Depending on the intensity of the pigment, a red dog may appear to be a deep red color all the way to a light brown color. Cream Cream labradoodles range from almost white through to latte depending on the intensity of the pigment. This is our Bruno Mars who is a light cream color with black leathers. The difficulty with breeding for certain colors is that there is no guarantee which genes your pup will inherit. And, some black Labradors can have white mismarks. It will all depend on which genes they inherit. Even puppies from the same litter can look very different from one another in first generation mixes. They make great pets for families with children and other animals as long as they are socialized well. Plus, they have quiet high energy needs. So, they will get along well with those that enjoy the outdoors. How to Avoid This To avoid any destructive behaviors or fear-based anxiety, socialize them well from a young age, and keep them well exercised as adults. When your black and white Labradoodle is a puppy, introduce them to as many new experiences, things, people and places as possible. Keep the first impressions positive. Remember, this mix combines two clever, energetic, and hardworking parent breeds. So, your Labradoodle will love learning new cues and tricks. They can cope in apartments if their exercise needs are met. But, generally, they do best in homes with securely fenced backyards where they can run and play freely to burn off excess energy. For instance, white dogs have a higher chance of experiencing hearing issues, such as deafness. So, they could have a higher chance of suffering from hearing problems. On top of this, they will also be vulnerable to the same hereditary health problems as their parents. This can include: Hip dysplasia. This color can do some interesting things! It can fade into at least three distinct, official Labradoodle colors! Go figure!! I have had one of my chocolate girls turn completely Lavender on her body but not the head, then within a year, go completely back to dark chocolate. So, like a good Boy Scout, when you purchase a chocolate Labradoodle, be prepared for anything! All are lovely, but they are almost impossible to predict with any significant degree of accuracy. Once again, be prepared for anything! Chocolate Colors Now we get to the fun part; the color combinations! This is where things get interesting. Partis can come in any color, with either color nose. Some are mostly white, while some have lots of color and less white. The ones that are mostly white are called "Extreme" Partis. The variations are endless and unique, like a snowflake. The colors, such as chocolate, on a parti can change in the same ways that they would on a solid dog. Often confused with "Parti" is a dog with heavy white mismarks or a Tuxedo. White mismarks can be very small or very heavy, or anywhere in-between. The puppy is born either Black or Chocolate and immediately begins to lose the dark color, revealing anything from a cream to a red underneath! All of them had both testicles down by 10 weeks. It is purely a developmental issue. The vast majority of puppies from our lines have testicles that descend between 8 and 10 weeks of age. One was almost 6 months. At that time, the testicle will be taken care of. We have checked with both of the vet practices that we use as to the additional cost of this minor procedure. I have talked to other breeders to see what their vets charge and these charges are fairly consistent across most of the country. If your vet should insist on neutering early because of an increased possibility of testicular cancer, please read these links where you will see that studies have shown that these risks are very small for young dogs. The benefits of late neutering far outweigh this small risk of testicular cancer. We recommend neutering these dogs just over a year. We have sent home 3 puppies with benign heart murmurs grade 1. All 3 of them outgrew it by months. We have never had a puppy with a true heart problem. However, benign heart murmurs are fairly common in Golden Retriever puppies. These murmurs are caused by the sections of the heart growing at different rates. When vets hear a grade 1 murmur in a young puppy, waiting is usually the first recommendation as long as the puppy is playing and acting normally. We have never had a murmur that was more than a grade 1. If your puppy should have a murmur, even if it is only a grade 1, we give you the option of forfeiting the puppy and getting a full refund. We will keep the puppy and train him until he outgrows the murmur and then sell him to someone else as a trained puppy. If you take the puppy and then the murmur becomes something serious, the terms of our contract apply. There is no discount when you take the puppy. All parents have hearts tested. There are no heart problems in our lines. The chances of there being a significant heart issue is small. Any health problem that we are aware of will be made known to families getting our puppies. With significant issues, it is the owners choice as to how they want to proceed. We are aware that many people fly in to get our puppies and that flights have sometimes been reserved. We do all we possibly can to provide a healthy puppy to families at the time that they plan on picking up their puppy. However, with anything living, no one can totally control all the possibilities. If there should be a problem found before puppy selection of any significance, it will be the last person on our list for that particular gender who would be given a refund and forfeit getting a puppy.
