Colors and Fur Our Premier Bernedoodles will be traditional tri-color much like a Bernese Mountain Dog , abstract tricolor similar to a traditional tricolor with less white in the face , sable similar to a traditional tri-color but has more reddish-browns due to the poodle genetics we use , phantom, merle, merle tricolor, or bi-colored brown and white, black and white, or shades thereof. Our F1b's will consist of black and whites, traditional tricolors, abstract tricolors, and lots of variable brown and reddish brown and whites. Color never reflects temperament and personality so usually most people don't really care too much what color they are. They are all really beautiful. Although there's variation due to the hybrid vigor present as a result of the recombination of genes in many arrays, there is definitely a bernedoodle appearance that is fairly consistent. If you let the hair grow, they will look like big shaggy dogs that you can't help but to give a big hug to. And they enjoy every minute of it! Our Premier Bernedoodles will tend to have wavy curly coats due to the coat types we require in our bernese mountain dogs which helps to minimize or eliminate shedding.We do make sure that our standard poodles do not carry the genetic marker known as the "Improper Coat" allele or IC for short. Wavy curly coats do require a little more grooming as compared to straight, but many, straight coats shed more.Although they are considered to be large, they don't act like a large dog in the house. They are generally very careful and calm natured as adults however they do have some puppy-fun energy thru the puppyhood stages and thru 3 years of age. They love people and other pets! We do thorough genetic testing of our adults that we use in our breeding program to assure that you are purchasing the healthiest of bernedoodle puppies. Our Bernese mountain dogs come from very long-lived blood lines in Western Europe and these longer lifespans is one of the many reasons we obtain our Berners from several specific populations known for their longevity. Obviously we can't guarantee lifespan as there are many variables outside of our control not to mention, environment, stress, climate, food, etc. But track record seems to show a longer lifespan. What's the Difference? An F1b is an F1 standard Bernedoodle backcrossed to a standard poodle or could be a backcross to a Bernese mountain dog but we generally use the poodle as the backcross. An F1bb is an F1b standard Bernedoodle backcrossed to a standard poodle. Behaviorally they are all very similar with the F1b and F1bb's being slightly smaller than our F1 standards and tend to have slightly curlier coats to a tight wave. I would like to think so, but if you do not plan on being with your bernedoodle and keeping it with you, in your home, as part of your home, this is definitely not the dog for you. We definitely support crate training, but these dogs are not meant to live their life in a crate nor kennel! If you want a pet that prefers to be in isolation, you may want to consider a nonsocial pet perhaps a Betta fish! Yes we have done a lot of the hard work the first 8 weeks as we do extensive early neurological stimulation bio-sensor and Puppy Culture program, along with starting crate training and housebreaking, BUT, they are puppies and will need your undivided attention for the next weeks as they work towards being completely housebroken and earning more privileges. They have been communicating with their siblings for the past 8 weeks using their mouth. During their normal daily interactions, you will occasionally hear a loud "yelp" in response to one biting another too hard. This yelp usually ends the mouthing behavior. Now puppies have fur and people generally do not. When you bring your bernedoodle home, they will likely display some degree of mouthing behavior toward their human family. This will usually stop this behavior. We then redirect their desire to mouth to something more appropriate like a chew toy and after a few seconds of cooperating we praise them. Albert is a rescue dog and with any rescue, we cannot guarantee breed or age. We believe Albert is to be an American Bulldog mix approximately 4 years old and currently weighs 60 lbs and we do not expect him to get much bigger if at all than his current size. Albert has the most adorable squishy smooshy face that is the perfect subject for picture opportunities and has the looks that will make everyone stop in your tracks. Albert is dog friendly and did great meeting all of the dogs we introduced him to. He will do well in a home with other moderately playful dogs that will also respect his space whenever he does not want to play and he would also make a great dog for a single pet household. Absolutely no kitties for Albert please, he liked our resident cats a little too much. He is what we consider medium to low energy and like most bulldogs, will not require a lot of exercise and would most likely do well in a apartment or condo. If you know bull dogs you know they can be very stubborn and set in their ways and training can be a little more of a challenge but Albert is very treat motivated which will make training that much easier. Bonus points: he already knows how to sit! He does respond well to corrections and checks in frequently with his handler. He will need some help polishing his leash skills as he can pull to things that excite him and will need to learn some basic obedience skills. He likes to jump every now and then when he gets excited or when those treats come out. Consistency, patience and treats will be key to setting Albert up to be the best doggy citizen he can be. Most F1 Brittanydoodles will have loose wavy gorgeous curls, but tight curls are possible as well. Puppies will not typically have straight hair with this cross. Although, it's important to note that most F1 Brittanydoodle will start out as newborns puppies with the appearance of straight fur and their waves and curls develop as they mature. Their appearance can range from Brittany features or those of the Poodle or somewhere in-between. The first generation benefits the most from hybrid vigour. Tighter curls are more predominant in this type of F1B Brittanydoodle, but looser curls and straighter coats more like the F1 do show up as well. Their appearance will lean more towards the Poodle features, but again, Brittany features can be present. A Double Doodle is the fusion of two hybrids with complementing attributes bred together to create a new hybrid with more hybrid vigour. Their appearance will be most like the F1 Brittanydoodle with wavy to loose wavy curls. The benefit of such a cross is that they are "second best" for retaining hybrid vigour. Generations Explained. Brittnepoos are a hybrid between two historic hunting breeds and carry over that desire to work. The Brittnepoo acquires this trait from its Poodle lineage. This makes them a great breed for those who suffer from allergies and want less shedding around the house. The Brittnepoo can have multiple coat types. Brittnepoo puppies often have their appearances modified. When Britnepoo puppies are still young, their tails are normally docked to less than 4 inches, and their dewclaws may be removed. And while many intelligent dogs have stubborn, independent streaks, the Brittnepoo is very eager to please and just loves to see their owner happy. Are These Dogs Good for Families? They just love having a playmate they can go on adventures with. These pups are very energetic and need their exercise. The Brittnepoo is a very sociable dog and just loves making new friends wherever they go. Leaving the dog park may become a chore, though. These are some active and robust pups and must be cared for accordingly. The food you choose for them should have a high protein content to build lean muscle, moderate fat content to store energy, and healthy complex carbohydrates to provide clean fuel to burn. Your Brittnepoo will require between cups of food per day, depending on their size and activity level. The amount of exercise these pooches need will easily offset extra calories. These buggers are full of energy! They love to run, play, and explore. Britnepoos need a minimum of 10 miles of exercise a week—sometimes more, depending on your dog. And they love being put to work. This will help keep them both physically and mentally engaged to prevent stubbornness and destructive behavior. Anything that can keep them positively challenged is a perfect activity for them. Just like most highly intelligent pups, Brittnepoos have a bit of an independent streak in them which, in other dogs, makes for a difficult train. However, such is not the case with the Brittnepoo. Their desire to please is much greater than their stubbornness and will generally take to training very quickly. Instead, lavish them with praise and rewards. The hardest part about training a Brittnepoo is leash training. Due to their long family history of hunting dogs, this breed can have severe wanderlust. Just remain firm and your pooch will learn to better control those urges. The combination of smooth, feathery spaniel hair and fine, curly Poodle hair will require multiple brushings a week to keep from matting. Also, the floppy nature of their ears leads water to be trapped within and promote bacteria growth. Be sure to give them a good cleaning to wash out any foreign material or microbes. Just be sure to take them to the vet for regular checkups and keep an eye out for the following conditions. Minor Conditions.
