Breeders VS. The sad truth is that many pet store purchased pups actually come from puppy mills. Basically, there is zero authenticity with pet stores. When it comes to adopting any animal from a pet store, there is an increased risk of unforeseen health or genetic problems. You also cultivate a life-long relationship with the breeder, meaning support is available to you anytime you may need it. With My Golden Retriever Puppies , you have the option to come and visit both the puppy and the breeder in person! Golden Retrievers are an adaptable breed, meaning they are better at adapting to seasonal changes and various types of climate than certain other breeds. Goldens sport a double-coat, which ensures that these sweet pups are able to tolerate slightly colder temperatures than their friends from other breeds. Your pup deserves better than that, which is why here at My Golden Retriever Puppies , we ensure high-quality care is taken of your pet at all times. We even have all types of golden retrievers for sale! At My Golden Retriever Puppies, we pride ourselves on our golden retriever price being fair and affordable for high quality puppies. Location Information for Chicago Customers Our home office is located in Ohio, but we understand that long-distance travel can be inconvenient. If you prefer to meet a breeder in person, they may be able to offer private visits at their home. Of course! Here at My Golden Retriever Puppies , we value family and authenticity, which is why we always guarantee our pups through our 2-year genetic health guarantee. Like adopting a Golden Retriever from a pet store, there is an increased risk when adopting a pup from a rescue center or shelter as well. For example, pups purchased through a shelter or rescue center are far less likely to come with the kinds of health guarantees and reassurances that a breeder can provide. What type of Golden Retrievers are sold in Chicago? We have some good news! Ready to make your Golden Retriever dreams come true? Take a look at our convenient list of available puppies. How do I know which breeders to trust in Chicago? Our independent network of trusted breeders have already been pre-screened and verified, so that you can focus on what really matters: choosing your dream puppy. We believe that foundational genetics are created through layer after layer of breeding healthy generations of bulldogs. Over the course of a decade, we have focused on a stringent set of health criteria to gradually improve the health and quality of the dogs we produce. The rare combination of experience, repetition, and ethical awareness of correct breeding practices has set our breeding program at the forefront of responsible breeding practices. The process truly is an adoption that affects the time, focus, and schedules of each household that gets a puppy from us. After a healthy puppy , the single most critical factor for a successful bulldog adoption is adopter support. The English Bulldog is unique breed with a unique set of caretaking criteria. Previous dog ownership, while helpful, is not enough to fully prepare an adopter for English Bulldog ownership. We always say the adoption is just the beginning of our journey. Through blog articles and email prep, we focus on such topics as socialization, crate training, disease prevention, potty training, nutrition, and basic puppy supplies to ensure that each adopter will be fully prepared for their new puppy. As a couple, Trish's love for these breeds rubbed off on Dale, and after struggling with infertility, they decided to take a break and welcome their first boy, Lucky, into their lives. Soon after, they were blessed with a baby girl named Reagan, who can often be seen in pictures with their puppies. After discovering their love for breeding, they established a home kennel and have since become devoted puppy parents. They are located in Central Indiana on a spacious property in Zionsville, where all their dogs are raised and socialized by their large family, which includes five children between the ages of 7 to 25, and a bengal cat named Mama Bell. As passionate breeders, they have expanded their family to include some French bulldogs, including Phoebe, Jasper, and Echo, and a one-year-old Dogue De Bordeaux named Belle. The love affair they have with their dogs has never faded, and they treat them all as part of their family, young and old alike. Dependable and predictable, they make wonderful family pets and are loving to most children. People-oriented as a breed, they actively seek human attention. They develop their own personalities quickly, and will leave you laughing most days of the week. Call Morgan at for specific pup identification if you are leaning towards placing an early deposit. We love the English bulldog temperament, physique and expression, I just personally like it to be about lbs. We find the smaller sizes are more buoyant and playful and, though still very heat sensitive, are better able to cope with life in general. Downsizing an AKC breed takes time. Ronny and Dawn Castillo A Preview Of The Upcoming Litter Of Bulldogs For Sale Our Bulldog Mission Our desire is not only to present and showcase our beautiful bulldog puppies for sale and stud service with you, but we also hope to help educate and inform those considering adopting or purchasing a bulldog. Located in Southern Missouri, about a half hour from the Arkansas border, we live in a log home situated in the middle of 20 secluded, wooded acres. Our journey in bulldogs began back in .Ronny and I were married that year and were very young I was only .I have always been a dog lover but up until that point my experience with dogs had mainly involved toy breeds. Johnny passed away at the age of 11 but long before then I knew we would never be without a bulldog. A few years before Johnny died I began researching the breed more thoroughly and had decided to pursue my passion for breeding and showing. I was hooked! The following year I produced my first litter bred by the champion, Ch. For info or to speak to us directly feel free to call or Email — CST castlewoodbulldogs gmail. This includes health, temperament and conformation. Thus, I set out to find and bring into our program the very best bulldogs from around the world. I attended the Bulldog Nationals and watched with keen interest all of the top bulldogs in the US compete for the Best of Breed title. Shortly thereafter there was a post and discussion in one of the bulldog forums I was a member of regarding a particular European bulldog Ch. Valleybull Silver Sailor at Merriveen. He was one of the most beautiful bulldogs I had ever laid eyes on! So, I started researching and studying the European bloodlines and fell in love with many of their dogs. What I noticed was that while the US bloodlines seem to have better top lines and shorter backs, the European bloodlines tend to have better heads, tails and more bone and substance. By incorporating both the US and European bloodlines into our breeding program, I am aiming to get the best from both worlds. I am very proud of our most recent addition, coming all the way from Spain, Ch. Valley Bulls Burton.

Today, Goldens continue to solidify their place as one of the best family dogs. Golden Retrievers are medium to large canines, often weighing around pounds kg and standing inches cm tall. Despite their size, this breed has a reputation for its own brand of fun docility. Simply put, Goldens are just as lovable as they are big! Much like your favorite potato chip, Goldens come in multiple varieties. Canadian Golden Retrievers tend to be taller than the other two types. Their coats are generally shorter with less fluff, as well. British or English Golden Retrievers are known for their long, wispy cream-colored coats. With a strong chest and large skull, British Goldens are good choices for owners who prefer a dog with a sturdier build. American Golden Retrievers are a bit more slender than their counterparts. Your pup will thank you! According to the guidelines, a Golden Retriever coat has to be a rich gold with various shadings. Their favorite activities are swimming and fetching, which makes them ideal hunting companions. There are three distinct types of Golden Retrievers. Despite having different origins and coloring, there is little difference between the three types. The three types are: American Golden Retriever English or British Golden Retriever Canadian Golden Retriever Although there are slight differences between all three of these breeds, most people unfamiliar with each particular kind would be unable to distinguish the differences. This breed has multiple small differences from other Retrievers. For one, the American Retriever has a smaller size. The body is lankier, with less prominent muscle buildup. They also have a different gait, or way of walking, with free, smooth, and well-coordinated movements. Plus, they have different shaped eyes. American Golden Retrievers have a triangular or slanted eye shape. When it comes to color, American Retrievers generally have darker coat colors. Even the signature light gold shade of Golden Retrievers will be a darker tone. Physical Size For a dog to classify as an American Golden Retriever, they have to meet specific physical requirements. The American Kennel Club has determined these standards. The skull of an American Golden Retriever should be a smooth slope from the tip of the snout to the back of the head. There should not be any bulges, knots, or abnormalities, especially along the forehead. The eyes should not appear sunken into the sockets. An American Golden Retriever should not have barrel-shaped ribs or abnormalities along the topline. The front and back legs should have a slightly muscular build. And the pelvic bone should sit at a degree angle from the horizon. Also referred to as English Cream Golden Retrievers or British Golden Retrievers, there are minimal physical differences between this type of Retriever and an American. English Retrievers have a broader skull, with a chiseled muzzle. The color of an English is usually lighter. Many English Retrievers have a cream coat, which is a very light off-white shade. But even the golden shades will be lighter than the other two Retriever types. The final difference between an English and an American or Canadian Golden Retriever is all in the eyes. British Retrievers have rounder eyes and a darker eye color. There are three noticeable differences that can tell you whether a dog is a Canadian Golden Retriever or an American or English. Canadian Golden Retrievers have fur that is shorter and thinner than the other two types. The coat is also denser, which is useful for the colder winter months. And finally, Canadian Retrievers are taller than their kinfolk. They can grow up to two inches taller. Despite the differences in appearance, all Golden Retrievers have the same loyal and friendly disposition. They are also all matched with their energy levels. Retrievers need 40 to 60 minutes of exercise a day to keep them healthy and from being destructive. But they have the same personality. There is a notable size difference between male and female English Retrievers compared to different genders of the American Golden Retriever. Cream Retrievers are often a bit shorter than their American relatives. Other different physical features include the face, ears, and tail. The eyes of a cream Retriever are usually rounder than American Retrievers and darker shades. The head of an English Retriever is usually broader, with a chiseled, wide, deep muzzle. They have a level back and tail. English Retrievers also usually have a stockier build, with broader heads and longer necks. The first Lord of Tweedmouth, Dudley Marjoribanks, decided he wanted to create a new kind of dog to help retrieve game that fell at long distances from the shooter and to get objects out of the water. This matching resulted in four puppies, which were then bred to other breeds such as the Bloodhound and Irish Setter. Fifty years later, the first breed of Golden Retriever was born. This type of dog loved the water and had a thick water-resistant double coat that made it ideal for cold climates and foul weather. This breed also had a good-natured personality, keen intelligence, and steady obedience. Their high energy levels and Bloodhound ancestry made them perfect as hunting companions. Modern Day Golden Retrievers The first appearance of the Golden Retriever in Britain was at a dog show in , and it became a recognized breed in Britain around .The Retriever appeared in the US by way of Canada around the same time as it became popular in Europe. In the s, President Ford brought the breed into the limelight, and families around the world fell in love with the sweet look of a Golden Retriever. People quickly fell in love with the Golden Retriever and it became the essence of the perfect American family pet. Today, Golden Retrievers are still used as hunting companions. But they are more often found as loyal and friendly family companions. This gentle breed loves to be part of a large pack and is one of the best breeds to have around small children. Golden Retrievers have also become a favorite breed to train as service animals for people with visual or hearing impairments. They are also excellent therapy and emotional support dogs. And due to their size and stamina, Golden Retrievers are also often trained to be search and rescue dogs to assist with water rescues. They can also be used to track missing persons and help with natural disasters or mass casualties. Except for acting as a watchdog, perhaps. Characteristics of a Golden Retriever Golden Retrievers are a medium-sized dog known for being gentle, easy to train, intelligent, and intensely loyal, making this breed highly sought after by families big and small. But they do shed a lot, so if dog hair everywhere bothers you, or you have an allergy to pet dander, you might want to consider another breed besides a Golden Retriever. Their high energy level also makes them excellent partners for long hikes in rural areas. And Retrievers are so friendly and loving that they get along with strangers, the entire family, and even other pets. In Closing There are three types of Golden Retrievers with small differences among them. A person unfamiliar with the breed will not be able to identify the exact bloodline. Three ways that these dogs differ is in size, coat type, and eye shape. The three types of Retrievers are American, English, and Canadian. The colors can vary between cream, light or dark gold, and red. In fact, they have a few different coat colors although not all of them are acceptable in traditional dog shows. Do not fall for these traps. Standard Golden Retriever Colors There are five typical Golden Retriever Colors, although these can be mixed and matched into different combinations. Standard Golden Retrievers Image Credit: lecreusois, Pixabay This is probably the first thing that comes to mind when picturing a Golden Retriever color. Be sure to give them a good proper brushing at least twice a week to keep their golden coats shining their best. Another key to keeping their coats at their peak condition is to ensure that your Golden maintains a healthy diet full of Omega-3s. They fall between the cream Golden Retrievers and the standards on the color spectrum. This is the second variety of Golden Retriever color that is accepted by International Kennel Clubs for show. These are often among the most striking of Goldens with their deep gold coats. One thing to note about their color is that while they do bear a close semblance to the Red Golden Retriever—more on them later—they lack the amber or red hues found on the former. Their golden coat is a pure gold color just deeper than that of the standard variation. Often, the ears will be darker than the rest of the coat, and a good sign of how dark these pups will get as they mature. But there are also some different peculiarities about this color when compared to the rest. Cream Colored Retrievers normally have a thinner coat than their darker-haired relatives. However, they shed just as much. However, these are just shameless marketing tactics. The origin of this breed is believed to come from Ireland where standard Golden Retrievers were crossbred with Irish Setters. This theory does make sense as the dogs are generally leaner and more compact than other Golden Retrievers. They also have less feathering around their legs and tail. However, that may change in the future. Golden Retrievers shed a lot , especially during peak seasons. Your Golden may require two or three brushings a week when they start blowing their coat. And the best way to do this is with a slicker brush. A slicker brush is normally a wide, rectangular brush with firm wire bristles. These are absolutely perfect for grooming Golden Retrievers as the brush is designed to easily pull out tangles without causing any damage to their skin. There are three different types of goldens and whilst they are all the same breed each type has some subtle differences to look out for. There are also three basic colors of golden and whilst the shades may vary, they will all belong to one of these three main golden colors. The Different Types Of Golden Retrievers Whilst you may think that all golden retrievers look very similar, you may be surprised to find out that there are actually three basic types of golden retrievers and these are determined by the country of origin. The three basic types of golden retriever are: English or British golden retriever American golden retriever Canadian golden retriever Though the differences between each of these are minimal, they still exist and we shall take a further look into these types and differences between them below. English Golden Retrievers First up we have the English golden retriever. Originally bred in Scotland, the English golden retriever is the blueprint for all the goldens on our list. This breed made its way across Europe, into Australia, and was even imported into Canada! The differences between the English and American goldens are very slight and unless you know what to look for you may not even notice them. That said there are still a few main physical differences that set these subtypes apart: Coat color — the color of the English golden retriever is much lighter compared to their foreign cousins. Even the light golden color is much brighter in the British retriever. The shape of the skull — The skull should be broader with a well-balanced muzzle. It should appear chiseled and handsome. This difference in the muzzle is most likely a result of the breeding process. Eyes — The British golden retrievers have rounder eyes as well as a darker eye color. This is much more noticeable when compared to the other types on the list. American Golden Retriever Next up, we have the American golden retriever. Delicate and handsome, this family-friendly pooch has quite a few physical aspects that make it stand out from the rest. The American golden retriever has an instantly recognizable triangular or slanted shape to its eyes. The eyes should sit nicely on the head and not be sunken in. Their overall size — the size of the American golden retriever actually comes up more petite than its foreign counterparts. Considered lankier and less muscular these goldens still have big personalities and even bigger hearts. A darker coat color — When compared to the English and Canadian varieties of golden retrievers, the American golden coat has a much darker color. Even when considering the lightest golden shade, these pups tend to come up darker Gait — Perhaps one of the more unusual differences, the American golden retriever has a specific gait or way of walking, which has often been compared to the trot of a horse! Unlike the other types of golden retrievers, this subtype also has a selection of physical requirements that need to be met before it can be officially deemed an American golden retriever. These standards are set by the AKC and come down to the following: Head and skull — The head of the American golden should cascade smoothly from the tip of the nose to the back of the skull. There should be no super prominent features such as the forehead or eyes. Neck — The neck should transition smoothly into the shoulders and should appear strong in character with no obtrusions. Body — A well-balanced body, with no barrel-shaped ribs, is the ideal form for the American golden. Topline — As with the neck, the topline should be smooth and even without any bumps. Forequarters — The forequarters should be muscular but still sit relaxed upon the frame. Hindquarters — The hindquarters on the golden should be the most muscular part, with a pelvic bone that sits at an angle of 30 degrees. Canadian Golden Retriever The origin of the Canadian golden retriever should come as no surprise. Imported from the United Kingdom these dogs were bred in Canada, with the first golden being registered in ! There are three main differences between the Canadian golden and the American or English, that will make them easy to tell apart from the others. Height — The easiest way to tell a Canadian golden retriever apart from the rest of the gang is by their height. Typically a Canadian golden is taller than the others by as much as two full inches. Coat hair — The hair on the Canadian golden retriever is usually shorter in length and thinner than the other types of golden on this list. So whilst there may be some slight differences in the size and coat of these goldens there is absolutely no difference between their beautiful souls and temperaments. No matter what type of golden you may have, you can be sure that they will all share the same people-pleasing drive, high intelligence, and soft mouths. Whilst the types of goldens are defined by the area they originate from we can further classify them by their coat color! And unlike the breed standards, the coat color classification is universal among all types. The three general colors of the golden retrievers can be categorized as light golden, golden and dark golden. You may have seen some retrievers out and about with copper, white or red tones. Below we shall look further into the different color classifications and you can see which category your golden fits into! A lot when it comes to goldens! This golden color is the one that will come to mind when you imagine this handsome breed and is the epitome of all goldens around the globe. The Light Golden Considered the lightest within the array of golden shades, light golden retrievers have a coat color that is just a little bit lighter than completely white. This shade is sometimes referred to as cream and is sally found in English goldens. The Dark Golden The dark golden retriever is often mistaken for its red or copper counterparts however you will actually find that the dark golden actually boasts just a deeper tone of golden yellow. With this darker tone. It is very easy to understand how people can mistake this darker shade for a red tint, after all, this darker golden tone is achieved by combining shades of yellow and orange! It should be noted however that there is a big distinction between the red-toned goldens and dark ones, especially when it comes to dog shows. The red-toned retrievers will have a red tone to the feathery hairs behind their ears, whereas a dark golden retriever will not. What About Black Golden Retrievers? But what about that black golden retriever you saw at the dog park? Chances are it was a flat-coated retriever or some type of goldie cross as purebred black golden retrievers do not exist. With so many variations within the breed, you may be struggling to figure out which golden you have. Luckily there are a few ways to help you determine the exact type and color your golden is! Below we have included a handy guide to help you: Check Their Build As discussed earlier in this article, we know that each type of golden retriever will have its only unique build and overall body size. A general guideline for the different types of golden is: The English Golden Retriever.
Sometimes called a Bull-Pug, the Miniature Bulldog is a cross between an English Bulldog and a Pug, Puggle, or French Bulldog to create a smaller size bulldog that will be perfect for your family. English Bulldogs were bred to bait, guard, and control bulls while Pugs have been companions to royals since about BC. They are peaceful and get along well with animals and people. You may find that some males are territorial or try to display dominance or aggression toward other male dogs. By nature, Bulldogs may occasionally display overprotective behaviors, but early training and socialization can help you manage it. They can be stubborn and slow during training, but they retain what they learn well. It frequently has a shortened muzzle like both parent breeds, which can sometimes lead to difficulty breathing especially in extreme temperatures. Eyes are dark, large, and round, and ears are thin and small and hang in a rose or button configuration. Mini Bulldogs have sleek and short, smooth and glossy coats that shed moderately but almost never tangle or mat. Black and fawn is the most common coloration, but you can also see brindle, red, and white. Typically this breed will be about 15 inches tall and weigh 15 to 45 pounds. They are not likely to ask for walks, and you may even find your pup to be lazy! But some daily exercise is crucial to keep these naturally thick-set dogs from becoming obese. Obesity runs in both parent breeds, so Mini Bulldogs are especially prone to putting on unhealthy weight. We recommend 30 minutes of activity per day and about 2 miles walking per week. Take care when exercising because their shortened muzzle makes them particularly sensitive to extreme temperatures. Up to date on shots and deworming. They will serves as perfect doggies in your home with kids and will easily get along to their new environment. Although these dogs are small, they are known to be full of love and affection, especially for their favorite humans. Although the American Kennel Club does not recognize them, they are recognized by other canine registries. They thrive on being with their favorite humans and enjoy nothing more than spending time with them. As long as they are properly socialized, their calm nature and sweet disposition mean they tend to get along with children, other dogs, and other pets. Although they are likely to bark to alert you of strangers, they also tend to be open to meeting new people and warm up quickly once introduced. The Mini Bulldog is a highly adaptable dog. They do well in apartments as well as larger homes with or without yards. They do best in moderate climates as they are very sensitive to heat and need some winter dog products to stay warm in the cold as well. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a Miniature Bulldog include cherry eye, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia , and luxating patella. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. Since both parents are brachycephalic, you can expect a Mini Bulldog to be a flat-faced, snub-nosed breed as well. This can contribute to difficulties breathing and regulating temperature, so you need to be careful about heat and overexertion with these dogs. The Miniature Bulldog is eager to please and will strive to get attention and praise from their families. Although they can have a little bit of a stubborn streak at times, they still tend to be a good fit for owners of all experience levels. Not only do they help reinforce training and keep it consistent, but they are also great opportunities to continue to socialize your puppy. Mini Bulldogs have short, dense coats that shed a low to moderate amount year-round. Brushing their coat weekly and the occasional bath is usually enough to keep their coat healthy and looking great. In addition to standard dog grooming brushes for this coat type, a rubber mitt can be a good tool to have on hand for easily removing excess fur. Nail trims once or twice a month are usually enough to keep nails from growing too long and causing issues. Weekly ear checks and carefully cleaning ears as needed can help prevent ear infections. Although their big, round eyes are adorable, they are also prone to damage from debris and can be sensitive. As a small dog breed, the Miniature Bulldog is more prone to developing dental disease. Daily brushing plus cleanings at the vet when needed are a good start. Although they will be energetic when they play, the Miniature Bulldog can also be one of the laziest dog breeds if you let them. Generally, they are happy to relax and cuddle with you, especially if there is food involved. Daily walks plus some playtime are usually enough for this dog. If they are interested in more activity or you need to encourage them to move more, there are safe ways to exercise flat-faced dogs that will let you give them the activity they need without overheating them. Friday, March 16, Puppy Surprise by Playskool I am going to veer away from my normal doll talk to share two things with you. First, an awesome toy called Puppy Surprise. Remember how I mentioned a while back about how much I like surprises? Well, this toy is perfect for me. It's perfect for a lot of kids in the year old range, too, in my experience. I think I have bought one of these for almost every kid I know in that age range. What is Puppy Surprise? It is a plush dog who is pregnant stuffed with removable puppies. The surprise is, you don't know how many puppies she has until you open the box and the dog. She could have anywhere from 2 to 4 puppies, and if she has 4, one of them is likely to be a runt. It's awesome. The puppies are also gendered, so you don't know if you're going to get boys or girls. In the early 90s, Hasbro made a similar toy, also called Puppy Surprise, but these dogs had vinyl faces. The older toys are also still available on eBay, but they tend to command higher prices, especially if the set is complete and in good shape. I like both versions, but slightly prefer the newer ones because they are all plush. A few years ago, when these started to go on clearance, I hoarded a ton of them so I could give them away as gifts. I have a few left over. Let's have some fun with them! Playskool Puppy Surprise discontinued. The dogs are about 9 inches tall and come in a fairly simple window box. The box emphasizes the surprise element, which works like a charm to get me to shell out my money: I hope it's 4! I need to know!! The box also gives you the exact odds of getting each number of puppies, which I think is very nice: 2 puppies: 1 out of every 4 boxes 3 puppies: 2 out of 4 boxes interesting 4 puppies 1 out of 4 boxes It also says that all twins are girls. The chances of having a boy are 1 in 6. Those are good odds for the fellas. Each mother dog has a pattern on her cheek called a "Pretty Patch. This way, if you have lots of these dogs, you can always reunite a mother with her original puppies by matching the patches. The gender of the puppies is indicated by the lining of their ears. If the lining is pink they're overheated girls, if it is blue, they're holding their breath boys. There are lots of different colors and styles of dog to choose from. I have seen purple poodles, pink poodles, black and white spotted dogs, pink and white spotted ones with fluffy ears, cream ones with fluffy ears, pure white ones, tan and pink ones.Playskool also made some different animals, like cats and rabbits. This one is a bit drab. She was on a massive clearance sale: You have to wrestle her out of three wire ties, and that's it. Let's get right to that part. The puppies are in the dog's belly, which opens and closes with velcro. It's nicely done and the dog has enough stuffing to be cuddly even without the puppies. Of course you can't tell how many puppies there are inside until you open her up. My kids and I used to hold every single box in the store and try to tell from the weight which ones had the most puppies. Here is the exciting moment! These dogs should come with a scalpel and sutures. It's a girl! She looks just like her mother: And it's.Who also looks just like her mother. Ah, well. These babies are essentially identical, but the way they are stuffed gives them very different personalities. The firstborn is very cute and normal and maybe a little shy-looking, and the second one has some serious attitude. She'd be telling dog jokes and running all over the place making trouble if she were real: Hey, hey! Did you hear the one about the chihuahuas and the light bulb? Ok, let's try again. I happen to have another one: This is my favorite out of all of the colors. She reminds me of my very first dog: She has a different Pretty Patch: Here we go! Health: Treats were made in the U. I mean, I love celebrating Halloween early as much as the next person, but in March? Mostly I was just weirded out by feeling like I'd been sent a Halloween box in March? Happy early Halloween, y'all! But in addition to that, everything in the box felt extremely high quality. Design: Both dog toys here felt very high-end and durable. Neither one was hideous, and I liked that there was a subtle St. I also loved that the rope toy is created through Fundacion Mitz which gives jobs to women in vulnerable communities. Health: I appreciated that the Loving Pets treats were made in the U. Customer Experience: I canceled my subscription via email, and it was easy. The customer service representative was pleasant and I liked that I got an email warning me that my subscription was renewing before I was out of the cancellation window. Summary: I was skeptical of this box going in because subscribing on the Greater Good site felt a little jenky, but I was actually really wow-ed by the quality of the items in the box and the value. I loved the products, and loved even more knowing that my purchase was feeding shelter animals. And our pick for the best Dog subscription box is… Okay, I lied. I love that it gives back, and everything in it felt really high-quality and thoughtfully-curated. I loved seeing a Fair Trade toy in the box, too. It felt good to buy an indulgent treat for our pups that also helped pups in need. Thanks for reading! Now let me say i have met, and know of a lot of good breeders, and have huge respect for those that know their lines, title and work their dogs, and breed stable nerved pups matched with the best home possible. HOWEVER- i have seen to many puppy buyers duped by your average Joe pretending to know how to breed and train dogs, and the family and puppy always pay the price. The puppy came out of the car and immediately barked at everything, and everyone with hackles raised, backing up. Over the next hour I worked my dogs, but kept an eye on the 4 month old pup. I watched her work, tried to get her to want to interact with me with hot dogs, and while i saw a slight improvement, for the amount of time and hot dogs i had every new position i went in, or object that crept up started the panic all over again. The good news??? If your going to spend the time, money, and want to add a purebred dog to your family, regardless of breed, PLEASE do your research! All dogs have weaknesses and downfalls, we breed to improve, if your breeder cannot state their dogs weaknesses or the areas they are breeding to improve do not walk away, run very very quickly.

The English Cream Golden Retriever is not a separate dog breed from the Golden Retriever ; it is simply a rarer coat color variation. These Golden Retrievers tend to have light white or cream-colored coats instead of honey, golden-brown, or reddish coats. As they are still standard Golden Retrievers, they are recognized by the AKC and other canine organizations and can be registered. An English Cream Golden Retriever has all the same traits as any other Golden Retriever; they are one of the most popular dog breeds and tend to be open, friendly, and make great family pets. One of the facts about Golden Retrievers is that they are considered one of the friendliest dog breeds. As long as they are socialized and trained, Goldens tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. They are even known for being open and friendly with strangers. As one of the kid-friendly dog breeds , Golden Retrievers love attention. These dogs tend to be energetic, full of personality, and are devoted to their families. They also tend to be excitable, which means they can be prone to barking. Training your dog to stop barking early on can help curb this habit and help prevent it from becoming a nuisance. Due to their friendly, gentle nature and intelligence, Goldens can often be found working as service, therapy, or search and rescue dogs. English Cream Golden Retrievers are highly adaptable dogs. Their high energy and exuberance make them better suited for homes with yards where they can run. They can adapt to apartment living, but you will need to dedicate a lot of time every day to ensure they get enough attention, mental stimulation, and exercise. Goldens fare well in most climates. As with any dog breed, they are sensitive to heat and extreme cold. Because they bond so closely with their families and are one of the most affectionate dog breeds , they do not like to spend long periods of time alone. Some potential health concerns to be aware of in an English Cream Golden Retriever can include canine cataracts, progressive retinal atrophy, hip dysplasia, and elbow dysplasia. Good breeding practices reduce the risk of these health issues and make a big difference in the health of puppies. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. The national breed club recommends hip and elbow evaluations, an NCL DNA test, an ophthalmologist evaluation, and a cardiac exam at a minimum. English Cream Golden Retrievers are intelligent and eager to please. This makes them highly trainable dogs that are a good fit for owners of all experience levels. Not only are they one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners , but they also tend to excel at obedience competitions and other dog sports. As one of the smartest dog breeds , Golden Retrievers can get bored easily. Because they pick up things quickly, they can get bored with too much repetition in training. If your dog has mastered basic commands , move on to other activities or more advanced commands. Anything you learn will help and will only strengthen the bond you are building with your puppy. Plus, there are several other benefits of puppy training classes including socialization. English Cream Goldens may have a lighter-colored coat, but they still have the classic longer Golden Retriever coat that will shed a big year-round and heavier as the seasons change. You will want to bathe them as needed and get your Golden professionally groomed a few times a year, especially as the seasons change. Trimming nails once or twice a month keeps them from growing too long. Weekly ear checks, along with careful cleanings as needed, can help prevent ear infections. Daily tooth brushing is ideal to keep tartar buildup at bay. This, plus cleanings at the vet when needed, is good dental care for dogs and can help prevent painful dental diseases later in life. Golden Retrievers are known for being high-energy dogs. Like Labrador Retrievers , they also tend to have an extended puppyhood. They do tend to calm down a little as they grow into adulthood, but will still have a lot of energy. Daily walks plus some playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough to keep this dog happy and healthy. Goldens tend to be athletic and versatile dogs. So, once they are done growing and the vet has cleared them for higher-impact activities, you can take them running with you, play frisbee, go hiking, train for dog sports, and more. As one of the most active dog breeds , you will likely run out of energy before they do and they will likely be up for even more activity if you are.
