Ways to Manage Excitement: When you are coming home, try cracking the door open and waiting until your GSD has noticeably calmed down before entering. If they do not jump, reward them. Keep a treat or two on your person when your GSD is likely to jump on someone. This is usually when you or a guest enters your home. Before your GSD even has the chance to jump, show the treat in a calm manner. Their attention should be so locked in on the treat that it overrides their desire to jump up in excitement. Making a clear distinction between play and normal behavior can help them tell when it is okay to jump. They will learn that this is the only time they can jump. Not that you are armed with 5 easy steps to control the jumping. All you have to do is to put them into practice and allow some time for your dog to learn the correct behavior. Nevertheless, there are things you might want to avoid doing when training your GSD not to jump on people. These can slow progress by reinforcing the wrong behavior or upsetting your GSD as they can be quite a sensitive breed. Use negative reinforcement. If your GSD does jump while training, simply ignore them and step away from them. Simply being ignored by their loved ones will send a clear message without hurting their feelings. Reward too quickly. It is crucial to wait until your GSD has demonstrated full control and kept all paws on the floor before you reward them. What Is a Sable German Shepherd? This is also the most dominant gene in the German Shepherd genetics. All of the first German Shepherds were sable colored. Sable color actually means that the coat is multi-colored and has black tips. It can appear on any base coat. In the German Shepherd breed, this is usually red or tan. Instead, you can hear them use the term German Shepherd Agouti. These dogs can grow up to be between 24 and 26 inches depending on whether you have a female or a male GSD , respectively. Females can weigh between 55 and 73 lbs, while males can reach a weight of 95 lbs! This makes them significantly larger than females. Sable German Shepherds come in various color patterns. However, the most common ones are liver on cream, black on cream, black on red, and sometimes even silver on cream. Most, if not all sable German Shepherds change their coat color as they age. In fact, before they reach adulthood, they will change color several times! Usually, sable German Shepherds will be born with a solid black coat. Labrador Vizsla Mix training Due to the Vizsla heritage, a Labrador Vizsla Mix may have the tendency to jump on you when he gets overly excited. However, Labrador Vizsla Mix are highly intelligent and can be easily trained as long as you start them young. They can mature slower than other breeds, so consistency and patience are important. Keep sessions short for about 10 minutes to keep them calm and receptive to learning. They are very agile and energetic and they need to let off steam physically and mentally to avoid destructive behaviors. You can split their exercise into two 2 sessions with a walk in the morning and a game of fetch or frisbee in the afternoon. When walking your Vizsla Lab Mix, be sure to use either a rope dog leash or a retractable dog leash. Another way many owners keep their Vizsla Lab active throughout the day is by allowing their pooch to roam freely in their backyard or patio. If you also let your pups roam freely in your yard, make sure the backyard is fully fenced. You may come across zoning laws that prohibit the installation of fences in your town or county. If this is the case, a great alternative is to install a wireless dog fence which will also keep your canine friends safe. Many pet owners will also get an electronic dog door because they find that the automatic doggy door saves them so much time and energy from frequently opening and closing the door every time their pooch needs to head outside or come back into the house. Lab Vizsla Mix are ideal indoor dogs because they thrive when there is close human companionship. Vizsla and Lab grooming and cleaning Vizsla and Lab Mixes are low-maintenance dogs that only need to be brushed once or twice weekly depending on whether they are single or double-coated. Brushing daily or at least twice a week with a slicker brush helps spread the natural oils throughout their skin and coat and this process assists in moisturizing their skin and coat while also reducing matting and tangling. If you have a Vizsla and Lab that is double-coated, they will shed heavily during the shedding seasons spring and fall. It is normal for Vizsla and Lab to shed and leave their fur all over your sofa, upholstery, carpet, or hardwood floor.
