The people have stolen pictures, text and testimonials from reputable breeders such as Powder Valley Poodles and put them together to form web sites that entice people to place deposits on puppies. They call themselves by the first names of the reputable breeders whose websites they are stealing. My Testimonials from my very happy poodle puppy and doodle puppy buyers appear ALL OVER the internet as testimonials within scam websites in order to convince people that they are dealing with a reputable breeder. But, there are no poodles. There are no puppies. They take your credit card information or money order and that is the end of their involvement with the client. These are not breeders. These are Cyber scam artists. How do you tell the difference between a real breeder and the con artists? The real breeders will have a physical address. An address that you can contact the post office in their town to see if the address is real and if the names they provide go with that address. Con artists typically have only a post office box. Con artists also typically will communicate only by texting or email. A genuine, reputable breeder wants to TALK to the people potentially buying a puppy. Most reputable breeders are the same way. I want to make sure these people will provide a good home for my puppy. Also, con artists are frequently operating out of foreign countries. They may have a foreign email address and if you do speak with one they may have a foreign accent. Know that we do have the authorities working on stopping these criminals but it is difficult and for law enforcement a fairly low priority. Since I was first made aware of this problem over a year ago when one of my clients saw her testimonial to me on another web site there has been no progress in stopping the scams. Make sure the breeder you are contemplating has a REAL physical address and will speak to you by telephone. Ask MANY questions. Be a savvy consumer. Be safe. Adoption Procedure We have many wonderful rescues available. You can preview most of the rescues here on our website, but it may not be complete as we get new intakes regularly. The best thing to do is to contact Renee to discuss your particular situation and which rescue may be a good fit for you or you can just show up during our regular adoption hours to meet the rescues and we can work with you to find a good match. We have regular adoption hours most Saturday's between 8am - 11am, or by appointment. We suggest you come early as we can get quite busy as the morning progresses. You must be here at least by 10AM as it takes at least an hour to meet and get to know a dog, do an introduction with your dog and fill out the adoption paperwork. These are private appointments and must be set up with her before coming out by calling .We are not usually available on Sundays. Getting a dog is an important decision, and all members of the household must be present including children. If you have another dog, you must bring them with you in order for us to evaluate whether one of our rescues will be a good fit for your family. We suggest having them crated in the car. Proof of home ownership or a letter stating landlord permission is required. When Considering a ROF Adoption Your donation at the time of an adoption is not a fee to buy a dog; it is a donation for the service we provide. It is not refundable. Your donation may be claimed as a tax deductible donation, and furthers our efforts to do as much as we can for as many as we can. We incur significant expenses in paying redemption fees, veterinary fees, transportation costs, boarding, and food costs and ask for an adoption donation for each dog. Rescuing an animal is a commitment. They are not perfect, and in most cases ROF will have limited information about the dog's history. We work on basic handling skills and the "heel", "sit", "stay", "down", and "come" commands. ROF rescues can come to the classes as often as they like, free of charge. The class is open to all breeds and is not limited to ROF rescues. ROF is available to discuss specific questions or circumstances for the life of your dog. If for some reason, you can no longer honor your commitment to the dog. They cannot be sold, given away, placed on "craigslist", or brought to a shelter. ROF is a Forever Home for these animals and in the event they must be returned they must be returned to us. Frodo came to us from a shelter having had surgery done on his cherry eye problem. So by the time Rotts of Friends received him, the surgery has been completely undone. A wonderful vet Dr Louie from Antioch offered to redo his eyes for us and with the help of a cone, his surgery was an amazing success! Frodo needs some obedience training but is a very happy carefree young dog. He loves nothing better than to pick up truck tires and move them from place to place!
