At about 4 days old we begin doing Early Neurological Stimulation exercises daily. At three and a half weeks we start potty training and weaning them. We took our cue from Fancy who starts to pull away. They take immediately to wet puppy food and transition to a slurry of dry food prepared fresh each meal. We then begin potty training them! Additionally we teach them emotional stability skills such as responding to new stimuli and recovering quickly. Along with emotional skills, we begin handling the pups daily paying particular attention to pads of the feet, tail, ear and mouth in order to desensitize them to these types of touch. This will aid in grooming and doctoring later in life. Getting their nails trimmed will be old hat for these puppies by the time they are 4 weeks old! Exposing them to household sounds such as the hair dryer and vacuum cleaner, traffic and thunderstorms along with other dog sounds will make the transition to your home even more seamless. Your puppy comes home with all up-to-date worming and vaccinations along with a health check from the vet! We even throw in a welcome home package for your puppy to have a smooth transition away from the litter. German Shepherd care German Shepherd puppy diet: newborn For a German Shepherd puppy to develop and grow properly, it is imperative that they first nurse on their mother's milk. They then progress on to regular breast milk. Puppies will nurse for at least 6 to 8 weeks, gradually being weaned on to solid food at about 4 weeks. If, for any reason, the puppy cannot suckle its mother, don't give them cow or goat milk. These milks are very poor quality in comparison to a puppy's mother's milk. German Shepherd puppy diet: 1 month old From 3 to 4 weeks old, when it comes to feeding a German Shepherd puppy, we should start by letting them taste new foods and flavors. At around 6 to 8 weeks old, a German Shepherd puppy should be given a little dry dog food with water, or unseasoned chicken stock between nursing sessions. After 10 minutes, we suggest taking the bowl of food away, even if your puppy hasn't finished eating. A puppy's food bowl must only be available to the dog for 10 minutes. This 10 minutes should be enough time for the puppy to eat all of its provided food. As already mentioned, after 10 minutes, you should take the food bowl away, even if the puppy hasn't finished eating. This pattern will introduce the puppy's food schedule and allow it an opportunity to become accustomed to particular feeding times. There is now abundant information available to anyone who is willing and able to produce a safe and balanced diet.
