royal canin pug puppy dry dog food
I love the breed. I am wanting to purchase another GSD female. I live in New castle Pa. Please call me if you have puppy available. They are by far the best dogs we have ever had. We have had other breeds, however, and they didn't train as easy and they weren't as well behaved as our German Shepherds. And the fact that they are great guard dogs is a plus. Very loyal, protective, and loving. They are sweet but protective even at 4 months. That are our breed of choice. By far they are the best and only dog breed I would own. They stick to you like glue and love to play. .They are extremely energetic and require a lot of time for exercise and training. Socialize early! Like it says on here, it makes a HUGE difference in how they perceive the world. They are such amazing dogs and will always protect your family. When I was a little girl my German shepherd always was there at the bs stop when I got off. He was SO protective. I recommend this breed but they shed A LOT so please do your research. You can't ask for a better combination of intelligence, beauty, loyalty, companionship and protector of home and family. They have a fantastic disposition! They are very gentle, loving, and are great with children. What more could you ask for? They are alert loving loyal companions. The only reason I can't have one at this time is I travel to rv parks and most of them won't take them, so I get Jack Russells. Probably the polar opposite personality, but they are pretty cool. His hips are very bad, he has arthritis and ihave a very hard tome walking. Both extremely different personalities. Females are great watch dogs, while males are more of a personal guard dog. They both were so loyal, loving, smart, obedient, easy to train, beautiful and the best friend you could ever ask for. Be careful with table foods and novelty treats, their stomachs can be sensitive which can cause diarrhea and vomiting. I always fed my two German shepherds top of the line dog food. It is much more expensive, but will keep your dog healthier and help to live longer I had my shepherds groomed every other month. My male had long hair, my female had short hair. She shed so much twice a year I could have made pillows out of her hair. That's why grooming was so important for her. They are amazing dogs, they had a large vocabulary and could tell me when they needed something or something was wrong. They will be forever in my heart. I honestly can't say a bad word about the breed, except mine is an escape artist. He opens doors, locked gates and I still haven't figured out how he does it, although I have secured the gates. I've had other breeds, but German Shepherd are in a class of their own, Truly majestic! We had him shipped from Ohio to Phoenix Arizona. The shipping company was easy to work with. We have had the dog now for a year and he has a great temperament. Everyone who sees him says he is really a beautiful animal. This web site made it very easy to pay and have the dog shipped within 3 days. I am an owner of my forth shepherd. Excellent as a watchdog, too. Surprisingly playful. We need 2 German Sheperd puppies that are going to grow up to be strong potecters that can handle kids and cats. I have had a few and am looking for another. To me they are just so smart and loyal and the best. And they learn fast. They are the most intelligent, loving and best breed I have ever known. My daughter Nicole, loves puppies and her friend, has a German Shepherd named Lewis , and she loves playing with him. I hope you love these pooches as much as I do. We didn't order one from here, and my wife is alergic to dogs fur, but that doesn't stop my daughter! The puppy was in excellent health and he is so intelligent, not to mention beautiful. He was completely house broken within two weeks and was responding to commands immediately. I highly recommend purchasing from this site and especially this farm. They are very obident and they stick with you through everything. She was very intelligent and had pups 2X if I am correct. I am now a proud Pit owner, I love him - he is also obedient very playful and great with my Grandkids and family. I may be interested in another GSD in the near future are there any locations near Indianapolis, Indiana? We met with a breeder John and saw how wonderful his children were with the puppies. We met the mother and father along with her siblings. When little Fiona at the time we re-named her Raven came running out we both fell in love. The puppies had freedom on the farm and when we transitioned her from farm life to city life it was easy. She is beautiful, smart, and so well behaved with us and our puppy. A big thank you to John in New Providence for our little girl. We love her and are just beyond happy with her! Mine even lets them lay on him! They are so smart and extremely easy to train. Very good family dog and excellent guard dog. Love them. Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by Elwood Clingan Great all around dog they have a high drive and must be tought to know there place in the family or you may have problems never let them think they are in charge an lead the way great protector and very kid friendly but plan on keeping them active as much as you can and training from a pup is a must Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by Ruth Pluck Westwoods None German Shepherd Breed Review by Michael hartentstine Beautiful puppy. To bad it grows into a disgusting, slobbering, farting, over grown horse. Gentle giants, but they Thot they were little dogs! Especially when they try to sit on ur lap. .She died a few mos. They're not gonna protect unless ya love them as a true family member. Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by reagan yes. Strong in character and their ability to and willingness to please. A forever companion with a loving and forgiving nature to the handler. It takes more than just mating a male with a female to produce quality. Having said that. The breed is protective, noble, honest and loving to the handler and family, and especially loyal. I would give him high star rating. He passed away at 13 and half years old. I only had to show him 1 time how to do sometime and he never forgot. Great family dog especially great and protective over baby's. I got Layla from a private breeder, and that is what I would more so recommend. Dogs from sites like this one are likely from puppy mills. Beautiful pup and not beautiful dog. We were able to meet the mother and father and we had no issues. In august of we got our second german shepherd pup Juno. She Is a beautiful bicolor female. Also the experience was good. No issues. Were able to meet mother and puppies. I recommend this site to anyone. We had no bad experiences and both our dogs are healthy , beautiful and wonderful with our children. Our German shepherd makes us laugh, angry, and totally in love with him. Anderson is an amazing dog and German Shepherds are an amazing breed. I will never go with another breed. Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by Stephanie German shepherds are great dogs and with little training they catch on to many tricks and learn how to walk on a leash properly they are very protective of the family and angels to their family they are loyal, incredible, and smart dogs I highly recommend them they also are vary active and needs lots of exercise Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by Sam Grewal i had a German Shepard for 13 years, he just passed away last week, German Shepard is a awesome dog, very handsome, strong, loyal, fearless, protective and above all very very intelligent dog, during the age between four months to a year they learn almost everything you teach, just have to be a patient while teaching but they learn faster than most other breeds. They shed lot of hairs but if you brush them twice a week then you wont see much shedding. I suggest German Shepard strongly because they make better family pet than any other breed. Needs groomed weekly. On the road to pick up ourGreat companion dogs, very protective of the family, great with little kids ,very intelligent, almost like they are trying to figure out what you are thinking. Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by Brian Anderson Have 2 white ones I can't imagine life without them they are so in tune with people and understand a lot more than most dogs their loving nature matches their smarts and will always be up for an adventure my one tries to talk back when you speak to her it's hilarious to see she looks u in the eyes when u speak like she's really paying attention to every word haha no breed is better Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by Tracy We used this site to find our Jake. He's a true blessing to our family. The dog I got is beautiful and healthy. Being from NJ I was a little hesitant on searching for a breeder. But I am so happy I took the risk and found a new best friend. She was the best dog I ever had. I am currently looking to adopt one to keep! After weeks of research my boyfriend and I decided on a German Shepherd. We are surprised everyday that he does not chew and has never one gone to the bathroom in he house. He is extremely well tempered with our patients I am a paramedic and he is a fireman , with hopes of turning him into a service dog on our local ambulance. WE could not have chosen a better dog or a better breeder, we recommend this site to all of our friends that are looking for puppy. If you can hang in there and put in the time and the training, you will have a loyal, loving, and intelligent lifetime companion. You will get back so much more than you can possibly imagine! Hes great smart amd loyal. But if i could rate breeder it wasnt 1 star. He had no knowledge of health issues and said the puppy had no worms but when i got him checked he had round worm. German Shepherd Breed Review by sophia German shepherds are very loyal. They are caring and aggressive in a good way Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by sophia German shepherds are very loyal. Can't beat the loyalty and intelligence these dogs offer. German Shepherd learn's and understand fast. He is a wunderful Familydog. But you must train all the time and be a true companion! I cannot stress enough how thankful I am to have found the love of my life, thanks Donna! She is truly a blessing. Her temperament is so submissive it's unbelievable. My family owns two miniature poodles as well, and those two little poodles eat and drink out of her bowls and even boss my loveable 80 pound German Shepherd around and all she does is lower her ears and allow those little ones to do it. If you're looking for a loveable active dog to add to your family I recommend a German Shepherd from greenfield puppies percent. My puppy loves to play fetch and play ball all day everyday so be prepared to give your dog the attention it needs , these dogs are trained to be k9 dogs after all so keep that in mind. Words cannot possibly begin to express how thankful I am to donna and greenfield puppies for connecting me with my life long friend, I am forever grateful. Thank you so, so, much. I definitely recommend getting one that is young as they will bond with you quickly and I find its the easiest to train from a very young age, reinforcing all training as they grow. I socialized Augustus from the start at 8 weeks, taking him to festivals, socials, and family and family get togethers. I encouraged my friends, family, and strangers to pet him all over, pick his paws up, and just be personal. This is the best way to make your shepherd comfortable with others and makes for a better friendly face in public and your home. I live in a townhouse, with not much of a back yard, so we visit a bunch of parks a few times through the week to keep him active. Bottom-line, GSDs are great friends and an excellent choice. I find that Augustus mirrors my own personality and is very comfortable and relaxed in an array or circumstances and companies. Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by sandra Bash the best dog you can possibly own my Shepard schultz is the best dog so smart everyday he amazes me with the things he does i will never own any other breed Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by Doreen Baldridge Great stud. A GSD will keep you on your toes and give you no peace. They are always up to something. I have the perfect lifestyle for these dogs. I jog, hike, bike, and enjoy sports. Also, they are so beautiful. Hes great with kids of all ages and is super playful. Just be careful this guy is 7 months old and about pounds n hes still got a long time to grow ahead of him, but i will say super protective and very helpful especially once he gets to full size Rating: German Shepherd Breed Review by Austin Cowan They are all around great dogs. They have a good temperament are great for families; great with kids and other dogs. They listen well if trained and really are one of my favorite breeds to own. He is now 2 years old, and is the most wonderful dog I have owned. He is super alert and does very well with my kids. Life Span Did You Know? The German Shepherd is one of the most versatile, well-recognized, and popular dog breeds in the world. The modern German Shepherd is descended from a family of various German herding dogs. Breed standards were not developed until the late 19th century when Captain Max von Stephanitz, a German cavalry officer, worked with Arthur Meyer and other breeders to develop the ideal German herding dog. Stephanitz and Meyer wrote the breed standard in and the American Kennel Club recognized the German Shepherd as a member of the Herding Group in .Although they were originally bred as herding dogs, they were also bred for versatility, which made the German Shepherd an all-around working dog that could excel in a variety of applications. German Shepherds are one of the common dog breeds employed in K-9 units in both police and military applications. They also make great service dogs and, of course, are still awesome herding dogs and farm dogs! The German Shepherd is a strong-willed and highly intelligent dog. They have a playful, energetic spirit and tend to get along with children, other dogs, and other pets, which makes them a great family companion. A born protector, the German Shepherd will provide a great sense of security for their family while their loving and lively personality will make them fit right in as a companion. German Shepherds are naturally protective and can be wary of strangers at first. A well-socialized German Shepherd will bark to alert you and tends to warm up to strangers once introduced. German Shepherds are dogs that were bred to herd and work. This, plus their high energy, makes them a better fit for homes with fenced yards where they can run. They can adapt well to larger apartments as long as plenty of time is dedicated to ensuring they get enough exercise, mental stimulation, and attention every day. A bored, ignored, or under-exercised German Shepherd can often become a destructive one. They also can be sensitive to their surroundings and large gatherings can be off-putting. With a longer coat, they tend to prefer cooler climates and are sensitive to heat. The German Shepherd is a generally healthy breed, but there are some potential health concerns and good breeding practices make a big difference. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a German Shepherd include hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia , and degenerative myelopathy. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. So, make sure you are asking about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. As a barrel-chested breed, the German Shepherd is also at risk for bloat. While the German Shepherd is highly intelligent and highly trainable, they are generally not recommended for novice owners. If you are a novice dog owner, enroll in puppy training classes or enlist the help of a professional dog trainer; not just for your dog, but for yourself as well. Training assistance will help you grow in experience and build a strong bond between you and your German Shepherd puppy, which is essential. Also, the GSD has a thirst for training and fulfillment. They get bored easily and especially with repetition, so continued training with your German Shepherd throughout their life will be necessary. German Shepherds have a medium-to-long double coat. They will shed year-round and heavier as seasons change. Brushing a few times a week is usually sufficient; brushing daily is even better and your GSD will likely love you for it. Bathing is occasional on an as-needed basis. Ear checks weekly with careful cleanings as needed can help prevent ear infections. German Shepherds are high-energy working dogs. Not only do they require a lot of daily activity, but they also are a herding breed that was made to run, guard, and observe, so they need a job to do to be happy and healthy. Daily walks plus playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough for a GSD, but they will likely be up for more activity if you are. With their versatility and athleticism, you can try a lot of different activities when puppies finish growing and they are cleared for higher-impact things. A fully-grown German Shepherd usually stands inches tall and weighs pounds. German Shepherds generally live for years on average. Corporal Duncan brought him back to the United States and Rin-Tin-Tin became one of the most famous dog actors in history. Featured German Shepherd Article.

Because crossbreeding is still controversial, some individuals are hesitant to get a French Bulldog Poodle cross. While some people think of mixed breeds as a genetic anomaly, others see benefits in terms of looks, health, and temperament. Listed below are some of the advantages of owning a French Bulldog Poodle mix: Highly sociable: Poodles and French Bulldogs make excellent family pets. The mixed offspring inherits the strong characteristics of both parents, making it a wonderful family friend. The loving and lively personality of the French Boodle is ideal for households with children or other household pets. While the appearance of a French Boodle mix puppy can vary, you can always expect a one-of-a-kind dog with traits from both parents. If you enjoy dogs that are rare and unusual, this dog should be at the top of your list. Low maintenance: Any pet owner can sustain the lifestyle of a French Bulldog Poodle mix. This cross could also be a low shedder that just requires occasional brushing and bathing. Future owners of French Boodles should also consider the following drawbacks of having this unusual crossbreed: Unpredictability in size: Size is also a concern for dog owners. Despite the fact that the French Bulldog Poodle mix is expected to grow between tiny and medium in size, the size differences between the parent breeds make it difficult for owners to anticipate which gene the pup will inherit. Prone to several health issues: Diseases common to their parent breeds can be passed down to French Boodles. Its parent breeds are also prone to obesity and fragile joints that could be inherited by the hybrid offspring. Not a good guard dog: Though the French Bulldog Poodle mix is a highly intelligent breed, it is not an ideal breed for a watchdog due to its outgoing personality. Instead of guarding your home against strangers, they are more likely to make them new friends. When considering if a French Poodle mix is an appropriate dog for you, you should not overlook the importance of knowing the benefits and risks of crossbreeding. Understanding and evaluating how this breed will fit into your daily schedule could also help you decide if this pooch is right for you. Should a French Bulldog Mix take after their Frenchie parent, they will be a small companion breed that bonds closely with their families. They tend to have an energetic, playful personality and love nothing more than being with their favorite humans. French Bulldogs tend to be friendly, playful, and affectionate dogs that get along with just about everyone. They tend to get along with children, other dogs, and other pets. They will even warm up quickly to strangers as long as they have been properly socialized. If the other parent breed has a similar temperament, then you should be able to expect the same from a French Bulldog Mix. You can also meet the mother in person to see what her temperament is like and the behavior she is modeling for the puppies. The breeder should have started some training and socialization, but it is up to you to continue to train and socialize a puppy once you get them home. Frenchies are highly adaptable dogs. They do well in apartments as well as larger homes. However, as a brachycephalic breed, they are extra sensitive to heat and also sensitive to the cold. They also do not like being left alone for long periods of time. If the other parent breed is similar, then you can expect a Frenchie Mix to also be a highly adaptable dog. The other parent will introduce their own traits and some potential quirks, so you do want to ask the breeder about them. They could inherit none of the conditions common to their parent breeds, or they could inherit some or all of them. They can also be prone to allergies, have sensitive skin, and also a sensitive stomach. Good breeding practices will make a huge difference. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing issues to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both of the parents. Although French Bulldogs can sometimes be stubborn, they are eager to please and tend to be easy to train. As long as training is consistent and focused on positive praise and reward, they can be a good fit for owners of all experience levels. If the other parent breed is also easy to train, then you can expect a French Bulldog Mix to be highly trainable as well. Regardless of owner experience, there are many benefits of puppy training classes. A mixed-breed dog can inherit a coat similar to one of their parents or a coat that is a mix of both. You will also need to clean their facial wrinkles. Weekly ear checks with cleanings as needed can help prevent ear infections. As a small dog breed, a Frenchie Mix is more prone to developing dental diseases later in life. This makes good, consistent dental care for dogs even more important for them. Daily brushing with a dog-friendly toothpaste or using an enzyme toothpaste paired with cleanings at the vet when needed is ideal. Frenchies are known couch potato dogs that are happy to lay back, relax, and cuddle with you. Daily walks plus some playtime are usually enough for this affectionate little dog. Even though they like to relax, they also like to play and will be energetic when they do. They can also be athletic and compete in dog sports. As a brachycephalic breed, you do need to be careful of overexertion and overheating. But, there are plenty of ways to safely exercise flat-faced dogs to make sure your French Bulldog Mix gets enough exercise. If the other parent breed is also a low-energy breed, then you can expect something similar from a Frenchie Mix. If the other parent breed requires more activity, then you will need to be prepared for the potential of a higher energy dog. Fully-grown Frenchies usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. The other parent breed can have a big effect on this, especially if they are the mother, so make sure you ask the breeder about them. This can give you some idea of what size to expect in a fully-grown French Bulldog Mix. French Bulldogs generally live for years. Although the other parent breed may affect this slightly, you should be able to expect a similar average life span in a French Bulldog Mix. Featured French Bulldog Mix Article. How do I leave a review of my Golden Retriever experience? Life Span Did You Know? The Golden Retriever has been an AKC-recognized breed since and was commonly used as a gun dog and for retrieving small game such as waterfowl, and for companionship. The Golden Retriever originated in the Scottish Highlands. The first Lord Tweedmouth, Dudley Majoribanks, is credited with developing the breed and keeping detailed records to create the ideal gun dog for the terrain. Great discipline and a gentle spirit make the Golden Retriever a perfect retrieval breed since the goal of this task is to bring the trophy back as undamaged as possible. Golden Retrievers first appeared in dog shows in at a British dog show. They also started appearing in the United States around the same time as they were brought across the Canadian border. They gained popularity with sport hunters and in general. Their popularity really took off in the s and they are consistently one of the most popular dog breeds. If you are not the sporting type, bringing a Golden Retriever into your family as a pet is just as rewarding because they are one of the most loyal and jovial breeds out there. One of the facts about Golden Retrievers is that they are the epitome of friendly and make fantastic family dogs. Golden Retrievers are considered one of the friendliest dog breeds. They tend to be good with kids, other dogs, other pets, and even strangers. Goldens love attention and they bond closely with their families. They are affectionate with them, and also just about everyone else. Although they do tend to get along with everyone, they love being around their favorite humans the most. They will bark to alert you and can end up barking a lot if you do not train your dog to stop barking early on. Golden Retrievers are highly adaptable dogs. They thrive in homes with yards where they can run. They can also adapt to apartment living as long as they get enough daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention. These dogs do well in just about any climate, but are sensitive to heat. As one of the most affectionate dog breeds , they are not at all happy about being left alone for long periods of time. Although super-friendly and attention-loving, Goldens can also be sensitive to their surroundings; make sure they feel included, but have a quiet place to go if things get too noisy or overwhelming. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a Golden Retriever include progressive retinal atrophy, cataracts, elbow dysplasia , and hip dysplasia. Good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of puppies. Reputable breeders screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of the parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. Goldens are considered one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners. They are highly trainable dogs that pick up on things quickly and are eager to please. These traits make them a good fit for owners of all experience levels. It also helps them excel at obedience competitions. As one of the smartest dog breeds , Golden Retrievers can get bored easily. Because they pick up things quickly, they can get bored with too much repetition in training. If your dog has mastered the command, move on to something more advanced or another activity. You can also enroll in puppy training classes for some variety in training and also some socialization. Golden Retrievers have a long double coat that will shed a little year-round and will be heavier twice a year as the seasons change. Brushing a few times a week and daily brushing during seasonal shedding along with a bath as needed is usually enough for at-home care. You will want to go to the dog groomer for a professional trim a few times a year, especially as the seasons change. Nail trims once or twice monthly keep nails from growing too long. Daily tooth brushing, along with cleanings at the vet when needed, is ideal. Golden Retrievers are one of the most active dog breeds. Daily walks plus some playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough to keep these dogs happy and healthy. But, they are high-energy dogs that will likely always be up for more activity if you are. Much like the Labrador , they also tend to have an extended puppyhood. They tend to start winding down a little around the age of 3 and settle into your lifestyle, but they will still be high-energy dogs that require a lot of daily activity. Goldens are known for being versatile and athletic dogs. They tend to love swimming. Once they are done growing and the vet clears them for higher-impact activities, you can try other things too. They are one of the dog breeds that make good running partners. You can also teach them how to play frisbee or play fetch. Training for dog sports is another good option. In addition to obedience, Golden Retrievers are well suited for agility, dock diving , rally, flyball, tracking, and more. Fully-grown Golden Retrievers usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Golden Retrievers generally live for years on average. With their intelligence, eagerness to please, and gentle disposition, Golden Retrievers are versatile working dogs. In addition to being one of the dog breeds that make the best service dogs , Goldens can be found working as emotional support dogs, certified therapy dogs, search and rescue dogs, military dogs, police dogs, animal actors, and more. FAQs Much time and research goes into breeding the finest bernedoodles. We import our Bernese Mountain dogs from Hungary and Ukraine to get the heavy head and stocky build. We purchase dogs from champion lines with good hips and then DNA test to preclude any known diseases. Our poodles provide the genetics that produce gorgeous markings and the "perfect bernedoodle look. Quality Breed Bernedoodles are a designer hybrid cross between the Bernese Mountain Dog and its teddy bear personality, gorgeous coat and markings, heavy shedding and short life span, with a standard poodle, and its well deserved reputation as the smartest dog with a loving personality, non-shedding coat and improved life span. When the two are bred together, their diverse genetic background produces a hybrid puppy that is healthier than either breed alone, with DOUBLE the life expectancy of the BERNER, low shedding coat and highly trainable intelligence. This new hybrid is fast becoming extremely popular, and anyone with money to purchase two dogs can become a bernedoodle breeder. Be careful where you purchase your bernedoodle puppies. Many people know enough to label the F1, F1b and F2 generations , but far fewer understand the genetic implications of those terms or raise their puppies in sanitary conditions, with the best food available and all medical precautions to ensure you are receiving a puppy that will supply you with many years of happiness. There are also many bernedoodle breeders still trying to figure out how to produce the tri-colored puppies with Berner markings. Don't rush to spend those thousands of dollars. THAT'S the only kind we raise! FAQs The run away popularity of these Bernedoodles has triggered development of new sizes, new generations and new hybrids. The Bernese Mountain Dog, when bred to a standard poodle, produces a smarter dog with less shedding and a longer lifespan. When bred to a small poodle, the Bernese Mountain dog produces a mini Bernedoodle. When that product is bred back to yet a smaller poodle, a smaller mini is produced. That generation is more poodle than the original Bernedoodle, and the wonderfully mellow temperament that was originally associated with the Bernedoodle, is not as obvious in ensuing generations, nor in the smaller dogs, as the poodles used to breed them are not as mellow as the standard poodle used to breed the original hybrid. Other breeders have incorporated genetics from other dog breeds in an attempt to improve on an already wonderful combination. Whether those combinations will in fact yield improvements in health, intelligence and life span can only be known as we watch how the breed develops in the future. Continued Development. I wasn't quite expecting that. There's been a ton of great feedback, and people really love it. Post header Skip post header How much exercise does a Pug need? Pugs are playful and affectionate dogs who love being by your side. This makes them pawfect for people with families. How much exercise does an adult Pug need? Roughly 30 minutes in their daily routine should do the trick. There are many ways you can get your Pug to hit their exercise goals. And if you want to keep them mentally stimulated, swapping out a walk with some enrichment games can go a long way for them. But as owners, knowing exactly how much they need can be difficult. How much exercise does a Pug puppy need? The typical rule of thumb is that 5 minutes of formal exercise for each month your pup has been in this world is enough for them. This is because over-exercising them can cause their health issues to worsen, and affect their hips and knees causing hip dysplasia further down the line. Our app will even adjust their exercise goal for them as they grow. How much exercise does a senior Pug need? It may come as a surprise to people that dogs can become seniors as early as 8 years of age. Around this time you may notice your furry companion slowing down or having less interest in their games. How can I keep my Pug busy? Command training. This keeps your dog busy and helps with mental stimulation and has the added benefit of helping your pup with their training. You can start with more simple commands such as sit, wait and look, and work your way up to the more difficult ones like heel, rollover, and paw. Toys can be used in multiple ways and come in all shapes and sizes. From a dog-approved rope to play tug of war with, to a fluffy dinosaur for them to tear apart. Treat-release toys. These are particularly good because it involves no work on your part. Just fill them up and let your dog do the rest. Single page Single page 10 best dog breeds for city living City life often means apartment living and you might think this would make owning a dog difficult. While it is sensible to avoid large dog breeds there are lots of smaller dog breeds will be perfectly happy living the high rise lifestyle. Pug Exercise Overview Exercising your Pug plays an essential role in long-term health and is a vital part of overall care. While you must take care when exercising your little guy or gal, by no means should you avoid it or be afraid of it. A sedentary Pug is an unhealthy Pug. The key is to find the right balance. The Benefits of Exercising a Pug There are many reasons to keep your Pug active: 1 It helps maintain muscle tone which in turn promotes good posture and proper support surrounding the hips and knees. Since this breed is prone to elbow dysplasia, Legg-Calve-Perthes and hip dysplasia, this is a very relevant benefit. Exercise Restrictions for Pugs Pugs can and should be exercised every day. However, there are some restrictions to keep in mind. You will want to avoid: 1 Excessive exercise when under 10 months old. This is a time of rapid growth and very excessive exercise can affect growth plates, the soft areas at the end of bones where cells continually divide, allowing bones to properly grow as the pup matures into his adult size. Once growth is complete, the plates close. If a puppy is put under too much physical stress, there can be damage to those plates which can lead to malformed or shortened limb s. Normal walking and play are not considered excessive. You will want to avoid lengthy full-out runs or forcing activity when a pup has reached his limit. This breed is prone to bloat. To help prevent this, avoid having your dog run around in the yard or taking a purposeful, brisk walk until one hour has passed after a meal. Pugs, being a brachycephalic breed, have some level of stenotic nares narrow nostrils and elongated palate soft tissue at the back of the root of the mouth partially blocks the windpipe. This can cause noisy breathing and it limits to what extent a Pug can endure physical activity. Heavy breathing is also an indication of heat stress that if not addressed can lead to heat stroke. During an exercise session, breaks should be taken every 15 minutes or so; but, should be halted if a Pug is struggling to catch their breath. When the temperature is soaring and especially if the air is very humid this can exacerbate breathing issues. Activity may need to be scaled back or brought inside. Age to Start Exercising a Pug If you just brought home a new puppy, you may be very eager to start taking your Pug for walks around the neighborhood or head out to the dog park. However, Pug puppies should not be brought out to public places for exercise until all puppy shots have been given. This is typically by the age of 12 to 14 months old. You will want to confirm this with your Pug's veterinarian. This should be a light to moderate cardio that slightly increases heart rate and keeps a Pug's body in motion. This can be greatly extended for Pugs that are healthy and enthusiastic to stay more active than this. With precautions in place, a Pug can go for an hour walk or more and there can be 3 to 4 exercise sessions per day. Exercise frequency and duration can be adjusted as needed. Weather including hot summer days or freezing winter days can affect a Pug's tolerance for outdoor activity. It can help to split up exercise sessions into shorter intervals, for example, four minute walks as opposed to two minute walks. And, as a Pug transitions into the senior years or if there is a develop of hip or joint issues, exercise may need to be scaled back. In most cases, there is never a valid reason to completely stop exercising a Pug since remaining sedentary often leads to a wide range of health issues. Going for walks is the most traditional method of ensuring that a dog meets their exercise requirements and for good reasons. There is always a Point A and a Point B which gives you both a goal and helps ensure proper duration. And, unlike free-running, intensity can be adjusted by you, as you see fit. This is another excellent way to keep a Pug active. This refers to a controlled physical activity session, often with alternating short bouts of cardio and rest. The classic game of fetch fits into this category and is a good choice since most dogs find it to be very enjoyable and it helps strengthen the owner-dog bond. In addition, fetch can be played both indoors and out, making this perfect no matter the weather. Tips for Walking Your Pug By following some easy guidelines, you can take your Pug for walks knowing that you are allowing your dog to reap the benefits of exercise in a safe manner. When exercising a Pug, breathing-related issues must always stay a top priority. And, the accessories that you place on your Pug play a huge role in this. Collars place pressure and tension against the windpipe which can severely impact a Pug's ability to breath. Each pull on the leash or lunge to the side puts compression on already stressed airway structures. Avoid this by using a harness. This distributes tension from the leash onto the shoulders, back, and chest where Pugs have strong skeletal muscles. There are different types of harnesses including step-in and pull-overs, straps and vests. One recommended one is the Puppia Soft B Vest Harness which is an easy step-in design nothing needs to be pulled over the head with an air-mesh fabric that keeps a Pug comfortable and cool, and an easy-close Velcro flap on the back. When you take your Pug for walks, you will want to be in control of the pace and the easiest way to accomplish this is to have your Pug in a heeling position; this means to your immediate left and no further ahead than the extension of your foot. For this, you will hold the handle of the leash in your right hand, allow the leash to cross past your body, and then grip it near your left hip. Using a 6-foot leash or a retractable leash will help you feel comfortable when doing this. For this, you may wish to consider the Flexi Retractable Dog Leash which has a very comfortable grip and a one-handed brake button. Offer a break for rest and hydration at the halfway mark of a short walk and every 15 to 20 minutes on a long walk. This should be done even if your Pug seems to be handling their exercise just fine and there are no signs of overheating. You may wish to bring along a collapsible bowl and a chilled water bottle or an all-in-one option like the Tuff Pupper Portable Water Bottle. Concrete, pavement, and brick can all reach over F degrees during the summertime which can cause burns to the paws. If you cannot hold your palm to the surface for a count of 5, it's too hot for your Pug to walk on. Paw wax see tip 7, ahead , staying in the shade, or rescheduling walks for early morning and later in the evening can help with this; generally taking your Pug out before 10 AM and after 5 PM will help you avoid the hottest parts of the day. Keep your Pug securely in a heel position so you can react to and help with any traction issues. Paw wax see next tip can help with this. On days that the temperature is below freezing, limit the duration of the walk. And, during stormy weather snow or ice storms your dog's safety is more important than that one exercise session, so the walk may need to be put on hold. Paws take a beating when a dog is out and about. Hot walking surfaces, frozen walking surfaces, allergens, irritants, and slippery small gravel or ice surfaces are all possible issues. Applying a paw wax can help with all of these aspects. A good one to use is Musher's Secret Paw Protection Wax ; this absorbs pretty quickly, only has to be applied once every 2 weeks, and does a great job at offering a breathable layer of protection and better traction. The last thing you want to happen is that your Pug tires out once you're at the halfway mark and still need to turn around and cover the same amount of distance to return home. On the first day, go half the distance and see how your Pug did. You can then add on more distance the next time. With your little guy or gal on a harness and in the heeling position previous tip 1 , you can speed up, slow down, go around telephone poles, swerve around bushes, etc. This can be played in many places including your own yard or a park or can be kept inside on days with bad weather as long as you have room in your house. Some dogs naturally know how to play and others need a bit of time to catch on. Here are some tips to keep this a fun and beneficial activity. If this is going to replace a walk, set a timer for 15 to 20 minutes. The more animated you are and the more you let yourself laugh, the more your Pug will want to chase after the fetch toy and enjoying bringing it back to you for another go. Even if your Pug can't catch the ball in the air or is a bit confused about what to do, your encouraging words will keep things moving along. Give praise for 'good tries' and effort that your Pug puts into the game. And, offer a reward treat when the game is complete. A fun fetch toy for outside games is the Chuckit! Flying Squirrel Spinning Toy ; this brightly colored fabric toy does some pretty wild soaring and is easy for a dog to mouth. And, if you have some space in your house like a large room or a long hallway, you can play fetch with your Pug using a toy like the Chuckit! Indoor Roller Dog Toy. There is an optional launcher that shoots the ball for you, if your arm needs a rest. While you do want to keep your Pug moving for at least 15 minutes, it's best to end the game while your little guy or gal is still having fun. This will help your puppy or dog look forward to the next session. If your Pug has a hard time accepting that the game is over and is clamoring at you to continue, you can give one last throw and then offer a reward treat as a sign that the session is truly over. Switching to a new activity like brushing the coat can help your Pug make the transition. Alternative Ways to Keep a Pug Active 1 Dog parks can be a great place for a Pug to move around if he is otherwise reluctant at home. Interacting with other dogs can be motivation to run around and can be a good way to build social skills. You will want to be sure to visit a park that has separate areas for dogs based on size. Never let your Pug into an area with much larger dogs. Keep an eye on your Pug to assess breathing and separate him for breaks and re-hydration as needed. Keeping visits to the park to 1 hour is a good time limit. This is a low-impact exercise that is sometimes used in recovery therapy for dogs being treated for joint issues. This said, since the Pug has a barrel-shaped body, this breed is not the most proficient swimmer. Play it safe by having your Pug wear a canine life vest and staying by their side for close supervision. Be sure to rinse your dog off afterward to make sure chlorine and pool chemicals are washed from the skin and coat. Pugs can go on hikes and explore many places with their humans. If you search for hiking places to bring your Pug, the 3 aspects to focus on are distance, difficulty, and terrain. It's recommended to stick to trails no longer than 2 miles if you plan to loop around , those rated as easy or introductory, and with a terrain of solid, soft, or gently rolling hills avoiding those marked steep or rough. A Final Word Since the Pug breed is prone to weight gain and certain joint issues, exercise is an important part of care that will help keep your dog's body in good shape, maintain important muscle mass, keep the heart healthy, and burn calories. Pugs tend to mimic their owners; if their human is happy to sit around all day, a Pug may be perfectly content to snooze the day away. But, if their human sends out a vibe that engaging in exercise is fun, a Pug is often more than happy to join in. Keep your Pug active while being away of their limitations; it's an important step in extending your Pug's life span to be as long as possible. Did you find this to be helpful? Pugs are a small and charming breed known for their distinctive wrinkled face, short muzzle, and curly tail. They have a long history dating back to ancient China, where they were treasured as companions to Chinese royalty. Pugs have a compact and sturdy build, with an average height of cm and a weight ranging from kg. Their life expectancy is usually between 12 and 15 years. What is the temperament of Pugs like? Pugs have a friendly and affectionate temperament, making them excellent companions and family pets. They are known for their love of human company and thrive on attention and companionship. Pugs are generally good with children and get along well with other pets. They have a fun-loving and playful nature, always ready to entertain and bring joy to their owners. Pugs are known to have a strong bond with their families and can be quite sensitive to their owner's emotions. How much exercise do Pugs need? Pugs have a moderate exercise requirement and should be provided with daily physical activity to keep them fit and healthy. They need approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour of exercise each day, which can be split into multiple short walks or play sessions. It's important to note that Pugs can be prone to overheating due to their short muzzle, so exercise should be done during cooler times of the day and in shaded areas. Be mindful of their breathing and avoid strenuous activities that may cause respiratory distress. Pug puppies have different exercise requirements compared to adult dogs. Their growing bodies and developing joints require caution to avoid injury. It's recommended to provide short and gentle exercise sessions for puppies, focusing on playtime and controlled activities that don't put excessive strain on their joints. Avoid long walks or high-impact activities until they are fully developed, usually around 12 months of age. Do Pugs need a lot of grooming? Pugs have a short, smooth coat that is relatively easy to maintain. They are average shedders and require regular brushing to keep their coat healthy and remove loose hair. A weekly brushing session with a soft bristle brush or grooming mitt is usually sufficient. They should be bathed every months or as recommended by your vet or a professional groomer. Pugs are prone to wrinkles and folds on their face, so it's important to clean and dry these areas regularly to prevent skin irritation or infection. Like any dog, regular tooth brushing with a dog-specific toothpaste twice daily is ideal. Are Pugs easy to train? Pugs are generally intelligent and eager to please, but they can have a stubborn streak, which can make training a bit challenging at times. Positive reinforcement methods, such as rewards and treats, work best when training Pugs. They respond well to praise and gentle guidance. Keep training sessions short, fun, and engaging to maintain their interest. Consistency, patience, and a sense of humour are key when training Pugs. Early socialisation and basic obedience training are important to ensure they grow up to be well-behaved and confident dogs. What do Pugs eat? A balanced and nutritious diet is essential for the overall health and well-being of Pugs. Feed them high-quality dog food that is appropriate for their age, size, and activity level. Puppies should be fed a puppy-specific small dog diet formulated to support their growth and development. Most puppies should be fed times a day until 6 months old, when this is reduced to twice daily. As they mature, they can transition to adult dog food. It's important to monitor their weight and adjust their portion sizes accordingly to prevent obesity, as Pugs can have a tendency to overeat. Consult with your vet for specific dietary recommendations and feeding guidelines for your Pug. Are Pugs healthy? Pugs may be prone to certain health conditions. Toy Breed Dogs Breed Guides. If this is your first time owning a small dog like a Pug, you may not know how long you can walk a Pug puppy? These small dogs will love walking right beside you, but they need special attention and care during their walks, unlike other breeds. However, if you like to have fun and play around with your Pug, too, keep the total exercise time from 40 minutes to one hour as recommended by the UK Pug Dog Club and the American Kennel Club. Cute little Pugs, with their funny flat faces, big sparkling eyes, and curly tail, are so fascinating and attractive, but they stay low-key most of the time. They show only short bursts of energy, hence enjoying shorter playtimes and leisure walks rather than brisk marches. It is essential to know that long, fast walks would result in severe breathlessness and even joint problems for your Pug. Avoid Strenuous Walks With A Pug Puppy Long walks, running up and down the stairs, or jumping around excessively is considered a strenuous activity for them. Their activity should be strictly monitored and controlled. After long, high-speed walks, you will most probably find them snorting and short of breath. If you try to walk your puppy too much too fast, they may sit down and refuse to walk. So be prepared to carry them as this breed can have a stubborn streak. Vigorous exercise during this time can negatively affect the soft areas at the end of the bones where the cells continuously divide for the growth of limbs. There should be no walking until at least 1 hour after eating, as this can cause your puppy to suffer from bloats, which is a serious medical condition for pugs. Their stomachs fill with gas, leading to cutting off the blood supply to the stomach. Instead, they will keep struggling to match your pace, ending up tired and breathless. Since pugs do not have a perfect breathing system, they end up in heavy breathing even after a short period of walking. Using a harness while walking can help reduce any stress on the throat area of the pug puppy. This allows them to breathe freely, which can lead to a longer walking duration. Always keep an eye on your Pug, especially when they are outdoors with you. Try to keep them comfortable and cared for. Walk Time and the Effect of Weather Pugs have a short snout which hinders their breathing rate, causing problems in extremely hot weather conditions. So, refrain from taking your puppy out in the heat. Even letting them lie in the sun may cause it to overheat and the breathing issue to aggravate. Since regular activity is required to keep your pup healthy and fit, do not restrict its activity even in summers. Just alter the timings and walk your Pug a little earlier in the morning or late in the evening. Do not let it wander away while walking or playing, as it may run excessively and warm up too much. Pugs do not enjoy rainy weather and moisture either. Here are some tips to make walking your Pug in the rain, easier, especially when they refuse to go. You may prefer to walk your dog in shady, sheltered areas on such days. Winters may also not be favorable for your Pug, but avoiding walks may make your puppy a couch potato. While planning to have a stroll in such weather conditions, simply make sure your puppy has a warm, cozy coat on. Start with giving your pet access to a small open area — a garden at your place can initially be an ideal strolling spot. It is soft for the short limbs of your Pug and gives better practice before moving onto the harder surfaces and pavements. It will stay under your observation in a garden and yet will have the freedom to walk the way it wants. Let your pup play and walk itself first, followed by a lead-walking practice. Moving gradually from a slower to faster pace would lead to building up of the stamina. Setting up a reward system to train your puppy to walk for longer durations of time may prove to be very beneficial. They are fond of your love and affection. Their playful nature makes them great family dogs. This breed is extremely loyal and will bond quickly with its human family, making them a kid-safe breed. Though small in size, they possess an enormous personality. Not only are they fun-loving, but extremely smart, observant, and fast learners too. They tend to learn and develop habits at a very young age. Be sure to check out these Pug training secrets that dog trainers use on all breeds of dogs, even stubborn breeds like Pugs. Final Word A young puppy should walk no more than 20 minutes at one time until they have built up their endurance. Pug Puppies are not ideal dogs for long walks and need exceptional care and attention when taken for a walk. A loving owner would nonetheless find it highly amusing to train their pug puppy for walks- your Pug will make sure to stay at the center of your attention and will never let you feel frustrated or tired! Unlike other dogs, these brachycephalic dogs. She would get all excited when I would get her harness and leash out of the closet. She knew that we were going to go for a walk and when she was younger, I would take her on a daily mile walk. However, it took a while to build up her endurance to be able to walk that much. This breed is NOT built for rigorous exercise and should never go for long-distance runs. They are more active when they are young and become lazy as they become an adult. Here are some tips that you can use to help you make the most of your walks together. Pugs have small necks and are known for their breathing problems. It is not a natural feeling for a dog to be constrained by a leash and their first reaction is to pull. Using a collar can cause them to have breathing issues and this experience will just create a negative experience with walking. Make sure that you find the best harness for your Pug before you attempt to walk them. This will protect their neck if they do start pulling and will also give you more control over them. Walk Them Daily: Just like anything else you want to achieve, it takes time and practice. If you want Fido to enjoy and look forward to the walks, you have to get them into the daily routine. Mindy never had a problem when I walked a semi-fast pace. Your dog should be able to walk beside you without having to jog. You want to maintain a pace that keeps them from stopping and sniffing everything in sight. They will let you know if they need to relieve themselves by pulling on the leash. Walk Them In The Morning: Pugs do not perform well in the heat and can struggle with breathing issues. Make sure that you avoid strenuous exercise during the middle of the day when the temperatures can be too hot. I always made it a point to walk Mindy early in the morning after she had her breakfast. At one point I tried walking her before breakfast, but she always woke up hungry. So instead of changing her feeding schedule, I would just feed her before our walks. We had a portable bowl for Mindy when we took her on picnics or to the dog park. Pugs have respiratory issues and should never be walked in extremely hot temperatures. Make sure you have plenty of fresh water on hand to help keep them cool when walking in hot temperatures. Just in case you need to take a little break. We walked Mindy on a sidewalk, we always made sure that Mindy walked out the inside further from the traffic. Young babies are active and love attention and look forward to playing and exercise. However, as a Pug becomes older, you will notice that they will want to spend more time sleeping and lounging around the home. If your pet is tired from overexertion of playing or just not feeling up for a walk, make sure you respect their wishes. If your canine friend refuses to go for a walk in the rain, you should respect that. Of course, you can use an umbrella to keep them dry while walking. There are plenty of warm sunny days that I could take her for morning walks. Pugs are brachycephalic dogs , this means that they are prone to breathing problems that can be caused by hot temperatures. If you do, make sure that you have plenty of water and try to choose a walking trail that is shaded. I had this happen with Mindy when she was young. I took her hiking because I thought she would enjoy it. When we were around 10 minutes into the hike, she refused to walk. She sat down and there was nothing that I could to get her to walk, except pick her up and carry her. The best thing you can do is take some treats with you on your walks. If they refuse to walk, see if you can use the treats to get them moving again. Maybe they woke up and are suffering from diarrhea and vomiting? If you have pet insurance for your Pug , you can take them to the vet to make sure that nothing is serious. Of course, if they are just having a bad day, make sure they get plenty of rest and skip their daily walk. Avoid Over Exercising Your Pug Walking your dog is a great way to bond with them and get physical exercise for both of you. Yes, you can get your dog accustomed to more exercise with proper training. Conclusion Having a pet is a great way for both of you to get active. Mindy was in my life for 16 years and we had a great time together. Enjoy the time you have with your pet. You May Also Like.
Articles Probably one of the most fun and endearing grooming trends when it comes to dogs is the teddy bear cut. Poodles were built for this aesthetic which is why the Teddy Bear Poodle is so popular. A Teddy Bear Poodle is a Poodle that is groomed to look like a teddy bear. This often includes specifically trimming the fur to create a rounded, stuffed toy aesthetic. Contrary to popular misconception, Teddy Bear Poodles are actually purebred Poodles and not mixed dogs. Owning and caring for a Teddy Bear Poodle is a great responsibility. You need to understand not only how to raise a happy and healthy dog but also how to maintain their adorable teddy bear cut. If you have no idea where to start, you have come to the right place. A Teddy Bear Poodle is a term used to refer to a purebred Poodle that has been groomed to look like a teddy bear. They are not a breed variation or a mixed breed doggy as some may claim. Given the fact that Teddy Bear Poodles are basically like any other Poodle, they conform to the same breed standards as Poodles with any other style of grooming. However, there are a few specific features that are preferred over others to create the realistic teddy bear aesthetic. Size Technically speaking, a Teddy Bear Poodle can be of any size as long as they are purebred. However, to achieve a closer likeness to the small stuffed toys they are named after, Toy Poodles and Miniature Poodles are most commonly styled as teddy bears. Toy Poodles are the smallest recognized type of Poodle and range from 4 lbs in weight and should not exceed 10 inches in height. Miniature Poodles on the other hand range from 10 to 15 lbs in weight and 10 to 15 inches in height. Coat Type The teddy bear aesthetic in Poodle can only be achieved if the coat type is dense and fluffy enough to be easily manipulated into the right style. For this, Poodles with the common curly coat are the only ones that can get the teddy bear cut. Colors Poodles come in many different colors. However, Brown and Apricot Poodles are the ones that usually get associated with the teddy bear aesthetics. Black coats are also commonly seen with this grooming style. The life expectancy for a Teddy Bear Poodle is 10 to 18 years. This range covers all sizes of Poodles from Standard Poodles that tend to live shorter to Toy Poodles that live the longest. Given that the Teddy Bear Poodle is just named so because of the grooming style, they do not deviate from this lifespan range. They also suffer the same health conditions that all other Poodles are prone to. Here are some of these diseases. This affects several functions from metabolism to thermoregulation. With Teddy Bear Poodles in particular, the alopecia associated with hypothyroidism leaves uneven patches of thin coat which ruin the whole aesthetic. In this case, it is the adrenal glands that fail to do their job of producing hormones. As with hypothyroidism, several systems are affected which results in very vague symptoms. Hip Dysplasia Hip dysplasia in Teddy Bear Poodles is a disease of the joints where the hip joint socket fails to form normally. Taking care of a Teddy Bear Poodle is, for the most part, just like taking care of any other Poodle. Just make sure to feed them healthy, get them on a regular exercise schedule, stick to your routine vet visits, and come up with a grooming schedule. However, in this case, maintaining aesthetics is the huge priority in the care of Teddy Bear Poodles. That is why we have compiled the following summary of care tips particularly aimed at improving coat health and maintaining aesthetics. You also have to ensure that the meals are balanced in terms of nutritional contents. This is because several nutrients are required for coat health from proteins and healthy fats to minerals and vitamins. And we recommend providing 1 oz of serving per pound of body weight twice daily for Teddy Bear Poodles. Pet Plate is by far the best option for balanced dog meals. They use recipes that are approved by veterinarians to ensure that your dog is getting enough of all the crucial nutrients. Some of the most effective vitamins when it comes to coat health include vitamin E, vitamin B7, and vitamin C. Constant scratching will not only mess up the aesthetic and likely cause damage to the coat with fur loss, as well as the skin if the scratching leaves open wounds. Identifying allergy triggers and avoiding them while also managing the triggers is another great strategy to keep your Teddy Bear Poo looking cute. However, the fact that Toy and Miniature Poodles are more commonly used means you may find a few differences if you compare Standard Poodles to your regular Teddy Bear Poodle. Here are a few of these personality traits so that you know what to expect exactly. Feisty And Vocal Teddy Bear Poodles are adorable, and they seem to know it, given how spunky the little doggies tend to be. Their feisty behavior is often accompanied by an inexplicable love for barking and whining. Teddy Bear Poodles will bark and whine whenever they are happy, scared, frustrated, or even just bored. Intelligent Training a Teddy Bear Poodle and living with them, in general, is very easy as they are very smart and. They pick up quickly on training and are usually very obedient. This makes Teddy Bear Poodles awesome pets for first-time dog owners. Loyal Another awesome thing you have to look forward to with Teddy Bear Poodles is the fact that they are super loyal. They love to be around their favorite humans, especially if you are active in their training and daily care. Energetic Teddy Bear Poodles are little balls of energy that are sure to keep you on your feet. They are very energetic and athletic, thereby needing frequent engagement to keep them happy. Affectionate And Clingy When Toy and Miniature Poodles get the teddy bear cut, the resulting Teddy Bear Poo will demonstrate signs of clinginess which is in contrast to the reserved and aloof Standard Poo. If you want to be showered with affection and attention, the smaller Teddy Bear Poodles are the way to go. Image from Instagram: bella. This is largely due to the fact that they have a dense and tightly curled coat which rarely sheds. And when they do shed, the fur pretty much gets trapped within the dense coat. Seeing that Teddy Bear Poos are simply regular Poodles with the same curly coat type, they also enjoy the hypoallergenic status. However, their coat care needs may be slightly different compared to those you find with other Poodles. Here are the 3 most important things you need to know about the maintenance of the teddy bear haircut on your Poodle. If anything, regular brushing to detangle and get rid of any loose fur is actually a great way to keep them looking awesome. Your choice of grooming tool also matters in which case we recommend the Furminator Undercoat Tool. This grooming comb is designed to work on any coat type and any cut style without ruining either the coat or the cut. Removes loose hair: reaches through the topcoat to remove loose undercoat hair without cutting skin or damaging the.FURejector button: just push the button to release hair with ease. However, with Teddy Bear Poodles, it is best to align and stagger your wash schedule with your teddy bear recutting and restyling schedule. To ensure that the results of your wash last long enough for the next grooming session, we recommend that you work with high-quality products like Mighty Petz 2-In-1 Oatmeal Dog Shampoo And Conditioner. This shampoo and conditioner combo is made with oatmeal extracts which help with promoting coat health. Schedule A Trimming And Restyling Every 6 Weeks If you wish to maintain the teddy bear aesthetic in your dog for a long period of time, we recommend that you plan for trimming and restyling every 6 weeks, give or take a couple of weeks. Failure to do so will leave you with an unsightly mess of fur that looks nothing like a cute and cuddly teddy bear. Not all Poodles can pull off the teddy bear cut. It largely depends on the type of coat that they have. The teddy bear grooming style works best on Poodles with the common dense, curly coat that can easily be trimmed and manipulated to achieve the aesthetic. However, Poodles that have the rarer corded coat type cannot have the teddy bear cut done on them, as the fur strands are much longer and tend to lay close to the skin as opposed to being puffed out. If you already have a Poodle, the cost of getting them groomed and styled for the teddy bear aesthetic depends on their size. Can Teddy Bear Poodles Swim? Teddy Bear Poodles not only love swimming but are actually very good at it. Their ancestors were used as water fowl retrieval dogs and their instinctive love for the water can still be seen in modern day purebred Poodles. Although she stands no more than 10 inches tall and weighs between 4—6 pounds, the Toy Poodle has a big, playful personality that can fill up a room. While frequently associated with France, Standard Poodles were first developed in Germany, where they were used in duck hunting. They have lower exercise needs than many other dog breeds, but still benefit from a daily walk and play session. Poodles of all sizes have curly coats with extensive grooming needs. Their coat grows continuously, calling for a trim every four to six weeks. However, there is no such thing as a completely "hypoallergenic" dog. People with allergies should spend time with the breed before officially bringing home a Toy Poodle puppy. But during this long life , they are predisposed to a few health issues that may require care. Pet parents may benefit from investing in pet insurance early in life. Progressive Retinal Atrophy Progressive retinal atrophy PRA is a group of diseases that cause a breakdown of the photoreceptor cells rods and cones on the retina. Initially, the dog may have difficulty seeing in the dark, but the condition can cause blindness over time. PRA is an inherited disease and there are currently no effective treatments available. Patellar Luxation The patella kneecap is a small bone that normally sits in a groove within the femur at the knee. In dogs with patellar luxation, the patella moves luxates outside of its assigned groove when the knee is flexed. This movement can cause discomfort and may eventually lead to arthritis. Many pets will skip or run on three legs when the patella is out of place. While some cases will correct themselves, in more severe cases the patella remains out of place. In mild cases, joint supplements such as fish oils and glucosamine or anti-inflammatory medications are used to control pain and prevent arthritis. In more severely affected dogs, surgery may be recommended. This causes pain and limping occur as the bone breaks down. In some cases, pain can be controlled with medications. In severe cases, surgery to remove the head of the femur may be recommended. Symptoms include visible debris, redness, odor, head shaking, and scratching. If any of these signs are noted, take your dog to the veterinarian for an exam. In most cases, ear infections can be resolved by cleaning the ear and with topical medications. Toy Poodles develop ear infections more often than most other breeds. This may be partly due to Poodles having long ear canals with excess curly hair to trap in moisture and debris. Trimming not plucking the hair from the ear may help reduce the incidence of ear infections. Dogs with chronic or recurring ear infections frequently have allergies that should be addressed. Dental Disease Dental disease is one of the most common conditions seen in dogs as they age, especially in small breeds like the Toy Poodle. Dental disease occurs when bacterial tartar and plaque build up, leading to inflammation of the tissues around the teeth—and eventually to tooth and bone decay. Daily tooth brushing with a dog-specific toothpaste is the best way to prevent dental disease, though some diets, treats, and chew toys also help prevent plaque and tartar. Tracheal Collapse Tracheal collapse occurs when the trachea commonly called the windpipe flattens. This happens due to weak cartilage rings or the sagging of a membrane along the trachea. Most cases are treated using medications, but in severe cases where breathing is impeded, surgery may be necessary. Toy poodles are likely genetically predisposed to tracheal collapse. When on walks, use a harness instead of a collar, as pressure on the trachea can cause further damage. The condition causes a deficiency in a protein called the von Willebrand factor, which is necessary for platelets to stick together and form a clot. In dogs that are deficient in this protein, the blood may have difficulty clotting, which can lead to bleeding from the nose, vulva, bladder, or gums. Additionally, dogs with this condition may bleed for a long time after trauma or surgery. If there is concern about VWD, a screening test may be performed. This test measures how long it takes for a small cut in the mouth to stop bleeding. If the time is longer than usual, additional testing is needed to confirm VWD. Because some dogs with VWD do not have notably prolonged bleeding until later in adulthood, blood levels of von Willebrand factor can be measured to help with diagnosis. Most veterinarians recommend testing for VWD prior to any planned surgery, including spays, neuters, and dewclaw removals. Puppies should be fed a diet formulated specifically for puppies or designated for all life stages. For Toy Poodle adults, dental-focused diets may be recommended by your veterinarian to help prevent dental disease. Toy poodle puppies, however, should eat three to four small meals per day on a consistent schedule to help maintain their blood sugar. Additionally, the feeding guide labels on the dog food provides valuable information for pet parents. Just remember: In small breeds like the Toy Poodle, calories in treats add up quickly. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in skin and joint supplements , fish oil, and even in some specially formulated dog foods. These fatty acids act as natural anti-inflammatories that help support the skin, coat, kidneys, joints, and heart. They are playful and self-confident when socialized at a young age. While relatively calm, Toy Poodles enjoy playtime and exercise with the family. The breed is gentle with children and other pets, though all interactions between dogs and kids should be supervised. Because these pups are so tiny, they can accidentally be hurt during playtime. Toy Poodles have lower exercise needs than many other dog breeds, but still benefit from a daily walk and play session. Toy Poodle Behavior Toy Poodles bond closely to their families and may develop separation anxiety if left alone for extended periods. They can also be sensitive to stress, and sudden changes in the home environment may lead to gastrointestinal upset. Additionally, because Poodles are so smart, they need mental stimulation to keep themselves entertained—and out of trouble. Bored dogs are more likely to bark, jump, be destructive, or misbehave. Toy Poodle Training Toy poodles want to please their owners. Paired with their smarts, this makes them an easy breed to train. As always, training is most successful when based on positive reinforcement with praise and tasty treats. Fun Activities for Toy Poodle Obedience training. Also called Barbone and Caniche, the teacup-toy Poodle is an intelligent and loyal breed. If you want a best friend who is big enough to keep up with your adventures but small enough to ride in your lap, this energetic dog may be a match for you. Affectionate, eager, and playful, they are ready and willing to do what it takes to make you happy. Their intelligence makes them relatively easy to train, and early socialization will help your pup grow to be calm and happy around pets, children, and unfamiliar people. They are a delightful all-around dog that has such strong qualities, it has been a parent breed for dozens of hybrid breeds. Their eyes are dark and brilliant and reveal their intelligence. Their nose is refined at the end of a long, narrow snout, and their teeth meet in a strong scissor bite. A miniature variation dictates that Teacup-Toy Poodles will have a squarely-built body with a deep chest and muscled shoulders. Their stance is elegant but sturdy, and their tail stands straight up. Their hair is typically dense, curly, and even wiry. Their coats come in many colors: White. Toy poodles double down on the froofroo rep with their tiny size and by sometimes sporting those fancy haircuts. But trust us, poodles are more than happy to get down and dirty. In fact, poodles started life as hunting dogs for the rich and famous in Europe. What made them so popular, however, is their incredible intelligence. Generally regarded as one of the smartest dog breeds , poodles are highly trainable, extremely eager to please people, and love being the center of attention through tricks and activities. None of that has changed over the years: The poodle consistently ranks as one of the 10 most popular breeds in the world. Appearance Toy, miniature , and standard poodles are all the same breed of dog, so they'll look more or less the same—except for their size. Toy poodles are the smallest of the three, standing no more than 10 inches tall and generally weighing right around 5 pounds. All three classifications of poodle have squarish bodies, generally about as long as they are tall. Poodles have a proud bearing, with heads kept high and their large, dark-colored eyes looking alert. Poodle coats come in a stunning array of colors from black, through the browns and yellow colors all the way to white. Bi-colored coats are also seen, though not hugely common. Poodles don't shed much , making them great for owners with allergies. While there aren't technically any hypoallergenic dogs , most people will find toy poodles close enough to not really quibble over it. Additionally, groomers can style a poodle's fur many different ways, and the breed has become famous for its outlandish show cuts. They tend to consider themselves a vital part of the family, have strong personalities, and learn things in a flash. They will get legitimately disgruntled if they think they're being left out of family activities. Of course, this temperament is kind of a double-edged sword. Toy poodles are devoted family pets who love to be the center of attention, learn tricks, and take walks. They're excellent in agility and obedience training and will play with children for hours. Because of their extreme intelligence, poodles are even quick to learn how to engage in more complex games such as hide and seek. On the flip side, poodles can develop common stress behaviors associated with separation anxiety. If you leave them alone for too long or don't give them the attention they deserve, these pups can be passive aggressive and do things they know you don't like—while you're there to watch. The toy poodle's teensy-tiny size makes it tempting to carry him everywhere, and he's so cute that it's no surprise owners are tempted to spoil him rotten. But, again, poodles are brilliant. A toy poodle who is carried everywhere will start to expect to be carried everywhere. As a result, every poodle owner should take full advantage of the breed's brilliance and eagerness to please, and obedience train their pet as quickly as possible. Living Needs Here is where the toy poodle's aptitude as an ideal family pet really shines. While poodles can be active dogs and will require some kind of daily exercise, toy poodles can get all their needs taken care of right there on the living room floor. Nichols says these little dogs will be happy with whatever type and amount of exercise their owner provides. Their tiny size makes them marvelous apartment-dwellers , and their innate desire to be lapdogs makes them great for seniors and people with mobility issues. Poodles of all sizes make great therapy dogs , and toy poodles in particular will love sitting near you for hours at a time. Toy poodles do great in households with other dogs, and the breed's lower prey drive , high intelligence, and friendly attitude make them ideal for houses with cats as well. Poodles love children and are eager to play, but most vets and breeders will steer households with children under the age of 10 toward the miniature or standard varieties, simply because the toy poodles are so small. They can be easily hurt by a falling child or by being handled too roughly. Always supervise children when they play with any dog and teach them how to properly interact with pets. Care No breed is perfect, and for poodles the biggest setback is going to be their grooming needs. That coat that is so shed-free and allergy-friendly? It's going to need brushing. A lot of brushing —ideally, every day. Because his hair curls in on itself, it's extremely prone to matting and, if left unchecked, can cause skin infections and have to be shaved off entirely. Aside from the brushing, poodles will need a bath and haircut every four to six weeks. While show dogs have a variety of complicated cuts to choose from, most non-show owners opt for a more standard sporting cut because of its ease to maintain. Like all dogs, you'll need to trim his nails regularly. Special attention should be paid to the ears , as their hair will grow up inside the ear canal, trapping wax and dirt and leading to infections. Because toy varieties have the same number of teeth as other poodle varieties but their mouths are smaller, it's easy for food to get trapped and decay to occur rapidly. Health Though the three varieties of poodles are the same breed, they do not suffer from the same conditions. While the standard poodle will be more prone to bloat , toy poodles can be slightly more susceptible to blood clotting disorders including Von Willebrand's disease and hemophilia , Beck says. Finally, smaller dogs can have a higher propensity for dental problems. In addition to being at greater risk for tooth decay , they don't lose their puppy teeth as easily as bigger dogs, Beck says. Reputable toy poodle breeders will conduct all health tests recommended by the Canine Health Information Center. History The poodle is the national dog of France, which is why you'll hear many people refer to the standard poodle as the "French poodle. Today in France, the poodle is known as the caniche, which translates to "duck dog. Toy poodles began to see favor by the late 18th century, appearing in artwork and in the courts of French aristocracy. The American Kennel Club recognized the poodle as a registered breed in .Jinkee , a 5-year-old red toy poodle, has more than 70, followers on Instagram. Was this page helpful?

Its task was to seize the prey and hold it until the hunters arrived. In later years, faster dogs were favored and a smaller Bullenbeisser was bred in Brabant , in northern Belgium. The Brabanter Bullenbeisser is generally accepted as being a direct ancestor of today's Boxer. The club went on to publish the first Boxer breed standard in , a detailed document that has not been changed much since. During World War I , the Boxer was co-opted for military work, acting as a valuable messenger dog, pack carrier, attack dog , and guard dog. Taken home by returning soldiers, the dog was introduced to a wider audience and soon became a favorite as a companion, a show dog, and a guard dog. Boxer early genealogy chart Flocki, the first Boxer German citizen George Alt, a Munich resident, mated a brindle-colored female dog imported from France named Flora with a local dog of unknown ancestry, known simply as "Boxer", resulting in a fawn-and-white male, named Lechner's Box after its owner. This dog was mated with his own dam, Flora, and one of his offspring was a female called Alt's Schecken. George Alt mated Schecken with a Bulldog named Dr. Flocki was the first Boxer to enter the German Stud Book after winning the aforementioned show for St. Bernards in Munich , which was the first event to have a class specific for Boxers. Blanka von Angertor, Flocki's sister, was even more influential when mated with Piccolo von Angertor Lechner's Box grandson to produce the predominantly white particolored female dog Meta von der Passage, which, even bearing little resemblance with the modern Boxer standard early photographs depict her as too long, weak-backed, and down-faced , is considered the mother of the breed. Our great line of sires all trace directly back to this female. She was a substantially built, low to the ground, brindle and white particolor, lacking in underjaw and exceedingly lippy. As a producing female, few in any breed can match her record. She consistently whelped puppies of marvelous type and rare quality. Those of her offspring sired by Flock St. Salvator and Wotan dominate all present-day pedigrees. Combined with Wotan and Mirzl children, they made the Boxer. Breed name[ edit ] The name "Boxer" is supposedly derived from the breed's tendency to play by standing on its hind legs and " boxing " with its front paws. Brace's Pet Owner's Guide to the Boxer, this theory is the least plausible explanation. At that time, the spelling "baxer" equalled "boxer". Both the verb boxen [English "to box, to punch, to jab"] and the noun Boxer were common German words as early as the late 18th century. The term Boxl, also written Buxn or Buchsen in the Bavarian dialect, means "short leather trousers" or "underwear". The very similar-sounding term Boxerl, also from the Bavarian dialect, is an endearing term for Boxer. These dogs were the result from mixes of Bullenbeisser and other similar breeds. Bier beer probably refers to the Biergarten, the typical Munich beer garden, an open-air restaurant where people used to take their dogs along. The nickname "Deutscher Boxer" was derived from Bierboxer and Boxer could also be a corruption of the former or a contraction of the latter. This seems improbable. Any such action would likely result in a badly bitten if not broken leg. On the other hand, a German breeder of 40 years' experience states positively that the Boxer does not use his feet, except to try to extinguish a small flame such as a burning match. But a Boxer does box with his head. He will hit not bite a cat with his muzzle hard enough to knock it out and he will box a ball with his nose. Or perhaps, since the German dictionary translates Boxer as "prize-fighter", the name was bestowed in appreciation of the fighting qualities of the breed rather than its technique. Boxer is also the name of a dog owned by John Peerybingle, the main character in the best-selling book The Cricket on the Hearth by Charles Dickens , which is evidence that "Boxer" was commonly used as a dog name by the early 19th century, before the establishment of the breed by the end of that same century. An emerging health concern among boxers is Boxer Juvenile Kidney Disease JKD , where the kidneys do not develop normally during gestation and leads to chronic renal failure. There is strong evidence to suggest JKD is an inherited condition in boxers with research being undertaken by the University of Ohio to determine the gene mutation, as well as other work separately by the UK Boxer Breeder Council. Mortality due to infection increases significantly with increases in inbreeding. The breed is particularly predisposed to mast cell tumours, a cancer of the immune system. Because of their brachycephalic heads, they do not do well with high heat or humidity, and common sense should prevail when exercising a Boxer in these conditions. See also: Dog food Boxers need plenty of exercise, which means their diet should be high in quality calories. The main source of these calories should be lean animal protein, which include lean chicken, turkey, lamb, and fish. They sometimes appear at dog agility or dog obedience trials and flyball events. These strong and intelligent animals have also been used as service dogs, guide dogs for the blind, therapy dogs, police dogs in K9 units, and occasionally herding cattle or sheep. The versatility of Boxers was recognized early on by the military, which has used them as valuable messenger dogs, pack carriers, and attack and guard dogs in times of war. Notable Boxers[ edit ] Punch and Judy were awarded the Dickin Medal for conspicuous gallantry or devotion to duty while serving in a military conflict. What Is A European Boxer? Due to the Boxer breed origins, some people would argue that this is the way original Boxers looked like. Boxers were first bred in Germany to be working dogs. They were used for hunting bears and bars, which is why they were called Bullenbeissers, or the German Bulldogs. Over time, this exact breed of dogs disappeared, but its ancestors, the European Boxer breed or rather, German Boxer dogs , kept its legacy. As such, European Boxers have an appearance that is suited to their working dog history. They are strong, muscular dogs that can deal with many tasks, whether that be hunting or protecting your house. In fact, there is only one Boxer breed. However, the issue lies in the fact that there is more than one kennel club that determines the breed standard. Each area has its own major kennel club that determines how a specific dog breed should look. While there are many more kennel clubs, these four are likely the largest ones that determine the standard for the rest of the world. The breed standard will affect the breeding practices and the desirable dogs in the area, which means that the breeders will focus on reproducing dogs that look and behave a certain way over the other ones. As such, some slight differences among dogs of the same breed are possible. Females usually grow to be between 20 and 24 inches, while males are slightly taller , as they can reach up to 25 inches in height. Similarly, males are slightly heavier than females, as females will rarely weigh more than 55 lbs, and males weigh on average 66 lbs. These are muscular dogs with large frames. One of the most notable and prized features they have is their skull to snout ratio, which has to be exactly .They have a wide chest that gives them a rectangular appearance, fairly short legs, high knuckles, and small feet for their size, and a short coat that comes in several colors — although most will have a black mask. While you can find white Boxers and black Boxers, they are not according to the breed standard in Europe. White markings are also desirable, but not the reverse brindle. European Boxer Temperament Some people are afraid of the Boxer breed as they consider them overly aggressive. However, this is nothing but a misconception. According to the Euro Boxer standard, these pups should never be aggressive. Any single sign of aggression disqualifies these pups from further breeding. European Boxers are confident, calm, and brave. These dogs have to be loyal toward all of their family members and they need to be protective. This way, they can fulfill their guard dog duties without mistake. At the same time, this means they have to be wary of strangers, so socialization is the key to reducing any behavioral flaws. These are friendly dogs that know when to be serious. They are fairly easy to train, as their biggest desire is to please their humans. Even as they grow old, European Boxer dogs are fearless and will have no problem fighting for their owner if something is threatening them. At the same time, they should be gentle towards children, although you should never leave them unattended with your little ones. Due to their large size, they might knock a child over or hurt them during a rough playtime. This includes Boxers, as well. Unfortunately, there are many hereditary conditions and not all can be entirely prevented. Many of these conditions can be prevented by picking healthy bloodlines and giving your pup high-quality dog food. Obesity is the leading cause of many disorders, so make sure your pup eats healthy. Otherwise, you might be dealing with a breeder who is simply labeling their dogs to increase the sale. Not just that, but we would advise you to always buy from reputable dog breeders. These people are selling only dogs that have been health tested. This results in healthy litters and dogs with a long lifespan. Reputable breeders will always give you a health guarantee, so you can know your dog will be healthy for a long time. As such, they tend to be a bit more expensive — although not so much to make a huge difference! The function is secondary, while the aesthetics are primary. As such, here are some of the main differences between the American and the European Boxers: Appearance First and foremost, European Boxers are a bit larger and stronger than their American counterparts. They are bulkier and more muscular, and they can truly look scary, especially to strangers. However, they can be a tiny bit shorter than American Boxers due to their shorter legs. They have a larger but narrower snout compared to their European counterparts, which ruins the ratio slightly. However, both types of Boxers are born with floppy ears, and it is up to the breeder whether their ears will be cropped. Still, European Boxers should have their ears and tail intact. If you know how to properly socialize and train your pooch, you can battle most inherited behavioral traits. While you can teach a dog not to be aggressive, you cannot fully influence his character. They also have more stamina and higher energy levels, as they have to run in the field to catch their prey. On the other hand, American Boxers are more laid-back and less energetic, although they are still far from couch potatoes. These dogs are friendlier and more social, sometimes even prone to separation anxiety. Both the European Boxer and the American Boxer make great family companions. They love all of their family members, and they love having playtime companions. As such, it all goes down to what you expect from your family dog. The American Boxers are slightly calmer, with a mellow temperament that might make them appear a bit more stable. They are loyal dogs that would do anything for their owners. Both the European and the American Boxer make top-quality guard dogs. These pups were bred to protect your home and keep it safe from intruders. However, American Boxer dogs were bred for show and homes for decades. However, they might not be as aware of everything as European Boxers are. Also, they are not as strong nor as fast as their European counterparts. As such, European Boxers might be a slightly better choice — but only by a little. Boxers are very clean dogs. However, their short coat will shed. In fact, some Boxers are known to be huge shedders! Fortunately, most dogs shed a small to moderate amount all year round. This is a great thing, as it will reduce the amount of maintenance required. Instead, Boxers are known for their flatulence which leaves a bad odor. At the same time, they are not a good choice for people who struggle with dog allergies. This is not just due to their shedding amount, but also because they are known to drool. As drool is another common allergen, next to dander that gets stuck to the dog hair, these are not hypoallergenic dogs. This is because large dog breeds are more prone to cancer, as well as to some life-threatening conditions such as bloat. In fact, cancer is the main cause of a shorter lifespan in Boxers. Most European Boxers will live 8 to 10 years. However, with a good diet and a reasonable amount of exercise, they can live a bit longer. There are three types of Boxer dogs that evolved due to the differences in the Boxer breed standard. While the American Boxer and the English Boxer are considered to be on the opposite sides of the spectrum, the British Boxer also known as the UK Boxer is something in between the two, making it the less extreme type. Post navigation. About Us Sanchez Boxers Hi! Let me tell you a little about us here at Sanchez Boxers. My name is Angie Sanchez. Boxers are my passion. I love fell in love with this amazing breed in when my husband bought home our 1st boxer from a friend that was moving and couldn't keep her. I can't imagine ever owning another breed. I'm mom to 4 kids, ages .All our dogs and puppies have daily interactions with the whole family. We started out just like everyone else not knowing a lot. We started researching the history of the breed. Asking other breeders lots of questions. We also struck up a good relationship with our Vet. We bred and had puppies for a few years before we discovered the German Euro boxer which we fell in love with. That's not to say that the american boxers aren't awesome as well. I decided that if i was going to do this I was going to do it right. So our 1st German Euro male we got in Started our new lines. We began health testing. Thanks for Paula Vandervoort for having a great talk with me about all the health test needed for boxers. It was my dream to show my boxers. So in we began showing. Which was a whole different learning experience. Never knew I would love to show as much as I have. I don't plan on stopping there. I find that I love working and training my dogs. Well I finally got my wish. Multi Ch. La Diva Box Von Sanchez is our 1st bred by keeper to help me over come alot in the show ring. She has so much fun in the ring. I love her more than she knows. She help build my confidence to step out in the show ring and have a good time win or lose. When she was bred we had high hopes for our keeper from her. We welcomed our 3rd keeper Chiquis to the family her mom is our Diva. Chiquis proved to be so versatile. She will do conformation, but loves to be working. We have 1 or 2 litters a year. All our dogs are AKC registered. All our dogs and puppies are raised inside our home around other dogs and children. They are played with daily. When we started the adventure of Dog Show Competitions. We still have alot to learn but we are having a blast. Meeting alot of really nice boxer people. That is the only way to describe them. They love the breed as much as we do if not more. We would like to thank you for stopping by. If you have any Questions or would like a puppy contact us anytime. Always happy to talk to another Boxer lover. You can also check out our facebook page for our dogs. You will see pic's of the puppies as they grow from tiny lil baby 1st born and each week as they get bigger until they leave our care. AKC has a program called alternative registration and is not to be confused with Purebred Alternative Listing. I know this program works because I used it for my Great Pyrenees. I called AKC and they walked me through the steps. My Pyr is a very healthy, intelligent, and beautiful dog. The reason his sire and Dam were not registered was that the breeder wanted a quick buck. Anyways after AKC did the research they found he had a titled lineage. I know that I will catch some slack for going through a pet store but I have my reasons for doing so. I feel that getting a pet from a store is much like getting a pet from a shelter because what happens to the PUP if no one buys it. Either way, I went off subject. AKC will register your dog if it has a valid lineage. Oh and AKC has a Pedigree look-up so you can do the research yourself before you call them. Answer by jess It is not true. The only way to get papers is if both parents of the pup are registered and the breeder registered the litter the puppy is in. Know better? Give your own answer to this question!
