When Ranger was born, Mayo considered the pup the runt of the litter, and would eventually catch up to his siblings in size. She had no idea that the purebred German shepherd would stay small forever. He lost his appetite, started to lose weight, lost almost all of his fur and had extremely dry and flaky skin. The doctor placed him on levothyroxine and he was bathed with a special soap that allowed his fur to grow back and prevented dryness of the skin. The Teacup Poodle is also called the toy or micro Poodle. They are just small Poodles that have been selectively bred in order to be smaller. Because of their smaller size, they are much more delicate and frailer. Teacup Poodles can occur naturally, as sometimes there is a runt in the litter that is much smaller than its siblings. However, teacups are most often selectively bred, or a result of malnutrition stunting growth. Breeders that advertise teacups are not likely to be reputable, since the breeding of these dogs is controversial. Poodles have a wonderfully fun, but occasionally stubborn personality. They can be feisty at times and will go out of their way to make sure you know what they want, perhaps with a few barks. However at the end of the day, the Teacup Poodle loves to snuggle up with their owner and relax. Teacup Poodles are a purebred dog, not a mixed breed. They have been selectively bred in order to produce a small, teacup puppy. Other breeds such as the miniature German Shepherd were also selectively bred to be smaller. Despite the fact that these dogs are nearly the size of a mouse themselves, they are true terriers. On average, a Teacup weighs 2 to 4 pounds vs to pounds for a Great Dane. They cost more than a standard Terrier, despite being at risk of more health problems. They are classified as a toy breed.
