occur during adolescents and early adulthood. To learn more about our commitment to ethical breeding practices , read about the Keystone Puppies Health Guarantee! This hunting breed has a water-resistant or water-repellent coat that is slightly dry and oily. Unlike many short-haired breeds, Labs are outdoor dogs. They are usually able to keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Silver Labrador Retrievers have short, straight coats that shed seasonally. They have a double coat — with thick, dense hair — which helps keep them warm during winter months. Their heavy coats also offer additional insulation when swimming — a favorite pastime of Labradors, Silver Labs included. With a low-maintenance coat, the Silver Labrador Retriever only needs brushed once or twice a week. Meet Silver Lab Puppies for Sale. Life Span Did You Know? One of the facts about Labrador Retrievers is that they come in many colors. Silver Labrador Retrievers, or Silver Labs, are relatively new compared to the other Lab coat colors. Contrary to their Yellow, Chocolate, and Black Lab cousins, which have recorded sightings from and before, Silver Labs have only cropped up since .There was some heated debate over their authenticity, as many breeders believed the silver tint appeared from outside the breed. A diluting factor in coat color dominance traits is responsible for the silver hue — something that is also present in Charcoal and Champagne Labs as well. At any rate, Silver Labrador Retrievers are regal, loyal, and friendly Labradors that have a lot of energy and a lot of love to give! Silver Labs are curious and playful dogs. Their curiosity will often get the better of them and they may wander off in search of adventure if they are off-leash. Labrador Retrievers are known for their gentle, friendly dispositions and good natures. Well-socialized Labs tend to get along with children, other dogs, and even other pets and strangers. Because of this they make the ideal family dog and are one of the kid-friendly dog breeds. Despite being one of the most active dog breeds , Silver Labrador Retrievers are highly adaptable. They prefer bigger spaces to stretch their legs and explore. As one of the sturdy dog breeds for outdoor adventures , they will often take an outside adventure over an inside one any day. But, they will also just be happy to be spending time with you. They do well in most climates, but are sensitive to heat and extreme cold. Silver Labs are one of the most affectionate dog breeds. They are happiest when they are spending time with their favorite humans, so they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a Silver Labrador Retriever can include elbow dysplasia , hip dysplasia, hereditary myopathy, heart disease, cataracts, and progressive retinal atrophy. A condition called exercise-induced collapse EIC has a genetic link and can occur in young adult Labradors. Good breeding practices and the health of the parents make a big difference in the health of Silver Lab puppies. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. As a large, deep-chested dog breed, the Silver Labrador Retriever is at a higher risk for bloat. Silver Labs are one of the smartest dog breeds. They pick up on things quickly and are eager to please. Despite their energy and getting bored easily, they are still a great fit for dog owners of any experience level. Labrador Retrievers are considered one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners. Silver Labrador Retrievers have short, water-resistant fur in two layers. Because of this dense double coat that protects them from the cold, and being one of the dog breeds that tend to love water , they may try to go for a swim regardless of the season. They shed year-round and more heavily twice a year when seasons change. Plus, your Lab will love spending the time with you. Trimming their nails once or twice monthly keeps them from growing too long. Regularly checking ears and cleaning them as needed can help prevent ear infections. Proper dental care for dogs , like daily brushing and cleanings at the vet when needed, is important to prevent the tartar buildup that causes painful dental diseases later in life. Silver Labrador Retrievers need a lot of daily activity to be happy and healthy. Daily walks plus playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough for this dog. Although they are high-energy dogs, Silver Labs will tend to mellow out a little bit as they get older. Labrador Retrievers tend to have an extended puppyhood and maintain that puppy-like energy until they are around years old. Swimming is a great low-impact activity. Once your Lab puppy is cleared for more intense activity, you can try a lot of different activities with them. In addition to being one of the dog breeds that make the best service dogs , Labs are also athletic and versatile dogs that tend to be a good fit for a wide range of activities. Fully-grown Silver Labrador Retrievers usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Silver Labs generally live for years on average. Labrador Retrievers are one of the most popular dog breeds used as guide dogs, therapy dogs, and search and rescue dogs. They are also commonly found working as police or military dogs. They are even one of the best dog breeds for farms! Featured Silver Labrador Retriever Article.

The German Shepherd is one of the most versatile, well-recognized, and popular dog breeds in the world. The modern German Shepherd is descended from a family of various German herding dogs. Breed standards were not developed until the late 19th century when Captain Max von Stephanitz, a German cavalry officer, worked with Arthur Meyer and other breeders to develop the ideal German herding dog. Stephanitz and Meyer wrote the breed standard in and the American Kennel Club recognized the German Shepherd as a member of the Herding Group in .Although they were originally bred as herding dogs, they were also bred for versatility, which made the German Shepherd an all-around working dog that could excel in a variety of applications. German Shepherds are one of the common dog breeds employed in K-9 units in both police and military applications. They also make great service dogs and, of course, are still awesome herding dogs and farm dogs! The German Shepherd is a strong-willed and highly intelligent dog. They have a playful, energetic spirit and tend to get along with children, other dogs, and other pets, which makes them a great family companion. A born protector, the German Shepherd will provide a great sense of security for their family while their loving and lively personality will make them fit right in as a companion. German Shepherds are naturally protective and can be wary of strangers at first. A well-socialized German Shepherd will bark to alert you and tends to warm up to strangers once introduced. German Shepherds are dogs that were bred to herd and work. This, plus their high energy, makes them a better fit for homes with fenced yards where they can run. They can adapt well to larger apartments as long as plenty of time is dedicated to ensuring they get enough exercise, mental stimulation, and attention every day. A bored, ignored, or under-exercised German Shepherd can often become a destructive one. They also can be sensitive to their surroundings and large gatherings can be off-putting. With a longer coat, they tend to prefer cooler climates and are sensitive to heat. The German Shepherd is a generally healthy breed, but there are some potential health concerns and good breeding practices make a big difference. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a German Shepherd include hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia , and degenerative myelopathy. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. So, make sure you are asking about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. As a barrel-chested breed, the German Shepherd is also at risk for bloat. While the German Shepherd is highly intelligent and highly trainable, they are generally not recommended for novice owners. If you are a novice dog owner, enroll in puppy training classes or enlist the help of a professional dog trainer; not just for your dog, but for yourself as well. Training assistance will help you grow in experience and build a strong bond between you and your German Shepherd puppy, which is essential. Also, the GSD has a thirst for training and fulfillment. They get bored easily and especially with repetition, so continued training with your German Shepherd throughout their life will be necessary. German Shepherds have a medium-to-long double coat. They will shed year-round and heavier as seasons change. Brushing a few times a week is usually sufficient; brushing daily is even better and your GSD will likely love you for it. Bathing is occasional on an as-needed basis. Ear checks weekly with careful cleanings as needed can help prevent ear infections. German Shepherds are high-energy working dogs. Not only do they require a lot of daily activity, but they also are a herding breed that was made to run, guard, and observe, so they need a job to do to be happy and healthy. Daily walks plus playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough for a GSD, but they will likely be up for more activity if you are. With their versatility and athleticism, you can try a lot of different activities when puppies finish growing and they are cleared for higher-impact things. A fully-grown German Shepherd usually stands inches tall and weighs pounds. German Shepherds generally live for years on average. Corporal Duncan brought him back to the United States and Rin-Tin-Tin became one of the most famous dog actors in history. Featured German Shepherd Article.

How do you breed for a healthier English Bulldog? Like all things in life, breeding for health is simply a matter of priority. We are blind to many of the breed priorities that distract other breeders from improving the health of the English Bulldog. We focus on health and personality and very little else. We are not interested in winning a blue ribbon in the show ring. Rather, we test for things like elongated soft palates, narrow tracheas, stenotic nares, luxation in the patellar tendons, heart defects, cherry eye, optic cilia, entropion, ect. We focus and prioritize creating healthy bloodlines, therefore our bulldogs are typically much healthier than the breed as a whole. After breeding for health, what other priorities are you focused on? Our true desire is to create the perfect family bulldog. We also believe a bulldog bred for the correct personality is essential to the family unit as well. A Bruiser Bulldog is bred for intelligence and playfulness. We want our bulldogs to be full of personality and some quirk. We believe a full personality along with a little stubbornness is the true North star of the bulldog breed and is what makes the unique among other breeds. We look for these personality traits in our adult bulldogs and continue to create bloodlines that reflect these qualities. What are the steps of your adoption process if I am located in Pennsylvania? Erica and Mitch of Bruiser Bulldogs are just that. They are experienced, ethical and quality breeders. I was referred to them by my friend that I trust after I saw their gorgeous healthy puppy. Our Puppy Primrose is the light of our lives! Bruisers was there to assist us every step of the way. We would highly recommend Bruisers Bulldogs to anyone looking for their own happy, healthy pup! Leah H. We were lucky to have come across Bruiser Bulldogs and even more so the fact that they were near our family and hometown made it even better. We have had Clementine Callie for four months now, and she is a wonderful dog. Her personality is amazing, and I think part of it is breeding and the other part is Erika and her family lovingly raising the puppies in their home with plenty of attention and snuggles. I also was impressed that, rather than send the puppies out right at 8 weeks, Erika kept ours for a few extra weeks because she was tiny and not read to leave her mom yet. It's that care that differentiates Bruisers from other breeders. Emily R. Erica was easy to work with thru the entire process from application to adopting and now beyond as we host our new family member, Chief. Her on-call support and willingness to provide open, honest advice to all of our questions and concerns continues to be appreciated. We would highly recommend Bruiser Bulldogs to anyone looking for an English Bulldog to join their family. Elizabeth W. Lady L. They are experienced, responsive and knowledgeable about all things bulldog related. They went above and beyond for us and are truly dedicated to all of their pups! We love our little girl so much and would recommend Bruiser to anyone looking for a healthy beautiful bully. Jonathan E. Erica and Mitch are trustworthy, excellent communicators, fair, passionate, and produce the best bulldogs. We were at the top of the waiting list for months and Erica reached out every litter to see if we were finally ready for a bulldog. When we were, she was very easy to work with. Her knowledge on bulldogs is outstanding. We had many questions on the process and she always knew what was best for the puppy. We've had Penny formerly Blair for two months and she is very healthy, energetic, playful, and sweet. She is great with other people and dogs. We are so happy with our pup. When we are ready for bulldog 2, we will only consider Bruiser Bulldogs. Mitch C. Bowser was born April and is an integral part of our family. When we were first exploring English Bulldog breeders our biggest concern was the overall health of the dogs. We decided to work with Erica at Bruiser Bulldogs because we liked their focus on improving the breeds breathing abilities and the fact that the puppies are raised within her family environment before coming home with their new owners. Bowser also breaths clearly and our vet was impressed with his overall health from the moment we brought him home. All that said we know English Bulldogs have a predisposition to many health issues and that his current health can not predict the future. With that In mind its important to start with a breeder that open to answer any of your questions as Erica has ours, and that strongly believes in improving the breeds overall health profile. Adam B. My sister ended up finding Bruiser Bulldogs and we knew right away that they were the breeder for us. In September we ended up driving 9 hours to pick up two Bruiser bulldog puppies- one for my husband and I and one for my mom. Jackson and Penelope have been nothing but a joy. They are both very athletic and healthy. They are also HUGE snugglers and always want to be with you. It is an absolute pleasure having these two bullies in our lives! Erica is very knowledgeable about the breed. She is very hands on throughout the process and is just overall a kind and honest person to work with. With all that being said I cannot recommend Bruiser Bulldogs enough! Collyn C. One of the reasons we chose Bruiser Bulldogs was due to the claims about breeding for health. During our first visit at our vet's office, he told us that our pup was one of the healthiest English bulldogs he had ever seen. He is healthy, happy and social. Would recommend to anyone. Christina S. We seen our dog on their website and sent them an Email. Mitch called us and personally walked us through the process and made sure we had the right dog for our family. We couldn't be happier when we picked up our dog Ramsey, Erica made sure we had everything we needed and then some. They are truly amazing people who breed truly amazing dogs! Jim T. Urgent Dogs Storm - Northumberland This beautiful boy is Storm he's very nervous and quite highly strung. He lives with cats and children. He has been working with a behaviourist since he was 6 months old to improve his social skills and confidence. He also attends a doggy day-care couple of time a week. At first, he was very nervous with the other dogs and would bark and shriek with his hackles upend bared teeth, he has never bitten or snapped at the dogs, just all noise. However his current family recently adopted a rescue dog who didn't get on with Storm and attacked him several times, he has never retaliated. Although the rescue dog has now been re-homed this has knocked Storms already fragile confidence and he has reverted back to his noisy anxious ways. He walks well in a head collar and is good off the lead, he loves toys and will do anything for a ball. He is quick to learn and enjoys his training sessions. Storm isn't good with new people or visitors but once he has met them then he settles very quickly. He ideally needs a home with no other dogs so he can have time to relax and regain his confidence. More information. Due to so many dogs and puppies being purchased during lockdown without proper consideration about the long term welfare of these dogs, rescues are now being inundated with unwanted dogs that have missed out on proper socialisation and training in the early months of their lives. The result is that the dogs coming in to rescue require much more time to rehabilitate which means the dogs coming in are staying with us longer than normal and our kennels are full to bursting. If you looking to rehome your dog, we will endeavour to assess your dog as soon as possible and put on our website, HOWEVER, we cannot take any more dogs into our care at present unless there are exceptional circumstances. If you are looking to adopt, we will endeavour to carry out your home check as soon as possible, HOWEVER, we are having to be extremely strict on our criteria at present due to the type of dogs currently in our care. Many of these dogs are not good with other dogs due to lack of socialisation and whilst we can work with them with other large dogs, we do not have the facilities to be able to test them with small dogs. The same applies to cats and young children. Just because your cat or your child is used to large dogs, we will not put any animal or child at risk unnecessarily. We will also not consider any applicant without large dog experience as currently we need homes with experience of handling a large breed dog who may potentially have some issues to still work out. Thank you for your understanding at this difficult time. GSRE is backed up by a team of unpaid volunteers who strive to aid and promote responsible ownership of the breed. We not only look to re-home dogs but keep them in their original homes by offering training and behaviour advice. Through our volunteers and website we want to inform people on all aspects of dog ownership before you decide to take the plunge especially as German Shepherd Dogs are a large working breed and are not suitable for everyone. GSRE is a registered charity that works alongside many other reputable rescues which means that through team work and pulling together we can help even more dogs in need. We are a proactive charity with a common goal; the welfare of animals.

Labradoodles are smart, loving, child-friendly dogs. They have light to non-shedding, allergy-friendly coats, and they do not have the dog smell associated with other breeds. They are highly trainable, fun loving, family companions. Labradoodles also come in miniature, medium, and standard sizes. We breed all sizes of labradoodles, but concentrate mostly on mini labradoodles and medium labradoodles with an ocassional litter of large standard size labradoodles. We have found the miniature and medium sized labradoodles to be the perfect size for families on the go. They are wonderful companions and are just the right size for a snuggle on the couch, sleeping at the foot of the bed, or riding in the car running errands. On a personal note, our family fell in love with labradoodles when we saw what a patient, loyal companion a labradoodle was for our 6 year old son with autism. By breeding labradoodles, it is my hope to provide this type of loving companion for other families. Why choose Pacific Rim Labradoodles? Located in Southern Oregon, Pacific Rim Labradoodles takes pride in being a very reputable and ethical breeder of Australian and American multigeneration labradoodles. The natural process of acquiring permanent teeth can go quite smoothly if you know what to expect when to expect it, and how to properly deal with all of that chewing. Be patient with your Labradoodle puppy, because before you know it, he will be all grown up. Related Posts:. Losing their original coat Losing their puppy teeth. Why not take a look. When do Labradoodles become Adults? Labradoodles become adults at around eighteen months of age. The first year and a half accounts for the twelve distinct phases of growth and development. However, just as a Labradoodle puppy undergoes many physical changes, an adult too would have noteworthy transformations. There may not be too many physical changes after your dog is two years old, other than gaining and losing weight, but temperamental transformations are quite common. These also depend largely on the kind of training you provide, how you treat and care for your dog, its own cognitive development and the interactions with the immediate environment. Labradoodles are usually at their prime at around two years, which is also when they may start to mate. An adult Labradoodle can retain its prime for several years, almost a decade if it is properly cared for, provided sufficient nutrition and exercised daily. Many mixed breed dogs have an average life expectancy greater than that of both parent breeds. A Labradoodle has the same typical life expectancy of the Poodle but longer than the Labrador. A Labradoodle can comfortably live for around fourteen years, and in many cases slightly longer. They need their mother immediately after birth, both for warmth and nursing. A newborn pup should not be separated from their mother. Even if it is tempting to pick up a pup for a gentle cuddle, it should be put off for at least four to six hours, preferably for a day or longer. A Labradoodle pup opens its eyes at around ten days. Some pups can take longer, about a fortnight from birth. While a puppy may open their eyes within the first fortnight, they do not have clear vision and most pups will take a few more days before they can actually see the world around them. During these initial days, the eyes of a pup may have a bluish gray haze. This is not unnatural and there is nothing to worry about. Labradoodle pups usually develop clear eyesight in eight weeks. As is the case with vision, the auditory senses are also nonfunctional at birth. Labradoodle pups are effectively deaf as newborns. The ear canals open up after the eyes. Pups develop their sense of hearing gradually and it tends to improve with each passing day. Pups can hear properly in around eight weeks. To sum up these initial phases, a Labradoodle pup can see and hear, respond to movements around it and to auditory stimulus in eight weeks. Labradoodle pups develop their first teeth in around a fortnight. There can be delays but almost all pups begin to develop their baby teeth within the first four weeks. They should have all twenty-eight milk teeth by the time they are six weeks old. This leads to the weaning phase. You may introduce solid food for a puppy after all the baby teeth have cut through. The weaning phase ends at around eight weeks, which is also when the pup develops its eyesight and hearing. Most people get their Labradoodle pups after this weaning phase. Many breeders have a policy of not selling pups until the weaning period is complete. A veterinarian must be consulted before the weaning phase ends. This is for the first checkup and immunizations. Adult Labradoodles need an annual visit to a vet. This is for a thorough checkup. The immunizations for Labradoodle pups are for distemper, measles, para-influenza, hepatitis, parvovirus, and rabies. The early shots are administered between six and eight weeks. Subsequent shots are administered between ten and twelve weeks, twelve and twenty-four weeks, fourteen and sixteen weeks, twelve and sixteen months, one to two years, and one to three years. In addition to vaccination, Labradoodle pups should be dewormed and administered preventive medication against heartworm. The puppies should be specifically protected against roundworm, tapeworm, hookworm, whipworm, ringworm, and heartworm. These deworming routines should be spread across every fortnight, starting with the second week after birth. Deworming is necessary almost throughout the lifespan of Labradoodles. The frequency may be four times a year. Labradoodle pups would start biting as they develop the first set of teeth. Housebreaking a pup during this biting phase may seem to be a challenge, but it can be easily managed if you arrange for some harmless things for the puppy to chew on. You should factor in the size of the bladder of a Labradoodle pup during housebreaking. It has a small urinary bladder, which is also not fully developed, so do not expect your pup to hold it long. Socialization usually precedes housebreaking for Labradoodle pups. They are a highly sociable breed, so this is not a major challenge. The first few weeks are tricky as the newborn cannot see or hear much. Socialization becomes easy in around six weeks. It is a cakewalk after eight weeks; that is if you manage the teething issue. Socialization, housebreaking and training can happen simultaneously. Many people include basic training within the ambit of housebreaking. Advanced training should be deferred till your pup is grown up. Labradoodle pups typically begin to lose their coat sometime around four to six months although this can vary greatly. Some dogs may begin this process as young as twelve weeks old yet some may be closer to a year. They will shed their entire baby coat. This is the most striking transformation that happens in these pups. It is quite possible for the pup to develop a new coat that does not resemble what it sported as a newborn. Take a look at our discovery into how the color of their coat can differ from puppy to adulthood in our complete guide of do Labradoodle puppies change color. It is this initial loss of puppy coat that begins its transformation that shall stay well into its adulthood and old age. Labradoodle pups can have hair, wool or fleece coat, depending on which genes are dominant from its parents, and sometimes even grandparents. The new coat usually develops over several weeks. Labradoodle pups start to lose their milk teeth anywhere between ten and fourteen weeks from birth. The process of the permanent teeth taking their place may last for up to thirty weeks. Labradoodles usually have a complete set of forty-two adult teeth before they are eight months old. How much does a Labradoodle Weigh at Different Ages? A newborn Labradoodle usually weighs around 10oz. By two months, they weigh around 7lbs, around 20lbs in four months, 30lbs in six months and 35lbs in eight months. In a year, your growing pup would be around 40lbs. A young adult Labradoodle weighs around 45lbs. A fully grown adult, at around a year and a half or two years of age, will weigh between 50lbs and 65lbs. Related Questions What age do Labradoodles Live to? We have touched upon this within our article but to reiterate, the average live expectancy of a Labradoodle is between 12 and 15 years. This is the same as the Poodle but a little more than the Labrador which lives on average between 10 and 14 years. What Health Problems do Labradoodles Have? Hybrid Vigor should go some way into reducing the issues that both the Poodle and the Labrador Retriever are prone to. Ensuring that you find a reputable breeder is also imperative to protecting the future heath of your puppy as their parents should be screened. Teething What is Teething? Dogs go through developmental stages, like humans, as they grow. When they're young, a large part of their life is devoted to exploring and learning how to interact with their surroundings. Just like babies, they do this by teething. Or, in other words, by putting everything in their mouth. During this time, they learn and develop habits that are most likely going to stay with your puppy for life. Chewing an object gives the puppy lots of information - what it tastes like, what happens when they interact with it etc. If you encourage this behaviour, they will learn that it's okay to be rough with this particular item. Your puppy will remember to prefer that texture. In this period, they are continuously learning and developing. Therefore, when you see your puppy chewing something you don't want them to bite, it's important to take action immediately. Popular ways of deterring a puppy is using an anti-chew spray, or offering a more appealing alternative e. First weeks During the first few weeks of a puppy's life, they are completely dependent on their mum. Having no teeth makes feeding easier. Four weeks old Towards the beginning of their fourth week, milk teeth are budding. The puppies also begin to nip at their mum's teats. Usually, the first teeth to erupt are the canines from 3 weeks, followed by the incisors. Molars are permanent from their eruption and appear when your dog is five to seven months. In our house, the normal puppy kibble is Doodle Puppy, with warm water added to create a porridge consistency. There are initially 28 baby or 'milk' teeth coming in during this transition from nursing to soft food. They continue nursing. By this point, the budding teeth can hurt mum as they're sharp. Unsurprisingly, she becomes reluctant to nurse. Biting mum's teats and then being scolded for it is the earliest lesson of biting inhibition. It's important for puppies to learn so they know the same rules apply to mouthing human hands in the future. The first vet check is at four weeks old. The puppy receives the Parvo and Kennel Cough vaccines. The vet will also check the initial jaw alignment and teeth. However, minor abnormalities might not be visible yet. The vet will vaccinate and look for 28 baby teeth 12 incisors, four canines, 12 premolars. At eight weeks, you can adopt a puppy! The transition to dry food is complete, and they no longer need water mixed in. They spend less time with mum, learning further biting inhibition from their litter siblings instead. If your puppy arrives home at this age, they usually have 14 teeth in the upper jaw and 14 in the lower. We advise purchasing a teething kit as your puppy will be transitioning into adult teeth imminently. After 12 weeks of age, you can start training as they are fully vaccinated. We begin with clicker training and cues such as 'leave-it.
multi generational goldendoodle puppies - If you click and purchase, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. You need to be aware of all kinds of things to ensure you end up with a happy, healthy puppy. Filling you in on these things is the fundamental purpose of this article, where we discuss crucial criteria for judging quality breeders of Goldendoodle puppies in Minnesota and recommend some of the best ones. Choosing a Responsible Goldendoodle Breeder Choosing to adopt a Goldendoodle puppy is one of the easiest decisions in the world. Once you are sure that you are ready for all the commitments a dog entails, a Doodle really is the obvious choice. These gorgeous pups have been carefully bred to combine all the very best of other dogs in one super family-friendly package… just as long as you find the right breeder. This is where things get complicated. The price of designer Doodles attracts all sorts trying to make some easy money by deceiving potential buyers. This type of scam is sadly all too common. See Also: Click the image Puppy mills are another potential problem in the world of dog breeding. These are kennels where profit is king above all else. The puppies and their parents are poorly cared for and raised in inhumane conditions. The best way to avoid a puppy mill is to ask to see where the dogs are being kept — either in person or via video chat. Then you can gauge the conditions for yourself. Other breeders may do their best by the dogs but may not know all that much about guaranteeing the best health of the puppies they produce. The output could be Goldies who are sick or that have inherited genetic issues from their parents, which may not be apparent until they are older. A few ways to ensure a high-quality breeding facility is to: Check Certification While a breeding license is not necessary for those with fewer than ten dogs, other types of certification can help you judge the quality of the facility you are dealing with. Just always make sure to double-check that they actually are. Never just take them at their word. Make sure you always ask for evidence of these. A reputable facility will be used to providing this information and will not hesitate to do so upon request. Specific details on what to look for with Goldendoodles can be found here. Look For a Health Guarantee Facilities that are really secure in their breeding standards will be happy to provide new owners with a health guarantee. This basically shows that the puppy is in the best possible health as far as can be determined by the relevant vet checks and tests. The length of such guarantees can extend for 48 hours — just long enough for you to have your vet give the pup a good looking over — to up to two years. This allows the owners to rule out any genetic disorders that may only develop as the puppy matures. Seek Recommendations from A Trusted Source A preferred method of selecting a good breeder among dog owners is to seek recommendations from those in the know. That especially applies to dogs from shelters and rescue centers that might have already had a bad start in life. Tells You Any Health Problems A reputable breeder or seller will be open and honest about the health of the dog. If there are any health issues that you need to be aware of, they will tell you. Asks More Questions Than You The breeder should be keen to reassure themselves that the puppy is going to a knowledgeable home and to owners that understand how to care for a dog properly. Requires Expectations On Both Sides Before agreeing to sell you a puppy, the breeder should be keen to establish what both parties expect from each other. For example, a deposit may be required from you to secure a puppy. Small breeders who only produce one or two litters of puppies every year generally do so for the love of the breed rather than to make vast profits. Sends Puppies Properly Most reputable breeders insist that you collect the puppy from them in person. However, that might not be possible, depending on where you live, Covid restrictions, etc. In those circumstances, the breeder often offers to ship the puppy to you. When I was looking around for a puppy, I noticed that many so-called professional breeders offered multiple breeds for sale. In some cases, the breeder uses a Poodle stud dog to cover several different breeds of mother dogs. That breeder specializes in three specific small breeds, is fully licensed, and is definitely not a puppy farm! Shows Breeding Experience The best breeders are well-established with plenty of experience in producing high-quality, well-bred puppies. Puppy-proofing Puppies are notorious for getting into everything! That can mean destruction for your home and potential danger for your puppy. So, take time to puppy-proof your home by placing anything tempting out of reach of your fluffy bundle of mischief. When I bought my first puppy home many years ago, the garden immediately became his go-to place. That was great, as it meant my pup could run around and burn off his excess energy, as well as experience all kinds of sights and sounds. The doorbell rang, and I answered to find my neighbor standing on the doorstep, clutching my puppy! The little guy had escaped through the hole and wandered off down the road. Luckily, my neighbor spotted him and scooped him up before any harm was done. So, always remember to check and re-check your fences before you let your new furbaby out to play! Introducing The Potty Place Potty training your Goldendoodle puppy is something that many owners dread. Most pups get to regard their crate as a cozy den that they can retreat to when they want to sleep or chill out. Take time to train your puppy to use his crate, and never use the crate as a punishment. Scheduling Dogs are creatures of habit and they thrive on a schedule. Patience Puppies are like small children. They will soak up new experiences and lessons like sponges and are typically very quick learners. However, you must be patient when training your furry friend. Never get angry and punish your pet for getting something wrong. Simply be consistent and sympathetic in your training, using praise, treats, and positive reinforcement to get the job done. In Conclusion I hope you enjoyed our list of 7 of the best Goldendoodle breeders in Minnesota. If you found the guide helpful, please share! Spike and Tyke's characters, provide a model of father and son behavior, with Spike spending much of his free time taking Tyke on father-son outings, teaching him the facts of life for dogs and guarding him diligently when they are sleeping. In Tom and Jerry Kids , Tyke has a speaking role for the first time, aside from traditional dog noises he expressed in the prior films. Spike's relationships with Tom and Jerry have varied from time to time, but essentially Spike has little affection for Tom Cat, who seems always to be disrupting his life, causing trouble, antagonizing Tyke or all of the above. The Truce Hurts , Pet Peeve and Hic-Cup Pup are so far the only cartoons where Spike actually cares about and shows affection for Tom; these relationships often dissolve and usually end with them fighting. Tom does not usually antagonize Spike intentionally, but Spike often ends up in the middle of a Tom and Jerry chase, as they are all seemingly living together which ends up waking Spike up, ruining his new dog house, wrecking his and Tyke's picnic, and so on. Spike has a few weaknesses that Tom tries to capitalize upon: his possessiveness about his bone and his ticklishness. Several stories also have Jerry taking advantage of Spike and Tyke's size and proximity, as he often tries to hide or sleep with or near Spike and Tyke for protection. Early appearances[ edit ] In his early appearance, Dog Trouble , Spike as an unnamed Bulldog is the main antagonist, chasing and attacking both Tom and Jerry on sight, even trying to eat Jerry, which forced the two to work together to defeat him. However, in his first appearance The Bodyguard , after Jerry willingly saved him from being poached, he became Jerry's protector whenever needed. In all subsequent shorts, Spike becomes typecast as the stereotypical dumb brute who is always duped into becoming a shield for Jerry from Tom. It is only in two episodes where Jerry gets Spike out of a jam and the dog willingly protects him from Tom in well-earned gratitude The Bodyguard and Fit to Be Tied. On most occasions, Jerry causes trouble for Tom by luring him near Spike and harming him to get him angry, and in some cartoons when it's perfectly obvious that Tom is not responsible, as seen in The Invisible Mouse , Spike still blames Tom and hurts him instead of Jerry. Spike, however, is not without a softer and sympathetic side: in the episode Pet Peeve , after believing that Tom is willing to leave the house in Spike's favour, Spike feels sorry for him to the point that he offers to leave instead, which Spike does until he realises that Tom is only using reverse psychology to trick him into leaving. In The Truce Hurts , Spike is portrayed as a very intelligent and equilibrated character when he convinces Tom and Jerry to stop the fighting among the three of them and sign a Peace Treaty, but their newfound friendship comes to an end when they argue over how to share a big steak, symbolised when Spike tears the truce contract to shreds and they go back to fighting again after Tom accidentally threw the steak into the sewer drain. He is also a Devil Dog in Heavenly Puss. Spike's later years and Tyke's debut[ edit ] In Tom's later attempts to catch Jerry, he has to deal with Spike for bothering his son. In 's Love That Pup , Spike was given a puppy son, Tyke, who became another popular supporting character in the Tom and Jerry cartoons. His voice was taken over by Daws Butler , who styled Spike's voice after Jimmy Durante taking after his s radio series with Garry Moore. He is named Spike from then on and is not changed again. When Tyke is introduced, Spike is given a softer approach mainly towards his son and is kinder and less aggressive, but is still portrayed as a dumb animal on more than one occasion. Spike's love and affection towards Tyke becomes Jerry's newest weapon against Tom, as his strategy goes from luring Tom towards Spike to inflicting harm on Tyke, and even when it is perfectly obvious that Jerry is responsible and not Tom, as seen in Love That Pup. Spike fails to notice this and still blames Tom although this can be partially due to Spike's dislike of Tom. A short-lived Spike and Tyke cartoon series was produced by MGM in ; only two entries were completed. Spike would continue to appear in Tom and Jerry full-length features released in the early s and finally, Tom and Jerry Tales. Spike and his son Tyke also appear as regulars in the recent reboot series. He was voiced by Bobby Cannavale. Comics appearances[ edit ] Spike and Tyke made frequent appearances in the second Tom and Jerry daily newspaper strip, which was distributed by Editors Press Service from about until .The strip was produced in the US, but only appeared in foreign newspapers. They also appeared in three issues of Dell's Four Color series between and .Unlike their portrayal in the cartoons, both characters spoke in the comic book stories.
