The dog should always have access to a cool place and should be hosed off with cool water if outside for an extended period. Temperature Regulation Due to their compromised breathing system, these dogs often can not regulate their temperature effectively. Their coat is usually not long enough to keep them warm in cold weather. They can easily become cold in the winter but are also prone to heat stroke and exhaustion in the summer.
