Chicago French Bulldog Rescue According to the Texarkana Gazette , state troopers discovered the puppies in the back of a moving truck during a traffic stop in July. The truck contained 27 French bulldog puppies suffering from heat exhaustion—and one puppy had already died. The Gazette reported that the dogs were in plastic shipping crates without food or water, and that the temperature inside the van was recorded at degrees. The two drivers of the truck have since been charged with 28 counts of animal cruelty and are currently out on bond. Chicago French Bulldog Rescue The heat is especially dangerous to brachycephalic dogs with smushed faces like French bulldogs and pugs, as their short snouts make it even harder to breathe. Since their rescue, another four puppies have died because of the conditions they experienced in the van.
